Trail Maker Bungee System Outdoor Daypack / School Backpack

Green Trail Maker Bungee System Outdoor Backpack/ Sports Bag/ Student School BackpackMy son has been using this backpack for about a month now for school (kindergarten). It is an excellent bag for the price, and seems to be well made. It is quite large and fits his folder, library books, lunch, and jacket. Zippers work well. So far no problems whatsoever with this bag, and my son finds it very comfortable to wear.

EDIT: The zipper did break on this bag after about one school year of use, but for the price paid, I'm still pretty pleased with this bag. Now that my son is older I've gotten him a better quality Jansport bag, but for young kids who still might lose their bag, etc., this is not a bad deal.

I was meant to buy a cheaper school backpack and didn't expect a $9.99 backpack could have this high quality! It's good looking and practical, no problem with heavy books and stuffs. I think it'll last long!

I have had mine just over a month and one of the plastic strap adjustments completely broke apart. It was only than did I realize how thin the plastic is. This bag never was very full so the weight should not have effected it. I noticed it happened when i was adjusting the length of the strap. Very displeased with the product and would not buy again!

update: 2/10 I have had this bag now since august I still use it becuase I"m to cheap to buy a new bag, but now i'll be forced to as the bottom of the bag is wearing out way too fast. Avoid this bAG!

Bought the Trail Maker Bungee Backpack on Amazon for Fall Quarter and so far I'm pretty happy with it. It's big enough for my text books and miscellaneous school gear, but also small enough to make sure I don't over pack it with useless crap that will just get lost at the bottom. It would be even better, though, if there was more padding in the back portion so my binder/text book/what-have-you didn't dig into the small of my back.

4 out of 5 stars!

J World Sunset

JWorld 17' Kids's Rolling BackpackMy daughter was thrilled to receive this backpack. She loves the colors and the "cool" factor as using a rolling pack. I love that the bottom is reinforced so it won't fray and that the handle is easy to open and close. It rolls smoothly and the handle locks in place. My only complain (and it's small) is that the interior of the large pocket isn't as roomy as I would have thought. The handle mechanism takes up quite a bit of space. But I am very happy with this purchase and expect the bag to last for more than one school year.

Better than what you find in stores. Handle is a little sticky and loose. Let's see how long it will last in my boy's hands.

Phineas and Ferb Large Backpack - Large 16" Phineas and Ferb Blue Backpack

Phineas and Ferb Large Backpack - Large 16' Phineas and Ferb Blue BackpackBought for my son, it lasted about 2 months before the zipper gave out. Spend the extra money and get a better back-pack. My son loves Phineas and Ferb, that's why I got it in the first place. Plus it was only like $20...however the pack is made kind of cheap. It would be ok for toting toys for a trip in the car or for light use...but school books are too heavy and the pack could not handle the weight.

el producto llego a tiempo, son de muy buena calidad, igual a las fotos, lo recomiendo a toda la comunidad

Liberty Bags Large Lightweight Nylon Drawstring Backpack (8882)

Liberty Bags Large Drawstring Backpack 8882These bags are great for putting wet workout clothing in to carry home from gym. They are a good size, they are waterproof and they are washable. And dry well in the dryer. My husband has an assortment to keep in his locker and was quite pleased with the price.

I bought this bag for my son and it is great. It is large enough to hold a beach towel, change of clothes and still have room for more. It seems very sturdy and well made. The only down side is shipping was more than the bag.

Slightly bigger than I expected, but that's okay. I love all the colors they come in. After a hard time deciding what color to get, I ordered the hot pink one. I use it as a gym bag.

Read Best Reviews of Liberty Bags Large Lightweight Nylon Drawstring Backpack (8882) Here

First, the good--

1) The bag was quite spacious. I've seen other drawstring bags with much smaller holds, and this one definitely has more than enough space for carrying towels, gym clothes, sports equipment, or--in a pinch--books or even a packaged lunch.

