This was ordered for my then son 6, now 7, and he loves it. I had to talk him into a pack pack that wasn't Mario, but he loved this one. He likes the Lego figures, so this one fit the bill. It is plenty roomy enough for his two books plus his lunch box and jacket in the afternoons. It fit just fine on my skinny little boy. We are very happy with it.

Purchased for 6yo kindergartener. December holiday gift. By April with normal, no abusive use, with light or moderate items inside: holes in mesh side pockets, color worn off piping on bottom. One of straps, lower adjustable portion unraveled badly and had to be trimmed. Bottom of main cargo area showed signs of starting to become thread bare. Saddest part is he really likes it.Manufacturers: If u build a quality product, the consumers will buy. My daughter's LL Bean backpack endured 3+ years of school use. She decided to abandon it because she felt she had outgrown the color.
