NANUK Foam inserts (3 part) for 925 Case
I purchased these mostly because the price was so low. 70% less than using Pelican or any other name brand. I was so pleasantly surprised when I started re-doing my VanGuard case (which I really like), and found that these worked better for me. They gave my two layers deep in my case as they are half the depth of the original insert. It allowed me to better fit and protect my cameras and lenses. These are a little more dense than the originals and I think they will last longer without "chipping out"

The pull apart blocks do not separate easily and cleanly. Looks like the blocks were cut apart with a dull hacksaw. Embarrassed to open my case in front of anyone and pull out equipment. Folks laugh at me for spending so much money on such an ugly piece of foam. If you can find a comparable set of foam inserts from Pelican, buy them.
Black Diamond Bandit Winter Pack - 690cu in
Black Diamond claims the pack only holds 11L. Maybe that's true, but it seems bigger-that or my old, old, old Camelbak from a decade ago was a lot smaller.I can't decide.
The ski carry works pretty good, just don't lose the top (detachable) strap. The pack opens up almost completely, almost "hinged" at the bottom, which is great for access, but too easy to dump all your crap in the snow by accident when searching for the one item you buried at the very bottom. The way the pack is shaped, the middle and top are a little tight, so bigger stuff very often ends up at the bottom.
Pockets are a weakness-there's one small exterior one and one bigger interior one, but not much in the way of useful pockets for smaller stuff otherwise.
I also have concerns about how waterproof it is on the bottom, but that might've been me being sloppy when filling my reservoir.
Aside from the lack of pockets, the other quibble is the reservoir pouch. It's sized for a 2L reservoir, which BARELY fits. The top cloth hook to hold the bladder is also cut a hair too short, which makes it difficult to unhook if you're in a rush and the bladder is still partially full. That could be fixed, and they could've sized the sleeve wider and taller for a 3L reservoir and still had room. Granted it's a small(ish) pack, but the option would've been nice. Also make sure your reservoir has an on/off switch for the bite valve, less you accidentally press on the sleeve and it leaks...
Honestly, it's a pretty good pack once you get used to its quirks. The sleek profile is nice, the size for a single day of skiing is about right, the ski carry works well. It just feels like Black Diamond could've used a little more refinement.
I highly recommend it with the following caveat: though it's described as "made in the USA" at an otherwise reputable retailer, it might not be; mine, bought from just such a retailer, was not made in the US.

I received this backpack purse yesterday. It has tons of room for anything and everything. The leather is very nice and soft and looks well constructed. One reviewer mentioned that it smelled bad. When I read the review I thought okay, new leather smell is good. This purse doesn't smell like new leather ... it just smells bad. I'm hoping a little oiling and fresh air will fix it. It's beautiful and big enough to carry around in both sunny and rainy time. I received it 2 weeks prior to my trip, so I had enough time to leave it outside the closet to vent out the strong new leather smell. For the price, it's very great too.
Before searching from the internet, I went to a few stores to look for another backpack bag (I already have a good one in black from Nine West that I bought 3 years ago. Love it!) of brown color but could not find any one this good and this inexpensive.I rarely take the time to write reviews but I have to say how much I love this purse. I bought it in black and I like it so much that I came back to buy another just to keep in the closet for when this one wears out. Sad to see only brown is left, but I am very hopeful they will get the black back in stock! Keeping my fingers crossed. Great bag, plenty of storage to organize and secure pockets.First, let me get this out of the way, this is not a designer purse. My wife loves her smaller backpack purse and was always looking for a larger one as the smaller one is bloated with everything she carries in it. She has shopped locally and found it hard to find an affordable one like this purse. Luckily, Amazon as usual, came through along with it's 3rd party sellers.
Let's take a quick look at this purse.
PRO:
The zipper for the main center is well thought out. Provides a more secure situation. Too often, other backpack purses have the main zipper that going across like the outside zipper so someone may be able to unzip it without you knowing. This main zipper in the middle is from front of body to back (perpendicular to outside zipper). It gets folded over when you wear the purse, helping avoid easy theft.
It's a nice overall size, my wife is petite and I have to say it looks good on her, it doesn't look like she is wearing something too big for her size and this backpack has enough room to carry a bit of everything a woman carries, I guess.
Under $30, large enough for many things to be packed inside, affordable.
CON:
The texture and the material is hard. She ordered a different color (lighter) and that material was very soft, this one is hard to the point that the bottom portion that touches your back when wearing, hits against one's back when wearing. It's hard to explain in words but only once when you wear it, you will understand it. I don't know if it is because of different treatment or processing of the leathers, but this one was not comfortable.
The inside lining is cheap. It is acceptable but be careful with anything sharp or has pointed ends.
Conclusion:
Is it completely 100% leather? I doubt it. How long will it last? This remains to be seen. So far, she is very happy to find this type of purse. I would give it more stars but the hard dark brown leather prevents that.

