Eagle Creek Travel Gear Tailfeather Waistpack

I found this in a local store on sale for under $14, but even at the $25 MSRP I think it is worth it.

This review is for the Small size. The larger compartment is large enough to take 16.9 fl.oz. (500ml) bottled water. The smaller compartment has another interior zippered mesh compartment for small items and a hook for keys.

The materials, zippers, and sewing are above average. This pack is not designed to carry heavy items like a firearm comfortably, as the strap is only 1" wide and not padded. Unlike many fanny / waist packs, the strap IS long enough to fit around most waists (I measured a little over 28" doubled over, so that would be up to a 56" waist).

I've used "waist/fanny packs" for 20 + years now and this particular one is the BEST hands down I've seen or used. Excellent design through & through as far as space in the compartments and the compartments themselves. The inside is padded very well. The belt, extra small fabric handle, the clasps & zippers... all top quality! I would not advise it but I was forced to use it to carry 14 lbs plus on two occasions and not only could I hold that amount of weight by the strap alone but also the small little fabric strap at the back, top ALONE! That is a testament to the quality of stitching and thread but the quality is found all thru this pack. I'm buying another right now.

I found this waist pack in a luggage store at a local mall. It was very pricey, the store was selling it at list price. I found it on Amazon for much less and after using my old fanny pack for about 20 years, I took the plunge and bought this one to replace it. I've used it many times already. I bought the medium size one which is more comparable in size to the one I had before. I bought it in black, although I really like the red clay/gray as well. I like the outside front zip pocket. It's a nice size. The main compartment has dual zippers which I absolutely love. It also has an inside zip compartment and a key fob to clip your keys on. Love that feature as well. I'm only 5'4" so it sits a little high when its on my waist, but I love the rectangle shape. The padding on the back keeps it from being limp when you have a lot in it or take it off and lay it down. And the mesh side pockets will hold about a 16 oz store bought water bottle. I put off buying a new one for many years because I couldn't find what I wanted. I'm glad I waited because I found this one and its absolutely wonderful.

This waist pack is good for a day hike, security on a city site seeing tour and carrying a compact camera. Well designed and good quality materials.