2) The fabric used is somewhat resistant to water. (Most likely by design.) I'm not saying it's absolutely waterproof, though; don't go dipping it into a bathtub and expect the items inside to stay dry.

3) It comes in many, MANY colors. At the time of writing this review, there were 14 different colors, and I wisely chose not to have the blindingly noticeable colors like bright pink or yellow. Navy blue is more than sufficient for me.

4) The price was very reasonable for its purpose. I bought this bag for just under ten dollars (including shipping!) and received it in less than five days. If you have particularly high standards for a drawstring bag, then I warn you--take the time to research other options. You will mostly get what you paid for.

Now, the bad--

1) My biggest concern is that the bag was very poorly built. Although it cost less than $10, I noticed tears in the fabric from carrying even 10 lb. loads. I didn't notice those until my roommate pointed them out to me, and foolishly thought the fabric would hold a 25 lb. load later on. Buyer beware: although the item is labeled as a "backpack", do NOT think it acts in substitute of a conventional backpack. The straps are about a half-inch wide, and will leave imprints in your shoulders with heavy loads. In extreme cases, the fabric WILL tear and you will be left with a hole in the bottom as I was.

2) The fabric is very thin and flimsy. And there isn't a lot of it. While it can hold a large number of items, I'd imagine that the paper-thin fabric would be very transparent in bright areas or if the bag is a bright color. In addition, with such a thin fabric, it's VERY easy to accidentally crush something since the shape of the bag does not hold under pressure.

3) The straps are non-adjustable. I have a relatively small torso (32"), so it was very difficult dealing with a bag which had straps made for a 38-42" chest. Often times, the bag will slip and fall from your shoulders because the arm holes are just too damn large.

4) No pockets. Not a one. It makes it hard to sort smaller items from the big, bulkier ones, but as I've repeated multiple times already, you get what you paid for.

Final Verdict--

While this bag is incredibly cheap as well as cheaply made, I am buying another one to replace my old bag just because of the price. Do be warned that it is recommended that you buy a different bag for heavier loads (at least 10 lbs.), but this particular bag is flexible and thin so it works as a way to further sort your stuff inside of a larger, sturdier space such as a cargo box or backpack.

I ordered two of these for summer camp for my children and one of the backpack's strings untied on the first day of use for which I immediately contacted the seller and their reply was 'Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds or replacements for products damaged through use.' They also suggested that I retie it on my own which I tried and could not do. The other backpack got tears in it after a few weeks of use. Will never buy this again.

Disney Princess Dreams Backpack Bag 16" Belle Ariel Snow White

Disney Princess Dreams Backpack Bag 16' Belle Ariel Snow WhiteI like this backpack is for my 6 yrs old daughter to first grade. Everything is quick nice the sizes, the color even the picture of the princess too. The only thing maybe is the material is heavy. Even my daughter didn't even put much books inside the school bag even myself carry it feel heavy.

rooCASE Executive Portfolio Leather Case for Amazon Kindle Touch (Magenta)

rooCASE Executive Portfolio Leather Case for Amazon Kindle TouchThis case was so easy to use with extra credit card pockets, that my wife had me get her one fro her Kindle.

There are not a lot of options out there for covers allowing hands free reading for the Kindle Touch, so I was thrilled to find this one. There are two pockets inside where i can put my notes. While it's a little thicker than my other cover [which is designed mostly to just protect the screen], it still slips in my purse without a problem. The velcro that secures it in the case allows me to detach it and read almost as if there was no case at all weightwise. My only tiny complaint is that the zipper opens so far down into the case that it can sometimes be a little difficult to get it started when closing it This is my third Kindle and I have had one [or more] cases for each one, but this is the best so far for quality, features and price.

