Rothco Vintage M-51 Engineers Bag - Canvas/Leather

I am a grad student majoring in studio art, and I have been searching for a bag like this for the longest time. I received it today and everything I need fits perfectly in it with some extra empty pockets. Usually I have to carry two bags or one bag and an art tackle box to school because my messenger bag couldn't hold all my class stuff and art stuff. Now it all fits in one. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead on 5 is because the photos make it look a little wider than it actually is.

This bag fits my laptop,sketchbook, 3 ring binder, iPad, all my drawing materials, wallet, cell phone, iPod, and a few other random small things.

I just got my bag. My Toshiba Portege z930 fits perfectly in a thin pouch in the main pocket. The quality looks okay, but there are many negative reviews about "fake" Rothco bags. The Rothco website appears to have a factory in New York. The "Made in India" tag is obvious, but I haven't been able to verify if this bag is really made by Rothco. For me, the size is perfect and the bag empty weighs about as much as what I plan to carry in it. I suspect that this bag will be fine, but if you are interested in an actual Rothco bag then you should check the company website and see the list of actual retailers. Thanks.

Rothco responded and verified that some of their bags are made in India, including this one. Ebags is an authorized dealer.

the bag itself weighs so much -if I put everything in it I need (art and drawing supplies) -it's too heavy to carry around!

I've had this bag a month and there are several stitching areas that are coming apart already; the leather portion on the handle is coming off and was from day 1, one of the compartments areas is unstitching. I had hoped this would be of better quality. I love the design and all the compartments, I just hope i can keep em all attached.

The quality is better than what I expected. In the picture, the shoulder strap is attached to the top flap which didn't seem to sturdy but it is attached to the sides. Nice and big too. Love this bag!
