I have been looking for "manly" grocery bag for sometime. It is amazing how "un-guy friendly" most canvas/nylon grocery bags are. It's as if they don't want men to be green. And I like drawstring bags because of the ease of getting into and out of the bag. Book bags now days seem overly complicated, with 2/3 zippers, fasteners, 15 thousand pockets... I just don't need all of that, especially for grocery shopping.This bag does the job well. I am able to shop with this bag without using multiple small plastic bags that I end up just throwing out. The top drawstring has held up well so far and the bag seems to be pretty well constructed. I like the outside pocket for when I use this bag for work (I work 12 hour shifts and often work overnight, so I put my toiletry bag in the small pocket and I throw snacks, food, books or whatever into the main compartment and head out the door).
There are a couple of things I would change. I would make the drawstring thicker and I would get rid of one of the shoulder straps and leave one adjustable strap down the midline. As this bag has no real "structure" to it, it is not comfortable at all to wear as a book bag and is much more comfortable to wear over one shoulder or across the body when fully loaded.
Some things to be aware of if you buy this bag. It really has no structure, so if you are going to fully load it you have to pay attention to how you put things into the bag. Also, while I use it for groceries, don't expect to take a cart full of groceries home in this one bag. I tend to go to the grocery store on a daily basis. I usually buy a hand basket worth of stuff at most with each trip, and this is perfect for that. I would not recommend this bag for long hiking trips or camping the more fancy/purpose bags are much better for that. When considering this bag, think of Jason Bourne's red bag in the Bourne Identity.
All in all good bag if you know what you are going to use it for. I will update this review as time goes on.