Diane Von Furstenberg Luggage Color On The Go Expandable Spinner

Diane Von Furstenberg Luggage Color On The Go Custom 28 Inch Expandable Spinner, Teal/White, One SizeI got the teal/white bag and I absolutely LOVE it!!! The color is gorgeous!!! The inside is quite roomy and comes with a removable plastic zipper bag that you can use for jewelry, liquids, cords, and small items you don't want going all over the inside of your suitcase. The outside has a zipper that allows the suitcase to expand in case your load is a little snug. The telescopic handle glides up and down quite easily. I had trouble maneuvering my old carry on bag down the aisle or through the airport without bumping into seats, etc. because it would only go forward or backward. The spinner wheels on this bag are fabulous!!! I can go in any direction with it with no difficulty whatsoever.

I purchased all 5 pieces for my daughter ( she is only 4, so I expect get 10 years out of this set), for our trip to Walt Disney World* 8 days. We are flying on JET BLUE, and I wanted to take advantage of the FREE first bag check in, Instead of cramming and folding, rolling to fit 2 kids in one suitcase. This is a good piece, for a light occasional travel, like 2x a year vacations. The WHEELS ARE WHITE, AND SCUFF UP, nearly immediately. Can be wiped clean, but really? Accept the wheels being a bit dirty. The color is true deep purple, very nice, the white trim is vinyl, and should be cleaned after every use. Again, this luggage is great for the price of KMART brands, but has some minor flaws, the white wheels are "silly", in terms of luggage. The fabric, needs to be scotch guarded, before use. for certain. Since this will stain up. I would say the hard-side hybrid of this could take a little more wear and tear, but this is FASHION luggage, and she be purchased with that in MIND. Good Price, 2 day prime shipping, and good color, I would say buy this to make a statement and to be en vogue.

Mobile Edge Select Backpack

Mobile Edge Select Backpack MEBPS7This bag provides so much more protection than other laptop bags I have seen. It is also attractive looking. The picture of the product on here looks very round, but in real life it is more flat, I guess unless you stuff it with a pillow like they apparently did. Just thought I would let everyone know because the roundness was something I was kinda worried about when I purchased the bag. Anyway, perfect bag in my opinion.

The photo doesn't do this backpack justice. It is Style! The color is great, the pockets and all the sections are wonderful.

The computer pocket is super padded all the way around and on the bottom.

The photo makes it look bulky but it is not. When empty it is quite flat.

The front opens all the way up so it is easy to get into when needed. Straps are fully adjustable.

This is by far the our all time favorite backpack and we have had many good and bad ones over the years -

Rugged, Stylish, Amazing design for use,

I can't think of a single thing I would change about this one.

Otium 20228NBLK Leisure Canvas Bagpack Backpack, Garment Washed Black

Otium 20228NBLK Leisure Canvas Bagpack Backpack, Garment Washed BlackI've carried this around for about a month now with often than not loads of notebooks that hurt my back, and well, it's still in tact!

It's bigger than a "hiking" backpack I've previously carried around, and obviously much cuter and chic. I'm sure you could carry around about five of Fivestar five-subject notebooks and still have some extra space. It's wide and roomy.

There's a laptop slip inside (towards where your back goes) and a zipped pocket to put whateveryouwant to put. On the other side there are little pockets to put pens and two that are almost big enough to fit in a Apple laptop charger. The two pouches outside are pretty perfect for an Apple laptop charger.

Closing the backpack is not traditional, but you'll get easily used to it.

The only downside is the lack of a soft pad-sort of material against your back-meaning, if there's irregular shaped things in the laptop slip, you're going to feel it. I'm fine with dealing with that, though.

Anyway, I absolutely love this bag! Glad I got it.

6/7/13 -Quick edit: So I've used this bag for college for the last few months. It doesn't have the best back support-my hiking bag I mentioned earlier feels much lighter because of the cushions on it. This bag does not have that. Regardless, my love for this bag does not end. It has not broken on me yet, and I carried around more than I should while school was in session. If you have bad back-you have been warned!

This kind of Korean or Japanese style backpack is my favorite one so far! Very satisfied with the texture and the color. It looks not big but it can even fit my 15 inch laptop! Perfect choice for international students from Asia.

