Outdoor Products Morph Daypack

Outdoor Products Morph DaypackBought this backpack at Walmart with hopes of going hiking and using the included water bladder setup (not sure if its included in Amazon deal). Ended up using this as my daily back pack for school, traveling, and grocery carrying. It held up decently though certain things started breaking pretty quickly. Here is the order in which things gave out along with approx. use time.

Things that broke list:

1. The chest strap that snap together to hold the shoulder straps. Gave out after 2 weeks.

2. Front white strech cords. Stretched completely out after first time I hung water bottle from them.

3. Cellphone holder. Came off one day and has been somewhere ever since. (3 months)

4. The bottom lining on inside. inside lining developed holes and allowed water to get in. 4 months

5. Baby carabiner. Gave out and snapped after being used to clip to bicycle basket. 5 months

6. Zippers on main compartment. First a zipper tassle broke off. (5 months) Then the other zipper separated from tracks. (8 months) Now I can only close it with the little bit of zipper left.

Pros:

This bag held up like a champ. From the day I got it, I was using it to haul HEAVY things. The straps are incredibly comfortable and have yet to give out. There is lower back padding that comes in very handy when carrying books or other squared off things. Its set up that the main storage area will hold a good deal of things but when you pack in the front pocket it extends into the main storage area. The loose stuff pocket is one of the best features of this bag. It will hold all your small necessities and its workable one handed. The front pocket has great organizer built in. The water bottle mesh pocket does what it should and can even hold a SIGG bottle when back pack is stuffed. The side cargo pockets (closed and mesh) both served admirably and held up. Inside the main compartment is a plastic hook onto which you hang your 1L hydration bladder. Setup is decent but the bladder falls off easily. There is a hole at the top of backpack for drinking tube. This backpack also comes with a audio player hanging pocket on the inside of main compartment. You can route the headphones either through the drink tube hole or the side earphones rubber gate. I found that it works better with the drink tube hole.

Cons:

The chest strap gave out way too soon. After that the back pack started to move around and would sometimes come off. The cellphone holder is unnecessary. Front pocket zipper is designed poorly since it has a canopy-like cover that prevents it from unzipping smoothly. The front pocket extends into the main cargo area. The back pack material is water resistant (I bike in the rain with it) but it did leak from the drink tube hole and mostly from the bottom due to wear holes. The reflective stripe under the loose stuff pocket wore off way to quickly. My back pack is orange on gray and the orange got filthied quick. Looks good about 4 feet away now. The zippers breaking like they did does show shoddy design but I did use it hard. Front elastic straps are useless. Baby carabiner is a toy meant to hold your key chains and get in the way.

Overall this is a solid performer. For the price, you cant go wrong here. It serves admirably as a student backpack, carry on luggage carrier, or grocery bag. It has held up to over 80 lbs in it and I was able to stuff it completely full with a surprisingly large amount of clothes. Treat the zippers with care and when you have it stuffed, compress it before zipping. Also treat the chest rig with care or it will snap off.

I have had this bag for about 6 years! It has worked great, love all the pockets. I have used if for over night trips, carry on bag when flying, and now I am using it for a diaper bag. I haven't had any issues with it. Great price for the bag!

I bought this to use for walking and hiking. I got it at WalMart. I think it was $15.

It worked pretty good as a basic smallish pack with a pocket for a hydration bladder. I used it for maybe a year just walking and hiking before I transitioned to a fanny pack as I decided I really did not need to cart so much stuff around with me.

I found it comfortable and never had any trouble with it.

ETA: 11-5-12

I gave it a good look over last night. I noticed the elastic cords on the back were fraying where they exit the eyelets. I gave one a tug and it broke. I had to cut the other one as it was not as frayed. I replaced the elastic cords with some para-cord. The elastic cords were a nice touch but I only used the loops to hang a pair of gloves and my dog's water dish from so elastic did not matter all the much to me.

I will be using it this winter for hiking so I can carry a little more than with just a fanny pack as I did last year. I felt just a little under equipped with just the fanny pack last winter.
