Madagascar 16 Inch Backpack - Here Comes Trouble

Madagascar 16 Inch Backpack - Here Comes TroubleWe are a big fan of Madagascar, so my son wanted me to get one of this backpack for him. I have to tell you most of these bags don't last for a long time, because kids like to through them on the floor, kick them, what ever you can imagine. I am very satisfied with this bag, because it holds like new since the beggining of the year and let me tell you, it's a miracle!

This is an excellent gift idea to anyone who adores penguins, especially the ones who star in the famous film Madagascar. Even the adults will find this cute backpack useful and very handy. It is very spacious and the material is durable. I think that it can carry all the necessities that I need for an overnight trip to the beach or the campsite. I really love this and I'm glad that I got this for a gift last holiday season.

I have a nephew who is crazy about the movie Madagascar. I still didn't know what to give him for Christmas until I came across this backpack. One look and I knew that I found the perfect gift for him. He already goes to school as a pre-schooler and I am sure that he will find great use of this bag. But what's more important is that he will find it fun and hip. I can already see him showing it off!

My son loves Penguins of Madagascar, and this backpack is perfect for kindergarten! A little pricey, but it looks like it will hold up for the whole year, maybe even beyond.

TopCase® Turquoise Blue Sleeve Bag Cover Case for All Macbook Air 11-inch 11" (A1370 and A1465) wi

TopCase® Turquoise Blue Sleeve Bag Cover Case for All Macbook Air 11-inch 11' with TopCase® Logo Mouse Padgreat color and a nice texture. fits macbook air 11.6 inch really well even with a hard case already on the computer

Price is right for decent padded protection for an 11-inch MacBook Air, and the Air fits easily in this sleeve even with a protective hard "shell" also installed on it. I wasn't crazy about the color but at time of purchase (May 2013) this was the only color I could find in this (low) price range. Upon receiving it I realized I could turn the entire sleeve inside out and then have a black sleeve (the interior color) with bluish trim. The interior seams are neat enough to suit me even used this way.

The North Face Heckler Daypack - Men's

The North Face Heckler Backpack BlackThis backpack is great if you are a college student like myself. It is very durable. It is great if you want to use it for backpacking because you can extend it to fit in anything from a paper and pencil to loads of textbooks and clothes. It looks great, feels great when you wear it, and it even has a big pocket inside where you can fit a medium size laptop (with plenty of space left over for books) and take it on the go.

I had it for about eight months so far and I could not be more happier with it.

only buy this if you're tall. for a small girl, this backpack looks ridiculous on my back. i like that there are compartments and a laptop holder, but it's too big for me. recommended for those who need to hold a lot of stuff and who want a very large and long backpack

We looked at a number of backpacks before purchasing this North Face Heckler. The quality is amazing and the variety of colors made chosing somewhat difficult. The size is perfect for my son's needs. He especially likes the color (chili pepper red/asphalt gray) and the number of compartments. Great value and price.

Eddie Bauer Diaper Bags Eddie Bauer Cosmopolitan Messenger Diaper Bag

Eddie Bauer Cosmopolitan Messenger BagThe bag is big enough and has great accessories with it to make it a functional diaper bag and purse. I love the detachable zippered pouch inside.

I absolutely cannot stand the material it is made of though. I searched for a fabric bag (not leather) that would work as a diaper bag and purse. This is more like plastic than fabric. The changing pad inside is made of 100% polyeurethane foam covered with 100% polyester. Given that changing pad feels the same as the rest of the bag, I'm betting it is all polyester. The strap is made of the same plastic-y feeling material as the bag but it is sharp and uncomfortable on bare skin when it is fully loaded for a toddler and an infant (the strap rubbed my skin raw). The shoulder pad on the strap is a great idea, but it slides and twists upside down very easily. It doesn't even stay in place when I'm just wearing the bag one shoulder or cross body and walking. It still slides all over.

If this had actually been made out of a soft cotton type fabric instead of plastic-like polyester material it would be immeasurably better.

This bag gets three stars because it is a good bag (great pockets, size, accessories, design), if you don't care about the awful material. I will be buying another bag very soon that is made of a softer real fabric because this material has scraped me and rubbed me raw FAR too many times and I've only had the bag about 2 weeks. I might not notice the problem so much in the winter when I'm wearing heavier clothes, but almost constantly adjusting the bag, strap, and shoulder pad is driving me nuts right now.

