Ogio Newt II S Laptop/Tablet Backpack

Ogio Newt II S Laptop/Tablet BackpackI bought this backpack on amazon for college. I did a lot of research before my purchase, I didn't want my backpack falling apart on me again!

This backpack comes with several compartments, one for your laptop, sunglasses, plane tickets (I use this one for wires), tablet sleeve, and a nice compartment at the top for other smaller electronics such as a phone or camera. I use all of these compartments and they are wonderful. They are each lined with some fuzzy material to prevent scratching. I don't even need a laptop sleeve anymore! (Perfect for the electronic maniac like me.)

This backpack has some serious stitching, I pack everything in here and not one seem out of place. It has foam lined straps and foam lining the back area (where the backpack rests against your back). This can be a real life saver when your campus is over a mile long.

Overall it is top of the line quality. There is one fairly large compartment for storing textbooks and what not, and it's all I really need. It may be a bit small for some, this is no camping backpack. I'm able to fit two full sized text books, and four notebooks in there. This compartment also has the tablet sleeve in it.

I'm not sure if I'm missing anything... The material is of great quality, it doesn't show stains much (it rains mud where I live), I haven't attempted washing it or anything yet. Still looks brand new and I've had it for about four months.

All in all I highly recommend this product. Order in advance m the shipping can take a while, but it is well worth it.

Edit 6/10/2013

I've had this backpack for just about a year now. I've taken it with me everywhere. I've even been using it for light travel. Nothing has torn, nothing has ripped. Everything still looks fairly new. (And this is after I brutally drug it through a dusty canyon)

During finals, I maxed the crap out of this backpack with equipment, and still had room to spare. Camcorder, camera, wacom tablet, nexus 7, 15 inch laptop, 3DS, safely stored safey goggles in the sunglasses compartment, game controller, loads of pens, and arts supplies in the front pocket, 2 one inch thick textbooks, and up to 4 notebooks (bounded). I could have possibly fit even more. The weight was tremendous, yet I didn't experience excruciating back pain as the weight is distributed well. The straps can help move some of the weight to your center. The strain of all this weight for my previous backpacks would have left them in shreds by the end of the week (I mainly used Swiss backpacks through high school).

The backpack is easy to surface wash, and the color I purchased (cereal) shows little dirt. I accidentally got melted crayon on it at one point, but that all came out without an issue with just a warm wet cloth, same goes with pen markings.e

The only issue is the soft material that lines electronic pockets has began to wear down. That's really it. If you have electronics that have exposed screens, such as a tablet, then I would eventually get a case for it, just to be extra careful not to scratch the screen. (I still don't use a case for my laptop, as the built in sleeve still works wonderfully)

Now let me just say that after I while, I tend to get very rough with my backpacks. It's typical for a backpack to last me just over a semester before I end up using a cheaper, and even worse quality bag to get me through the year. I throw them on the floor, sit on it, grind it up on cement, load it up with as much crap as possible, sling it around everywhere, jog with it, brutally shove sharp notebooks in, you name it. However, despite all the abuse, this backpack still looks brand spanking new, and I am not purchasing a new bag for the next academic semester. This is the first time I've ever had a bag that will probably last me 2, even 3 or more years. The material they use is of very durable quality, and the stitching is just beyond impeccable.

I'll be uploading pictures of my bag so check them out.

I ordered this backpack because I am deployed and I needed something that I could carry my whole day around in. This fits the bill just right. I am a female of smaller stature so I also wanted something that I could lug around comfortably. The should straps are comfortable and have a good bit of padding and I am sure when I get home that I will use the phone holder on one of the straps. I like that the computer compartment is separate from the main compartment and I really like the side zip option. I have 15" computer and there is more than enough room, plus all the compartments are lined with a soft liner that is anti-static. I love that. There is plenty of padding in the computer compartment and I don't feel like my computer will get damaged when I set it down and swing the backpack around. There are two nice compartments in front of the main compartment to hold all my gadgets, cords, pens, lotion, external drives, etc. There is also a small compartment at the top, near the handle, that holds my mouse. It is a well made product. The zippers are smooth and the stiching is very nice. I really think this backpack will last me for the rest of my life. I am not kidding, it is really well made and I am very hard on backpacks, especially in this environment. The product was shipped to my house, they won't ship to an APO, bummer, but it arrived there in a timely manner.

I'm a college student who was looking for a light, comfortable, durable, and spacious backpack. I initially got the Newt II Mono, but ended up getting this backpack because the Mono was hurting my neck. I love this bag it's pretty much the perfect backpack for what I need.

Light definitely. The sternum strap helps distribute the weight more evenly and that in combination with the two shoulder straps (as opposed to the Mono's one strap) let me load this bag up with a ton of stuff and still feel light. Now if this thing had a waist strap it would be epic but it'd probably look dumb. Hey, aesthetics are important too, right?

Comfortable absolutely. I think someone mentioned the padding was cheap I politely beg to differ. My bag looks nothing but premium and feels accordingly. I walk around all day with a ton of stuff in this bag and get almost zero back pain (I carry a ton of stuff so it's inevitable).

Durable yup. Both the Ogio Newt II Mono and the Newt II S are made of the same nylon-synthetic-ballistic-whatever material, and the stitching is top-notch. Again, like the Mono, I would have liked a skid layer on the bottom, but the material is thick and strong so I'm not too worried.

Spacious dude. So many pockets. So much space. I can carry a 1" textbook, two notebooks, my tablet, my netbook, my lap desk for my netbook, all my electronic accessories (chargers, headphones, etc.)...and still have some room. It's ridonkulous.

The bag does everything I need and more, and it looks sweet. Totally worth the $70 I paid for it.
