Maxpedition COCOON POUCH

The Maxpedition Cocoon Pouch is an excellent modular add on accessory that will fit well on any Alice/MOLLE compatible product such as a backpack, water bottle holder, Gearslinger, etc.

The Cocoon is a utility pouch that comes with a very durable full length zipper. It is 2 inches in diameter x 8 inches long. You can use a 3 inch TacTie (sold separately) and the SlikClip is included.

Often times I will utilize two Cocoon Pouches: one dedicated to fire and one dedicated to food/water products.

Examples:

Cocoon Pouch for fire: contents include a Swedish Firesteel Army Model, petroleum cotton balls, water proof matches, Ultimate Survival Wet Fire Tinder and a lighter. Sometimes I will throw in Magnesium. Yes, multiple methods of starting a fire is important.

Cocoon Pouch for water/food: contents include a spork or other eating utensils, Aquamira Frontier Emergency Water Filter System, water purification tablets and an energy bar.

I use this to carry my pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, and other writing supplies. It's the perfect length and shape for them. (In terms of volume, it's easily large enough for a dozen ballpoint pens, but probably not large enough to accommodate a dozen Sharpie markers.)

I use 2 of these with my Maxpedition bottle holder. I keep paracord in them and they work great. These make a great addition to a survival set up using the bottle holder.

As small as this item is, is expands like a mini duffel bag to hold whatever you might throw in it. The bottom of the inside is flat and lined with a tough, rubbery lining like the outside bottom of some of Maxped's backpacks. This is a great size for an add-on for quick-use items like a headlamp and some batteries, since it isn't noticable and can hold quite a bit.
