Mobile Edge Premium Backpack Yellow/Black MEBPP4

Mobile Edge Premium Backpack Yellow/Black MEBPP4I wish to thank Targus and Amazon. I went cheap and bought the Targus

TXL617 17 XL Back pack. It was about $18 dollars cheaper and I'm a

trying to save pennies (aren't we all?).

After traveling less than one week with the Targus, the flap clip broke

and had a problem with the main zipper (workmanship).

Amazon refunded the entire cost, so I order the Black premium.

Boy, am I glad.

The workman ship is a heck of a lot better!

The straps are a whole lot sturdier and WAY more comfortable. This is an

understatement!

Here's the rub, a friend has the same model Targus, but it was well over

a year old, they went cheap on the newer model and the workmanship has

changed for the worst. I based my original purchase on the older model

(with same model number) because of HIS experience and recommendation.

He also agreed, the newer version was lower quality and they removed

some cool features.

He's now eyeing the ScanFast Checkpoint Friendly Backpack, even though

his Targus is still in good shape (guilt maybe).

Never owned a Mobile Edge before, but the saying "you get what you pay

for" has hit me hard (in a good way).

The Premium also has better protection than the Targus.

I knew the Premium has more padding from reviews, but I thought it

would have a lot less space because of this. I'm darned stoked to be

proven wrong.

I can still fit a Pavilion DV7-2xxx (17.3") into a Caselogic PLS-17

Sleeve with the Power Supply/mouse into the padded backpack holder!

The HP DV7 is 16.2 x 10.9" and with added bulk of the sleeve, P/S &

Mouse in the zippered sleeve pocket, it fit like a glove. Tight enough

to not need the Velcro strap, but can still slide the lappy in and out

easy.

Thanks to Mobile Edge's competition, my investment in Premium Backpack

has made me a happy camper. It will also hold a whole bunch of tech

gear, and all the cables in one neat package.

I do not work for Mobile Edge or been fired by Targus.

This pack is the best pack I have ever owned. It is very well built....far better than Targus or Swiss.

I travel on 4 planes per week and have gone through many packs, until I got this one.

Mobile Edge makes great products. I beg that you come out with a pack that can fit the Lenovo W700ds.

AmeriLeather Traditional Leather Backpack

AmeriLeather Traditional Leather BackpackHad the product description been right, I would have given this product a 5 out of 5. However, because the description is wrong (the pictures are correct though) I deducted one star.

As far as service goes service was great, no complaints

Areas where the product description is worng:

1) The backpack straps are NOT detachable. They are the standard strap style that you will find on any backpack. I was disappointed in this, because my backpacks are typically ruined when the straps rip out (AKA I load my backpacks up with heavy books and most standard straps rip their stitching out). I was really looking forward to recieving a backpack that had re-enforced attachments for the straps.

2) There are NO side pockets; however, there are plenty of pockets in the front.

3) This backpack has a total of 5 compartment. Other then the main compartment you have one that is capable of a text book. The remaining 3 are appropiate size for pens and office supplies.

4) The U-zipper on this backpack goes almost all the way to the bottom of the bag. It stops about an inch and a half up from the base. This is a wonderful over the standard backpack design as it allows you easily stack your books in the backpack. My previous backpack I had to stand the books up in. I would say that this U-zipper design by itself makes the backpack worth owning.

The one thing that is expressed in the product description very well is the dimensions. This is a very deep backpack, with a base that is 5" wide. If you are like me and typically carry the majority of your college books in your backpack then you will love this. I just started nursing school and was very pleased to find out that ALL of my books for the semester can be carried inside this backpack.

I would recommend this backpack to a friend, in fact I intend to. As I stated before the only thing I am wary about is having the standard style of backpack straps.

This is a larger backpack and it is absolutely wonderful. I use it every day on my way to work on the scooter. The leather is very soft and doesn't smell. A great product and will buy one for my husband.

This is a hefty backpack and its quite durable, it's just not the most fitting to your back. The main pocket it really large and that males my books fit strange and for some reason it doesn't fit in my back very well. But it is an overall good backpack

These backpacks are an amazing product for the price. I purchased two, for my husband and for me, mainly for airline travel that way these roomy packs can be in lieu of a purse or bag, and with the allowed carry-ons, we can avoid checking luggage. They are handsome and very functional. There is plenty of room for travel essentials, a change of clothes, and I include a small handbag to use once we are at our destination. The backpack costs less than a quality handbag and is way more versatile. I couldn't be happier with this product!

