I bought this bag for my 6 year old daughter and she loves it. It's just right for her books and folder.

Got this and another bag for my 4 year old who went bananas when she saw them absolutely loves them. It's not meant for heavy books though as the bottom is not heavy duty good enough for a pre-schooler though.

A. Saks EXPANDABLE Laptop Backpack

I just purchased this bag to supplement my eBags Weekender Convertible (which is a great bag that I use a lot, but it's just a little too big sometimes). This was one of the lightest bags I could find that is not a fold-into-itself super ultralight. Un-expanded, it's the about size of a regular day packs, and I can easily use it for that purpose. When it's expanded though, it's just large enough to use as my main bag if I'm travelling light.

Here's what I fit in the main compartment during my test pack: 1 pair of trousers, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pair of shorts, a skirt, a pair of leggings, 7 shirts, 1 sweater, 2 pairs of sandals, 4 pair of underwear, a bra, tights, and 2 swimsuits. Plus my makeup bag, medicine bag, toiletries bag, and 3-1-1 bag. I put my kindle, netbook, camera, phone, sunglasses case, and various chargers in the organizer compartment. My umbrella fit perfectly in one of the exterior water bottle pockets. All this and there was still a little room to spare for a light jacket.

Some Details:

There are three main compartments. Small exterior, middle organizer, and expandable main.

-The small exterior compartment just has a key lanyard. It's gusseted though and holds more than I expected.

-The organizer compartment sits in the middle. It has two rectangular fleece lined pockets on the side shared with the exterior compartment perfect for a camera and a phone. The side shared with the main compartment has an ID slot, 4 pen slots, a zippered mesh pocket about the size of a passport, a full-width zippered pocket above that (my kindle fit in here easily), and a padded slip pocket designed for a tablet above that (my netbook also fit here). Gusseted space in between.

-The main compartment has the expandable portion. There are two slip pockets on the side shared with the organizer pocket. The padded laptop pocket is against the back, and there is a velcro strap to keep it secured. I was able to fit my full size laptop here with room to spare.

On my scale, the bag weighs 34 ounces, just a hair over 2 lbs, which is about double the advertised weight. It's still half the weight of my Weekender Convertible though.

Upsides:

The zippers on the main compartment and the organizer compartment are lockable, a nice feature that a lot of backpacks this size do not have.

There is a hidden pocket for passports and valuables behind the lumbar pad. It's accessible from the exterior of the bag, which is convenient but still very secure when carrying the bag. The pocket rides directly against your back, so no hands are going to get in there without you noticing.

The straps are comfortable and the bag seems to handle a heavy load quite well. The lumbar pad is very cushy. I wouldn't mind carrying this around for a day.

I like how far down the zippers go on the sides. It lets the bag open up wide like a clam shell and makes it easier to find things.

It seems to be well made and is fully lined throughout, with strong stitching and just enough padding to hold its shape. The fabric feels similar in weight to an ordinary school bookbag, but it looks a little nicer. There are six little plastic feet on the bottom to help deflect wear and tear.

It comes with a cushy neoprene wrap for the carry handle and a couple of inexpensive "diary" style key locks for the zippers. I already have a much nicer cable lock that I use for zippers, but it was a thoughtful little extra regardless. Even a cheap lock is better than no lock at all.

It's not flashy or expensive-looking, which is perfect for me. I prefer a bag that doesn't attract too much attention.

Downsides:

The laptop pocket is not easy to access when the bag is packed to the gills. If I were using this as my primary luggage on a travel day, I wouldn't put anything here that I intended to use while en route.

The water bottle pockets look a little small. They'll hold a regular bottle of water or a slim umbrella, but I wouldn't expect to fit anything much larger.

No storm flaps on the zippers. I don't know yet how the bag will do in the rain.

Verdict:

I haven't used the bag on a trip yet, but I am looking forward to taking it out for a test drive. Based on initial impressions, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend the bag.

I love this bag for college and have had it for over a year. I still can't figure out what the little detachable clip is on the outside (attached to the yellow loop)so I just took it off. Other than that, if you need space for large books (I'm an English major and we have to cart around very heavy anthologies)or an extra sweatshirt for cold classrooms, it's the best. Love the fact that you can either roll or carry with straps. I didn't see many bags in my searches that had both. Lots of organization in the compartments and plenty of places to tuck things. I fit large bottles of water in the side water pockets they stretch enough. Well made and durable without being flashy or showy. Love it!

I have to have a see through bag for my job. This seems sturdy and strong. Holds my laptop, huge book, and a few notebooks. This works!

I bought this clear backpack solely to be used in Disney World. I figured that if security could see everything in my bag, going through the bag check would be faster and easier...Well, it was and it wasn't. Half the time they would skim over my bag without opening it and the other half they would still open it and go through it, even though the bag was clear, so it didn't save any time.

It rained a lot while we were there, and the thick plastic material helped the things inside from getting wet. It is not waterproof (although I don't think it claimes to be...) because water can get in through the zipper area, but on the whole, this backpack kept everything a lot dryer than if we had used a cloth one.

One more thing, it is a lot easier to find things in a clear backpack, so when you are packing a day's worth of park necessities (sunscreen, diapers, fans, snacks, etc), it is WAY easier to find them in this bag. That alone made this purchase worth while. I will definitely be saving this bag for all future theme park visits (even if I don't totally love the style of a clear backpack!!)