I wanted to make sure I had the perfect backpack for my style and to held everything I use at school, but still be comfortable to wear. I FOUND IT! This bag is awesome. Lots of room, really strong canvas, adjustable and comfortable straps, pockets inside and outside, drawstring closing is nice if im in a hurry and need it closed and the buckle is just added security :) Right now I have one 3" binder (full), 3 text books, one 5 subject notebook, 2 folders (1/2 inch thick each), a pencil case, calculator, and my 13" laptop all in the bag and it fits great. Its not super crammed to where I'm worried about my laptop being affected in anyway and theres enough room to fit another notebook or two if i wanted. I'm very very pleased with this backpack and totally worth the price. I'm not sure what the material is exactly on the inside, but its strong enough to where it doesnt rip from me putting in and taking stuff out recklessly, and i can wipe it down if needed. I totally recommend this bag to picky people who want to be pratical and still stylish B)

Everest Luggage Canvas Drawstring Backpack

Everest Luggage Canvas Backpack Olive, Olive, One SizeI've been searching for a quality canvas style bag to carry to and from work. It had to accommodate a few uniforms, some sleepwear, and other misc items. I wanted a backpack-style bag that could carry all that and replace my roller-style duffle bag.

This bag exceeded all of my expectations! It is spacious. In its main compartment, it holds two EMS uniforms, a set of sleepwear, meds, PSP, iPad, bluetooth keyboard, dvd folder, and still closes easily with room to spare. The front larger pouch has spots for pens and such. The side pouches holds my chargers and some travel sized bathroom items. The entire bag seems very well constructed. It is sturdy and comfortable at the same time. The color seems to be the same shade as the large olive-green army duffle bags.

This is a larger sized bag. I'm an avarage build guy and it fits perfectly. However, it may be a bit large for smaller framed people. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this bag, and at $40, it seems to be very well priced.

I was looking for something that didn't have a lot of useless pockets on the inside or outside of the bag. I also wanted something I could stuff a weeks worth of clothes into. This is perfect for that. You can stuff it all the way to the top and there is a draw string to keep it closed. It will fit into airline carry on storage without a problem. The front pocket is just the right size for an iPad but not big enough for a laptop.

I read the reviews before purchasing this bag. Most said it was huge, some said it was smaller than expected. I sort of expected to receive a somewhat average sized bag, but I liked the look of it, so I was willing to make that sacrifice.

NO SACRIFICE AT ALL! This bag is MASSIVE. The front pocket has places for pens and my leather bound notebook. The side pockets are great for wallet and phone and keys and such. But that main pocket.... I fit my 15.6" laptop in it's laptop sleeve WITH handles, two more notebooks, my Kindle, a change of clothes, a fur-lined zip-up sweater, hat, gloves, a tall cold cup from Starbucks (empty of course), AND A BOTTLE OF LAUNDRY DETERGENT! It wasn't even a challenge to CLOSE! (Though, let me tell you, it was heavy--not at all the bag's fault. =P)

I call it my TARDIS bag. For those of you who don't get the Doctor Who joke.... it's bigger on the inside. =P

I am currently a college student at the University of Oklahoma, and my backpack was too small to be of any use at an A1 university. I purchased this backpack for three reasons. The first reason is that I simply needed a new backpack and this one fit the bill. The second is that is is very spacious with pockets for my calculator, pens, small notepads, and other misc items. and the third...It's design is like that of a military backpack, you cant go wrong there. It's stylish and functional.

It can also be noted that it shipped quickly and arrived on time, I am very happy with this purchase. :)

Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack- 17.3-Inch (Black/Navy)

Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack- 17.3-InchI bought this backpack 5 months ago as a replacement for a Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack that I have had for almost 8 years. I bought the original in 2004 for what was then my new Dell Laptop. The original has held up fabulously through all kinds of experiences. It has been on countless flights around the country, through camping trips, three motorcycle accidents, and I use it every single day back and forth to work. In March of this year, I was in a 50 MPH head on motorcycle accident; I rolled over the backpack with my 230 lbs, and the only damage was a broken plastic buckle everything inside was in perfect condition.

