Kelty Grommet Backpack

Just FYI, the baja blue is not blue. We ordered this for our son for school. It is definitely lavender. We liked the pack and the size is good for our kindergartener but we are now saving the baja blue for our daughter for when she goes to school and we're going to probably re-order the other blue. It should say lavender, so the customer isn't misled.

I purchased this as a replacement for my son's lost K. Grommet. The materials have changed in the past year or two and I'm not as pleased with the look/feel of the fabric, which is shinier and feels much cheaper than his old Grommet. Zippers are still good quality and the design is great for his needs...one medium compartment, one large and a smaller mesh pocket in the front that is perfect for any small wet items you want to keep separate from dry items. The two side pockets are still too short for water bottles. They fit, but the bottles easily fall out. The size is perfect for a 6to 7-year-old. In another year, though, he'll be ready for at least 1,000 cu. in. (This one is 900). Still a pretty decent cost to value ratio. Recommended.

I bought this backpack to use with the crumpler insert as a camera back and it's wonderful. It's smaller size is perfect and the back and straps are padded. The mesh pockets are great for a bottle of water and the front pocket allows me to stash stuff quickly such as my phone and keys. I also love that even though it's a smaller "child's size" backpack it's a nice blue color without all the normal kids things like princesses, cars, cute animals, and that kind of stuff of on. I'm 5'2" and it works perfectly for me. I like that it has a loop on top too to grab when I'm standing in line and it's reflective tape is great when I'm out at night.
