Did a lot of research and bought quite a few backpacks in order to find the perfect one I purchased : Dakine factor, Element, Network, Campus, Duel and last but not least 101. Out of all of the ones I ended up keeping the factor and 101 (one bigger backpack (for school), one smaller (for recreational). The 101 is amazing, I had the older model but it was stolen along time ago, I loved that bagpack at the time but my only gripe was the side loading laptop sleeve, the bottom of the laptop would hit the bottom of the bag thus if you dropped your backpack on floor your laptop would it the floor as well. It's good to see that Dakine has fixed that issue with the 2012 model as well as made many improvements since the last time I've had it. It is by far my favorite backpack ever for the following reasons..
Useful Features:
Top and Side loading laptop sleeve, the zipper goes from the top to the left so it gives you a bigger space to access your laptop, the sleeve is also like a pouch so the laptop doesnt hit the bottom of the backpack.
Increased padding: There is also a lot of padding, the back has added padding for comfort and protection.
Storage compartments: 4 large storage compartments, 1 for laptop (I'm assuming 15.6 in to 17 in, 2nd main compartment for folders, books etc. A another smaller compartment which has a tablet sleeve and one more small one for pens and other things.
Size: I think by far this was the main reason I love the backpack so much I had the network and thought it was a great pack but it was huge (I knew this prior to purchasing it but it ended up being too big for my taste). I would say the 101 has the same features of the network in a smaller package, where I felt the network was a tad too big the 101 is perfect.
Cons:
I really cant think of any, maybe price if I had to nitpick no such thing as something being too cheap!
Overall its my favorite pack, I purchased it last since I already had owned it before but I'm glad I gave it another shot.Good quality, my son really likes the Dakine packs. This was a little on the small side, so 4 stars rather than 5.I bought this backpack for my boyfriend. He absolutely loves it. He stuffs everything he can in there. He uses it for everything, from school, to weekend trips, etc. It's a pretty big backpack, but he's 6'4 so it looks normal size on him.I use and abuse this backpack every day. It has all of the correct sizes of pockets and after months of using this it has taken no visible wear at all. I do not believe I have ever been so pleased with the construction of bag.I bought this backpack in order to replace another bag I use for my weekend trips. It fits everything I need in it for my 2-3 day stay away. It is bigger than I thought.... which I was happy about.
