With some forward planning, you can pack your essentials in this front pack which is roomy and has enough inner and outer pockets and compartments to function as a daypack. I use it primarily on backpacking trips so that I don't have to break stride to fumble for maps, compass, knife, snacks, water, first-aid, etc. A very minor downside is the back horizontal strap tend to bunch but does_NOT interfere with its comfort.
Update. 01/20/12. The ribz I had must of been the first or second rev (got them early 2011)...I got a newer one and it's much better. I am changing from 3 stars to 4 stars, I'll reserve 5 stars for the new ones comming out in March.

I am super happy with this item! I needed a day pack that I could wear comfortably in a crowded area, sit easily without removing it (&%#@ those backpacks!), and get to items quickly without removing it. I can carry camera, cell, wallet, snacks,etc, and still have both hands free to corral a 5 year old! For anyone with a CHL ticket, it's perfect--the shape of items in the inner pockets are completely shielded by the outer pockets. I was concerned whether to order the small or the large,because I want to wear over jackets sometimes--and the "small" is perfect. I e-mailed the company for advice, and they replied quickly & completely. I'm an average sized woman, and even with a jacket, there is plenty of room in the straps to change sizes.
