Osprey Packs Quasar Daypack

Osprey Quasar BackpackI've been using my Quasar as my everyday bag for almost a month now. I use this bag at work and at the gym, and weekend hikings with my wife. This bag is really comfortable compared to my columbia daypacks. I really like how low/thin profile the pack is even when loaded with considerable amount of stuff (about 15 lbs), of course with the help of 2 compression straps per side. I was planning to get the black color, but it wasn't available that time so I got the Ice blue instead. The more I use it, the more I love the color.

Some Pros to consider:

1) Great compression strap system

2) Ample main pocket/pouch space

3) YKK zippers all over with great pull design

4) Nice thick handle at the top

5) Laptop/Hydration bladder sleeve

6) Great organizational pockets

7) Side pockets can accommodate 1L Nalgene bottles

8) Great Osprey Warranty

Cons:

1) Waist belt is thin and not removable

2) Osprey packs are addicting (jk)

I have had this item for about 2 weeks and been using it casually when I commute on trains and walk around the city etc.

My only criticism, and this is true for many other packs, is that there needs to be some ventilation for the back, this item does have a mesh padded area that looks like hot air should be able to escape, but it just gets trapped, then you take it off and your back is covered in sweat.

This wouldn't be an issue in winter, but in mild to warm temperatures it does become a problem.

Apart from that, all the positive things people are saying about this pack is very accurate.

I was worried that this pack would be too large compared to other Osprey packs. It is super slim. The photo makes it look bulkier. THe best part about this pack is the straps. You can cinch the pack up tight or let it out and stuff it. There are great laptop sleeve and the chest and waist straps keep it cinched on you, which is great for me when I ride my bike down a trail to and from work every day. I got the fern green pack and thought the color might be offputting after a while. I like it the more I use it. Sturdy construction and well designed to breath, but dont expect it to breath much when you cinch it tight to your body. Great hiking day pack and tech/laptop bag. The only thing I was disappointed was the Osprey logo was not stitched in, but that doesnt really matter, just looked like it was stitched in the pictrue, it's vinyl.

I own Osprey hydration packs for mountain biking and they have held up under abuse and foul weather. I was in the market for a new day pack for commuting to work and did not hesitate to look for another quality Osprey product. The Quasar model had all of the features I was looking for and then some.

Wow, I bought this bag as a GO bag to keep in the car and to pull double duty as an extra carry on bag (meets the personal item requirement) when I travel. I haven't traveled with it yet but it holds my 15.6" hp laptop perfectly. The bag distributes weight across your shoulders and back especially when you connect the sternum strap. I really cannot think of anything that could be improved on this bag.