I was excited to find that when these arrived they had no strong odor. I let them air out anyway and they have been perfect for my needs lightweight and very durable. And the color means I don't get my luggage confused with anyone else's. :-)I haven't had to use the medium or large one (only the carry on) but they appear to be just as great as the carry on. After having a lot of my stuff trashed on recent flights due to baggage handlers, I decided that I wanted hardside luggage. I have also been fortunate enough to have my luggage lost repeatedly, so I wanted something easy to identify. At the moment, there are not many people who fly with "orange" luggage, so identifying my missing bags is always easy. My last set was orange, and I don't think I could go back to anything less "high profile" with respect to appearance.With that said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind with this set:
1) Hardside does not equal hard case. The components are likely vacuum formed, and are fairly thin (0.020"?). As such, they are not rigid, but do seem to maintain their shape. Still a far cry better than standard, soft sided luggage.
2) These are budget pieces, and some aspects of them feel cheap. For example, the extendable handle on the carry-on sized piece, is telescoping. When fully extended, the handle dos not feel very robust. Maybe this is because I like to push the suitcase in an upright position while walking though airports (doing so takes bearing the weight of the suitcase off of you and put it onto the wheels). In this mode of operation the handle deflects about an inch due to the plastic bushings in the telescoping pieces.
3) The casters seem to do quite well. They are smooth and quiet, and seem to roll over most surfaces easily. Short carpet provides some extra resistance, but it isn't too bad. Time will tell how they hold up.
4) The Set is advertised as "Super Lightweight", this is true. The suitcases are very light. I would be willing to forgo a little weight savings for the rigidity of a thicker shell. But, again, these are budget minded pieces. The advertising scheme is that with a lighter case, you can pack more of your belongings inside without risk of being "overweight" on the airlines' scales. I figure that the weight savings equate to an extra change of underwear and socks. So, I'm not sure this is a tremendous advantage, as much as it is a marketing ploy. Also, I have high enough frequent flyer status that I do not pay for baggage. So, for me this is a moot point.
Overall, these are decent pieces, but I expect that they will be worn out in 4 or 5 years. I fly a lot, so your mileage may vary...

Bought the purple set of this luggage last week, packed all three, and headed to Mexico the next day. We are impressed with the ease of movement and transition of the wheels from one direction to another while rolling through the airports. The lightweight but sturdy shells protected the contents well and held up nicely to the treatment they received being thrown in and out of the luggage carts and cargo holds without being overly heavy. It was great not having to pack a separate toiletry bag, because not only did all my clothes and shoes fit in the biggest case, but I did not have to worry about the tubes or bottles being damaged and leaking all over everything. As mentioned in previous reviews, the set was a bit smelly (like new plastic) when it arrived, but I left the cases open overnight after spraying some Febreze in them, and by morning, the odor was completely gone. The liner for the purple set is tan, and I like that one side is completely covered and secured by a zipper, while the opposite side, which has equal packing space, has only the elastic straps to hold items in place. We bought this in red for our 5 year old because it is his favorite color. Surprise! The inside is pink. We bought two other colors for family members purple and orange---these two colors have grey interiors. Fortunately my son did not mind the pink. Phew! Both my sons were able to maneuver the carry ons all by themselves with no problem through connecting flights. Plus, these colors stood out on the luggage carousel amount the black bags. I highly recommend bright and dIfferent color sets for individual family members. So far only two tough trips and luggage looks as good as new. Two other problems, don't use locks provided as not airline approved and they will get cut, very plastic smelling...before our 1st flight we opened them up in garage and aired them out for three days. Otherwise, luggage is a good value and most importantly our boys wheeled their own luggage with pride which saved mommy's back.