My son didn't want to carry a floral diaper bag so we ordered this for him. It holds all the baby gear plos his I pad

K-Cliffs Black Outdoor Backpack/ Biking Backpack/ Messenger Backpack/ Cross Shoulder Backpack

K-Cliffs Black Outdoor Backpack/ Biking Backpack/ Messenger Backpack/ Cross Shoulder BackpackThis backpack makes a great alternative to messenger bags as long as you don't need to find anything in a hurry. There is one medium-sized main compartment (big enough for a 2" binder and some books or as a standard overnight bag) and a tiny little front zippered compartment that could barely fit my phone and keys. The on-strap cell phone compartment is too deep and would only be convenient for gigantic Zack-Morris-style cell phones (or MP3 players, which is what I tend to use it for). When the main compartment is full, the zippered area on the front is very difficult to access. If you're looking for something in the main compartment, be prepared to empty the contents to find it, as the physical orientation of the bag does not allow for easy searching. I also get the impression that this bag will not be with me longer than a couple of years, as the construction reminds me of the old $10 Jansport backpacks that would barely make it through a school year's worth of abuse.

Despite all these negatives, I still give it 4 stars because it is exactly what it's supposed to be. At $13, it still is a great deal and does the job it's meant to do. It's easy to pack in a hurry, it's super-comfortable even with pretty heavy loads, and the over-the-shoulder arrangement means you can flip the bag to your front to access it without taking it off, which is really helpful. I wouldn't recommend it for an everyday bag just because there's no organization and it drives me nuts just trying to find a pen in there, but it's awesome for overnights, classes, the gym, and study sessions. Know what you're buying, don't expect glitz and glamour, but still consider this bag if it looks like it might suit your needs.

IT IS A GREAT BACK PACK WITH ALL LITLLE COOL COMPARTMENTS. BUT WHEN I PUT MY BOOKS AND FOLDERS IN IT BENDS THEM.

This bag is phenomenal for the price, but after about 4-5 months of daily use, it started to show signs of heavy wear. Granted, I used the thing constantly for classes and work. But now the strap won't stay locked and the inside material is peeling off, leaving its residue on everything. For 12.50, you get what you pay for. It's a great bag providing you use it lightly or do not require it to last forever.

Note: It's big enough to fit a notebook and a couple half inch binders, but anything beyond that will not fit.

Great bag with plenty of room. My only complaint is that it sits on the left shoulder. Being that I'm right handed it would have been more helpful if it was to sit on the right shoulder. Overall good buy.

Backpack - Dora The Explorer - Forest

Backpack - Dora The Explorer - ForestMy neice loves Dora and loves this backpack, she puts everything in it. It was a little large for her at the age of two , but will grow with her nicely.

A big hit for the new preschooler! It's been used for a few months, going back and forth to preschool and weekend parent stays. The backpack has held up nicely.. Roomy enough for nap blanket, snacks, and "stuff" that kids collect and carry.

Alite Design Hiraki Convertible Day Pack - Versatile and Transformer - Can Be Used As Backpack, Tot

Alite Design Hiraki Convertible Day Pack - Versatile and Transformer - Can Be Used As Backpack, Tote, and Cross-bodyI have the previous model of this pack, which does not have the cross-body strap and looks a little different, but I think most of my complaints apply to this model as well. It's a cute pack, and I like the idea of a pack that converts into a tote. It just doesn't work that well in practice. The straps make it hard to get big things into / out of the pack. If you keep the sternum strap on (it's removable, and I removed mine), you can't pull the shoulder straps up very far to work as tote handles. Also, when I'm at the farmer's market or on campus, it's a pain to have to take the pack all the way off my back to access the main pocket I can't swing it around on one shoulder to get into the pocket, or have someone else get something for me, because the straps pull the pack closed. (On the other hand, this makes me feel like things are a little more secure in there while I'm wearing the pack.)

All that said, it's not a terrible pack. It seems well-made, the bright colors are fun, and it's unique. I like supporting relatively small, local (to SF) businesses. I don't regret spending $55 on the old model closeout, but I'm not sure I would spend the full $80.

I do like that they added the cross-body strap and a side pocket on this model those seem like improvements over the model I have for sure.

I agree with the previous person. The price is not cheap but all ALITE design products are not cheap. I bought this one from a trade show and used it since then. Solid material and very comfortable and smart design. People always ask me where I got it when we were at local farmer's market. The regular store recycle bags are cheap looking not elegant, this one is great.

