This bag was purchased for my 8 year old 3rd grader, who has used it daily for the last 6 months. Then, while his bag was closed, the zipper came off. All of his things were trapped inside. So I tore the seam open with my hands. My point being, I am not strong, and tearing the bag open was not difficult, suggesting it is not a sturdy product. The Mario details are bright and colorful, and I suppose 6 months used by an active boy is a decent amount of time for the price paid.Want Mariokart Wii Large Backpack Discount?

Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Backpack
I gave this bag 5 stars because it fits very well and is airline carry on compliant.I loaded this bag with about 30lbs of clothes and photography gear on a 2 week trip to the Philippines. It fit very well with and rested nicely on my hips with the help of the hip support.
The main compartment of this bag unzips completely which makes it easy to pack and utilize every inch of the bag. The outermost compartment unzips partially to allow more of pocket for things that need to be accessed quickly like a laptop or paperwork.
The zippers on the bag also have loops to put a lock in to keep it safe. I was able to loop all 4 zippers with one lock.
The shoulder straps fit very well and are padded nicely to insure good support on the shoulders. It's a very comfortable fit once properly fitted to your body.
I highly recommend this bag to anyone looking for a bag that's very well designed for travel and is airline carry-on compliant.

I used this in combination with some packing cubes (which I also recommend) on a trip from the states to Italy. This was my first time traveling internationally. I was so glad to use this as my primary bag--whether on the plane or on the train. I did not envy people with roll-aboards because I was confident I could carry this on my back and it would dutifully fit into an overhead bin (even under the seat!) on both plane and train. I hate checking luggage, but airlines have gotten really tough about limiting the size of carry-on bags. So, when I planned a recent 3 week trip to Europe, I knew that my roll-on bag wasn't going to cut it. This backpack is perfectly sized to fit every major airline's limits.Really well designed. Tough but lightweight. Lots of pockets, intelligently placed, with sturdy zippers that are protected by storm flaps. Two really sturdy padded handles that are not going to fail when you need them. Comfortable back straps that hide nicely when not in use.
I should mention that I am not some college student kicking around Europe. I'm a retired ex-lawyer who stays in real hotels and B&Bs. This is by far, the best travel luggage I have ever used.

I bought this for a recent conference to replace my old luggage. I was dead-set on not checking any bags. Between this bag and a small laptop bag, I was able to take enough clothing for a week-long conference, along with an extra pair of dress shoes, a pair of running shoes, and all my technology (iPad, laptop, chargers, mouse, cables, headphones, etc) and still stay within carry-on requirements.The bag is convertible you can use it as a backpack, or zip-up the back straps and attach a shoulder strap to carry it like a gym bag, and it has big comfy handles on the top and side for carrying by hand. Very nice.
Filled to the brim and compressed using the handy internal and external straps, the bag easily fit within the carry-on dimensions on the United flight I had. I have no doubts it would fit within the carry-on requirements of most airlines based on my research. It might not fit well into the overhead bins on some smaller planes, but I was still able to carry it to the gate. If I hadn't filled it to capacity, I probably could have shoved it into the overhead bins on the small plane.
Overall this is a comfortable bag for the business traveler it doesn't look like a hiker/adventurer bag, and its features are definitely more travel-friendly. I also used it as my primary bag during the conference, and though it's not the most fashionable choice, it looks much more business-appropriate than most high-end backpacks. Considering the Osprey quality and no-strings lifetime warranty, it is value-priced in my opinion as well. I'm quite pleased.
DAKINE Valet Laptop Tote
I like this bag a great dealit is just big enough to fit my laptop, some notebooks, my lunch and all other necessities (computer charger, pens/pencils, water bottle other odds and ends...) without feeling too bulky or getting too heavy. I don't like using it to travel, however. The latch on the front pocket turns quite easily and if the bag is not upright, whatever is in that pocket is in danger of falling out. It is a fairly big pocket so I use it for more than just papers (I can fit a travel size umbrella and other such items inside). I don't like taking it on an airplane since I am afraid of anything in that pocket coming out. Other than that pocket, no complaintseasy to store, zips up nicely, good space in the bag.Likes:

This bag is definitely a great laptop/work bag. If, like me you tend to put odd shaped/potentially rolling or sliding objects in your bag it may not be the best bag for travel as the front pocket tends to pop open on its own. Still a great buy!

