BBP Bags - Hybrid Hauler Medium Olive

BBP Bags - Hybrid Hauler Medium OliveAfter looking and trying different bags and back packs, didn't find one that fit my needs, something spacey, cool looking, ergonomic and comfortable (usually I carry a lot of stuff and I walk everywhere and use public transportation), I saw this girl once on the street and she had one and asked her about the brand and I ordered it, I am very pleased with it, great purchase, great deal as well

Good bag; very utilitarian. Could be more durable and waterproof. Also, the size of the clasps on front are a little too small. Difficult to open and close in a hurry. Overall, it looks great and is very comfortable with two straps.

i own the larger, earlier version of the hampton hauler which i got on closeout. that one is more of a bike bag and has more bells and whistles, but the orange flap makes it just a little too indiscreet for some situations. enter the medium hybrid hauler. it's large enough to hold a netbook + power cable plus a photo insert with a DSLR, 2 lenses and flash. there are two other exterior pockets under the flap and 2 interior pockets, plus the laptop compartment and main compartment. good design, but more bare-bones/basic than more expensive versions of the H/H. the bag will cinch pretty tight for light loads and expand for heavier ones.

in addition to students/bike commuters/stealthy travelers, this bag would work well for street photographers--just add the BPP photo insert (which is tops) or a similar one from domke or mountainsmith. you can carry your photo gear to the location on your back, then switch to single-strap when you need to shoot. there's no velcro in the main compartment closure, which is a big plus for photographers trying not to draw attention to themselves.

this is a good medium/small bag. the color is stylish but subdued with that industrial/military/urban look. it's a lot lighter than the larger, more feature-filled H/H but seems just as well-constructed. the connector rings and hooks are all-metal which is an upgrade from the earlier version. the D-rings on front can be used for camera strap, binoculars, carabiner, or to clip one end onto the bag and make the strap shorter in messenger mode. the material is thick nylon which conforms to the shape of the contents.

the cons are that the backpack straps are a little more tighter than the larger bag, which is more of an issue for broad-shouldered people or if you're wearing bulky layers. Also the messenger strap attachment is just as funky as on the other bags. it works, functionally, but the snap which connects the strap yoke to the middle of the bag is exposed. doesnt really get in the way but aesthetically a minus on a bag which is otherwise very clean, simple, and streamlined.

overall, good value for the money and a more versatile option than a Timbuk 2-style messenger bag.

This bag is sturdy and holds more than I thought it would when I first opened it. My neck/shoulders/back were in pain from carrying a heavy backpack (I am a college student); since I started using this bag my pain has greatly improved. It is easy to switch to a messenger bag when my load is lighter but I mostly use it in backpack mode since I often haul a heavy load. I love the color and the unique styling. It seems like it will hold up well. There are two interior pockets perfect for my waterbottle and snacks, and a couple of zippered compartments that I stash my pens, flashdrive, etc. in. I highly recommend this bag.