ECBC Poseidon Messenger Bag for 13-Inch Laptop (K7202-10) - Black

ECBC Poseidon Messenger Bag for 13-Inch Laptop - BlackThis bag fits my needs.

My 11" Mac Book Air fits with plenty of room.

And most importantly I can hold my large Thermos water bottle on the side.Thermos Vacuum Insulated 18-Ounce Stainless-Steel Hydration Bottle

Checkout this video to see all the pockets inside: http://youtu.be/bwcfkZ84S80

I've had my ECBC Poseidon Messenger Bag for about 6 months and love it! It looks stylish in an understated way and I get tons of compliments on it. I discovered it by reading a great review online that convinced me to get one.

The quality of material is excellent and I can tell you from personal experience that it is water resistant, as promised. The interior design was really well thought through. It's big enough to hold up to a 13" MacBook Pro, and is well padded on both sides to keep my investment protected. The bottom of the compartment holds an inch-thick modular padded insert that's removable if you're using a 13" MacBook Pro, but stays in there if you have a smaller laptop like an 11" MacBook Air. It has enough room to hold my iPad (in addition to my laptop), and there are A LOT of other pockets to hold more stuff like power cords, etc. It also slides securely over my rolling luggage handle when traveling and fits easily under airplane seats.

Well padded, lots of compartments, holds my stuff. Looks good too. If you have to carry a murse then this is manly enough.

I bought this based on pictures alone. Unfortunately, the bag is way to small to fit anything in it. A couple of pencils and small pieces of paper will be the limit. The compartments on the inside of the bag are so tight that you cannot fit anything that is wide or has some depth to it. If all you need is your laptop and some pens and pencils, this bag is for you. If you need more space for files, this isn't for you.

I purchased a Skooba v.3 Mini after trying this bag out, and that bag is actually smaller than this messenger bag, but is constructed much better and allows for more storage. So if you need to fit more thicker items and papers into a bag, check out Skooba. Otherwise, this bag is good for carrying a laptop, a cell phone, and some pens.

Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack in Lake Como Roll

Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack in Lake Como RollThis bag is one of my favorite things. I love the color and style. The straps detach and reattach easily depending if you want to use as a shoulder bag or a backpack. it doesn't look huge, but holds a ton of stuff. The diaper change pouch is very convenient, and it also came with a wipes container. I would definitely recommend this bag to any mom looking for an attractive and functional diaper bag.

I bought this item prior to my baby's arrival and couldn't wait to try it out. Now that he is here and I have been using it, i wouldn't want to use any other bag. It has plenty of room for my son's items. I love the adjustable straps and the attached changing pad. The only somewhat bad thing about it I would say is the velcro is kind of loud when opening the bag but at least it holds the bag closed. Can't complain!

I've wanted a Petunia Pickle Bottom baby bag since I heard about them 8 years ago. I have a laptop bag that has the look of a Petunia Pickle bottom (i.e. a nice, jacquard damask fabric look) and someone commented 8 years ago asking if it was a Petunia Pickle Bottom--which it was not. I looked up what she was talking about, and saw awesome baby bags that looked like my laptop bag which I got complimented on all of the time. I decided that when I finally was having a baby, I needed this bag! I got it, I love it and its awesome. :)

Love the hands-free messenger style of this bag. The colors and pattern are unique and stylish. I've received several compliments on it. Lots of room, a hook for your keys, pockets for all of your things. Option to wear it as a backpack is cool. The attached fold-out changing pad is great! It comes in handy when using the cold, hard changing tables in public restrooms. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the velcro; it's really loud when pulling it open, and it startles my baby awake if I'm not extra careful. Other than that, it's perfect! Very happy with my purchase.

The North Face Terra 65

Thorn Green LargeHello Everyone,

I guess I will be the first to review this item. I want to go over in detail on the extremities I put this backpack through and what I have planned for the future with this pack.