It is a great bag. Holds in water from melted ice and did not leak. Drinks stays cool for few hours depending on if ice is used or not. Great shoulder padding so its comfortable for hours of walking such as in Disney. I believe it states it holds 24 cans but that would be hard fit. Held about 12 drinks. This is a nice larger size back-pack that can definitely hold lots of school books or toys n' stuff for that long car trip. My daughter did manage to overload the front pocket to the point where it ripped, BUT I don't attribute this to poor manufacturing. I seriously mean she OVERLOADED it! We're talking 'pretty rocks', DS, 4 coloring books & large box of crayons, 3 small stuffed animals, a slew of polly-pockets, her new Amer. Girl book, well, you get the idea! Anyway, I did manage to sew the pocket for an effective repair :) I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for my other daughter.
Incase CL55412 Heathered Backpack (Black)
Lots of room for a fairly thick widescreen 15" laptop, plus my ipad and extra materials. Only had it a month so can't talk to durability, but I think it looks great and have gotten compliments on it.The only thing I do not like about this backpack is part of something I DO like; the slim profile. The backpack is very "slim," which keeps it looking professional and less student-like, but does not expand very much if you have an odd shaped or long item (like a coffee tumbler) to put in an outer pocket.
If you're looking for a backpack that does not look out of place in a meeting or office lobby, this will do the job. If you're looking for something to put your books in and go to class, you're probably better served with something a little more flexible and expandable.
My previous bag was a Belkin Slim Backpack (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001586UI2/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which was great. Zipper finally slipped.
I ordered and returned the Belkin F8N344CW034 Dash Backpack (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Y5PZ0S/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) which is very functional, but just a bit wrinkly for the office.
The 17" may seem a bit large for a 15" MacBookPro retina, but that extra 2" at the top leaves extra room for the top loading pocket for wallet, keys, door badge. The bicycle lock goes into front compartment. Am starting to wear urban cycling shoes and stashing barefoot office shoes (such as the Vivobarefoot Men's Dharma Slip-on) in with the lock.
Only had it for a couple weeks, so no comment about durability. But, so far, has been great!

Having received this product two days ago I will only be able to tell you about the product NOT the experience I will be having a long trip soon so I will write a new review later.1st Star "The Look". This Backpack has a very modern look being Heathered. And the vertical zipper for the front pocket. Star awarded.
2nd Star "Usefulness". The back pack consists of 2 large pockets, 1 small pocket, and 1 medium pocket The Back pocket is where you are going to hold your computer. The back pocket also has a space to hold an iPad with some space left over to hold some papers or folders what have you, books maybe. The 2nd pocket is a small place for a phone or a iPod with a velvety lining. 3rd pocket is a large space for storage. A spot for your 30pin/USB and pen a charger a mouse. last is the front pocket with a velvet inside. For gum, boarding passes, itineraries. The shoulder steps are nice and the back pack never gets heavy. The back padding is also very comforting. Star awarded.
3rd Star "Price". But dang is this back pack expensive. $130 USD is a steep price for a back pack. No matter how nice the back pack is I don't think it needed to be that much. Good quality bad price. Star NOT awarded.
I'm giving it the other stars because it was just a well though out product. and i can't wait to use it some more.
Timbuk2 Candybar Laptop Backpack (Black/Black/Black, Medium)
The photos for this backpack show it has a printed liner. I actually almost didn't order it because I wasn't sure that liner was "me". However, my backpack arrived with a gray liner, which is perfect. But Amazon should probably update the photos because it isn't really representative of the item.This is a smaller backpack I'm 5"2 and have a hard time finding a bag that doesn't overwhelm me. I need a bag to carry to and from work lunch & snacks, computer and papers, and all those little things that make life easier when you are away from home. Another reviewer described this as an "urban backpack" and I think that's spot on.
Even though it is small, it is very roomy. It is advertised to hold an iPad, but in reality, my 13" Mac Powerbook fits in the computer compartment perfectly. That, plus my lunch and a few zippered bags that contain my essentials don't even come close to filling the bag halfway. I'm planning on taking it on a weekend trip soon and I'm sure I can pack a pair of jeans and shirt and a second pair of shoes along with what's normally there.
I only have two complaints about the bag: 1) Because of the design of the organizer compartment, the bag tends to fall over instead of standing up (my wallet in the organizer pocket is heavier than the bag when the computer isn't in it. 2) The organizer pockets are short, meaning a fork and/or toothbrush can't sit in it (they do fit in my Small Timbuk2 Messenger bag).
This bag fits my 15" Dell Latitude Laptop, lunch and small pouch for personal items and plenty of room for the cord but luckily I don't need to carry the cord with me. Plently of room for a small umbrella or sweater too. There is cushion to protect the laptop but not for throwing the packpack around/being rough with it, just enough to keep it protected while moving around from place to place.
The flap is vlecro so if someone were to try to take something out of your bag, you would be well aware. The straps are curved which allows for a very comfortable fit. The outside zipper compartment is great for keeping small items handy pen/phone, etc. And there is a section that could easily fit a water bottle that is not in the same section as the main storage section where you would put a laptop. The "water bottle section" also has slots for cards but I would not use it for that since you could slip a hand in there pretty easily and grab a card or it could fall out so I wouldn't use that feature. There is also another zipper section within the "water bottle section" as well. Lots of places to put things and keep them well organized.
I would especially recommend this for women for the small size.

