Revo Spin II 29" Exp. Twister Upright

Revo Spin II 29' Exp. Twister UprightI bought a 29" Revo Spin 2 from a discount luggage shop in Los Angeles in late July of 2012, to live out of on my current US tour (I travel the world for a living, working on the crew of touring Broadway shows and concert tours). Today (May 30, '13) I replaced it with a different spinner from another maker.

The Revo case held up fairly well to the rigors of the North American air-travel industry (and the shaved apes who try as hard as they can to break your luggage into smithereens) for the most part, but the trim and handles took a real beating I never thought of a grip handle as a consumable wear point before. On the bag's second air trip, flying from SFO to DFW on AA, the pull-up handle somehow got mooshed a touch; barely enough to see but enough to prevent it's smooth deployment or stowage Since last August, I've had to really whomp on the handle to get it to slip back into the bag. On the bag's fifth foray into the airline world, the external ID tag cse was ripped off. The following trip one of the four caster corners was shattered, and it took a few days to find a repair facility that could fix Revo bags, to replace the wheels. A few weeks ago, the riveted-on plastic REVO brand tag that appears on the top-front pocket cover departed this life... Ten months, and the bag is giving up.

Speaking of that pull-up handle, I'm really not a fan of the height that the handle's packing tubes intrude into the suitcase interior. You can't really pack anything flat against the case while it's lying on it's back. I know many cases do this, but I've seen enough suitcases (and today bought one) that have the sleeves outside the cases interior, with a true "flat-floor" packing scheme.

The Revo also weighs a lot. I mean, this sucker's *heavy*; almost fifteen pounds. It's a trade-off, of course; the heavier the exterior fabric, the more protection this sort of bag provides, however each pound of suitase equals a pound less of personal belongings you can pack before you hit the airlines' overweight-fee points. And I have run into more than one uncalibrated airport ticket counter scale that claimed my 49-lb. loaded Revo was over the magic 50-pound point ("that'll be another $100, please."). This bag is at least two pounds heavier than even the heaviest polycarbonate hardside I've investigated. If you travel more by rail/auto/ship/whatever than by air, and thus are not as affected by overweight fees as other travelers, this might not be any concern to you. But if, like me, you *are* on weight restrictions and flying every week, you'd do well to bear it in mind.

I will admit again that, for the most part, the touring industry hasn't been able to totally kill this bag. But enough stuff *has* happened to it that maybe shouldn't have, that I can't really give it a real five-star rating. It's just an OK bag. It does the job. I bought it on sale in L.A., and I can't say I didn't get my money's worth out of it. But then again, I didn't pay what Amazon is asking for a new Revo. If I did, I wouldn't be so sanguine about this bag as I am.

Dakine Girls Zuri Pack

Dakine Girls Zuri Pack, ObsidianI just recieved the backpack and the shipping was very fast. Lots of compartments to store many items, and it easily stores my 17in laptop in the back. Soft lining and seems quite durable, so far I am very very happy with my purchase.

I bought this backpack shortly after buying a new laptop because I didn't want to carry a separate case for my laptop. This one is perfect for me. There's plenty of pockets for all the little things I carried around in school (pens, notebooks, phone charger, iPod, etc.).

I love the simple black color with a few hints of color on the outside, and then the fun print on the inside. Great value on product. Very durable.

I do like Amazon, but if you're looking for a good deal in today's economy, do your due diligence for a best offer. I am not a student; might be returning to grad school in the future. However, I need it to commute to work and my weekend trips to NYC. Like the black, but also want to be different and subtle. This has very few neon yellow, but it adds distinction and the latest trend is that the 80's neons are back in style for now. I cannot wait to receive this and do an in-depth review. I have bought the cheapos in chain malls, but I hear and read that Dakine is the best for your money and back. I was torn btw the Frankie and Zuri, but also like the Jewel. The Jewel has great compartments for a key tag and insulation, and it was more North South and a Sturnum strap, but it looked like I was still on campus with the water bottle pockets. The Frankie, had the secure back pocket, but to rounded looking and didnt want to look like a turtle. So the Zuri was the one.

The Normandale book store in MN was charging about $56 with a ground shipping of $8.50. Others were insane like $75 for the bag with an additional $10 for ground. Duh no thanks!

Laurex Laptop Backpack fits up to 17" Laptop

Laurex Laptop Backpack fits up to 17' LaptopI have a huge laptop and this fits it perfectly. It is comfortable to carry and distributes the weight of the laptop and school books evenly. I can get 1-2 textbooks in here with a notebook, the power adapter and a wireless mouse plus all the items that normally are in my purse. Lastly the inside is a light colored fabric and this makes it easy to see inside the bag and all the way to the bottom.