Love this bag. I have a very small computer and it barely fits, so be sure to measure first. Other reviewers are correct when saying the little flap in front doesn't stay closed but I don't really put anything in there. Nice size bag to take home my laptop every night and will be a nice carry on too.

I bought two of these for light hiking and weekend trips. The pack is sturdy, the pockets useful. But with a 50" chest, I couldn't get the thing on, even with the straps all the way out. Its' now my 9 year old's camping pack.The should straps aren't padded. So be careful how much you pack or that weight will start working it's way through you.
Tons of room and very sturdy.
I've had my bag for about five months and it has served me excellently. The bag I had before showed wear after less time than this one, with less use and didn't hold as much.
Some of the things that I like about this bag:
-Draw-string top with a strap-down cover, to keep out the weather.
-Metal covers on the ends of the straps that buckle, making it hard for strangers who might want to help themselves into your bag.
-Three useful pockets.
I always worry about someone getting into the top pouch, or the zipper getting caught, or somehow not zipping this and having things fall out, so I only use the top pocket in case of extreme emergency.

I'm about 5 foot 2 and I cannot use this backpack casually cuz it's too big. It's great for trips though. I can easily fit a weeks worth of clothes, small bottles of shampoo and lotions as well as a travel size blow-dryer. Timbuk2 Lightbrite Swig Backpack (OS)
I ride my bike to work most days and my old backpack just didn't have the capacity to hold my laptop and cables, a change of clothes, some bike tools, and a book or two. This backpack does have room for all that. I've even brought cleats when I have an ultimate game later. I really like the material it's made out of. It is highly waterproof and so I don't worry about carrying my company laptop even in the rain. Sometimes when closing the main flap, the corners will stick out and could let water in. I take care to tuck in the corners and haven't had a problem. I really like the reflective stripe when I'm riding at dusk cause I know the cars can see me. I don't know why the stripe is on the right side though since i mostly ride on the right side of the road, the stripe is on the curb side. I think it should be on the left closer to the traffic but again, I haven't had any problems. My only other complaint is that the straps are really long and if you tighten them so the pack is high on your back, the ends flap around like streamers behind you. I may shorten them one of these days. The side zippers are cool. I rarely use them though. I didn't realize there were two of them until I received the pack. There's one for the laptop compartment and one for the front pouch. The front one is a little difficult to reach into especially if the pack is full. Also the bag will easily carry a 17" laptop, you just won't be able to get it out of the side zipper pocket. But there is plenty of space for it in the pack's laptop compartment.

I love the side entry pocket to be able to get things from either the front pocket or my laptop. My only complaint is that it is a bit small. Wish it could hold more. Commuting back and forth to school on the train this weatherproof backback is the bomb but I often find myself with a book or two that just won't fit. High Sierra 30-Inch Wheeled Cargo Duffel Cargo Duffel
I bought a similar High Sierra rolling bag two years ago. I travel with it at least once per week and it held up pretty good for those two years, but the wheels finally wore out. But I thought it held up good enough so I bought this bag. I like it even better because it stands up and is slightly trapezoidal in shape. So far so good, but lets see if those wheels will last more than two years this time.

O-M-G... this bag is just too cute. If you are looking for a book bag for school then this won't work, it is too small and would fall apart under that kind of pressure. However, if you are looking for a bag to carry stuff to a sleepover or to carry your gym clothes in, then it's a winner!
Osprey Kestrel 28 Mountaineering Backpack
The Kestrel series are great packs with clever and useful features. The 28, however, has two problems that led me to exchange it for the new Manta 25 daypack: the Kestrel 28 is really only big enough for a day hike, but it is designed like a multi-day pack. By this I mean it has few access points (the only zippered pouch is behind the top of the pack (i.e., against the back of your head!)and the main compartment is very long and narrow with a drawstring opening that makes it difficult to get things in-and-out (acceptable if you're just hiking from campsite to campsite, but on day hikes I tend to access the pack quite often). The other problem also concerns the length of the pack -it is very long and has no internal support, so it is essentially a big noodle. I have also read reviews indicating a painful fold develops in the lower back region if the pack isn't fully loaded. If you want a good daypack, look at the Manta series first. These have the innovative features of the Kestrel (sto-&-go trekking pole attachments, integrated raincover, hipbelt pockets, hydration)in a more conventional day pack design. The Kestrel does have twin daisy chain attachments vs a single centered daisy on the Manta, if hanging things on the pack is important to you.
Highly recommended. It's durable, has a built-in raincover, and the Osprey hydration pack (1.5L) fits perfectly. I'll never want another small bag.
Also, it's fully adjustable. I was unsure about this at first, I didn't trust the funky velcro, but it's proven to be a solid feature.
I get asked about this bag ALL the time, and always recommend it. Be careful with the straps at the airport though, they have a habit of getting caught in the rolly things at the x-ray.

