Osprey Stratos 24 Backpack

This nice-sized daypack is solidly constructed, with much attention to detail, multiple small pockets, and an excellent ventilated panel that keeps your back from getting sweat-soaked. But, it can be a pain to get things out of the main compartment. I carried it for at least half-a-day, four days in a row.

All the attention to detail tells me this product was designed/tested by people who actually use daypacks. Things like the mini-pocket on the shoulder strap being at the exact right place where I could open it without contorting. The sturdy zippers that all have large pulls. The cinch straps that can be used for attaching lightweight items. The removable rain cover. Openings for the tube of a hydration pack.

And here's a big feature: the pack sits the same way on my back when full and loaded heavily, as when empty. I've never encountered such a balanced design on a small pack before.

More than once I found myself surprised that things worked the way I'd have designed them. "I don't want to carry this rain cover to the desert, I wish I could take it out-oh wait, it detaches!".

But on the negative side: I wish the waist belt would detach too (I usually don't use it, why can't I leave it behind?).

The pack's shape is balanced on my back, but not when it's on the ground -it doesn't stand upright when set down, either empty or full. So unless you carefully balance it (the curved shape puts the weight in a weird off-center spot), the pack may end up falling over into the water, or mud, or whatever else. I expect to take my daypack off regularly, so that's a hassle.

And the big negative: it should be easier to get things out of the main compartment of the pack. Even with the cinch straps loosened all the way, getting items out of the bottom of the pack is tedious-they hang up on the material and on each other, because of the curved inside. Contents as commonplace as small SLR camera, a paperback book, and a bottle of water (with stuff loaded in the outside pockets, bottles in the drink holsters) are enough to make it a brief struggle each time I want to extract one of those items.

So, I dock one star for having to struggle with getting things in/out of the primary compartment, and the pack not standing upright on its own. A daypack implies to me usage during an activity (not through-hiking or backpacking), when you'll be stopping and accessing the pack regularly. Making this process cumbersome seems out of place on an otherwise stellar design.

I am a huge Osprey fan; I bought the Osprey Focus about 4 years ago, and when it finally wore out (after I dragged that thing everywhere), Osprey replaced it with an equally awesome bag, the Quantum. Therefore, when I needed to buy my husband a daypack for our hiking trip, I was sold on getting him an Osprey. The Stratos was a great choice. The contoured, breathable back helped wick sweat off his back and was very comfortable. It holds more than it looks like it holds; we kept it stuffed throughout the trip and it held up well. It has sturdy hip pads, and a smaller pocket that was good for holding wallets, compasses, keys, etc. The side mesh pockets are great, too. They are very deep, so you can toss water bottles in there and they won't fall out, even over rock scrambles and falling in a river. I love my Quantum and it has held up well on day hikes, biking, and everyday use, but after this trip, I'm definitely tempted to get myself a Stratos, too. One thing to note: The Stratos, like most Ospreys and good daypacks, build up, rather than out. For people used to bookbags, this can be surprising and make it seem like the bag doesn't hold as much. It does. It also means that you have to be a bit strategic about how you pack, but the benefit is a much more comfortable hike with less stress on your lower back and better balance. Definitely worth it. It is also worth keeping in mind that the Stratos is really intended to be a hiker's bag. If you are looking for an all-round bag that you can take hiking but will mostly use on a daily basis (groceries, biking, walking, school, work, whatever), then think about the Quantum and other bags in that series--it is a better allround bag. But for a dedicated dayhike bag, the Stratos is great.

I highly recommend the Osprey brand. The bags are quality and the customer service is outstanding--seriously one of the best companies I've ever dealt with.

I am quite impressed with the fit and finish of this pack. It has one of those "trampoline" air flow systems (a taut mesh suspension that keeps the pack hovering off of your back) which is unbeatable in hot weather. Sure, it pushes the load out a bit, but the comfort advantage is well worth it. I have had problems in the past with packs not being long enough for my spine, but the Large size version of the Stratos 24 feels like it was tailored to my body. I'm using the pack for bike commutes and day hikes.

Baggallini Luggage Enchant Satin Quilted Backpack

I purchased the brown bag with pink lining. The bag is very well made. The stitching is solid and I think it will last a long time. It has plenty of room for all my devices. The tablet pocket has more than enough space for my Samsung Note 10.1 tablet. If anything, I think the tablet pocket has too much space. The length and depth were perfect fits, but the pocket is also about an 1 2 inches wide. I would prefer if it were like a sleeve with a more snug fit. That would also create a little more room in the main compartment, something that I think would benefit the design.