Look like a pretty bag and I suppose the buckles are suppose to give it a nice clean look but they are difficult to press open. It looks big and fits my large laptop great but it is not a high capacity multifunctional bag. Looks nice but not very functional

I took my time and looked endlessly for a replacement backpack when my last one died. i wanted something that keeps up with me....i don't coddle anyone or anything and pack it like i am leaving the country (i.e., i take "everything but the kitchen sink" with me!!) but all the backpacks that looked like they could stand abuse weren't "girly" -i wanted something "cute". this backpack holds a ton of stuff including my laptop, ipad and keyboard, makeup, lotions, lunch, cellphone, books, binders, gloves, hat, scarf, sweater...it is durable, has been through wet weather (nothing got wet inside)..it is definitely feminine, it is distinctive -i get compliments from both men and women -and it looks EXACTLY like it did when i took it out of the box....i take a bus, a train and a bus to school --and back--and go grocery shopping every night after school. it keeps up with me and doesn't show any wear and tear over that fact. i know this backpack is going to last a very long time and would buy it again and again and again. thanks amazon!

AmeriBag I Love My Life Small Microfiber Healthy Back Bag Tote

AmeriBag I Love My Life Small Microfiber Healthy Back Bag Tote,Black, one sizeI purchased this bag for two reasons. One, I was tired of my purse slipping off my shoulder & two, I have back problems and needed to keep my body balanced. This bag is terrific. It fits easily under my arm and the rubber material attached to the underside of the top part of the strap really anchors it to my shoulder. Inside is extremely organized with places for everything and a silver lining that helps me to see the contents immediately. The microfiber is easy to wipe off which is great after throwing it down on the floor of the car. I only wish they made this is a tan color which would look great with anything.Zappos of course delivered it in one day. I don't shop anywhere else online.

The vendor, Best Services, substituted the plain Healthy Back Bag for the more expensive I Love My Life version with the embroidery shown in the ad. The previous reviewer said the same thing and I guess I fell for it as well. Again, they put a sticker for what I ordered on top of the correct sticker saying what it actually was. Amazon was very cooperative about the return and I trust the refund will be quick. But what a disappointment. Don't be fooled. Amazon should take down this ad.

I gave it one star, not for the quality of the bag which looks great. It will hold my iPad and everything else I want and is well made. The strap doesn't slip off my shoulder. But this bait and switch is not good.

Buy AmeriBag I Love My Life Small Microfiber Healthy Back Bag Tote Now

I can tell from the quality of the microfiber bag that was delivered that the "I Love My Life" bag might have been pretty good. However, that is not what Best Service Stores sent. Interesting to note that someone actually applied the "I Love My Life" SKU label ON TOP OF the correct label which stated that it was the "Classic" microfiber bag. So, refund and return it is. I have ordered another bag from another vendor as a result. Please note that I am giving this one star and that star belongs to Amazon because their customer service (Hi, Ankit!) was awesome. The vendor is not one I will frequent ever again because of the labeling. I believe they were trying to pass off a less expensive bag as the "I Love My Life" bag which was really goofy considering that there is supposed to be embroidery on both front and back of the bag that says (oddly enough) "I Love My Life." Bad vendor.

The product is the same as one I already own that I have used until it is starting to get holes in it. I order this one because I liked the embroidery on the side. However, the one I received has no embroidery at all. I think I remember reading that this was a possibility when ordering the product on one of the reviews.

So if you order this, just know you may not get the same product as the picture. The bag itself is the same just no added embroidery like the picture.

Overall, the purse is one of my favorites since I've had one like this for more than 10 years now. But disappointed in receiving the plain bag.

I noted that other people had the same problem and thought that this problem had been resolved. The wrong bag was sent and substituted with a plain bag instead of the Love My Life bag which I ordered.

Okiedog Freckles Backpack, Back To The Future

Okiedog Freckles Backpack, Back To The FutureI love the hands-free aspect of backpack and I am always searching for good backpack. This bag is make of durable yet light-weight material. A good size but not too large. Externally there is a zippered pocket at the top perfect for cell phone, keys, or small item. There are 2 plastic d-rings for hanging the bag on the stroller. There is also a large and deep pocket (right below the small zippered pocket)with hidden zipper. I love the double handles for grab and go. Internally, there are 4 slip pockets. Bound-down and grey lining is nice.