I liked that the two zippers go down the side far enough that you can zip the laptop up while its charging without a problem. It's also well made.

The only issue is that it is not as snug around the laptop as I would like. It says its for a 14" laptop, but it seems like it would better fit a 15"

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Nylon Rolling Travel Backpack (Black)

Nylon Rolling Travel BackpackAll in all, I'm not very impressed. Here's why:

* It's smaller than I thought it was from the picture. I bought it so I could carry a few books with me that were getting heavy to carry around in a backpack. They won't all fit. Yes, this item has less capacity than your average school-style backpack.

* Something about the way its walls are made makes it really difficult to retrieve items from it. Instead of being able to just slide a book out, I seem to have to fight with it and wriggle a book free from its grasp.

* It doesn't sit straight. When you leave it upright, it leans back so far that unless all the weight is in the bottom (sacrificing about half its capacity), it will fall over.

I don't think I'll ever use it again. I wish I could return it.

I use it to pack my clean clothing and shower stuff to take to the gym. It fits in a locker very nicely, and I can put my lunch pack on top. It stays there. It sure beats carrying all that stuff.

Buy Nylon Rolling Travel Backpack (Black) Now

It's a ten dollar backpack...it's not going to survive if it's being used by a careless kid who doesn't use it properly like rolling it through the dirt or loose gravel, yanking the zipper open or shoving books in it. I've had mine for three months, and it is still in good shape. However, it does not stay upright unless positioned against a chair or desk leg. It depends on whether this is a feature willing to be sacrificed for the price. All in all, if you have a kid who's on the disorganized side and is a little rough on his belongings, it may be better to invest in something else.

Red Ipod Mp3 College School Sling Backpack Bag

Red Ipod Mp3 College School Sling Backpack BagI love this bag. It's a tad small, as in it can't hold a whole lot, but it's what you should expect. It is a true red and not as orangey as the picture seems to show. My only con about the bag is that the tightness strap on the strap gets really long as you tighten it. It just hangs there and looks pretty stupid. You can tuck it under the strap when you put it, but that gets annoying and isn't convenient when you'e in a rush. I hot glued mine, but I'll have to remove and reglue if I want to readjust it. I think I'm just gonna cut it and but the tips to it doesn't fray. I still love it though!

Timbuk2 Copilot Roller Bag

Timbuk2 20-Inch Co-Pilot Roller, Black/Black/Black, SmallI'm pretty serious about my bags since I travel quite a bit. Once again in search for the 'perfect' suitcase, I stumbled upon the Co-Pilot suitcase. In my quest, I bought the 20 inch Co-Pilot, the 22 inch Co-Pilot, and even the 22 inch Checkpoint. I read the reviews, watched just about every video out there, but I needed to hold one in my hand and do a dry run of how I would normally pack into my suitcases.

I used to own a Delsey 20 inch carry-on and sling my Timbuk2 Commuter onto it when I'm on the go, but I was also looking for something to consolidate the suitcase and messenger into one when necessary. A friend has an Antler (UK brand) carry-on suitcase that I loved because it has a compartment that holds your laptop, yet it was a vertical pull case and not the horizontal ones that you often see business people with at airports. I don't like the horizontal ones because they tend to be short and fat and really don't hold a whole lot when you need it for trips that are more than overnighters. So, my requirements were a vertical pull carry-on that can hold clothes, laptop (and other electronics), and easily accessible when needed.

First that arrived was the 22 inch Co-Pilot. I pitted it against my tried and true Delsey, which has solid and rigid sides, a good thing; the Co Pilot doesn't and I knew that going in. But, with a basic blanket test to see the volume, the Co Pilot trumped the Delsey without even showing any bulge. I could barely zip up the Delsey. It fit my Thinkpad T410s (14in wide) in the front zipper and it fit perfect (thought I'd probably still put it in a sleeve just in case). Overall, I thought it was nice, but I felt it looked a bit large. So...

I ordered the 20 inch Co-Pilot and the 22 inch Checkpoint.

In short, the 20in Checkpoint had a manufacturing defect in the neoprene zipper I noticed when I was doing the blanket test. The mesh ripped, which leads me to believe that I may have to be careful in the future. But, with Timbuk2's excellent warranty, I wasn't too concerned. The 22in Checkpoint, I felt was a little bit too flippy floppy for my tastes and won't be able to handle any sort of airport-luggage-handler-crush-tests. So, the 22in Co-Pilot wins.

Now, the real life test.

