Alite Design Hiraki Convertible Day Pack - Versatile and Transformer - Can Be Used As Backpack, Tot

Alite Design Hiraki Convertible Day Pack - Versatile and Transformer - Can Be Used As Backpack, Tote, and Cross-bodyI have the previous model of this pack, which does not have the cross-body strap and looks a little different, but I think most of my complaints apply to this model as well. It's a cute pack, and I like the idea of a pack that converts into a tote. It just doesn't work that well in practice. The straps make it hard to get big things into / out of the pack. If you keep the sternum strap on (it's removable, and I removed mine), you can't pull the shoulder straps up very far to work as tote handles. Also, when I'm at the farmer's market or on campus, it's a pain to have to take the pack all the way off my back to access the main pocket I can't swing it around on one shoulder to get into the pocket, or have someone else get something for me, because the straps pull the pack closed. (On the other hand, this makes me feel like things are a little more secure in there while I'm wearing the pack.)

All that said, it's not a terrible pack. It seems well-made, the bright colors are fun, and it's unique. I like supporting relatively small, local (to SF) businesses. I don't regret spending $55 on the old model closeout, but I'm not sure I would spend the full $80.

I do like that they added the cross-body strap and a side pocket on this model those seem like improvements over the model I have for sure.

I agree with the previous person. The price is not cheap but all ALITE design products are not cheap. I bought this one from a trade show and used it since then. Solid material and very comfortable and smart design. People always ask me where I got it when we were at local farmer's market. The regular store recycle bags are cheap looking not elegant, this one is great.
