I visited China for 20 days and the Chinese were not polite to my bag at all. Every time I flew, it came back with new black marks on the bag, mostly visible over the reflective stripe. The bag was fine though and everything inside was fine too, even the fragile stuff.
I rolled it down extremely rough cobblestone streets in the Old Town of Lijiang, Yunnan, China. I was afraid it would damage the wheels, but it survived just fine. Hit a big bump though or try to go up or down a curb without being perfectly straight and it will most definitely wobble and lose balance. I found this annoying. Also, there are no rubber reinforcements on the curb-side of the bag, so it will probably wear and tear the fabric over time if you go up curbs.
The handle on the bag is awesome, sturdy and strong. I can't even feel it in the backpack mode, which I was worried about prior to purchase. The handle can rotate and lock in 90 degree positions, which I find much better to the comfort of my wrist as I roll the bag.
The handle/bumper on the bottom is great. I put it through some serious abuse, but upon inspection it looks almost undisturbed. I love the dual-purpose nature of it too, acting not only as a bumper to protect the bag in various situations, but also as a very convenient and sturdy handle to put it in a trunk or something.
The side clips are pretty nice to keep things snug. They even have these orange rubber thingies to place over the zipper so the zipper doesn't wear down the straps over time.
It comes with a TSA lock and they sell the exact same lock in the Swiss store in China. I'm told that this works not only in the USA, but across the whole world. I had no issues w/ the lock in China. As far as I know, nobody tampered with it.
I would definitely recommend this bag, but if I could go back in time, I think I would buy the one that's a bit bigger. I rarely use the backpack mode and I had a hard time fitting all my stuff in there when I bought souvenirs or whatever. I could use the extra space.