While this bag is made of light and durable, easy clean material, there is no padding what so ever, which some people may like because you can fold up the bag for storage. The shoulder straps are lightly padded. The bag doesn't have structured shape unless packed or stuffed. My biggest problem with this bag is that there is no good place to put a water bottle. The internal slip pockets are not all the way down to the bottom of the bag, so with the weight of a bottle, it drags the bag down.

The bag comes with a changing pad, which is stored in the middle of the main compartment and a insulated bottle holder. Personally I think the price tag of $74.99 is steep for this bag.

STM DP-2107 13 Inch MacBook Glove

STM DP-2107 13 Inch MacBook GloveI bought a new unibody MacBook Pro with 17" screen back in Sept 2009. At the same, I decided that my Victorinox leather briefcase wasn't the best way to cart around all the junk I carry with me. I decided to move to a backpack. Therein lay my problem which this STM sleeve solved. Some of the backpacks I looked at had a removable sleeve that allowed you to skip thru TSA checkpoints without totally exposing the MacBook to scratches. Then, there were otherwise attractive backpacks that were designed with a non-removable padded compartment. I didn't want to be restricted in my choice of backpacks so I decided to look for a sleeve that would work in any bag. Next problem.....if a sleeve was going to be used in a backpack, it had to be top loading. Almost all the sleeves out there have zippers running down the long side not the top loading shorter side. Arrrgh!

I looked at some other top loading sleeves but they all had some weird quirk like no zipper, just a pull over closure that looked to be almost unusable inside a backpack. Finally I stumbled on this STM bag. It received some great reviews on the web and Amazon stocked it. Great, I could have it before my first business trip with the new computer. I've had it for a couple of months now and I love it. It's a top loader so I can pull the computer out of the backpack without removing the sleeve. On the other hand, I can quickly pull the sleeve out with the MacBook inside to get through TSA checkpoints with the MacBook still protected. I've never been challenged at a checkpoint yet after about 6 flights with the STM sleeve. The sleeve is well built with a protective flap under the zipper so the zipper can't come in contact with the MacBook and scratch it. The sleeve is also fitted exactly to the Macbook Pro 17". It's a snug fit. Glove tight. You actually have to stretch the sleeve a bit to get it closed.

I ended up with the Swiss Gear pack sold thru the Apple store which already has its own fixed padded compartment specifically designed for the MacBook Pro 17. The STM sleeve fits inside the pack nice and snug while providing additional protection and the TSA compatibility I wanted. I'm happy with this product.

I bought my first STM sleeve in 2006. It was a dense neoprene, was fantastic protection. The next generation I bought in 2008 was thinner, not as dense, but for a neoprene sleeve still decent protection, though not as bullet-proof as the first.

This generation is thin and flimsy. Not a little thinner, a lot thinner. they changed how the pieces are sewn together, which I believe also affects how well it protects on the side. This version uses an additional piece of fabric that each side is connected to, the older ones were sewn directly, that joining of fabric provided a nice bumper that this one does not.

This generation has a fluffy interior fabric that is not mentioned in the listing. No reason for this, as it can collect dust or debris and likely to promote static, which the regular neoprene did not.

There's got to be a better option for the price point. STM no more for me.

First, let me say that I've owned the sleeve for the 15" Macbook Pro as well as an STM Backpack. All of these products are incredibly well thought out and constructed. In the time I've been using them, I've never had a zipper fail on me, or a rip occur. Certainly, this is not a case that will take a "licking and keep on ticking", but it is good to protect your notebook in a briefcase or backpack. It resists the occasional splash of coffee, and cleans up easily. The padding is adequate for the protection it affords, and the lip at the top inside, under the zipper, is a great improvement over other cases. It protects the ports on the side of the notebook. This is especially valuable with the new lightning bolt technology, as adding this isn't exactly cheap! Take it from me, this is the best thing from down under in a long time. You certainly will get your money's worth, and never be sorry!

Did a LOT of searching on Amazon for just the right case and I am very happy with the purchase. Fits my Macbook Retina like a glove, including the external mouse mini USB plug that I can just leave in my Mac. There is complete zipper protection on both sides of the inside of the case to prevent scratches and the inside lining is very soft. I needed this sleeve for transporting my Mac in my backpack, and for resting my Mac on something when typing on hard surfaces (desks/tables). Sleeve is slim, but cushioned and doesn't feel cheap. No additional pockets on the sleeve, but I wasn't looking for any. Highly recommended. Amazon and STM also got this to me in one business day. Kudos!