I went on a 2 day hike with my father-in-law up the Estrella mountain in Phoenix, AZ. The mountain peak is over 4500 ft in elevation and base starts at just around 1100 ft. I purchased this backpack specifically for this trip and I am glad to say I will be using this backpack more in the future. I don't take hiking lightly and this backpack held up to my specs. If you are interested in the conditions I put this backpack through than read the next paragraph. If not than skip to the pros and cons below:

As previously stated my father-in-law and I went on a hike that was around 3500 ft change in elevation. We were in the dead middle of the desert hiking this mountain. There are no streams, rivers, or lakes nearby. We had to carry everything from water, rope, tent, sleeping bag, weapons (rattle snakes, coyotes, mountains lions, etc), change of clothes, food, etc. . The trip was routed for around 12-13 miles in total hike, 45 lbs packs (each), and all rocky terrain. This backpack has some pros and cons I would like to cover. This backpack was placed on the rocks and was pressed against the mountain as we were resting.

Pros:

Great Padding

Great back support

Great hip strap

Great chest strap

A lot of space

Lightweight

A lot of options for adjustments to get comfortable

Solid and reliable material

Cons:

It would be nice to have quick access pockets on the hip pads

The mesh material to hold water bottles on the sides of the backpack do not work well if the backpack is full

The storage area for the water reservoir (camelback) is to low and serves no point as the hook for the camelback sits up much higher. (It does work well for back up camelbacks to be stored).

I gave this product 4 stars and would suggest this product to anyone. I enjoy using this backpack and I am soon going to be using this backpack on my trip down to the bottom of the grand canyon. I have no fear that this backpack will do me great justice.

After living/working in Africa, Europe, Asia, The Middle East, Central America and, of course, the U.S, having kit that I can rely upon, to function in the best and worst of conditions, is essential. This pack is CAVERNOUS, and holds everything I need for 5-7 days in "the bush", it customizes to my frame easily (5'8" 79kg), dries quickly, and with a little water proofing, keeps things relatively dry. The side zipper is good for access, but not great, and the sleeping bag compartment can hold a blanket NOT a sleeping bag just FYI. That being said, if the zippers were a little heavier, like REI puts on most of their packs, I'd give this bag 5 stars. It's light, strong, durable and worth every penny regardless of how serious/recreational the user might be.

Buy The North Face Terra 65 Now

I just returned from a two day hiking/backpacking trip and the pack preformed great. It's well padded and it had plenty of room for everything that I had with me. I especially liked the stretchy pouch on the outside of the pack. I was able to stuff it full of a lot of extras I needed to keep handy.

(I am neither a North Face employee, nor an associate, so I don't have to use the "The").

I have been a North Face customer for more than 30 years, during which time North Face changed from a technical outdoors and climbing company to a worldwide mass marketer of urban fashion clothing, daypacks, and yes, technical and climbing equipment which doesn't comprise a big part of their revenue anymore. I have my own fashion, I don't buy North Face for that in fact, if I could pay extra to get their logo off my equipment, I would. I hate being a walking advertisement.

Yes, their stuff is expensive, even the consumer stuff, and is generally well made with attention to the kind of detail that really matters out in the heat, cold and wet. If it is critical equipment, buy the best.

I recently bought the Terra 65 to do a little walking in the US western Cascades range. Haven't had it out yet, but it looks decently made. However, unpacking and examining the Terra raised some issues that have annoyed me for some time.

1. No instructions or advice included with the product.

OK, I know what an ice axe loop is for (salesman identified it as a walking stick loop) and how to use one. The various pockets and straps were somewhat more obscure and took some exploring. Why not include a pamphlet extolling the features built in to the pack so I get them all at once? There's a mysterious plastic clip at the top of the main compartment apparently for a camelbak bladder with a small opening for the mouth tube. It should be a carabiner or other metal fastener -the plastic is bound to break -but the real issue is that North Face does NOT INCLUDE ANY INSTRUCTIONS OR DETAILED INFORMATION with its equipment. The apparent attitude is "we're so good we don't have to explain ourselves if you don't know or can't figure it out, tough toenails". The website is no better very heavy on lifestyle marketing, useful information not so much. The snooty waiter approach, in other words.

2. The European and UK version of this pack comes with a terrific rain cover which wraps around the back and protects the pack from torrential rains. It is not available in the US, either as an option or separate item and not even mentioned on the North Face website. Why? I know it rains in the US, I just came in out of a thunderstorm a few hours or so. Do Europeans get wetter than Americans?

3. The pack comes with an adjustable torso system, but no instructions on how to determine your torso length or how to adjust it (hint: there is a hidden velcro strip behind the frame which must be separated and a cam on the bottom of the pack frame). Again, no instructions included, nothing on the website, but vacuous videos demonstrating how good you and your girlfriend will look on rugged terrain wearing your pack with Opti-Fit technology.

