The bag is made from a good quality canvas just as advert said, yes the straps are some what hard to figer out at first but if you have ever used a military type before you'll be just fine. The bag have THREE outer pouches not two!! The two on the side are narrow but deep, great for smaller items that tend to roll around or for a small water bottle. The one larger pouch is great for a med kit. the bag tends to hang loss on the back if its not full and makes running with it out of the question but if strap a belt around it its just fine. Its comfortable and feels like it should last a life time if you not plan on using it every day it a great day bag but should not be used as a hardcore hiking bag, if you're looking for a good bear-bones bag this is a great bag.
I spend a lot of time traveling and this backpack is great for the person on the go. The large main compartment makes it easy to pack or stuff full of whatever you need and the outter pockets hold quite a bit too. Great pack to just grab and go and it can be tossed in the wash if it gets gross.

This was much bigger than I thought! It would work well for hiking and camping overnight, but it only has the 2 outside pockets and none to speak of inside, so it's difficult to organize anything. Also it took awhile to figure out the closing buckles; at first they kept loosening under the weight of my gear, and due to their style, they're difficult to do and undo quickly. Finally worked out okay, but did not suit my purposes. Excellent service by seller, tho!