POTOMAC from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Double Gusset Rolling Case

POTOMAC from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Double Gusset Rolling CaseI saw the PATRIOT, POTOMAC's bigger version, at Staples the other day and fell in love with its sleek design and SwissGear standards. However, the Patriot is much too big for my purposes (laptop + paperwork transportion to/from office, business travels, etc)... so I tried to find another SwissGear bag of similar design and smaller proportions. I came upon Potomac on Amazon and wasn't too impressed with its design compared to Patriot. However, I read the reviews, took a chance, and ordered it.

It's fantastic! It looks better than it does in the photos. It's roomy (a tiny bit too big for me still but it's all good), sturdy, and handsome. I like to remove the laptop tote and use it for everyday purposes when I don't have to lug around paperwork from the office.

Very happy with the purchase.

This is a good looking, well made case. The price is great, $40 less than the same case at Staples. My two sons are so impressed they plan to buy the same case themselves.

Because I have a 15.6 widescreen ASUS laptop, I didn't think that I would be able to use the inner case like a sleeve because the right up said it was for a 15.2 or 15.4, but to my pleasant surprise, it just fits. This means it is possible to park the rolling case and carry the computer in the very attractive computer case to a meeting, etc. The case serves the purpose of a sleeve, but it looks like a pricey brief case. Also, if I should be on a regional flight that considers the case too large for their small overhead compartment, I will just remove the inner case and carry it on board and let them stow the case elsewhere.

Beach ships the case and I got it within a couple of days of when it was ordered. Very good shipping service, and shipping was free.

I highly recommend this case.

UPDATE: Carried this bag today on two of the regional planes used by United. Although I hadn't filled the bag to overflowing, I had no trouble getting it under the seat and into the overhead bin. Did find though that when putting it into the overhead bin I had to insert it with the top forward--not wheels first or sideways--because the bin sloped toward the back and wheels prevented it from sliding in all the way. But putting front in first, bag fit as the front of the bin has more space for the wheels. Under the seat, it didn't seem to make much difference. But if under the seat on these small planes, there isn't a lot of room for your feet.

Expect no difficulty whatsoever on the big jets.

Update 1 January 2012. I have made a number of flights on big jets and regional jets since writing the review and have never had a problem. I have also found that when checking bags to see which need to be put in the cargo compartment on a regional jet that they often say this case is ok to carry on-board. Regardless of the plane, however, it is necessary--as mentioned above-to put the part with the handle in first since the back interior of the overhead is smaller than the front so the wheels would prevent you from pushing it in far enough to permit the stewardess to close the cover of overhead compartment. Put the handle in first and there is no problem.

Buy POTOMAC from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Double Gusset Rolling Case Now

The reasons I picked this case:

I wanted to be able to carry my laptop and numerous accessories (including battery, mouse, power cord, ethernet cord, wireless remote presenter, etc.).

I wanted to save my back and shoulders... i.e. I needed a rolling case.

But I didn't want to be stuck with a rolling case at a conference, etc. when I am not the one presenting.

This case is great: it is sturdy, holds a lot of stuff and the smaller case inside is perfect because it holds those absolute necessities you always need while you can keep the bulkier items in the car or hotel room.

The case looks nice too and has been resistant to wear and tear.

This rolling case is very high quality. I used to buy a new rolling case every 3-6 months for $20-$40, because I tend to be pretty hard on them. As a graduate student, I use my bag daily for classes as well as taking it with me everywhere to study if I have a few free moments. I finally broke down and bought this one and I am so glad. It is large, has room for alot of books, etc. and it is now 3 months old and is still in perfect condition. I am sure that it will last me at least another year! Swiss army is the bomb!

I bought this because my brother wanted his Tumi back. He had the Tumi that looks similar to this one.

This one is better than his Tumi in several ways.

-1/4 the cost.

-Does not tip over ever. The Tumi would fall backwards (toward the handle) when I took out my laptop from the middle pocket.

-The pen holder is much more accessible. The Tumi wouldn't unzip far enough to get to everything.

-More pockets.

The bad:

There are 3 pockets that hold "pens." This is more than I need, so I tried keeping CDs and DVDs in them, but they are far too deep for anything that's not at least 8" long.

Neutral:

It is a little big for small planes, but I have been lucky enough to get it in every overhead bin I've tried so far. The smallest plane I have been on had 2 seats on each side of the aisle in coach.

I'd happily get the same bag again. I didn't want a Tumi because it screams, "hey everyone, I paid $400 for something you could get for $75."