4. The North Face "lifetime guarantee" has turned into a "lifetime of the product" guarantee. A delightful bit of recursion which basically means "when we get tired of fixing it, you're out of luck".

Now some of this information may be on bulletin boards and retailers web sites (and in fact is, if you spend a half hour googling). And it's stuff you can figure out eventually, even if you don't have subscriptions to 7 outdoor magazines full of more lifestyle marketing. But why should you have to??

CONCLUSION:

The pack pretty good

The attitude stinks

this back pack first of all is simply amazing and highly customizible so no matter if you are 11 or 42 this back pack will fit with alittle ajusting and another thing is theres no problem with the waterbottle holder and no problem with the camelback area it is a great backpack to have for the price and it is also very cofortable and very durable so if you are contiplating on what backpack to buy this is the obvious choice i hope this review was helpful and enjoy your new terra 65 by tnf

Urban Junket t.o.t.e. Laptop Tote 15"

Urban Junket t.o.t.e. Laptop Tote 15'I purchased my bag 2.5 years ago after researching lots of different options. What I liked about the Urban Junket bags are how stylish they are yet functional all while being eco-friendly. I had problems with the zipper, though. This caused me to not use the bag as often as I would like. On my last business trip, the zipper totally broke. I contacted their customer support department to see if I could get the zipper repaired and they instead replaced the entire bag and shipped it to me via Fed Ex. Wow... that was totally above and beyond what I would've expected. The new bag arrived and uses a totally different zipper that appears to be better constructed. I'm now using this as my everyday bag for work.

CaseCrown Memory Foam Pocket Case (Alligator Hot Pink) for 15 Inch Laptop

CaseCrown Memory Foam Pocket Case for 15 Inch LaptopI LOVE THIS PRODUCT! It's the perfect size for a laptop that is 15.6" in size or smaller. It has a front pocket for any cords or accessories that you may need to carry around as well. The foam inside is snugg fitting and protects my laptop very well. It is also very stylish and the pink alligator-like skin is a very nice touch. I have been shopping around for a long time for a laptop bag and I have purchased about 3 so far; prices ranging from $45 $90, and I have been the most satisfied with this one. One of my most favorite things about this product is the removable strap, so you can choose to either carry it like a brief case or if you want to get a little more stylish you can use it with the strap on your shoulder for a more sophisticated look. I love this product and I am 110% satisfied with it!

This case was exactly the item I was looking for. My laptop fits perfectly in the case; it has the memory foam which protects and cushions the laptop, and it zippers up to a compact case.

It also has a strap to fit over your shoulder, and it is made well.

I would recommend this case!

I bought a CaseCrown netbook case and was so thrilled that I wanted to find a larger version for my 15.6" laptop. This design is excellent! (Hence, "great design"). It fit everything, including my extra bulky extended-life battery and the power cord. It looks slim, but the sides seem to be slightly gusseted to allow for expansion. Fabulous and exactly what I was looking for!

But, here's the "terrible design" part. If you're not a fan of BRIGHT pink, this is not the case for you. The picture looks pretty bright and it's even worse (or better...depending on your taste) in person. The inside is REALLY hot pink and so is the strap. Coupled with the faux alligator print on the case and it makes the whole thing look cheap. I'm returning this version and will buy a plain black one. It's not nearly as fun sounding, but at least it won't scream "LAPTOP!!"

Lipault Paris 18 Inch Weekend Satchel, Black, MediumPurchased two of these in Purple and Grey for a recent trip to Hawaii. Love them! They are well constructed carry on pieces. Very roomy on the inside with pockets for various items. The colors are vibrant and overall the bag has a very elegant simplicity to it. Perfect for short trips or as an additional carry on piece to compliment your luggage set. I particularly appreciate that the bag has a strip across the back that allows you to slide it over the handle of your rolling luggage to hold it in place so that it doesn't slide all over the place or fall off when you are pulling your luggage around. This feature alone sold the bag for me. Materials are lightweight and durable. Very impressed with these very smart looking bags.

WB Tweety Birds Plush Backpack

WB Tweety Birds Plush BackpackThis "backpack" is not a backpack at all. It is a stuffed toy that can be carried by backpack straps (or a hand loop).