Gregory Mountain Products Z 65 Backpack
I recently did some comparison shopping for a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon. I am not a highly experienced hiker, so I relied on a lot of magazine reviews and online articles. I looked at several options, including much more expensive bags from other manufacturers. The main reasons that I chose the Gregory Z65 were a good blend of capacity (65l), weight (just over 4 pounds unpacked) and options. I love the suspension system and certain things like hiking pole areas, a rain cover that allows storage and multiple access points.I recently loaded her up with 25 pounds of equipment and did a 10 mile hike close to home. I made quite a few adjustments to the waist belt and shoulder straps, but once everything was adjusted the pack was very comfortable.
The compression straps really help to keep your gear from moving around and the shape of the pack really works when going through small areas like caves. The padding on the straps is sturdy while also being comfortable.
I did a month worth of research before purchasing this one. I looked at Deuters, Acer'ytyx (or something like that) and North Face and found this to be the best blend of what I am seeking. I don't expect to be using this pack every weekend, so for a two or three times a year this is perfect for me.
For someone who does more outside, I would recommend the Gregory Baltoro in a similar size. I really liked the Baltoro, but couldn't justify the additional $100-$150 for that upgrade. However, most of my research indicates that it is money well spent.
The reasons I chose the Z65 versus the Baltoro were cost (about 2/3 of the cost of the Baltoro with similar options) and weight and capacity. I could have bought a larger pack, but then you have the associated increase in weight.
BTWI was able to purchase my Z65 from an online auction site, brand-new in the bag with the $230 retail tags still on it, for $120....I would have been in for $250-$300 for a similar Baltoro...
The material, seams, and connections are very solid. The is an extremely well made pack I expect to eventually pass down to my son.
The lack of a rain cover was not surprising, but still a little disappointing to have to make an additional purchase for such a simple item.
The lack of zippered pockets for small items was a problem. No safe place to put keys, wallet, phone, etc. Though there is a hanging clip for a key, it did not work for my type of key, so had to have a friend stow my valuables.
The side pouch, where I kept my Nalgene was too far back for me. I could barely get the anything out of the pocket and had to have a friend put it back in place.
The zippered pouches in the front waist strap were just right for a small camera and sunglasses.
Even with the minor issues, it is clear that this pack is a cut above the store brand packs, so was well worth the small extra cost.
One other note on this pack: It was cheaper in blue than in the other colors, which I assume is because the blue does not look as good in the pictures. I felt the same way about the color, though bought it anyway. In reality, the blue looks fine.