Green Floral Garden Carrying Case Sleeve fit Apple MacBook 13" and 13 - 14 inch Notebook Laptop Com

When I received this, the zipper hook fell off instantly. It also got stuck before it fell off. It did, however, fit perfectly. It's very nice but not for me. It's also not neoprene. I returned it.

THis is a great fit for my 13 inch macbook. It would also fit a 15 inch one, as there is room, its not a snug fit, but I like it that way. I was worried that the decor was bumpy, but its flat. This stands out with everyone else's plain black ones. I can find it easily cuz of the color. Appealing, inexpensive, love it.

Lewis N. Clark Neck Stash

Lewis N. Clark Neck Stash, BeigeMy daughter and I each got got one of these for a two week educational tour of Italy and Greece. We were on the go daily from 7 am to 10 pm and this handy pouch was comfortable to wear and convenient to access when dining or shopping. The adjustable neck strap allowed each of us to hang the pouch where she was most comfortable. I kept mine under my shirt and long enough to tuck at my waistband at my side, while my daughter let hers hang loosely under her t-shirts. One night I even fell asleep with mine on and was not inconvenienced.

Several different pockets allowed me to keep my passport and 2 currencies separate. I was even able to carry a small nylon billfold for credit cards and receipts as well as a one page itinerary which I consulted pretty frequently.

The instructions say hand wash, but we tossed ours into the washer in a lingerie bag on the delicate cycle and they came out in great shape.

We heartily recommend this pouch !

I used the Lewis N. Clark Neck Stash on my recent trip to Italy and France and I felt secure in knowing that all of my valuables including passports, credit cards and cash were safe. I had read some security alerts of pick pockets at the tourist areas of the places I visited and with all of my valuables in my neck stash and nothing in my pockets I felt completely safe. I placed the neck stash over my shoulder and under my arm underneath my shirt and surprisingly the patented TravelDry fabric did not transmit any sweat to the stash. I highly recommend the Lewis N. Clark for all travelers.

Wonderful product! Just got back from a week in Italy and it came in handy. Each stash has 3 pockets I used the big one for my passport, the middle for credit cards and the small for some Euros. I kept it under my shirt and then tucked into the waistband of my pants so it was not detectable at all under my clothes and if I needed to get it out I could discretely pull out of my waistband but probably would be better to keep a few Euros in an outside pocket. I would like to add that my husband also had one but teased me that I was too paranoid and asked me if I was going to sleep with it. He did put his passport under his shirt in the stash however insisted on keeping his wallet in his front left pocket and got it picked on a crowded subway. He is such a nice guy he also had his pin number in with his debit card so the criminals were able to get money out of our checking acct quickly and easily. They went to 3 different ATM's within 7 minutes and withdrew the daily maximum. They also got his credit cards and driver license but because he did still have his passport we were able to get on the plane the h*ll out of Italy. I know this isn't the place to say it but please be careful over there. We were there the weekend of the pope's beatification and everything was jammed packed!! It is easy to say "be alert and aware of your surroundings" but it is so much better to have your valuables under your clothes.

Vera Bradley Backpack (English Meadow)

Vera Bradley BackpackVera Bradley has some very pretty patterns, this one is in bright pastel colors, especially fitting to wear in the spring or summer. Well constructed, with a zipper outer secure pocket to sit against back. Only negative is that it is over priced.

Osprey Talon 22-Litre Backpack

Osprey Talon 22-Litre BackpackI received this pack as a gift (from my Amazon wishlist). I own the Talon 44 and use it for overnight backpacking trips. I needed a smaller pack for my bike commute and day hikes. Osprey has a long reputation for making quality packs, and their unconditional lifetime warranty can't be beat.

On to the Talon 22: My first impression after opening the pack was that the build quality feels really solid. The material is lightweight, but has a nice amount of stretch which should prevent most snags. The main interior compartment is very roomy, and I like that the hydration pouch is separate. This will help keep stuff inside dry and free from condensation from your bladder. For commuting I am carrying a macbook air, a notebook, a folder, my lunch and sometimes a change of clothes. There is more than enough room for these items, plus a 2 liter bladder.

Pros:

Helmet holder (also works great for a nalgene bottle)

Nice material

High quality stitching

Lots of adjustment

Airscape back allows for great air flow

Top access zipper compartment for small loose items.

Cons:

A bit expensive for a day pack, but the lifetime warranty and quality make up for it

Would like one or two more small zippered pockets

Overall: I would highly recommend this pack for commuting or day hikes. Outstanding quality, comfortable fit (6'1", 210 lb)

By all rights this should be a five star review. This pack is really well-designed and looks beautiful. I just bought it a week ago so it's hard to say how it will wear but as far as I can tell I'm going to be really happy with it.

