I keep this umbrella in a side pouch of my briefcase and carry with me all the time. The auto open/close works great. I've only needed to use the umbrella once so far, and it worked great in a light rain. Haven't had a chance to test the windproof value of it yet. I worry about how engineered the umbrella is and the effect this may have on how long it lasts before breaking. Seems to be very well constructed so it isn't a huge worry. All-in-all, the best travel umbrella I've owned to date.
I am 80 years old and purchased this umbrella to replace one that was stolen on the train that I take to work. I ordered what should have been the SAME umbrella that I have carried for about five years. The unbrella that arrived was very difficult to open and unusable to me. I sent it back. Have not been refunded my purchase price or my shipping charges. Do not buy this umbrella.
