This backpack is kind of Tardis! That's why:
1. It looks very slim and compact even filled up with a lot of stuff.
2. It has possibility to secure huge things outside of it.
I used hidden straps (designed to carry kneepads) and helmet pocket straps to transport my 150mm travel fork to the service without any difficulties.
And I even secured my 20" unicycle outside of it using these straps!
3. Even if specs say it's only 9 inches wide my 13" Macbook Air (9 inches wide) fits perfectly in the main compartment (I tried to find this info before my purchase, so hope it helps someone).
Overall it feels secure and very comfortable on the back, full or empty, even if you do aggressive riding! Highly recommended!

I've been through a number of different packs over the years and I've landed on Dakine as my favorite. They have sturdy construction and last quite a few years. This pack has some great features
Large main storage (I can fit my first aid, a jacket and a spare tube in here easily)
Secondary storage has smaller zipped pockets, pump sleeve, and additional mesh pocket
Sunglass pouch up top
Two side compartments (Great for GPS or cameras)
You can attach a regular or full face helmet (The full face helmet carry is awesome!)
Straps to carry your leg/arm armor
This is my third Dakine and my second Nomad. This version has some great changes over the prior version when it comes to positioning of storage. It has everything you need to ride a bike on any trails you would think of. A lot of room to every tool and extra items. Hydration provided and it's just fine! Buy it! Dakine rules!