EXCEPT.... on the second day of use I pulled the Lidlock clip out a bit and the Lidlock cord just straight up fell out. It basically tore off and just pulled all the way out of the side that was attached to the backpack.

This really bummed me out. Not because I actually even needed the Lidlock (I was just looking at it). But if this cord tore out with a quick pull (and not a hard pull), what other aspects of this pack are defective?

I paid a lot of money for this pack with the expectation that it was high quality. Now I'm not so sure.

I know that the best of products will have a defect from time to time and I know I can get this repaired for free. But to have a defect right off the bat was just kind of a bummer.

I hope to have the opportunity to leave a five star review for an Osprey pack some day as, so far, this pack is otherwise really fantastic.

******* UPDATE (12/13/2011) Five months later and the pack has been put to a LOT of use and has been excellent! No other defects, very well-designed. I am changing from three stars to four stars.

Nice backpack overall, with a few awkward design points. It is highly adjustable and comfortable overall. I am 5'8" and the M/L is probably just a touch big; but I also tried on the Small, and it was just way too small. But a t my height, I have to really cinch down a lot of straps, so have straps flapping all over the place. Some of the straps loop about, so they end up becoming an irritation on my arm as I walk and hike. These looped straps need to be tucked somewhere, but they always end up popping back out. I have resorted to using chip clips to keep them down. The second issue is the bottom of the pack and the way it droops down if you put something like a book of Kindle in it. The bottom of the pack is loose fabric, so putting anything somewhat heavy at the bottom means that the bottom of the back then protrudes past the waist belt and ends up running on the small of your back below the pack's waist belt. I remedied this by putting soft stuff on the bottom, and things like a book on top of that. Thirdly, the pack has no rigidity at all, so it kind of bends and bows if you do not pack and cinch it right. This means it can bend away from your mid-back area, or it has also has a tendency for me to lean back and bow/fold in the middle, especially since I cannot put heavier items on the bottom per my previous comment. Fourth, it is very difficult to reach the water bottle pocket. I find that I have to remove the pack every time I want to access my water. Finally, the zippered waist pouches on the belt are located a little too far to the side. If you out a small camera or anything else with bulk in there, the pocket tends to rub up against your arms. Still, the pack is well-designed and streamlined overall. I like the features better than some others I looked at when making my decision on a day pack. It's a good choice overall. Zippers are solid; there is a handy mesh pouch at the top of in the main compartment; the top zippered compartment is spacious; and the pouches on the belt are nice but not placed very well. More challenging to cinch this pack down, but it is adequate. I like the bike helmet clasp; and it will hold your hiking pole. Still recommend despite some of the shortcomings.

I use this for sport climbing to carry my Petzl Elios helmet (using the LidLock), 12-14 quick draws in the top pocket, a 70m 9.4mm rope in the main compartment (with a first aid kit in the Velcro pouch), along with a 3L water reservoir. You can fold back the waist pockets to keep them out of the way and to store a few smaller items such as wallet and cellphone. I hook my shoes and harness along with chalk bag to the top loop. I carry my Kindle with guidebooks in the small pouch on the outside. I don't usually pack much food on my climbing trips, but you could squeeze in a few protein bars or trail mix. It is amazing a pack this small can fit so much. In total, this bag has been able to handle 20-30 lbs of gear comfortably, with a small load it can pack very small. I have an Osprey Atmos 65 for backpacking, and this bag is a perfect compliment to it for single day adventures.

I'm currently using this backpack as a student bike-commuter. I bike about 20 minutes to campus everyday, and I wanted something that wouldn't have my back drenched in sweat when I get to my destination. I really debated hard between this and other backpacks that claim this "back air space" for this purpose. I am very satisfied with this one! In addition, I think the style is great. I've gotten complements as well.

I would say the size is a bit awkward for a student backpack the volume is great, but its volume is vertical not horizontal, but it does fit my macbook laptop plus a couple books. I also use this bag to do my grocery (Trader Joe runs). I can fit a full basket into it (assuming the sizes are not too awkward). BUT even if all my grocery doesn't fit inside the backpack, it has a clip on the top where I clip my plastic bags I've done it more than 8 times and it hasn't failed yet! Thats where I put vegetables or fruit that didnt fit inside the bag. Keep in mind I just bike to and from the grocery store, so I can't really hold on to anything. So this says a lot about the backpack's capability.