We took this for a weekend trip and were able to fit mine and my wife's clothes (summer Seattle weather) and my 18mo old's stuff all inside without any bulge. I was amazed. We usually would have to carry two bags. On the plane (Alaska Air and UA on the return), it was a perfect fit into the overhead compartment. I was pleased with the results. The rollerskate wheels were quick and quiet around the airport and the compartmentalized sides are great for quick access instead of rummaging through a bunch of clothes. For even better packing, use packing cubes! We used the shoe pocket for our flip flops, but you can use it for your toiletries as well for those times you need to deal with the TSA.

Next major run, two weeks in Asia. I'm ready.

--UPDATE 10.20.2011 ---

Yes, I went on a 12 day business trip to Asia. I packed 7 days worth of work and casual clothes in there and came back with a ton more stuff. I ended up using a backpack in combo with the Co-Pilot, but I think I came back with double the amount that I left with. Everything fit just fine and I was even able to stash it in as a carry-on in United Airlines 737. Be careful of some of the 737's since the side compartments tend to be smaller than the middle ones. Otherwise, all's well and I'm still lovin' the Co-Pilot 22!

--UPDATE 06.20.2012 ---

Since getting the bag, I've been traveling with the Co-Pilot 22in for almost 20 trips (domestic and international) and couldn't love the bag more! It's been through rain, snow, and dirty streets in China and the bag still looks brand new. I get lots of looks and I love how I can spot it easily coming down the conveyor belt.

Skateboard wheels--I'm mixed about them. They work awesome on smooth tile and road terrain, but being that most airports are carpeted, they create a lot of friction and can get tiring real quick. They look nice and are whisper quiet, though!

If I could, I'd like to make a suggestion to Timbuk2 to their suitcases. I've had and still use two Timbuk2 messenger bags (one now a camera bag and the other, my work bag) and they both have reflector tabs on them. Because I know I'll always at some point walk in the dark, I'd like to prevent getting hit as much as I can. So, I stuck on a couple 3M reflector strips on the front and the back of Co-Pilot. This also greatly helps visibility when I'm waiting for my ride--I just turn my bag towards incoming cars and they can spot me quickly. It doesn't have to be huge, but just accent enough to be spottable.

--UPDATE 09.11.2012 ---

It's been about a year and about 60K miles with this suitcase throughout the US, Canada, and Asia. I'm bummed. A couple of seams are coming apart from the side of the bag. While I, and you I'm sure, occasionally "pack it in", this should not happen this easily and this early in the game. The seams haven't popped open to where the innards are exposed, but I fear the inevitable. :(

I purchased the 20" Copilot from eBags directly because they had a great sale and I happen to live in Seattle (where Amazon also lives). The listing on Amazon for this bag can be confusing so here is what I know about this bag from looking at the Timbuk site. The name of the bag is the Copilot Roller which comes in three sizes (S,M,XL) as indicated by a small fabric tag on the inside of the bag. The bag can be referred to as the 20" Copilot, 22" Copilot or 28" Copilot depending on the height of the bag. On many other sites the Copilot Roller is also referred to as the Copilot Footlocker and in fact the attached cardboard tag on my bag says "copilot footlocker." (It also says the color is black/black/black even though the bag is black/gunmetal/black so it is likely the wrong tag.) The Amazon listing is confusing because it lists the 20" Copilot Footlocker as available in three sizes when in fact 20" is size small.

The bag, as noted by other reviewers, is a tad larger than the stated dimensions. The height of the 20" (small) Copilot is 20" from the wheel axle to the top of the bag so even though the bag is 20" the wheels and stand support extend about 1.1" beyond 20". If the bag is overstuffed it will also easily exceed its depth dimension of 9". This means that even the smallest Copilot at 20" is still a larger carry-on bag and may not meet international carry-on standards even though it is less than 45" in all dimensions. (Also, it is likely that the actual height for all the Copilots is 1.1" more than listed.)

The bag is a clamshell design with zippered mesh webbing over each half on the inside so that when opened everything stays in place. The front half of the bag is soft and the back half is rigid. What might not be seen in the photo's is that it has handles on both sides as well as the top and under the top handle in a tiny zippered compartment is a piggyback strap. This bag is light for its size which is ideal for a carry-on bag but I have my doubts as to the survivability of the copilot as checked baggage.

My bag was made in China (Timbuk2 also has factories in the Philippines for non-custom production). Unlike other Timbuk2 bags, this one needed a few days to off-gas.

