I received this backpack purse yesterday. It has tons of room for anything and everything. The leather is very nice and soft and looks well constructed. One reviewer mentioned that it smelled bad. When I read the review I thought okay, new leather smell is good. This purse doesn't smell like new leather ... it just smells bad. I'm hoping a little oiling and fresh air will fix it. That is my only complaint. In every other way it's perfect.

I'm very glad that I bought this purse to use during my family vacation in GA and SC last week.

It's beautiful and big enough to carry around in both sunny and rainy time. I received it 2 weeks prior to my trip, so I had enough time to leave it outside the closet to vent out the strong new leather smell. For the price, it's very great too.

Before searching from the internet, I went to a few stores to look for another backpack bag (I already have a good one in black from Nine West that I bought 3 years ago. Love it!) of brown color but could not find any one this good and this inexpensive.

I bought it in black and I like it so much that I came back to buy another just to keep in the closet for when this one wears out. First, let me get this out of the way, this is not a designer purse. My wife loves her smaller backpack purse and was always looking for a larger one as the smaller one is bloated with everything she carries in it. She has shopped locally and found it hard to find an affordable one like this purse. Luckily, Amazon as usual, came through along with it's 3rd party sellers.

Let's take a quick look at this purse.

PRO:

The zipper for the main center is well thought out. Provides a more secure situation. Too often, other backpack purses have the main zipper that going across like the outside zipper so someone may be able to unzip it without you knowing. This main zipper in the middle is from front of body to back (perpendicular to outside zipper). It gets folded over when you wear the purse, helping avoid easy theft.

It's a nice overall size, my wife is petite and I have to say it looks good on her, it doesn't look like she is wearing something too big for her size and this backpack has enough room to carry a bit of everything a woman carries, I guess.

Under $30, large enough for many things to be packed inside, affordable.

CON:

The texture and the material is hard. She ordered a different color (lighter) and that material was very soft, this one is hard to the point that the bottom portion that touches your back when wearing, hits against one's back when wearing. It's hard to explain in words but only once when you wear it, you will understand it. I don't know if it is because of different treatment or processing of the leathers, but this one was not comfortable.

The inside lining is cheap. It is acceptable but be careful with anything sharp or has pointed ends.

Conclusion:

Is it completely 100% leather? I doubt it. How long will it last? This remains to be seen. So far, she is very happy to find this type of purse. I would give it more stars but the hard dark brown leather prevents that.

These bags are great. I have used Seal Line bags for years now and I've always been happy with their quality and performance. These are a very thin light weight version compared to others I have used. I've used this bag several times outdoors and it's always kept its contents perfectly dry. However, I read a review on another site that criticized this bag for leaking badly. So, I decided to test it. I turned it inside out and and filled it with about a half a gallon of water and hung it up over my kitchen sink overnight with some dry paper underneath. Lassig Kids Mini Backpack

(by A Dad) I returned it immediately. Overall, the product wasn't bad: construction was appropriate for cost, styling as represented in the picture, but there were two critical design flaws that rendered it unusable as a kids backpack. Both of them stem from the fact the buckles visible in the picture are purely decorative. First, the magnetic closures for the main pocket are far too weak to actually close it reliably. Basically, load it with anything heavier than an empty water bottle, turn it upside and shake it, and everything's likely to fall straight out. Second, the decorative buckles attached to the magnetic closures are sewn on upside down, so they fall open when the backpack is worn. This leaves the tang sticking out at about eye level for a kid one year younger than the one wearing the backpack as a significant safety hazard. When I say "significant," I would only consider a 5-year-old with a Class 3B laser to be a "significant" hazard if it was a particularly immature 5-year-old who wouldn't stop horsing around with it. Any child of any age can handle a Class 2 and below laser safely with what I would consider "no significant" hazard. Anyway, the idea of sending these incidental eye-pokers out into a busting mass of mini-humans just didn't sit right with me, so I deemed it unusable as a kid's backpack and returned it.

Protec Slim Notebook/Tablet Messenger Brief

I bought this as a carrying case for my iPad 2. I wanted a pocket for the iPad with padding, along with an extra pocket to be able to carry a folder of papers or a small notebook. I also wanted to be able to carry the charger and have a pocket or two for other stuff, like pens and business cards. I picked this one because it seemed like it would fit my iPad with my Fieldfolio case on it -something many of the others I looked at would not do.

Not only does this fill those expectations, but -get this -its big enough to carry my iPad while it is in a Fieldfolio AND my macbook 13" unibody (same size as macbook pro), AND chargers for both, some papers, AND a Moleskin, AND a myriad of other small items. Yet , its overall mass is probably a third of my main bag, a Brenthaven convertible that fits up to a 15" laptop.