I like the straps (waist and chest), but in the beginning it looked like they were a lot of straps. It takes a little bit of ingenuity to wrap them up and make them look tidy, so as not to look like there are 100 straps (so play around with when you first buy it, but some people actually like the "strappy" look). I like the waist pockets too! I put my wallet there, and its really reliable for quick access. I have not used the hydration packet, but maybe when I do more serious hikes.

So so far I've used this for a month now as a student backpack, and I highly recommend it!

One downside: so sure not everything in life is perfect. Its not as waterproof as I thought, but you can buy the watercover, which is separate. But it doesn't rain much in LA, so it hasn't been an issue for me. But when I go for hikes, perhaps it would be smart to get a water cover.

I am very impressed with Osprey!

Shoreline 12142 Large 15.4" Act2 GreenSmart Laptop Sleeve - Storm Blue

Shoreline 12142 Large 15.4' Act2 GreenSmart Laptop Sleeve - Storm BlueThis is the best laptop sleeve out in the market... I went for this because I hate the popular neoprene sleeves, which looks like kitchen rug after sometime. This one is perfect for 15 inch laptops. I use a 14 inch Lenovo T400 with extended battery. My laptop is not correct fit and moves inside the sleeve, which is not a great worry. This one is of excellent quality, far better than the neoprene ones. I have been using this for 16 months now. Looks new, even after heavy use, including 3 months in villages in Amazon forests. BUY IT !!

Baggallini Luggage Large Zip-Out Travel Bag

Baggallini Luggage Large Zip-Out Travel Bag, Orange, One SizeThe Bagallini folds up flat in it,s own caseand is easy to pack. The large size was a lot bigger than I expected but when traveling that can be a good thing. I liked the fact it had a zipper on top to secure stuff when bag is placed in the overhead compartment or under the seat. I will definitely be taking it with me on all my future trips.

I was replacing a much used Baggallini from 10 years ago. This one is flimsier. It's great as a "pack-away" extra bag but not sure it will hold up like my old one

My 1st Baggalini Zip-out is about 8-years old, and has held up under great casual-travel stress. I even for use it for heavy groceries. Very strong, and washable. The newer one is even better, more room and longer straps. Great addition. Definitely recommend.

This is a great bag. The construction is good and folds up into a size you can place in your luggage for an extra bag to bring home extras or use as an over-nighter. I loved it and comes in great colors.

Designer Sleeve 14" Laptop Case 60's Butterfly with FREE matching Laptop Skin

Designer Sleeve 14' Laptop Case 60's Butterfly with FREE matching Laptop SkinI purchased this product based on the design, but the quality is there. I have washed the designer sleeve twice and there has been no fading of colors and it still looks new! I'm very pleased...

Upon arrival I noticed how vivid the colors are. The neoprene is high quality which aids in shock absorption. I dropped my computer the other day on the hard concrete by the pool. (klutz) I was lucky that it was in the sleeve at the time! There was not any damage to the computer. This item beautiful well designed and practical! Great buy!

The nice thing about the Designer Sleeve is that I cant tell that it will last. The images on the sleeve are not silk screen like that NY brand, so the colors will stay more vibrant and vivid for years to come. I own two Designer Sleeves and I would reccomend them to anyone who is trying to protect their investment.

It was just too big for my 13" ultra book, and the cords that i put in the outside pocket felt too bulky within this bag. the picture quality however is really really good not disappointed with the quality of the item at all. I wound up ordering the executive version of this bag with same wave print and I am much much happier.

Gregory Savant 38 Backpack

Gregory Savant 38 Backpack, Thundercloud Black, SmallI am 5'4 female and small size fits me fairly well. I love pack design and color but one thing I want to have is a bottle holder on the side. But other than that, I am happy with price, design, size and color. I can pack rain gear, banner, tharmo mattress, sleeping back, sleeping back cover, changes, food, everything I need for 1 day or 2 days hike but tent. There is plenty of space to pack.

Pros:

Superbly Comfortable

So many different options in how to load it

Holds a lot of stuff for the size

Plenty of pockets like the two hip belt pockets, side stash on the right side (fits sunglasses in case + headlamp with a bit to spare)

Cons:

Heavy for a bag of it's size. It's just under 3 LBs on my scale. The osprey hornet 46L is about a pound and a half.

So many straps

Material seems to stain easily I got a few black markings on it from TSA security

The bottle holders don't really stretch so when fully loaded it seems tough to get anything in there but it still works somehow. I use vapur bottles, so they're flexibility might have something to do with it.