I decided to purchase the Timbuk2 model as a smaller carry-on bag (although the 20" is larger than I anticipated) and also, in case I do check it, to make it easier to visually recognize my bag on the belt. My old 22" black Samsonite is remarkably indistinguishable from all the other square black pieces of luggage when circling on the conveyor.

Buy Timbuk2 Copilot Roller Bag Now

I have always had brand loyalty for Timbuk2 products ever since purchasing my first messenger bag, so I was extremely excited to see them come up with a suitcase.

I bought the smallest one because I thought the TSA maximum carry on size was 45 linear inches, and the medium one's dimensions are just over that. The medium one is actually abount an inch too big although timbuk2 says it's acceptable. I got the smallest size so there will be no dispute about it, in case they start becoming more strict about carry on sizes.

First the positive:

The quality of the material, like most timbuk2 products, is among the highest I've ever seen for suitcases. Strong and light at the same time.

I travel frequently as a poker player, so I was looking for a carry on that won't rip after a few trips. I used to go through one every few months. So far, I've used this 5 times and it's still in "like new" condition. So if quality of material is your primary concern, this is an excellent buy.

Now the negatives:

The suitcase is actually a bit bulkier than the dimensions say. If you use the front pocket for something such as a laptop or a large book, then it will be slightly too fat to fit in the overhead bins in some planes. This makes the front pocket pretty much useless if you're planning to use this suitcase as a carry-on, so you're pretty much stuck with the two clamshell compartments to put all your stuff.

Even with the added bulk, I found that I couldn't fit that much stuff in mine. The problem with the design is that it's harder to use all the space in the corners. There's a zipper web cover for each side of the clamshell but the lining of it extends over the edge which is slightly annoying. Also, the bottom is not flat which also makes it harder to pack at full capacity.

Bought the 22" (medium) Copilot, then agonized over whether I should have bought the 20" version instead. Have used this bag for both air travel and car travel now, and like it very much.

Like: Much lighter than my previous (very old) carry on. Grab handles on every side make overhead stowing and retrieval a breeze (I'm a wuss and had no trouble holding the packed bag over my head). Wheels are quiet and wide enough it doesn't tip much. TONS of room inside (even packed my pillow in there, along with everything else for a long weekend). Weird neoprene zippers ROCK, I was not sure what to expect but they are stretchy and practical and go easily around anything.

Dislike: Yes it is 22 x 14 x 9 but each of those dimensions is a good half to three-quarters of an inch bigger than stated. Fit easily into Southwest overheads but they state 24 x 16 x 10 is acceptable. Have not tried on another airline yet. Front zipper pocket is just a smidge too small for my 14.1" laptop.

Overall: Based on my experience with this bag, I'd cheerfully take the 20" (small) Copilot instead and know it has plenty of room, as well as being more likely to fit in overhead bins. I don't fly as often as we drive, but it definitely stresses me out to know I may have to check this bag because it's an inch too big. Potential size issues aside, I absolutely love it!

Timbuk2 20-Inch Co Pilot Footlocker I bought this case so I didn't have to check my luggage in at the airport. I am irked by having to pay for checking in a bag and I'm mistrustful that it, and I, will arrive simultaneously at any given destination. That being said, I've used this bag twice and not carried it on either time.

I'm not worried about it working as a carry on. It's just that my last two trips have involved driving and then a boss who paid my check in costs. I took a chance on the arrival thing. The bag is perfect for carry-on. With handles on all four sides and its compact build, this suitcase will fit into the overhead bin better than I fit into the little tiny seats they give us now.

With regard to check in, it was the first time I've been able to find my luggage on the carousel without having to grab at and peer at every black bag of a certain size. The violet stripe and handle bar and tannish (potrero?) color makes it easy to spot. The bag rolls quietly and is very stable. I had a brief bag and c-pap machine loaded on it and it balanced nicely. The only thing that would make the wheels better is if they were spinners. Notwithstanding that, the bag is easy to maneuver and follows along like a well trained puppy.

Packing the Co-Pilot is also a treat. There are two compartments, the two halves of the suitcase, each covered with a mesh screen. When you close or open the case, everything stays where it should, something that has never happened for me with the ties that most cases use. I fit professional and casual clothes for 4 days, my shower bag, a pair of nice shoes and my Birkenstock clogs into this suit case and didn't have a problem closing it.

I am very happy with my new suitcase. I've used Timbuk2 briefcases and bags for some time and I'm quite pleased that I tried their carry-on suitcase. I highly recommend it.