There are three zippered pockets; two exterior and one interior. On the exterior, there is a small zippered pocket on the front and a larger one on the back. The small one is good for things like cash and anything you need to access quickly; it is even accessible when the flap is closed. The inside zippered pocket is pretty large, it's almost big enough for a tablet itself. I keep my Kindle Paperwhite in there with its cover on and there is still room for more stuff, if I wanted.

In the main compartment, there are also two open pockets and two pen pockets. I have a huge phone (a Samsung Note II) and there is plenty of room in the open pockets for it and it's case.

The bag can be worn as a small backpack, but I am only interested in using it as a cross-body bag. It works perfectly for this.

I took off one star for style. The thing I don't like about the bag is that it is very boxy. It is also much taller than it really needs to be, which adds to the boxiness. The other issue I have with it is an oddly placed strap. When you open the flap, there is a nylon strap over the main zipper. I can't figure out what its intended purpose is. It doesn't seem to do anything but get in the way. If you tuck the flap under it, I suppose you could use it as a carrying strap, but I don't know why you would want to?

Overall, I am happy with this product. I wanted something that could easily fit my tablet, phone and Kindle, without looking masculine, and this serves that purpose.

This is a very attractive bag with loads of compartments and zippered pockets. Comfortable as an over the shoulder or across the body bag, not comfortable at all as a back pack which is how I wanted to use it. Can't give it a better rating because of the uncomfortable back pack option.

I got this to replace a large leather purse I have been carrying for a while. Back issues made it necessary to switch to something I didn't have to carry on one shoulder. I like the fabric, and the size, of the Baggallini Enchant Satin Backpack. It's not quite large enough for files and folders, but it is lightweight and can be used as a backpack or a cross-body bag. My first Healthy Back bag was leather and has lasted many years, but a little heavy. I really like the lighter weight of the poly-suede and the ease of cleaning. The x-small bag is more than enough space for me, even though my friends say I pack around more than anyone else. The olive color is growing on me. My favorite feature is the key fob right inside the big zipper. No more digging all the way through my bag for the keys! Of course, the main reason I buy this type of bag is for my bad back. I don't get a stiff neck even after a few hours of shopping.

Wow this bag is great!! I have the extra-small, and it is plenty big enough, it is about the size of a regular purse, but holds so much more. There are several inside pockets, all along the sides, and they are deep but narrow enough that you don't have all your things falling in one heap. One has a zipper on it. There is also the typical open area on the inside, and an easy-to-access ring with a clip for your keys. The shoulder strap has a non-slip piece sewn on the inside. I swear, when you put this bag on, you don't even know you're carrying it, the design is so smart. Also I wasn't sure what color to order, but wanted to stick with the poly-suede, because it is washable and a little more dressy to carry to work. The color turned out to be perfect....(I have the olive)...it isn't drab, or such that it makes you look like you're carrying a miniature army duffle bag! Sooo great, I can't say enough about it. I am definitely ordering more in exactly this size. If you like carrying larger totes, which my sister does, I would recommend the small size. I like carrying a regular purse, and this is perfect.

i have had leather , mico suede, the cloth one and now the poly suede.

I did not like microfiber.. it seems to show dirt/stains and does not clean well.

cloth i think is a good choice can be washed etc. The zipper stopped working on my cloth one so i am now trying the poly suede one I am very happy with this one

The quality of the bag is great. It feels solid and I have no doubt it can withstand the daily abuse bags usually take. I am on a plane traveling weekly and I'm not worried about this bag being able to handle this easily. The bag is bigger than I expected, thus being a little roomier than I expected. The strap is comfortable and solid. Additionally, the front of the bag has a small compartment that easily fits several charging cords and earbud style headphones.

The bag itself will easily hold a "smaller" laptop up to 14 inches + an iPad/tablet and other small electronics and a few books.

My only complaint is that inside of the two main compartments there is only a singular zippered "pouch" in each. While both are very large, it doesn't really facilitate organization on a day to day basis. I will look for a smaller portable pouch to store in one to facilitate better organization. The front most main compartment does have three "small" pockets that really won't hold much (think business card sized). The strap has a small pouch, but it seems to small to hold much (glasses included).

Overall the bag itself is definitely a buy. While it's not perfect, it's definitely a great bag (especially since it can be held like a messenger bag or a sling pack/backpack.)

Bought this for my son and the MacBook Air I recently bought him, quality is superb. Like many people, I have a heck of a lot of bags, there is no perfect bag, thus I have one for different events & requirements. This one is pretty darn neat though. First, the strap is very thick, very strong, and has an aluminum buckle, not a plastic thing that would easily break.

