The description of this bag explicitly states it is "All leather constructuion". And the price is consistent with what I'd expect to pay for real leather. However, it is not leather it is synthetic. The label in the bag states "This article contains NEW MATERIAL ONLY". Polyethylene foam, to be exact. Unfortunately I received the bag via a friend after the 60 day return period and the vendor would not accept the complaint.
I recently returned a McKlein Lake Forest series bag that was touted as great, and I found the design to be lacking function for day to day use-especially for the Chicago region. I am so glad I did, and tried this Jill-E bag. It has all the function the McKlein lacked. The main zipper covers the entire main compartment (go figure?). The short tote straps actually fit on the shoulder. (its tight, but secure). The longer strap can go from short to long enough for cross body wear (over a wool coat). The key ring and ID features are in the main compartment (much safer for a commuter). It looks very stylish, and smells great. The bag is softer leather. If it holds up to wear and tear, it is just about perfect. It is just about the same size and weight as the other one. The downside, it cost about $100.00 more. Make the investment -spend the money and get a bag you can use and you are happy with. I cannot wait to take this out tomorrow. I love it!