This is big enough to fit about three changes of clothes, a pair of shoes, and a little plush pony for my 3T sized daughter. The workmanship on this little backpack is actually really nice, my child has been been carrying it around for almost 4 months and it is showing no signs of wear and tear. The zipper pull is metal, but the teeth are plastic. The image is very clear, and shimmery, not cheap looking at all. The back is lavender with light pink adjustable straps, and other than the rubbery plastic front image the whole thing is made of a tough canvas material. Definitely worth the money, and the kiddo loves it!

Sullen Travel Tattoo Backpack

Sullen Travel Tattoo BackpackNice pack. It looks great, and "stealthy" (it doesn't scream "Hey, I'm full of expensive tattoo equipment, take me!") Would be perfect for running from your room at conventions and/or guest spots. Holds all the essentials. Plenty of room for a modest portfolio and drawing supplies as well. The construction of the pack is solid too. Seems like it will hold up for a while. Pulls a bit on the top (shoulders) and sits heavy to the back at the bottom when fully loaded, but , hey, it's not really designed for a 10 mile ruck march. It does have a padded drag handle on the top. I give this item 4 stars rather then a 5 only because the "machine" compartments (there are 4 of 'em, nice!) could use a little more padding. "You're gonna have t' rap 'em. No riding commando." Overall, a really good product from Sullen.

My husband does a tattoo convention once a month and I've always tetris-ed his tattoo stuff into a regular suitcase. This bag is great because now he packs his own bag!! Knomo Kobe Messenger Bag

Knomo Brompton 54-105 Cross Body,Tabac,One SizeI recently purchased this bag and was very pleased with the quality, styling and price. I did a lot of online research to replace a TUMI bag I had used for years at work. After getting tired of finding the same bland and boring black nylon messenger bag, I stumbled across Knomo in a magazine article. The quality is very good with detailed/contrasting stitching, fine leather exterior, padded orange interior with multiple size compartments for just about everything. The nickel ends to the shoulder straps are nicely finished and look very modern and durable. I am certain this bag will last me for years to come! The Amazon price is also a lot less than other sites I searched. If you are looking for a simple, modern and elegant bag I would definitely recommend the Kobe Messenger Bag by Knomo!

I purchased a very similar bag from Knomo and really liked it when I got it, BUT when the seam which holds the shoulder strap on one side split wide open, and I called and sent pictures to Knomo, they were completely unapologetic and unhelpful.

If you can afford to buy a new $300+ bag every 2 years, then this is the bag for you. Other interior pocket seams have also came apart, so this was not just a single bad stitch.

If you expect such a bag to last you for years of good use, you will be sorely disappointed.

Buy Knomo Kobe Messenger Bag Now

I thought the bag was great when I got it a few weeks ago. I used it lightly everyday however a few days ago one of the so-called metal ends just broke in half. I am not joking.

I am very familar with metal and it will stretch or deform however this when looked at closer looks like some type of other material. I don't think plastic.

If it is metal then the end pieces supporting the shoulder strap are extremely brittle showing pour quality and cheaper manufacturing which should not be in a bag that costs anywhere near this amount.

I am writing this because when I was doing research for a messenger bag, I couldn't find a lot much feedback from owners of Knomo bags. I encourage more people to write, I think they are make quality products.

I've been using the Kobe Messenger bag for the last couple of months and so far it's everything I was looking for.

It's the perfect size and made with amazing quality and detail. The leather is very soft and the cushiony interior holds my T400 laptop securely. Unlike the previous reviewer my interior is green and not orange.

I used to carry around a backpack and can carry almost everything that I used to. I am looking for a water bottle that will fit in this bag and it would complete everything I need when I go out.

Pros:

Light

Roomy

Strong

Cons:

Wish it was all leather exterior

I hope this review helps and if anyone has questions please feel free to ask.

I just received my bag today. I am a 30 + yr old Business owner that just finished my BS in Business Management. The bag was a treat from my wife to replace my school bag with a professional bag. So far the appearance and build are great quality. The bag feels fantastic and is able to hold everything I need. Laptop, notepad, cell phone, calculators, newspaper, etc... I will check back in a few weeks as a follow up on build and quality and durability.

I love that you can register the product through Knomo London with a serial number in case it is lost traveling.