Second, it's "bike" friendly, my son takes a bike to college most days, and this works awesome, it's also more "visible" during the winter months in California when the sun sets early. The branding is a high-reflective material.

If anything, it would be nice if it was a few inches longer, not for space-needs, it is quite spacious for the laptop, his DSLR camera, and other things he hauls around, but it would look a little nicer on the back I think, as it's not really something you would buy for a small child (or you might). Nonetheless, best quality bag I've bought in a while.

Have now had my pack for a few months and I have to say it's been a great one for my use. I've used it with both my Macbook Air and my X1 Thinkpad. The pack is large enough to where I can have both computers in it and still have space for a few books/papers. After heavy use for the past few months I have not had any fraying of threads or problems with the zippers. I had a targus pack which started fraying within a month or so of getting it so that was a big concern of mine. The one strap design has also been a godsend on my back. I bought this for my new laptop and I just couldn't be happier with it. The skin went on supper fast. I do wish it would have been easier to trim. It has stayed on very well though! Love it!

The decal sticker portion of the package is very high quality; I would have payed the above amount for the sticker alone. The sticker material is nice and thick (about the thickness of duct tape) and the colors are beautiful and vivid. Personally, I was worried about residue being left on the laptop after I wanted to get take it off but the sticker leaves no residue and peels off clean. (Yes, I tested it.) Overall, the sticker portion of the package is 5 stars!

The downgrading is for the bag. The neoprene-like material is nice and sturdy, however the ascetic wasn't as nice as the sticker. The colors are no where near as vividit looks more like the printer ran out of blue ink before it printed on the bag. Perhaps it was done that way to prevent the colors from being too matchy, but regardless the design in such that it looks neat even without the bright colors. On a structural note, the handles are on the inside of the bag, preventing the zipper from closing all the way when the handles are in use. I am sure that is for structural security, but odd none the less. I take a little oddity over the lack of structural security any day. The bag will do just fine for its indeed purpose and although the bag portion on the review is gearing towards the negative side I am still quite pleased with it. :)

I purchased the laptop sleeve with handles set with the matching laptop skin. It is really quite nice. The skin is heavy and seems like it is going to wear very well. Also, I was able to install it easily without any air bubbles behind the skin. I have a large 17.3" acer laptop and the fit in the sleeve is a little tight, but the fabric has some give/stretch so it fits quite well. Baggallini Luggage Roundtrip Bag

I love the Baggallini Roundtrip cross-body bag. I wanted something that would hold just a few items -wallet, coin purse, keys, cell phone, lip balm, comb, business cards, and possibly a pen and some paper. This is the perfect bag for these things. It could probably hold a few more things, such as sunscreen or gloves, hand wipes, and a Kindle. I love the wide straps, since narrow straps cut into my shoulders. The nylon fabric resists lint and pet hair, so it looks tidy even though my house isn't. It's much wider than my old purse, but it's very flat so I can't stuff it full of too many things. Which is great for me, but if you're looking at the height and width and expecting to be able to put a lot of things in it, you'll be disappointed. I've only had it a week, so I can't comment about durability, but it seems well-made. There are several compartments. In the picture, you can see a large and a small zip compartment. What you can't see is that the smaller zip compartment lifts up to reveal another zip compartment of equal size underneath it, just big enough to hold a wallet or keys. And there is a large pocket-style compartment in the back, held closed with one snap. Inside the main zip compartment, there is a small zip compartment and organizer pockets for holding several credit/ID/business cards, two pens, and a smartphone or PDA. The main compartment also holds a small cosmetics purse, which is clipped to a strap that attaches to the inside lining.

I like this bag it is sleek and compact. A couple of things to be aware of: there is not room for extra stuff (like sunglasses), and it is a bit dark/difficult to see all your cards in the 10-card built-in organizer.

Burton Treble Yell (Camo)

I bought this for my 5 year old son for camp and school. It is a good size to keep everything he needs. When it's full, he has a hard time carrying it. It is also great for a parent day trip. The only complaint is that in the picture, it looks like gray camo with gray straps in the front. When the bag arrived today, it is actually the typical green camo and the front straps are black. Although I prefer the gray, my son is thrilled with the green! If you don't mind the green, it's great. If it were for me, I would have sent it back because of the color difference.

DURAGADGET Stylish Black Neoprene Laptop Case And Sleeve For HP Envy 4 Ultrabook / HP Pavillion G6

The good: dual zippers, so the sleeve can be opened length-wise or width-wise, which is handy if you are using this in a top-loading backpack; there are liners on the inside of the zippers, so that they do not touch the laptop itself (no scratches, thank you); fits a Vostro 3500 perfectly.

