Sony VGP-CCP5/L VAIO Deluxe Backpack for AW series (Blue)

Sony VGP-CCP5/L VAIO Deluxe Backpack for AW seriesI purchased this backpack with a Sony VGP-AMC8 neoprene case because I have had backpacks and other bags mar the finish on my laptops with the restraint straps and other nylon things. I was excited about engulfing the entire laptop before I put it into a backpack or other tote. I do know for a fact that I am happy I bought the neoprene case with it because the Vaio backpack has a nylon restrain strap, which may ruin the finish of the laptop over time. I have seen it happen so many times before. These people designing bags should understand there is a difference between a material's hardness and its strength. Cotton would be such a better material choice for a restraining strap. Since I know this backpack has a nylon restraining strap, I went ahead and got the neoprene case, and I hope that is enough protection. There wasn't a whole lot of choices for bags capable of holding my AW series VAIO. And Sony sure wants the world to know that you are not afraid to spend money, so they put the VAIO logo all over both bags. I will say however, I was very pleased with the construction (stitching) of the bag and the multitude of compartments and straps. It seems like it is very versatile. In fact, beside the restraining strap material (which may just be my personal fear) I would be so bold as to say this bag is perfect for me. I don't think I would have got it originally because of how much branding is on the bag, but because my choices were limited due to size of the laptop, I thought it would be a good choice. Now I am happy I gave it a chance.

I purchased this backpack to protect and carry my 18" Vaio Laptop because I was disappointed with the other After-Market backpacks. The Vaio backpack fits the Vaio laptop like a glove, my only real complaint is that there is no Protection for your "Prized Vaio". The backpack is lacking sufficient padding on the base, sides and top of this backpack. When you spend top dollar for a "Sony Laptop" you have an expectation as a conusmer to have "Quality Branded Accessories" to accompany your investment. "Sony" fell short on this one. The only saving grace is that "Sony" Makes a neoprene sleeve that fits over the Vaio and provide you some added protection without adding any additional weight to your unit (Of course this is a seperate purchase). the 18" AW Series is a heavy piece and when carrying your laptop through airports, shuttles, and storage under the seat in forlnt of you on a flight, you want to be sure that your Vaio is protected from all the bumps and dings. The only other suggestion would be for "Sony" to add a waterproof cover into the base of the backpack within a velcro enclosure to protect your valuable purchase from the elements. If you are interested in this bag then I would strongly recommend buying the neoprene sleeve to protect your investment.

I am very happy with this laptop backpack. I have chronic back problems and carrying things for any amount of time cause the pain to increase. This backpack distributes the weight evenly and there is so much room in the bag to allow for the many extras you may want to bring along.

Excellent backpack, probably the best one I've ever had.

I bought this one to go with my 21 inch monster laptop, and it fits perfectly.

Had it for 2 years now and it's still holding strong.

Pros:

Fits my giant laptop;

Nicely padded shoulder straps;

2 big pockets and 2 smaller side pockets;

Convenient dividers inside for separating papers/folders.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

Long story short, after 2 years I've been 100% satisfied with my purchase.

You really need a backpack to haul around a big Vaio laptop. We originally bought the neoprene 'case' for ours, but it had no handles, and was more of a scratch protector. With the computer in the case, and the case in this backpack, we were good to go anywhere.