I was skeptical about the brand, having never heard of it, but it seems they've been making musical instrument cases since the 70's and only recently ventured into laptop/electronics bags. It seems very well made and comes with a shoulder strap and a nice luggage ID tag. It has 2 hand straps one attached to each side of the bag, so it does not suffer from the hand carry strap balance issues I've read in reviews of some other messenger bags.

If I see any issues over longer term use, I'll update here. But this is a nice bag at what I consider a good price.

eBags Packing Cubes - 3pc Set

These are great packing cubes. I purchased the grasshopper color to compliment my Eagle Creek packing cubes. The material and the dimensions are slightly different than the Eagle Creek but I use both interchangeably. The mesh is great for both seeing whats in the cube and breathability. I recommend packing cubes to anyone using carry on luggage and/or wanting to be organized. I use the medium sized cube packed in an Osprey Backpack for an entire weekend away. Handles a 2 dresses, 2 capris,4 shirts, bathing suit and cover-up, underwear, swimsuit with room to spare.

This was my second set of packing cubes my fiance stole my first set because they are so useful. When traveling, they keep everything separate and can do double duty as laundry bags on the way back. When not traveling, I use them as a sweater box. Very useful.

I have been using various packing cubes for a number of years. I ordered these as a great way to have a color-coded bag system. At the time of the order I was very frustrated due to lack of data--I was suspicious that the "large" was too big, but I could not see enough product information to tell.

I have just received two sets of these. The "large" is VERY large. You would need to have a VERY large suitcase to make this a logical way to pack, and by putting many different things into one of them, you lose the entire benefit of organization. The other two are the correct sizes and are "ok", but not of the quality of Eagle Creek or Rick Steves (which I didn't expect) or Target--which I was hoping for. If they were all usable sizes, I would keep them, because they would probably do the job adquately.

I will sadly be returning them if they don't charge a big return fee--I really wanted "grasshopper" and "red"!

In general, the correct sizes of packing cubes are the most efficient way to pack! I didn't try them when they first came out because I was afraid I would "lose" all those edges and spaces in between where I could put so much, but the cubes have worked out incredibly well for moving about. It may be less important if you are only going to sleep in one place, but I still use them for that as well because I can organize tops, pants, undies, etc. (and they stay nicely folded). I can still put a few things things in between (like flip-flops, etc.). They also work to compress if you overfill the cube, press down, and pull the zipper closed--You can probably compress an inch if the bag is well packed.

For moving about--there's nothing to match it. No searching for anything--it's all in it's own small "drawers". And going home is so simple; empty as many as it takes and pack your dirty clothes in those and combine clean things. At home, all you have to do is take the correct cubes to the laundry room and sort! Seminar over...

I just received my Igloo Duo lunch back pack and it is all that I expected. Its very roomy inside and will easily fit my water jug and coffee thermos plus lunch for my day at work. Dakine 33-Litre Interval Wet/Dry Pack

First, I got to note that I was specifically looking for a bag to take outdoors, and that does not have a laptop compartment, or bunch of pen organizers (who uses pens, these days, right?). Turns out that the choice for that type of bag is very limited, all the packs these days are oriented towards laptop-carrying folks. I already have a bag that I use for that, so my goal was to get something that's durable and comfortable, and can be taken to the beach, hike, or a bike ride. Dakine bags are all very well made, and this one is no exception. Stitching is nice, and materials are great. This bag is great all around, I can fit a couple of beach towels, some drinks and snacks, my sunglasses, and some light surf gear and head to the beach. The wetsuit pocket isn't big enough to fit a full-sized wetsuit, but great for bringing back wet booties or board shorts without getting everything else wet. The front cooler pocket holds a lot more than seems at first, and is really handy. Straps are comfortable, and the sternum strap is good for using this when biking particularly to prevent straps from sliding back.

Fjallraven Kanken Backpack

I have been using these bags since I first bought one in Stockholm almost ten years ago. The design is great--they are very lightweight, comfortable with reasonable loads, and obviously classic looking. Unfortunately they are overpriced for what they are. I bought a new bag about a month ago and I'm not impressed with the durability. It seems like the prices have gone up a lot without any increase in manufacturing quality. For a small daypack that costs $75, you'd expect it to be something better made than a Wal-Mart item. But the fabric on the inside started fraying immediately and now a small hole has appeared on the bottom of the pack. I love these bags for their style and function, but I really feel a bit stupid for paying so much for a bag that look so beat up after only a month of use. I've never gotten a hole in any of my other backpacks, even ones I've use for multiday trips in the backcountry.

