also, the outer water bottle holders are smaller. I had used a Jester backpack prior to this and loved it. The stretchy of the water bottle holder was just right and never lost any elasticity and the pockets were deep enough for a large, 48oz Nalgene water bottle. On the Borealis, the bottom is sewn into the bag, so the bottle never sits low in the pocket. The side straps above the water bottle area have really only gotten in my way so far.