Other thoughts:

The backpack, as any other backpack, should be tried on before buying it. For me, the size medium fits perfectly. I've packed over 20 LBs in it and it still didn't get that heavy feel to it. I can easily pack food, pajamas, cooking gear, tent, sleeping bag, a couple of knives, knife sharpener, toiletries for before bed (contact solution, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc). The backpack really can cinch down to extremely small or expand to hold everything I would need for a 5 day hike. I use a short pad and put my feet on the pack when I sleep the rain cover's stash area makes it pretty comfy on that bit.

The good outweigh the bad. I would prefer to be comfortable than a bit lighter.

McKlein USA Hazel Crest Leather 15.4" Laptop Case

McKleinUSA HAZEL CREST 15604 Brown Leather Double Compartment Laptop CaseI needed a new lap top bag that looked professional, was durable and relatively affordable, and the McKlein Hazel Crest fit the bill. The bag is better looking in reality than on the site. I took a flyer on it, as it looks a little vinylish in the photos and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the leather actually is. It is a medium pebble grain that is reminiscent of a good quality bomber jacket. My weekday style tends toward corduroy and tweed and this bag fits in naturally with my general look. It is moderately spacious easily fitting my largish preaching bible (I am a pastor), my Greek new Testament, one or two other books, my prayer journal, a legal pad, glasses and sundry accoutrements as well as my lap top and power cord.

The bag seems durable thus far, and after a few uses broke in and became a little more flexible when cramming is necessary. A nice added bonus is that the bag sits solidly upright, whether full or empty. My only gripe is that the buckle straps are not adjustable, which would be nice for when extra stuffing is absolutely unavoidable. Overall it is a great bag for the money and every bit as nice as bags I looked at in stores costing $300+.

Sanrio Hello Kitty Plaid Pink Large Backpack Bag Tote

I love HK bags and was delighted to find this very unique design. However, after about 6 months of mon-fri use, the bag is not holding up as well as I had hoped. The side netting that holds water bottles has started tearing :( Some of the seams looks like it is going to tear and this is a 1st grader using it. So, Happy but not soooo happy...

My Kindergarten daughter loves her backpack and I am so glad that I got this cute Hello Kitty backpack. Its a good size for her shoulders and for what the teacher gives to her weekly.

As a mom, I like the plaids because it hides any potential dirt that my daughter might accumulate in the playground. Have had the backpack for about 3-4 months and it's still holding up great and my daugher feels like she's styling too. Happy mom and happy daughter with the purchase. P.S. My daughter had a HK jumpy and theme for her birthday, I wonder what gave her that idea?

ClaireChase Jumbo Laptop Bak-Pack

ClaireChase Jumbo Laptop Bak-PackReceived this fullleather back-pack. Beautiful full leather bag exceeded my expectations! The Cafe color is a very deep and beautiful color. There are plenty of interior pocket's, as well as one zippered compartment on the outside front flap. A full size lap-top computer can fit within the interior of the backpack. The interior is padded specifically for a full-size lap-top computer. I was looking for a full-leather replacement bag for over-night trips, as well as everyday use for shopping, and carrying full day trip items.

This full leather bag far exceeded my expectations!

Abosolutely a beautifully designed and functional leather back-pack.

This bag is the largest backpack I have come across, besides the David King & Co. Oversize Laptop Backpack, and I have looked at hundreds. This bag retails for about $600.00, so to get it for $200.00 is a steal. The leather is top quality and it looks great. Now, I can tell you this bag is slightly heavy at six pounds. I am 5'5" and 130 pounds, so what I did was buy some guitar cushion straps and I put them on the straps of the backpack, and I promise I don't feel a thing. I also had to make additional holes in the straps which was not complicated at all. It fits a 14" laptop perfectly within the space designed. A 17" fits as well, but the velcro strap will not go over the laptop unless you stretch it. With my laptop in the backpack, I was also able to fit a five pocket binder and three well sized textbooks. I would recommend to anyone looking to buy a great leather backpack and to anyone that wants to buy one backpack and never have to buy another one again.

Beautiful bag not capable of holding 17 inch laptop.

Looks fantastic and is everything I expected from the pictures I saw. It however falls extremely short on being able to hold a 17" laptop.

I sadly will have to test the return route.

This bag looks great and is very functional. I carry around a huge HP laptop for work as a product designer and an Ipad for personal use and it all fits very nicely. The only thing I don't like about it is the shoulder straps. I had to punch holes to adjust to my height otherwise it would be hanging around the back of my knees.