The new backpack doesn't fare nearly as well. In 5 months, without any extreme circumstances (no motorcycle accidents, camping, etc.), the fabric inside the backpack has torn in two spots, the waist buckle has broken, and the light duty mesh on the outside front pockets has ripped. This is just from day to day use back and forth to work. The 1680 denier nylon outer skin has done well, which is to be expected. Everything else seems to be of inferior quality.

If the whole backpack were made of the same quality materials as the outer skin, it would be a great bag; it has many great features, it's comfortable, and it is roomy. As it stands, however, I will be looking elsewhere for my laptop backpacks from now on.

I recently bought a replacement plastic buckle for my original bag and have been using it instead of this new one. When it does eventually give up the ghost, I'll most likely look at a Sandpiper or Blackhawk bag that is built sturdier throughout.

My computer is 17.3" and also very thick it is hard to find 17.3" backpacks that are also thick enough. This is a great backpack and it fit the computer perfectly!

my previous bag was a swiss that lasted maybe 4 years. this one seems better made, stiffer. you don't have to fasten the rain cover buts its nice to have. this thing would fit a 19" laptop if you had to, 17" has room leftover. the 2nd compartment though isn't very deep front to back. its more like the laptop compartment, tall wide but not too deep. I wish it was a bit deeper. the bottom back pocket works great for stuff like USB cables, drives and other bits, but I wish it was taller to hold some larger cables.

very well made, should last a long time. had this 4-5 months and it still looks like new despite daily use including bike commuting I do while its nice outside... and even when its not quite nice :)

Travelers Choice Luggage US Traveler Horizon Rolling Laptop Backpack

Travelers Choice Luggage US Traveler Horizon Rolling Laptop Backpack, Purple, LargeI would like to change my rating to 0 stars. ORIGINALLY I WROTE: I love this bag. It fits my huge laptop, plus 3 law books (about 1000 pages in hardcover each), and I can curve a couple softcover books to fit on top, or your lunch, AC adapter, etc. The fabric is thicker than I expected, which is great because the handle ripped off my last backpack and the zipper broke as well. This bag has lots of neat features...the straps store in a pouch on the back, and there is a vinyl-like cover you can pull out to cover the wheels so your clothes don't get dirty when you switch to carrying it on your back (although it does sort of resemble a black shower cap). When the handle is down, you can zip it closed, so it does not so obviously resemble a wheeled backpack. There is a small zippered compartment on top you can keep your cell phone or keys. The front pouch is deep from top to bottom, but does not expand much, so even though books would fit in it, they are too thick to actually zipper it closed. I keep my planner, wallet, and sometimes my AC adapter in it, but when the bag is stuffed, it's not really much additional space. Still, this is the greatest backpack I've ever had.

Very disappointed in this product. The handle for rolling the backpack broke off within a month. It can no longer be used as a rolling backpack. No unusual wear & tear by student. Will "not" purchase another one.

Rothco Vintage Canvas Weekender Backpack

Rothco Vintage Canvas Weekender BackpackI bought this because it looks really nice, and I've had a few people mention how much they like it.

The straps are really wide and comfortable, they don't dig in and I barely even notice the straps while wearing it.

There is lots of room so it can hold a lot of stuff.

Sadly those are just about it for my Pros column.

Because of the material my shirt *constantly* rides up in the back. I feel like I'm reaching back every 30 seconds to pull my shirt back down so its a huge annoyance to me, but if you don't mind it then go for it.

While all the buckles and such look nice they can be annoying and time consuming to do and undo. Not a deal breaker but if you're in a big rush its a little inconvenient.