The zipper's max opening is about 4 1/4 inches -less than the width of a small index card.

Open the zipper and you find a piece of thin but very strong fabric sewn firmly into both sides of the zipper, sealing off the inside irrevocably.

So, I thought, am I missing something? Is there a realistic opening somewhere?

NO.

Cut open the fabric that seals off the inside of the object and you find not the expected support of crumpled paper or the like, but tightly packed dense, springy, synthetic stuffing. Lots of it.

Take out the stuffing and the flimsy "plush" collapses flatter than a plastic grocery bag. The piece that keeps you from getting into the pack is far firmer and stronger than the toy's covering (a lightly napped very thin fabric).

I could barely get my not very large hand through the opening. My 3 year old granddaughter could, or could drop a Lego block into it, but if she did she probably couldn't reach to the bottom of the sack to get it out.

I got this for my husband (a retired college professor and Tweety enthusiast) for a sort of whimsical birthday present, as I have two real backpacks about this size and find them very useful. I can't imagine that this thing would be good for anything, for anyone of any age.

I see nothing in the description that says that this is a stuffed toy that can be carried on the back, that there is no functional opening, or that the object is not intended for use as a backpack in the sense of something to carry things in, as it clearly was not. I can only take this to be deliberate deception. Anyone lives in the West has heard the story of the local "haystack rock" -the huge rock covered thinly with hay and sold to the naive Easterner as a haystack.

Buy this and you can have your very own haystack rock, or should I say Tweety haystack.

Thankful as I am for Amazon's return policies, I'm not sure I'll be able to return this, as I had to mutilate it to find that it was a stuffed toy, not a backpack.

I hope Amazon's description checking people will put this company and this brand on a Red List and check any other objects they may be trying to foist off on trusting Amazon customers against the descriptions.

My daughter loves this but the pocket in the head is rather small and hardly fits any of her stuff she tries to put in it. Great otherwise.

Embassy 23" Leather Backpack

Embassy 23' Leather BackpackThis backpack had lots of room but fell apart from the bottom. My daughter is in 7th grade and has a lot of homework, I needed something big and sturdy, but only got the big part. The leather on the bottom gets scraped off, should be reinforced. The wheels are really loud. Would not purchase again.

The leather backpack is soft, large, lots of room for all you need to carry.

It rolls great and the wheels are sturdy. It is very well made.

You just could not do any better then this one.

The last one I had lasted six years, with very rough treatment.

I loved it so much, that I had to get another one.

Look no further, this is the best of it's kind

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend who is going back to school. He loved it and said it has a lot of compartments which he really likes. It is well made and the fact that it can roll and has a telescoping handle means he is gonna use it for a carry on when he flies too.

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Backpack

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Backpack, Lagoon Blue, Small/ MediumI purchased this backpack for a month-long trip to India. After obsessively reading many different backpack reviews, I settled on this one for the optional detachable day pack and it's compact size. I was able to fit everything I needed into this pack and had no difficulties using the entire bag as a carry-on for the plane rides.

When traveling by train, I took advantage of the lockable zippers. I found that using packing cubes helped significantly when moving in and out of different places.

I am 5'6" and was fitted at a local store before purchasing the small size.

I got this pack about six months ago before a trip through Central America. I really liked the panel zipper to open it from the side (not top loading) which made it really easy to get to stuff. It is a really lightweight pack. It is also convenient to zip away the back straps if you want to check it when flying. I think the pack with the daypack detached could pass as a carry on. I thought the daypack was a little small, but honestly it is probably better to stop me from bringing things I don't need on day trips.

I am a female 5ft7in approx 150lbs and I think this pack is the perfect size for me. I could carry it easily. However, I mainly carry just clothes and toiletries around (no camping, hiking gear), so you may want to look at other packs if you are looking to carry all that stuff. If you are debating between the 55L and 70L, I would go with the 55L because it will help you limit yourself and travel light.

I would also recommend getting packing cubes. They work great! Overall, I love this osprey pack and would highly recommend it. Osprey also has a terrific warranty.

Went on a 2 week backpacking adventure through South East Asia. Wanted something light, strong, highly functional, and just big enough but not too big that I can't carry it on. The Osprey Fairpoint 55 did not disappoint. Took it right into the cabin with me on my trans-Pacific flight and right into the cabin in small jets to small prop planes too. Never an issue. Plus, if the pack gets a bit too big and you think you'll get flagged to check it in when you check in, you just snap off the small backpack and just carry it in the other hand.