I bought this pack for a once-in-a-lifetime hike/camp across the Grand Canyon and it worked beautifully. It held everything I needed for the 4 day trip. Food, cloths, tent, sleeping bag and all the hiking/camping accessories one would require. I tried many different packs and found this one to be very price competitive, durable and comfortable (as 50 pounds on your back could be :) It was easy to wear and remove at the end of the day. I'm 6'1" and choose the medium size, because it was on sale, held what I needed and I'm at the upper limit of its recomended torso size. This is my 11th Briggs and Riley bag. I have traveled to hell and back several times and Briggs and Riley has never let me down. This bag is a materpiece of efficiency. The front compartment has a lot of pockets to fit everything from pens to calculators and everything shows great attention to detail and fine workmanship. It is expandable. The pockets are all roomy, the zippers high quality, and the overall fit and finish top notch. The laptop fits into a separate sleeve that is tethered to the bag. At a TSA checkpoint, you slide the laptop out but it stays attached to the bag. After they look at it, just slide it back in, very simple. It has a piece on the back that allows it to lock onto the handle of a bigger rolling bag, and it comes with a great shoulder strap. Of all the laptop bags I've seen, this is the best thought out and best constructed bag out there.Two things that bear mention. First, I have an HP 17.3 inch computer, not a 17 inch. I read on another website that my laptop would not fit this bag, and at first, I believed it. But I wanted to find out so I went to a retailer and tried it out. It fit perfectly. There was no stress on seams, no forcing, it was a perfect fit.
Second, the reason I have 11 Briggs bags is that I use them and once in a great while they get damaged. I once had an 8 year-old Briggs garment bag totally destroyed by an airline. The bag was so mangled that everything in it was dumped into two of those big tubs and the pieces of the bag ino a third tub. I sent the pieces to Briggs and in a week, I had a new bag. Other times, it has been a wheel, or a zipper or a handle, and every stinkin' time it has been fixed at no cost and returned to me with a smile. No BS, no hassles, no "yeah, but...". They just honor their warranty. I read about other bag's "Limited Lifetime Warrenty" and the forums are filled with stories of how that manufacturer didn't honor it because of something in the fine print. Briggs honors their warranty.
In short, it is a great bag made by a great company. You'll never go wrong with Briggs and Riley.
The Briggs & Riley wins out HANDS DOWN in terms of intelligence of design, attention to detail, construction and size, and stacks up nicely when it comes to style. While I have yet to take it on the road I find that this case easily manages to accommodate all of the gear we road warriors travel with, and I in particular travel with a lot: laptop, two iPhones, a Blackberry, a Tom Tom, lots of files and folders, 3 ring binder, pens and markers, car chargers for the two phones you name it. It has a perfect space for everything one might need and looks sharp as well. Oh, and by the way, you've gotta love the lifetime warranty! This bag is heavy duty. The materials are high quality and are stitched very well. Extremely water-resistant. There are plenty of compartments and slots for pencils and data sticks, etc. Straps are well paddedI just didn't like how it is really tall, narrow, and not deep enough for a college student with science books. I prefer something a little shorter, wider, and deeper, but thats my fault for not reading the dimensions.
Kipling Hiker Expandable Backpack
I ordered this backpack due to its expandable feature and its favorable customer reviews on Amazon. Having ordered it in "true blue" color, I felt disappointed to see it's a drab navy-blue. The front (small-pouch) and rear (accordion expansion) zippers ride on thick gray plastic teeth, and are thus easy to find. However, the second (medium-pouch) and third (large-pouch) zippers ride on thin black plastic teeth. This, plus the fact that each zipper handle is finished with a black disk, makes the second and third zippers hard to locate, especially in dim lighting. Worse still, both the front (small-pouch) and second (medium-pouch) zipper track have the shape of an upside-down U, with a single zipper opening from the lower left corner. Due to this design, if you neglect to close the zipper completely, your items in the small or medium pouch are at risk of falling out -as happened once with my cell phone. In a well-designed backpack, most items will remain secure even if you forget to completely close a zipper. The attached plush gorilla toy provide a cute touch, but does not make up for the careless zipper design.
We like to take cruises on occasion, and she finds this to be just the right thing for carry-on aboard the ship. And with the bag's expansion feature, we can stuff it full of the souvenirs we seem to collect on the cruise.

I've been looking for a backpack for my husband when we go travelling. We love that it's not too big and bulky for a day out, and has the option of expanding it (for when we need to stuff things that can't fit the suitcase). The material is lightweight but durable, zippers function well.Personally, I find the design a little drab but my husband disagrees (he's prefers function over style anyway).