Bottom line: I don't recommend this pack. Read on if you want details.My favorite day pack finally gave up the ghost. I have an Osprey Talon 11 for mountain biking, which is the best bike pack I've ever owned (I've used a ton of day packs & bike packs over the years). It has good features and (remember this point) it easily accommodates a 100 oz. Camelbak bladder. After research & review I bought a Kestrel 28 for backcountry hiking and peak climbs. Have used it on 10 long day hikes so far (15 20 miles / day, usually above tree line). It's comfortable for long hikes, which is a plus. On balance, though, it has some features that offset the comfort. First, it's tough to get a 100 oz. Camelbak bladder into the hydration pack slot. Yes, I know Osprey sells a specially designed bladder for its packs, but I'm not impressed when a gear company expects you to buy everything from them, instead of making their gear compatible with other widely used components & systems. In order to get the non-Osprey bladder to slide in, I basically have to empty out the pack first a PITA if you are working in the dark or in foul weather. Even then, the fit is tight enough that I have concerns that loading the pack to capacity might produce a seam blowout on the Camelbak bladder. Keep that in mind unless you want to buy a special bladder just for this pack. Second, the Kestrel 28 is a top loader, which is fine, but I prefer top loaders with a top pocket large enough to hold several items so that you don't have to dig into the pack every time you want something. This pack actually has two top pockets-but both are very small and don't add up to much. My work-around is to put all my regular top-pocket items into a smallish stuff sack and carry it in the large compartment of the pack. This works ok, but consumes extra time and is just one more thing to manage on the trail or the climb, and could so easily have been designed better by Osprey. Third, the hip belt is really just another narrow chest strap located around your lower abdomen. It doesn't take weight off your shoulders, but it's worth keeping fastened to keep the pack stable on your back. However, the buckle components are not sewn into place at the strap ends, so they slide around and it's hard to close the buckle just by feel. In the store or when you strut around at home with your new pack this is no problem. If you are trying to fasten the hip belt in the dark, or in hail and snow, maybe with a few layers on including gloves and shell mitts, you will be wishing Osprey had eliminated the yards of extra strap material and other useless features in favor of a decent hip buckle. Overall: For the casual, fair-weather day hiker this pack would be just fine (although a bit expensive for that limited purpose imho). If you are more aggressive in the backcountry and expect your gear to work *for* you, though (instead of the other way around), I think you can do better in this price range.

ShedRain WindPro Mini Umbrella Auto Open & Close
Here on my campus, it seems to always be very windy, probably due to the flat land surrounding it. If you carry a $5 umbrella with you on a rainy day, you'll find yourself tilting it this way and that way, just to make sure the wind doesn't caught inside of it. With the ShedRain umbrella, this effect completely disappeared. The ShedRain doesn't seem to have any trouble dealing with wind. Plus, the automatic open/close feature on the umbrella really makes life a bit simpler.Overall, if you're in need of a good umbrella, this product is the way to go.
Not a big deal since it stops the bulk of the wet, I'll probably just add a layer of scotch guard to it or something.

This is a very nice mini umbrella, and does auto open AND close. It has a very thick sturdy shaft, and is made with semi-flexible spars that bend in the wind and prevent the umbrella from becoming a sail. It also has a vent hole on top, so in all it is quite stable in high winds. It is not the lightest umbrella ever, due to its sturdy construction, but it is light and small enough to carry around all the time in a backpack or briefcase no problem. I'm quite satisfied with this product. My only complaint would be that the button is kind of hard to push for auto-close, so if you have a weak grip you might want to try an umbrella with a more sensitive mechanism. I live in New York City, where we're constantly walking, and in need of good umbrellas that can handle wind. I used the GustBuster before, which was great, but wanted a more portable option. I thought this wood be good.The reality is that it doesn't protect from wind much better than a regular umbrella. At winds where a typical umbrella might turn upside down, this one does as well.
I'll keep it as a regular umbrella, as the automatic open and close is very convenient and works well. But when I know there's going to be wind, I'll break out the gustbuster instead.