The bad: no padding whatsoever. Sure it might be waterproof (haven't tested this fact), but it certainly isn't going to provide any kind of additional protection for your laptop.

Overall, I like the sleeve and would recommend it. I was previously using a Belkin sleeve with another laptop, and that had almost all the same features, plus it was much better padded. But it also cost twice as much.

besides the fact that i got this sleeve more than a month after i purchased it, there is no ULTRA PROTECTION, it turned out NOT to be that thick of a sleeve. the picture made think it might be too thick to even fit in my bag. it turned out to be just ok and it was pretty thin padding. its good if u need a waterproof sleeve. so i will say just stick with buying the costco sleeve its way thicker and only 10 bucks for 2 sleeves

Roxy Kids Girls 7-16 Excursion Backpack

Over all this is a nice bag, we got this for our daughter as a back back but when we received we noticed it was way to small for that. No fault of the product just not big enough for a school bag. A bit pricey for size, thats the only reason i did not give 5 stars.

This backpack is very small. It barely fits a regular-sized lunchbox (with no room to spare) and cannot accommodate a folder for a second grader. Otherwise, it is well made and attractive.

It's a decent backpack / laptop bag. It'll more than get the job done. The material is of decent quality but doesn't feel as solid as most brand name backpacks. However, it doesn't feel like it will break unless abused. The bag has a main compartment which should fit three medium-sized books, and also has a sleeve-like compartment that fits a 15-inch laptop. There's a smaller secondary compartment for your pens, notepads and small gadgets. There are also small side pockets all around the bag but really wouldn't fit anything much biggee than a cell phone. Definitely a good buy for $20.

The two big pockets are so close together that you can only put stuff in one at a time. Plus if I put my laptop and a binder in it, there is not much space for anything else. And it started ripping after two months of use. Also, it feels so weak that I am scared to carry my laptop and a book in it so it doesn't fall apart and break my laptop. If you are a college student with books and a laptop to carry to class, I would not recommend this bag to you because the lack of space is annoying. I would not buy this bag again.

Seattle Sports Evolution Reign Backpack

I bike commute to work, so I needed a bag that was water resistant, could quickly swing over my shoulder, and that would fit in my bike pannier basket. Pannier bags are just too bulky and not versatile enough for me. The straps are easily adjustable for comfort and it sits well on my back. I even ran a mile with it with no issues. The pocket in front is adequate for quick access. Closing the backpack takes a few extra seconds to squeeze out the air to roll the top of the bag, but it will definitely keep the contents dry. I would have liked to have had side mesh pockets. I can also see myself hiking and kayaking with this. Also sold at REI. Overall, I'm pleased.

Licensed Rovio Angry Birds 16" Large School Backpack Black

We bought this backpack for my 7 year old son at the beginning of the schoolyear. It is now the end of March and I am doing some long over-due backpack shopping for him because this Angry Birds backpack is literally falling apart (and has been for the last few months). At first, the zipper to the front pocket broke, then one of the zippers on the main compartment broke, now there are see through spots wearing in the fabric and the straps are frayed.......keep in mind that my son is not overly hard on his backpacks. This backpack is pretty cheaply made (as are most character backpacks).

It's a cool looking backpack, but just don't expect it to hold up to daily use.

Backpack works the way it should. I like that it has a pocket in the front to send extra things. The pockets on the side are made out of netting and have already ripped so we can't use them because things fall through the holes. I would only buy this again if the pockets weren't mesh.

I'm not much of a Zumba fan, but I love this bag. It's great for beach trips, etc. The size is ideal.

This is a great knapsack for me to carry my Zumba sticks, water and anything else I need for my nights of Zumba dance and exercise. A lot of the gals liked this.

I'm a techy. Recently one of my biggest challenges has been to find a purse big enough to hold my Nook Color but small enough so that I don't look like I'm carrying a suitcase. This was the perfect solution. I originally bought one of these backpacks for my daughter for Christmas as she wanted one for a long time. As she carried it around conveniently on her back (while I was uncomfortably hoisting my purse over my shoulder), I decided that I wanted one as well. I chose the Safari Sunset pattern (different than hers, of course) and I have been so happy with my choice. Not only does this hold all of my essentials, there is a separate pocket on back that is the perfect size for my Nook. In total, there are two pockets on the inside and four pockets on the outside. And, occasionally, people stop me and tell me they love my bag; that's a nice little perk. I also bought the matching wallet. This was a great find to suit my needs!