The adjustment buckles on the straps are VERY loose and never hold the straps tightly enough to keep them at a desired length. Walking in general will cause the straps to lengthen rather quickly, and never at the speed for each strap. And I lost count on how many times I would accidently touch/brush or even just look at the buckle and cause the strap to suddenly lengthen by inches.

Because the main compartment is so large it can be uncomfortable to carry certain things, like school books. The books would constantly lean back, causing the pack to lean back too, and if the book is small enough it will just fall over completely and lay flat, which can be just as annoying. The drawstring just wasn't efficient enough to keep things close.

So in the end, I wouldn't suggest this backpack for everyday school use. If you like going camping and want to use it for clothes or something, that would be good.

Huge, comfy, perfect. The straps do not dig into your back like other bags without padding can. I use it for college and it holds all of my books, supplies, water bottle, and extra crap too. I had all of this in my old, regular back and it felt like it weighed a millon pounds. This bag makes it feel like all I have is a couple of notebooks or something. Also, my old backpack barely lasted a year of college with visible wear/tear after a month. This bag is has gone through more abuse than my old one ever did and looks brand new. Only problem I've found is that it makes your shirt ride up a bit, but that's to be expected of the material. Worth it for the durability. Definitely recommend.

Lowepro CompuPrimus All Weather Backpack (Black)

Lowepro CompuPrimus All Weather BackpackI have learned, that when it comes to photography backpacks, there is not a single pack, that will do it all. Not well, at least.

I travel a lot and, therefore, I lug my camera and computer around quite a bit. I'd always relied on a combination of a Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300 (which is a great camera bag for walking around) and a normal North Face backpack, to carry my computer and My Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 when going on airplanes. This was, however, a bit laboursome and I decided to get a more suitable piece of luggage.

I was looking for a backpack that would accomodate 1) my big telephoto zoom lens, 2) my Macbook Pro, and 3) a couple of extras, like for example a book, some clothing items, or whatever one might need in the course of a travel.

I made a lot of comparisons between different types of bags and finally narrowed it down to two: the Fastpack 350 and this one. In the end, I chose the Compuprimus because it has the Lowepro All Weather cover (which have rescued the day for me before) and a tripod support.

And now: the bag. It is HUGE. I stand at 6'2", and the bag still seems quite enourmous on me (well, perhaps not enourmous, but quite large anyway), which makes it less than ideal for walking around in cities with. I live in Beijing, which, granted, is a very busy and overpopulated city, but it is nigh on impossible to take this bag with me on a 'photowalk' in the city. But then again, that's not what I bought it for, and, I suspect, not what most people would buy it for (why would one, for example, want to lug ones computer around with one on such walks?).

Inside, the camera compartment is big enough to hold my camera with beforementioned large zoom lens attached plus a couple of other lenses, memory cards, cables and cleaning kit. With a bit of will, pushing and swearing, one could also fit in ones flash unit (I usually keep it in its pouch, which makes it a bit bigger, so I keep it in the 'luggage compartment' of the bag). The access to the camera compartment is from the rear, facing towards your back, which not only increases security, but actually also makes it more convenient for you to access your gear without having to put the bag on the ground. There is a small 'hatch' on the right (when carrying the backpack), that allows for easy access to your camera. This little hatch is, however, not as practical as one could've hoped for. The opening is not really big enough for me to pull out the camera quickly or smoothly enough for me to use it. I prefer to get it out the cumbersome way. But that may be me, who is clumsy, and not the bag.

The compartment for storing other things, looks quite small, but will actually hold quite a lot. There's ample room for a book or two (depending on sizes obviously), phone, MP3 gear, a delicious fizzy beverage, and a thin piece of clothing (raincoat or some such thing). It is, however, not large enough to fit your jacket AND something else. There's ample room for stuff needed on a flight or a daytrip. There's also a outside side pocket, that'll take some things if necessary.