High Sierra Evolution 28-Inch Wheeled Upright Suitcase

High Sierra Evolution 28' Upright Lava/Charcoal/AshI bought the 28" and 22" High Sierra suitcases. After one trip, the stitching on the 28" suitcase started unraveling. The suitcase was not over-packed (30 lbs. total weight according to the airline scale), so there was no undue stress. The "cheap" suitcase that I also used did not show any signs of wear (26 lbs. total weight). Same trip, same handling. The inside clothing hold-down straps were difficult to adjust tight enough to prevent content shifting. The wheels do roll good and the corners seemed durable against abrasion, and it is lightweight. The warranty is somewhat useless--sending the product back for their determination of whether or not it was their fault in the product failure is laughable. I had it repaired at a shoe shop for less than the cost of shipping the suitcase.

This luggage is not good quality and looked like we had owned it for 10 years after one trip. The only positive is that it is bright in color and easily recognizable at the luggage claim.

Your first thought will be, these are so light, how will they ever hold up. These literally weigh less than half the weight of the bags they're replacing.

We actually purchased a couple of these bags. Mine is green and my wife's is red. We've used them for one cross country airplane trip and they did very well. The red seemed to soil a little more than the green but that could have just been something it came in contact with.

The only thing I don't like about the design is there's really no way to secure the zipper closures. At one location mine came off the belt with underwear hanging out. What I think happened was TSA didn't bother to fully close everything after inspection (yes, it was inspected). But it really wouldn't take much for the zipper to catch on something and end up partially open.

Other than that, the're great. Even if you don't take the bag all the way to maximum weight, why lug around extra weight that you don't need?

I liked the 22" so much I went and bought the 28". It's sturdy luggage and incredibly light weight. It's the lightest I have found which is great on well basically any flight outside the US. Plus I waited long enough to catch it at a great price on Amazon!

Nike BS0107 Air Backpack

Nike BS107 Air baseball Backpack - BlackThis backpack is great for a non catcher. I can easily fit two gloves, a pair of cleats, helmet and a lot of drinks in this bag. Very easy to carry around.

This bag is not big enough for all my equipment, especially when you put your cleats in the bottom. Seems cheaply made. Bats would collapse and hit each other when one on each side. Not very sturdy.

This bag was a Christmas gift for my husband who rides his motorcycle to his softball games and needed a back pack for the games. He absolutely loves it. Has two slots for bats; bottom compartment for cleats; small compartment for tape, black out, and small stuff; and large inside for gloves, sweatshirts, etc. He uses it every game and now I use it for my games too.

Great bag for the price!

I'm inlove! I love this bookbag. The material is very heavy duty, the second smallest zipper has a little organizer (for pencils and such) and not too big! At first it seemed small, but once you get stuff inside it's better. You have to realize it isn't the hugest backpack, but I'm a sophomore in high school so this is all I need :) I recommend this x1000!! It also came on Valentines Day!

Sturdy, made well. Would have been nice to have side pockets but other than that, the colors are beautiful and it is quality craftsmanship. It is lightweight for its size and has a padded area where it touches the person's back. Worth the price.

This was chosen by my granddaughter for one of her Christmas presents. She is 8 years old. She loved it.

I think it is pretty, but feel the quality for price was lacking. Not sure how well it will hold up. I paid $50 plus shipping.

Too expensive.

Kelty Wind Jammer Backpack

Kelty Wind Jammer BackpackI've had a lot of computer bags over the years; timbuk2, swiss army, targus, you name it.

This is the first bag that I've used that has this much level of versatility and build quality. I see myself keeping it for a long long time :)

What do I mean by versatility? Let's start by the outside.

It has strategically placed metal loops and hooks to create many different configurations depending on what suites your mood that day (or how much stuff your hauling).

Straps on the back can make it a backpack (they can be hidden in a compartment when not in backpack mode).

Hooks and strap can create a vertical or horizontal messenger bag.

If you hide all the straps you can use it as a vertical or horizontal briefcase.

Another thing is that it has quite a bit of pockets.

The front has a vertical zipper which opens a map compartment. This makes it very easy to access and it's larger than it looks (fits a kindle AND an iPad mini perfectly). The front pocket itself opens wide to reveal several pouches and straps to put in your keys, documents, pens, chargers or whatever you might think of.

The main compartment has an adjustable laptop pouch with padded velcro sides, this way you can adjust it to the thickness of your laptop. So yeah, it will fit your super svelte 15in Macbook with Retina Display or your chunky Dell work laptop just fine ;)

The main compartment also has space for books, laptop chargers, tablets, headphones, whatever. I've stacked it with so much stuff, yet I haven't really been able to fill it all up completely!