Lego Star Wars 16 Inch Galaxy Battle Backpack - Black, Blue and Red

My son loves this backpack. It is so adorable and sturdy. The front of it has bright colors and and the characters are just adorable. It is a cool lenticular scratch surface. It's sturdy enough to handle the load of a kindergarten load to 2nd grade. Very hard to find in stores.

The picture and colors are great. What little Star Wars fan wouldn't love it? After less than 1 month of school, I had to sew up 4 places where it was ripping out. Now another month into school, both of the zippers are messed up.

My son is in kindergarten, so he's not carrying heavy loads back and forth to school. I only spent $15, but it wasn't worth it.

Don't pay $40 for this! I got it at Target for about $16 and still paid too much hole ripped in top seam first week of school, ziper is flimsy, will likely totally fall apart soon. My son will be devisated, but I'll have to insist it be replaced with something of better quality.

My son was so excited to get his new backpack he is a huge Star Wars fan! He loves the backpack and has had it one week, taking it everywhere he goes. I read the reviews and was a little concerned about the quality. Today my son decided to bring home his chocolate milk to share it with his sister, which of course spilled all inside the lunchbox and backpack, making everything a big sticky mess! I have always washed lunchboxes and backpacks on gentle cycle in the washing machine, and thought that was probably the only way to get the milk out entirely. Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the washing machine and found hundreds of little pieces of material all over the machine. The picture peeled off almost completely! There is hardly any picture left. He is going to be so devastated to see what happened in the morning, tears will definitely be flowing. What a cheap piece of junk! Might not be as much fun, but we are definitely going back to Lands End!! I cannot believe I just spent around $40 and he could only use it one week!! BOO!! Tell China to stop sending us crap!!

I went to toys r us and saw this back pack it is junk the material on the outside can be scratched easily with you fingernail. The Material separating the backpack is super thin and flimsy, most likely will rip. Don't wast your money. Also toysrus sells it for $14.99, which is way too much i wouldn't even spend $5.00 on it. Buyer Beware.

Picnic Plus Tandoor

We ordered this picnic pack after giving our daughter a two-person one as a wedding gift. The main section is ROOMY and big enough for a large picnic. The sleeves hold two 16-oz water bottles each, or a larger bottle, and are detachable if you don't want to carry the weight. The table service is nice quality, and not listed but also included are a good qualty salt and pepper set (stainless steel) a nice corkscrew/knife combo, along with a wine cork, napkins, plates, small table cloth and cutting board. The description does not do this justice, and I am preparing to order another for a wedding gift.

Nice plastic liner in the food compartment that removes to clean, and a zipped compartment in the top of the compartment cover holds a dirty dish bag of nylon that is washable (also provided) and I also put in a couple of baggies for trash there. The plate compartment is big enough to put in extra paper plates and napkins. Don't expect the plastic cups to last that is the only down side they are fragile and we cracked one the first trip out when we crunched the pack between a couple of other things and loaded it heavily. Otherwise well made and great just plan on replacing the plastic stems, as they are going to crunch no reflection on the otherwise excellent quality pack. When loaded it can be HEAVY so plan on detaching the wine sleeves and carrying separately if you have to tote it a way. Very pleased with this product and highly recommend it we looked at tons of these before buying glad we chose this, and even if you are just buying fot two, get the four person one, as there will be something you need an extra plate for, and the extra large compartment gives a lot of flexitility to what you can pack.

I was very happy with the quality of this backpack. It is large enough to pack for more than four people, the quality is superior and I like the fact that it has two bottle holders with a zipped top, so the bottles can't fall out. this item is so versatile that I'm ording more and giving them as gifts. I would highly recomend it. And as a bonus, the company called me direct just to inform me when they were shipping it. Great service. Thanks amazon for carrying this product

A really nice quality product, purchased as a Christmas gift. We bought a two-person set from Bed, Bath & Beyond and this Tandoor product was much nicer. Granted the Tandoor cost $73 vs the BBB's $42, but the Tandoor was a four-person set and was much better quality materials the case was a heavier canvass, the plates were not so flimsy, the silverware was more solid, and the cloth napkins were better. Tandoor's features and design were better too, with the insulated storage section with removable liner (for cleaning), the removable bottle holders and the heavy duty backpack straps. Worth the price!

I love this thing. The interior is great. Has a removable lining. All of the supplies needed for a picnic (except the food). Forks, knives, cutting board,plates, cups, salt and pepper shaker, bottle opener, napkins and table cloth. Great, great, great. Would definately reccomend especially is you get a good price. I put it in my basket when it was 49.99 but hesitated so I ended up paying 59.99. Still worth every penny.