The detachable computer sleeve sits in front of the bag, and is, as a piece of kit, very impressive. It can be taken out and used as a seperate bag (will only hold a laptop, though) as it has both a handle and a detachable shoulderstrap. It also has a sunscreen, which makes it possible to use the computer in the field when the sun is shining. However, this feature I haven't used yet. I usually just leave the sleeve at the hotel and use the pack without it when 'on location'.

The backpack is very sturdy, as Lowepro's products tend to be, and you can really feel the quality. Despite being so big and heavy (it's some 6 pounds or so when empty) it sits really comfortably on your back. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment bringing this on a daylong hike. The weight is really nicely distributed on your back and hips, it doesn't seem nearly as heavy once you've got it on. The waistsupport and cheststrap only adds to this feeling, and sits perfectly (on me at least).

It's not a cheap backpack, not at all. But you pay for quality and you get a lot for your money. You can also find comfort in the fact, that some of the proceedings from the sale of this bag goes to help polarbears (a fact that calmed mu initial outrage at the asking price). It's also partially made from recycled plastic, and I, being a large consumer of soda, found that very nice indeed.

In short (well, that's a bit too late now, isn't it): it does what it is supposed to do very well. It takes a lot of gear and keeps it safely protected from the elements and the environment. I suspect that if you are a person of a rather petite build, this bag would be too large, but otherwise it is just large. I will most likely purchase a Slingshot as well, or perhaps a Minitrekker or some such backpack for day to day trekking/walking purposes, but this one keeps my travel needs satisfied, which is no small thing in itself.

I rate it 4.5 stars, the .5 subtraction coming from the slightly clumsy nature of the backpack and the less than ideal 'easy access' flap. I would definitely recommend this to others.

i purchased this bag in the winter of 2010 for a trip to tokyo and singapore.

first off, the other reviewers are correct when they say this is a large bag. to offer some additional context, when you bring this bag onto a plane, it won't fit under the seat in front of you unless you remove your laptop from it.

i was traveling with one nikon camera body, 2 lenses, some accessories, a laptop and general travel items (books, sunglasses, passport, food, etc.). the bag held everything i needed.

the product lacks in 2 areas:

-1there aren't enough pockets for anyone who travels.

the pockets within the two main chambers are sufficient, but require you to take off your bag, open a zipper and then open another zipper. there is no "quick pocket" designed for someone who is passing through airport security and needs access to documentation or anything other than their camera.

-2-the bag is designed to lay upside down

in the video, they show how the bag rests nicely on the front part of the bag so you can quickly access your camera. when you do this, you are actually putting all the weight of the bag on your laptop which doesn't make a lot of sense. the laptop sleeve area is kind of exposed and this function of putting all the weight on a laptop really doesn't make much sense.

bottom line:

this is a big bag for travel that will accommodate all kinds of media and stuff.

if you are willing to look past some of the design flaws (lack of pockets, too many straps, and putting weight on your laptop)this is a great weekend bag or on-flight bag that will hold just about anything you need.

Serriously, I didn't know what I was getting myself into.

I'll try to organize my thoughts in this. So here we go:

Cons:

*I feel like a turtle when I wear this thing! Really is a bit too big.

*Not a big fan of how open the laptop compartment is. A zipper would have been preferred. Also don't really like the velcro at the bottom of the compartment. It makes the laptop sleeve awkward to pull out.

*The straps to hold in the laptop in the sleeve when you are using the sunshade are thin plastic, and I'm assuming will not hold up very well. After squeezing my laptop in there they are already stretched. Elastic straps would have been wiser to put in.

*Almost impossible to access camera body from the opening in the back. If you don't want to mess up your LCD screen, you'll have have to pull it out through the side compartment, then open the back opening to access lenses, ect.

* All weather cover is hard to get out and awkward to put away. Never purchased a Lowepro backpack before this one, so I don't know if they are all like this, but it seems like the pocket is slightly too small for the AW cover.