If there's anything I can complain about is that the bag itself doesn't hold it's form well when empty. It's a minor con in a long long list of pros :)

Buy this bag, you won't regret it.

There was a 45% coupon for the kelty site where I got it. I am glad I didn't pay $125, even though the quality merits it. Very well made pack.

Osprey FlapJill LG Backpack

Osprey FlapJill LG Backpack, KhakiWhen I purchased this bag, I knew Osprey was a well renowned brand, but I had never personally owned one of their products before. After having it for several months, I don't think I'll every buy from another brand again.

The bag that I got was the Jet Black Version, and just an FYI to anyone interested, the actual color isn't as dark as it appears in the picture. To me it looks more like a very dark charcoal, not so much a jet black.

Pros:

The backpack, although smaller than other bags holds a surprising amount of stuff. I'm a college student and can easily fit an Alienware M14X (which is a pretty thick laptop), all of my textbooks and notebooks, and several folders in the main compartment and laptop sleeve. In addition to all of that, there is plenty of space in the front pockets for my keys, wallet, pens, pencils, a planner, a small umbrella, and a bunch of miscellaneous items.

The quality of the pack is also superb. It is made of a very heavy canvas type material that is very durable and fairly water resistant. I tend to pack it quite full and I haven't had any trouble with tearing where the straps meet the body as I have had in the past with other bags.

The way the bag distributes weight across your back is awesome. I typically carry quite a lot of heavy stuff in mine and when i put it on, I don't have any trouble with back strain or feeling like all the weight is focused on my shoulders. It seems to spread the weight over your entire back which makes it super comfortable to wear while walking across campus.

Osprey offers a lifetime warranty on all of their bags, so if it gets damaged, they with either fix it or replace it free of charge.

Cons:

I wish there were a few more pockets on the front and the sides or possibly several smaller compartments instead of the few larger ones that it has.

There is a small Velcro patch that closes one of the compartments on the outside of the bag. I've found that if I have any pens or pencils in one of the little slots that are intended for pens or pencils, it obstructs the Velcro and makes it difficult to seal.

This pack is a little on the pricy side.

Conclusion:

This bag is fantastic and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Although there are a few minor cons, they pale in comparison to the massive number of pros. The higher price on this bag reflects its amazing quality. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality, stylish, and all around awesome backpack.

Great bag to carry my laptop and other essentials. Recently returned to school via online classes, and all textbooks are online as well. If you are a college student looking for a bag to lug around a laptop PLUS a bunch of giant books, this is not the bag for you. If you have a laptop and a notebook or binder or two, and a few other miscellaneous smaller supplies, this bag is perfect! Well made, definitely worth the price.

This is the best backpack I have ever owned in terms of weight distribution and how it fits on my back. The only little defect is that it is a little narrow. But that forces me to carry only the books I am really going to need for the day and not put in it an extra million things, and my back is thankful!

I did a lot of research before finally selecting this commuter pack....and I'm so glad I did. I use this backpack for commuting to work and since I work 12-shifts, I needed something that could handle the gear. I can fit work shoes, a soft-sided lunch bag, a book, change of scrubs, etc without problems. I was a little curious about the waterproof-ness of the backpack, but had that question answered this morning when I was caught in a downpour on the way home from work. I arrived home soaked, with black road grit splattered all up my backside and on the backpack. I held the pack over the sink and literally just rinsed the grit and stains off. Next time I looked at it, it was dry and perfect again. The inside of the pack stayed perfectly dry. I love the zippered pockets and little compartments to stash stuff. I use the laptop section for my scrubs instead of a computer, but it looks like it would work great for a laptop too. No complaints, you should buy this backpack. Just be careful in your selection...there is the "regular" version and the large version (which I have). I tried on the regular version at a local Recreational Equipment Incorporated store and it seemed kind of small for my needs.

Rothco Vintage Explorer Messenger Bag

Rothco Vintage Explorer Messenger BagI was in the market for a new, everyday messenger bag for my laptop and various things I carry with me throughout the day. I decided to go with this vintage canvas bag for its simplicity and clean appearance.

Pros:

1) Very nice looking. The bag is a nice clean color accented only by the leather straps and belts. It's simple, with no overly decorative garbage like many of the messenger bags I see today.

2) Zippers closed. I like the fact that the bag zippers on the inside. My last bag did not, and I didn't appreciate the value of the zipper until this bag. I feel much more secure on my bike knowing that my stuff isn't going to pop out at any second.