I lose umbrellas. I leave them everywhere. I have left them in cabs, on trains, and on buses. I leave them at restaurants. Actually, any public place where the chance of recovering a lost item is slim that's where I tend to leave my umbrellas. For this reason, I typically purchase cheap umbrellas. Disposable umbrellas. Ones that would inevitably end up in an umbrella graveyard: jammed into a garbage bin with other umbrellas suffering the same fate...torn material, broken ribs, rusted wires, worn-out handles. Those disposable umbrellas were ones that I wouldn't be upset to leave as a 'gift' to the next commuter occupying my seat on the train.A couple years ago, I embraced a new approach. I bought an expensive umbrella. This ShedRain WindPro one, actually. It was a navy blue colour called Heather, but despite the feminine name I still felt manly whilst using it to shield myself from the elements. I paid around $40, so I figured that losing this umbrella would be more difficult. I would pay attention to its whereabouts, because it was something of value to me. No longer disposable. It is a great umbrella. It's not huge, and is insufficient to fit two people underneath, but it fits nicely in a backpack, not taking up much space, so I can always have it with me. Together with this umbrella, we fought storm after storm. No gust of wind or spray of precipitation could defeat us... Sadly though, Heather met her demise. True to her strengths, she stayed open to the end...but that was her defeat. Her closing mechanism had malfunctioned, and she would not collapse. I was gutted.
I sent an e-mail to ShedRain to try my luck with the lifetime warranty. I had since moved from the US to Australia, so I prepared myself for the anticipated polite, but negative response to my query about a replacement. I expected that the warranty would be void overseas. To my surprise, after describing what had happened, ShedRain indicated that they would replace Heather at no cost not even shipping to Australia. Phenomenal! They indicated that they understood international shipping was expensive, so I wouldn't need to send my broken Heather to Portland. They'd just send me a new one. ShedRain's warranty policy was excellent. Well today, I received the replacement and I can't wait for it to rain. Seriously Mother Nature, if you're reading this review...Bring it.

Military Inspired Canvas Crossbody Messenger Bag Laptop Case Backpack Olive Drab
Bag arrived in small parcel folded into mailbox. Expected a box, so I didn't actually get it until a day after delivery. This either ruined any rigidity the bag may have ever had, or more likely due to the canvas construction was never there.I expected the inside to be canvas, instead it is a scratchy vinyl material. This is especially grating and noticeable on the opening flap. You have this beautiful canvas bag, then you open it and that black glossy scratchy sounding material ruins the illusion. Overall the bag seems cheaply assembled. While the canvas is durable, as it should be, The plastic clips, inside material, and carry strap are all of poor quality or bad material. Though special note should go to the stitching, which seems to be or rather good quality.
The front pocket's snap is difficult to open with one hand, and combined with the poor quality of the 'leather' strap that holds it I feel I'm going to rip the snap right off. Either a slightly less tight snap, or a higher quality strap would solve this problem.
The metal Rectangular rings worry me. When loaded with only 3kg of books, hard drives, a laptop, and various other things, they seemed to begin to stretch, not noticeably but the strain was there. That is troublesome considering the size of the bag is something that encourages putting 3 or 4 kg of stuff into it. IN addition with a messenger style bag, more than 1 kg without paddding hurts a shoulder after a while. The lack of padding, or atleast a small moveable pad, is bad. The bag is large and if it didn't have all the above flaws would be an amazing item. But with them... It's average.
Unfortunately, I think I'm the only reviewer to bring up the inside material. I wish someone else had done so, would not have ordered if they had, would have spent more on another bag.
I'm not a fan of having to pay my own return costs, so I guess you could add this review to the seller review as well. I should not have to pay to return a defective product...

This is my first messenger style bag and I really like it. I keep a couple of technical books for work, my lunch, gloves, phone, water bottle, etc. and there's still plenty of room left for many other things (like a laptop). I don't know how well it would work for school toting around 5 plus full sized text books, but it works perfectly for my commute to work and back.My only complaint would be that I find myself having to adjust the strap once a day or so because the strap adjuster slides around a bit to freely.
EDIT: (4/18/2012) Last week, my bags main seatbelt style snap broke off. I wouldn't say i snapped it off roughly, but i wasn't paying attention and i guess it got away from me. Thems the breaks i guess. I feel like this bag was a little young for me anyway. I'm gonna look for something a little more grown up this time.This bag is cute yet I used it for only one month and the threading came apart and the following day the zipper came off. It isn't a good bag for a college student. I carried only 3 books in it at a time and it couldn't hold up. I would just spend the extra money and get something worth buying.