*The part of the backpack that separates the top space for misc. stuff and the laptop compartment is curved in a way that it flows into the top compartment. So basically, unless you have it stuffed, there is a bunch of extra space behind the laptop. This really isn't a huge deal, just seems like there was too much extra material used in this area.

*Zippers seem sturdy, but it is a pain in the butt to close them. You have to stuff the section that you are zipping back into the back in order for it to close effectively. Does not make for fast closure.

*Side access for camera is not very camera strap-friendly. Not as bad pulling it out, but slows down putting the camera back, if you have the strap still attached.

Pros:

*This bag is extremely comfortable. The top of the shoulder straps have kind of an awkward part that I can feel in my shoulders, although doesn't seem like it makes that big of a difference in the overall comfort. Just something to get used to.

*The side access is actually pretty awesome. I wanted a bag that had this, and while there are unfortunate things about the design, this was definitely a deal maker.

*Plenty of space for misc. things in top compartment. A couple of books, maybe a lunch, makes it a good day pack (although the size disagrees with this statement).

*I don't think the sleeve was made for 15" laptops. I can fit my 17" in, although it is a smidge awkward, the sunshade makes it worth it. (Ever if I don't use my laptop outside a lot.)

Okay, so overall, there are more cons than pros, for me, but after spending about 24hrs online looking at backpacks over the course of a couple of days, this monstrosity is the closest thing to perfect...unfortunately.

I'm probably just too picky, and that may make me cringe every time I put on this bag. I was looking for something that I'd be able to throw on and cruise around with when I go to festivals and something smaller would have *definitely* been preferred, but like I said, closest thing to perfect. Wouldn't go as far as recommending this pack to someone, but if you can go for the smaller size, do it. (this is the larger of the two, they have one with slightly smaller dimensions.)

This is my favorite camera bag. None of the others I have come close to filling this same role. It's elegantly designed. The amount of space in the top and bottom are just right for many situations. I even went around Europe with this as my only bag for weeks. Clothes and toothbrush in the top, gear in the bottom (I travel light, except for camera equipment!) The back-opening design is really nice in that one doesn't have to take the bag all the way off to get at the pockets. You can sling it around or reverse it, and open it towards your chest. The camera access point on the side is MAYBE a little small, but really well positioned. It's easy to access and stow your things quickly, and the rigid extension tab on the zipper makes it easy to close-it's a tiny detail, but it makes a big difference. It also shows that the designers were wide awake on this one.

It's not big enough for all your gear, but if you have a rough idea of what you'll be shooting, you should be fine.

Now, another important point:

I have a number of Lowepro bags. They all serve different functions. They're all really solidly built, and very well designed. They have the occasional SMALL design quirk, but easily they're the best I've used. I really want to mention their customer service. I had a zipper on a bag die a slow death a while ago, and I wrote in about it. They offered to quickly send me a replacement without having to ship in the original. In addition to being a really classy move, it tells me that they take product quality and customer retention very seriously; which is worth a LOT to me in today's market of caveat-ridden warranties. Any company that makes products which they're willing to back so strongly wins my admiration.

Use these bags with confidence. If something goes wrong, they stand behind their products.

I bought this bag for a weekend vacation where I was planning on walking miles and miles with all of my camera gear and some. The portion that holds my camera and lenses is the perfect size for me. In it, I put my 5D w/ grip, 70-200L, 17-40L, 50 f/1.4, 24mm TS-E, and all my hoods/interval meter/accessories. I even have room for another lens if I get one.

The tripod holder is perfect for my Mannfroto 055XPro. Keeps it very securely fastened so I don't have to worry about it falling off or knocking into other people/things.

The straps are extremely comfortable. They have tons of padding and the fabric that is used breathes very well. I used it during a heavy thunderstorm, and the all weather cover kept all of my gear dry, even though I was soaked to the bone.

Some people might say it is too heavy, but it is because of the massive amounts of padding in the camera portion.

I love this bag!

PSThe laptop sleeve fits my Lenovo T61p (with extended battery) perfectly.