3) Plenty of compartments. At first, I thought that this bag didn't have that many compartments, but in truth it's got a perfect amount. Two small ones inside with no closure or flaps, one medium pocket inside that closes with a zipper, one medium pocket outside that closes with velcro, one large pocket outside that closes with zipper, and then the large main compartment inside. I can comfortably throw my stuff in all of these pockets and feel safe about all of them staying put as I zip around the city.

4) Really cool/useful leather attachment strap on the outside of the bag. This is tough to explain, since this is the first time I've had this feature on a bag, but this bag has a very simple leather belt attached to the side of the bag that you can secure things into. For example, I commonly use it to hold my coffee thermos, water bottle, or newspaper. It sort of cinches an item to the side of the bag, and then it just dangles off the bag, rather than take up space in a pocket or compartment.

Cons:

1) Leather straps aren't actually functional. The bag closes using a zipper, and then the flap attaches to the bag via velcro. My velcro is already beginning to wear out, and I'm considering sewing in some high-power magnets to compensate. Be aware that the leather straps on this bag are decorative only, and don't actually serve any purpose on the bag.

2) The external leather strap that is on the side of the bag does not feel very strong. The leather belt feels strong, like it will hold up over time. However the part of the bag that the leather belt connects to feels like a cheap leather patch that is ready to tear the first time I attach something heavy. For fear of this tearing, I never attach anything heavy. I only ever attach my empty coffee thermos, empty water bottle, or newspaper/rolled-up magazine.

3) On receiving the bag, before I ever used it, there were a couple (maybe 4 or 5) small nicks in the canvas material of the bag. Nothing that compromises the structure of the bag, just small little imperfections in the weaving of the canvas. No defects in the stitching or seams.

Overall, I feel like this is a great bag, and the canvas makes it pretty resilient to wear and tear. This makes a great every day bag that looks clean, functions very well, and still has that classic vintage feel to it. I highly recommend if you're in the market for a new shoulder/messenger bag.

*UPDATE (5/26/2013) after more than a year of daily use of this bag, it's recently (past three months) started to deteriorate. As I previously stated, the outside canvas is holding up like a CHAMP, however the inside cloth that lines the varying pockets/compartments has all but completely come apart at the seams, literally. Now, regardless of which compartment I open, there's just one big place to put all my things inside the bag, as a result of the loss of the fabric that once separated the pockets. To the bag's credit, the leather straps, zippers, velcro, and every other part have held up like brand new, however that inside cloth separation has fallen apart completely. Bag is still 100% functional, just not as organized.

Just took this bag on a 8-day tour of Peru, and it was great! Used it as a carry-on bag for flights and had enough room to hold the necessary items. The large, zippered outside compartment held paperwork and other thin items. I used the small, zippered inside pocket to hold little things like pen, keys, hand wipe packets, etc. Sturdy, rugged construction so I didn't worry about it falling apart on the trip.

Like others who reviewed this bag, I thought the two buckled straps on the outside were only decorative. But one day on the trip it became too warm to wear my fleece jacket. I took off the jacket but did not want another item to carry around. I didn't have enough room inside the bag to stow it. It then occurred to me to roll up my jacket and use the straps to fasten my jacket to the bag. It worked perfectly! The adjustable straps tightened enough so my jacket was secure. Since this is vintage style bag, my boyfriend suggested that the straps were used in the old days to carry a bedroll. Whatever the reason, the straps on this bag have a practical purpose just need a little imagination to figure out how to use them!

The item itself is nice. I like the design , the size is a little smaller then i expected it to be defiantly not for carrying allot of things. I could fit about 2 notebook and a binder with some room to spare. I wouldn't recommend this for any student I wouldn't try to put any books (textbooks) in there.

As for the service, i love amazon and all that it is. But i got this bag without a strap, i don't know how could someone get sent a bag without a strap especially since it's not removable... now i have find time to visit the post office, while having to pay for the shipping back.

I was looking for a medium sized messenger bag with a retro look and this bag fits the bill. It is rugged and roomy, exactly what I needed, and it matches my luggage set to boot. I think anyone who buys this will be quite satisfied. It's even large enough to hold my 17" laptop.

Want Rothco Vintage Explorer Messenger Bag Discount?

While I definitely like the simple, clean look of this bag, I really wish that the main internal compartment was a bit bigger. Once you get a laptop with sleeve in there (I have a 13" Macbook), there really isn't a whole lot more space. It could also benefit from two external pockets rather than just the one in order to help with organization of small items.
