Alchemy Goods Pike Messenger Bag, Made from Recycled Bike Tubes

Alchemy Goods Pike Messenger Bag, Made from Recycled Bike Tubes, BlackThe Pike Bag is almost perfect. Why?

The Love:

1. I love that this bag is made of recyclable materials, go Green! This is the main reason I bought it. More stuff should be made of recycled products YAY, Alchemy Goods!

2. Comfy shoulder strap I was quite surprise of how nice it fits on my shoulders, I enjoying wearing / carrying it. It is almost comfy enough to become an accessory to my outfit. Just kidding.

3. Velcro and clips work perfect on flip for however you want to secure the bag shut.

4. Easy zipper pocket for quick in and out.

5. Uh, it is Waterproof, this just keep getting better!

6. Strong adjustable strap and doesn't slip.

7. Quick easy access in and out of bag.

The Disappointments:

1. Like someone else said this bag is made for a 15" Laptop (I have 15" Macbook Pro), but it is a little bigger so the Velcro close piece is useless as the laptop covers it. Not a big deal as it is still pretty sung in the slot. However, it kind of defeats the purpose of having the Velcro strip.

2. Would expect a little more padding for the laptop slot at minimum on the backside and bottom of the slot.

Suggested Improvements:

1. Improve on the two disappointments noted above.

2. Add a couple of pen and pencil slots.

3. Add a slot for a sunglass case or can of soda on the outside ends.

4. Another zipper pocket for smart phones on the flip.

5. Add a handle so you can carry like a brief case. Just a small strap to grab a hold of it doesn't have to be very large or loose to get a whole hand.

I gave this a 4 because if I felt for it to be a truly excellent product it would have had a little more padding, in my opinion, around the laptop slot to be a proper laptop shoulder bag. All in all, I love it and recommend it to anyone and everyone. I am even thinking about the bigger messenger bag or Alchemy Good's smaller bags.

On a small note I usually don't take time to write reviews so the fact that I wrote this one says I truly like this product. I usually only write reviews for products that I think people should or recommend them to buy, or to stay away from because it is just horrible. Fortunately I have yet to come across the latter and I definitely recommend this product.

Got this bag about 6 mos ago for Xmas. As a Northwesterner, I walk/ride in the rain a lot and take my Macbook everywhere. This bag has yet to disappoint. There is plenty of room for a laptop, papers, a water bottle, pens, and other small stuff. My bag has never taken on water and it has been all but submerged (not quite submerged but out in a really bad rainstorm for well over an hour). The material is tough, durable, and looks good. A couple of small suggestions for improvement: a grab handle and a second (small) external zipper pocket. That's it...like I said this bag has yet to let me down.

I have had my pike bag for about 2 years now, and I love using it!

1. 67% recycled. Ag has a great model of taking one waste item and creating products out of it. We need more companies like them!

2. It's made out of bike tubes so its waterproof! It has held up very well in the 2 Bay Area rainy seasons It has gone through. My Macbook has yet to get damaged, although in one torrential downpour it got some condensation on the outside shell.

3. Reasonably comfortable! Perfect for commuting from class to class or from home to class, etc. Although If I was planning to wear it for more than an hour (with laptop and books), I would think about using a backpack.

4. Highly expandable! Don't be fooled by its size you can pack about 3-4 days worth of clothes in there WITH your laptop.

5. As other commenters have mentioned, the velcro around the laptop does not really do anything Even for a 13 inch macbook, but its not a huge issue just seems like a waste of velcro.

6. No bottle holder. BUT I have found that bottles fit perfectly in between the top of the bag, the strap, and my hip.

Overall a great bag, and if I had to do it again, I definitely would!

I totally dig my Alchemy Pike bag. At 48, bald, skinny & neat, I have to stick with dudely so as not to be mistaken. This bag fits the bill. And it fits everything I need to carry. From laptop to lunch. It's equally good on an airplane to Cabo. And the inner tubes remind me of my bike whenever we're separated.