Unfortunately these packs are now a fashion item, so Fjallraven can double the prices, send the manufacturing to the cheapest factories, and people will still buy them. Note that this $75 schoolchildren's backpack is made in Vietnam, not Sweden.

I used to use messenger and tote bags before buying my Kanken, and it is probably the most resilient, well-designed, and downright greatest bag for carrying around my university campus.

It's original and practical. Most backpacks have rounded tops, which I never found useful for anything, but the rectangular design on this is just right for books. Inside, there is a tall pocket in the back which is useful for little essentials like eyedrops, altoids, and toiletries you'd rather not have out in the open every time you open the bag. Retrieving items from inside is made exceptionally easy, partly due to the rectangular shape and the easy with which the front can be folded down. There's room for about three 1.5'' binders or two 1.5'' binders and one 14'' laptop. Outside, the front pocket offers enough room for a phone, wallet, and keys. The two pockets on the sides I often use for a small umbrella and a disposable water bottle. My favorite part is that the zippers are quality YKK zips and don't have or need the dangling tassels many backpacks have, which often fray or fall off anyway.

The only real con is that the straps are not padded and easily chafe bare skin (but in terms of design, the thinness is nice and is less bulky than, say, Jansport Straps)...if you're in Europe, there are a lot of stores that sell padded straps as an accessory, though they're harder to find in the US. Also, if you're looking to carry more than one huge, heavy textbook, I don't recommend this since it's not especially large. It's not waterproof, only slightly water-resistant, and I would recommend buying wax to coat it on days with heavy rain; it can easily get soaked BUT it dries up relatively quickly, doesn't warp, and isn't prone to stains--from either wet or dry elements. I have never had to clean it and it's only slightly dirty on the bottom (my own fault) and have not yet needed to sew anything up for any reason.

In terms of durability, the quality is really impeccable. I've owned mine for more than a year now, taken it to university, through crowded NYC public transportation, and on numerous vacations and the zippers and most of the seams are very much the same as when I bought it.

All in all, I love this backpack and I've spent a lot of time looking at new backpacks for school only to end up wanting to get another Kanken in a different color.

I had one of these packs years ago, before it was a fashion pad. I have to say the boxy design is a turn off. They look cute on kids, but for adults it is not flattering. The straps are not too comfortable, so I would not put more than one to two books. The main compartment and the accessory pocket are both not huge, don't expect to put a MEAD notebook in them. The removable cushion on the back is a plus if you are using it for outdoor purpose. The side pocket is very narrow and would not fit most water bottle (maybe a smallish plastic evian). The material is not too durable, mine worn down quickly within a year; and $75 for a pack is (cheap by Swedish standard) but expensive by frugal US standard. I would not recommend this product for students going to school, maybe to lug around town for casual errands.

I'll be doing a good bit of camping and don't want to carry all my heavy gear for just a sweatshirt, food, and water when I leave base camp. This backpack is absolutely perfect! It has a great amount of storage space and can hold a lot of things if I need it to. Recently it was the best carry-on bag for the airport. The only minor set back is that the straps are thin and can twist up easily; which is hardly a thing to mention anyway. It is so light that I barely notice I'm carrying anything. Plus, it doubles as a pillow when needed. Last but not least, it's beautiful. I recommend this backpack to anyone, because I know you'll love it too! Thanks Earth Divas!

BUILT 13-Inch Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro Neoprene Sleeve, Rain Drop

I've been very pleased with this protective sleeve for my new model 13-inch MacBook Pro. As a flight attendant I travel through airport security often and have not gotten a single scratch on my precious MBP while protected securely inside the BUILT neoprene sleeve. The sleeve pulls easily in and out of my tote bag. I believe the shape of the sleeve protects the corners of my laptop and gives me an extra sense of security. I love the color scheme of this sleeve and I love it even more in person. The colors in person are a little more sophisticated, not as bright as it looks on the product page (at least on my computer.)

Bottom line--I would purchase this again without hesitation. My 13-inch MacBook Pro is secure and safe and I am confident enough to use it in a bag without a designated laptop pocket.

This laptop case is listed as an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro product, however it is also the perfect fit for my 13-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga. The zipper closure is awesome and opens/closes without any difficulty and the neoprene lining is so soft and adds extra cushion. The photos of the product don't do it justice, as the colors are very vibrant and bright. I am extremely happy with this sleeve.