It's very, very well engineered and SUPER light. Very comfortable to wear as well for longer periods of time.

If you're looking to do a few weeks and are an efficient packer, definitely consider this pack. It's quality

I used this backpack for 3 weeks traveling around new zealand and it was perfect. The removable day pack was great for short trips to the beach. I also really liked the color.

SwissGear Laptop Backpack - Blue/ Silver

SwissGear Laptop Backpack - Blue/ SilverBasic run-down... This backpack is well-constructed, very sturdy, and comfortable to use. I like cool colors, so I find the color scheme attractive and sufficiently low-key. The straps are wide near the top and impressively padded. Even when loaded to capacity (which is deceptively large-this backpack is huge!), it exerts minimal pressure on my shoulders. The back is also heavily padded and purportedly better ventilated, but it doesn't mean you won't sweat like crazy on a hot, humid day. (: Despite the daily abuse I inflict upon it, the backpack shows very little wear.

And... Swiss Gear does NOT advertise this as waterproof or -resistant, and even goes as far to say "spot-cleaning only." But between you and me... (: I've gotten caught in the rain--and I'm talking 100% drenched to the skin-several times. The backpack is indeed quite water-resistant. The top edges of my notebooks in the main zipper got a bit damp, as did the objects in the frontmost pocket, but everything else (including my computer) stayed relatively safe and dry.

As a college student, I carry my new lightweight laptop everywhere I go-it's my baby. (: So I wanted to keep it safe from spiral-bound books and other scary scratchy things. This backpack has a laptop pouch in the main compartment plenty big enough for my 13" computer. There's a velcro strap for added security. I never use it, however, as my computer stays put and is still in perfect condition. I also love the included key fob. I added it to my keychain, and now I always know where my keys are-no digging through a stuffed bag. (: The actual clip mechanism also shows no sign of wear-my bike lock's key is nearly destroyed, but the backpack clip looks perfect. (Another testament to Swiss Gear's quality. They don't cut corners anywhere!)

I also carry a menagerie of pens, pencils, and highlighters in the organizer pocket. My only complaint here is that writing utensils don't like to stay in their holders unless they're clipped in. As a result, my pens and pencils tend to collect in the largest pocket, and I have to dig around for the one I need. It helps to put two pens in the same holder, but again, they eventually migrate to the big pocket. (: Another thing I like is the "hidden" zipper compartment on the front of the backpack. In theory, it's a great place to put things like your wallet, checkbook, etc. to hide them from pickpockets, but if your entire backpack is stolen, it's safe to assume you won't see these things again. (: So this is a pretty neutral feature, I suppose.

This backpack has two drawstring-style drink holders. I usually carry a large, top-heavy container. I'm paranoid and frequently check to make sure I've still got it, but I have yet to see it fall out. As an extra precaution, I'd pull the drawstring tight. (:

And now... The bad. I can only think of a quote from A Very Potter Musical:

"You know who I think is the ugliest girl in school? That Hermione Granger. You know what I'd give her on a scale of 1 to 10-where 1 would be the ugliest and 10 is pretty? I would give her... an 8. ...8.5... NOT over a 9.8. Because there is always room for improvement."

1) The backpack is really front-heavy when sitting on the ground. If I don't prop it up against something, it will invariably fall over and usually toss my bottle from the drinkholder for good measure.

2) If I have a cold drink in the drinkholder, it will soak the bottom corner of the backpack with condensation. The drinkholders could be better insulated, if only to prevent this.

3) The pen/pencil holders could be longer or more elastic, so that they have more of a grip.

And that's about it! I was a little leery of the price tag when I bought this backpack, but I definitely don't regret it. This is a incredibly high-quality product worth every penny. I don't think you'll be sorry. (:

P.S.: Apologies if this isn't as coherent as it could be; I tried to edit, but you know.. This is one of my no-brain days. (;

I bought this bag at the beginning of the semester and I regularly carry 20+ pounds in it. This bag is extremely well put together. There is no visible wear despite being stuffed full and lugged around 5 to 6 days a week for the entire 15 week semester. The straps are comfortable and have a sunglasses clip that I use for my headphones. I love this backpack! It was a great buy. The next time I need a backpack, which I don't anticipate to be soon, I will definitely buy a Swiss Gear bag!!!!