I found this bag very convenient and comfortable. It does not fit as much stuff as my backpack, but since I carried my luggage on-board, I put the extra items in the outside pouch of my carry-on suitcase. I first saw this bag on eBay, but I trust amazon more, so I searched and searched for this one and finally found it! Like the first commenter I was a little cautious buying this bag because there weren't any reviews, but when I found her's I knew I'd love it! I bought the beige bag, and it's BEAUTIFUL!!! It's a pretty good size, but make sure it's big enough for you because it's about a medium small (If that makes sense).It's mostly beige (DUH!) with a cocoa brown outline! ^-^ And the inside fabric is like a silky gold fabric (so cute) It has 3 front pockets, one back pocket(kinda weird but it's cool), and one inside pocket so a total of 5 pockets, the top flap and unbuckle but it's magnetic, and on the front pockets. It's sturdy and has leathery straps, and top handle. It does come with a cute pair of socks ( I won't say how they look because I want it to be a surprise, and I'm not quite sure if everyone gets the same kind) and it also came with this make-up bag/ pencil bag, which is pretty cute too. I really like this and I can tell it will last for a while! :D

Okay, haii! So...I've gotten a little into the school year, and my book bag has been broken-in enough to give an update on my previous review.

So.....I was in love with this book bag, I still really like it, but....the straps are some-what weak. All I keep in there are two binders (that aren't very stuffed) to folders (one that IS stuffed lol) a notebook, sketchpad, pencil and makeup-ish bag, and the occasional Spanish textbook. And one of the straps have snapped off at the top, at the bottom, and the handle at the top has snapped. I hand-sewed them back up which I wish I didn't have to do, because you'd expect a some-what quality book bag. I tried sewing the handle at the top, but that was a fail because it snapped off again, so I gave up on that for now (I'm considering taking it off altogether :P) My point is....This book bag is best for light weight occasions. If you need something small at school to carry a few folders or notebooks or binders by themselves, that's fine, but I wouldn't really recommend it for a full-duty school year, it saddens me, but I might have to get another one for next semester. I don't know, I guess we'll have to wait and see how the little trooper does. :P

this came in soo fast!! it came in before the estimated shipping time! when i opened the package i noticed someting inside that i didnt order but it said "gift" so i accepted it, haha. it was a really cute pair of socks. this bag overall is great! the material doesnt feel like its going to rip anytime soon, too. it has a decent amount of pockets and i can fit my books in there too without worrying about any rips. the inside of the bag is really nice and shiny. my only con is that it's a bit smaller than what it looks like on the picture, maybe because the used a petite girl, but you know what! the bag cant grow, so i might as well use this bag as encouragement to lose some weight to make it look better ony my body(yes, im over weight so dont think im skinny and making myself lose weight). if this bag gets ripped or too old i wouldnt mind ordering from this person again because the quality of the bag is really good. the bag looks exactly like it does on the model so it isnt misleading or anything. i was a bit hesitant on buying this at first since it didnt have any ratings or comments, but im glad i did because it is really cute. i would recommend this bag to everyone even if its a different color! haha

Okay, i LOVE this bag, i really do. but its just a little small. ): like another reviewer said 'make sure it's big enough for you' i didnt pay attention to the dimension size because i didnt know how to understand it so not too long ago i looked up my torso size so i could find a better fitting backpack. this backpack is about 15" long down the back, but because my torso is bigger than what the backpack size is, it's a bit uncomfortable. ): which sucks a lot because i really like this bag. so before you buy this bag you might want to go measure your torso, if you dont know how to do it then go to: it tells you how to measure your torso so you can find the perfect backpack.

this backpack might've been too small for me because i am 5'4"-5'5"(not sure) but i dont remember where i read this but i saw that this model was 5"3'(dont ask me where because i forgot). i didnt think it'll be that much of a difference since it was just an inch or two..but it does. so guys, i strongly do recommend this product for everyone!! but...its just a tad bit small which makes it uncomfortable. its not the backpacks fault! its just my height. lol. maybe these backpacks were made mainly for shorter asians? or other people in general..but im a pretty tall asian....so im off to look for a bigger backpack! still keeping this one though...maybe it'll be more comfortable later. who knows. haha

so if you are 5"3 this is JUST the right size...5"2? probably perfect, haha.my torso size is about..16 3/4" so i might buy a 17" long backpack for comfort. if you want to look at other backpacks like these you should try it's an asian website.but dont worry, its in english. haha, but there are a lot of cute backpacks there too! a bigger variety, there is also a bacg there that looks similar to this one and is really cute.. im considering it...

this backpack is absolutely fabulous! im going back to highschool for my senior year in about 3 weeks so i wanted an amazing backpack. BUILT Neoprene Sleeve for 17-inch Laptop, Black

I hope this helps anyone looking for a sleeve big enough for a laptop with the same dementions as the Dell 1764. The standard 17 inch Built sleeve offered on THIS PAGE did NOT fit my Dell Inspiron 1764 (17.3 inch screen; actual dimensions: 16.54" x 1.31" x 10.87"). At first I bought the standard 17in sleeve, but it barely zipped over my laptop, compromising the protective quality Built offers and straining the seams and zipper. However, afer SCOURING the net, I found out that Built offers a 17in Wide Screen Sleeve version. It is a PERFECT fit for my Dell 1764. I am very pleased that Built offers this widescreen version, as it was very hard to find a sleeve to fit my widescreen. I could not find the wideversion on amazon, but I did find it at Adorama dot com for $23.99.

This laptop sleeve is much sleeker looking than any others I have seen and the neoprene is thick. The price through Amazon is MUCH CHEAPER than buying the product through BuiltNY or any other retailer. The first one i got came poorly packaged, and although it is neoprene and I am sure the shape of it would have gone back to normal after a few days, I was ticked off that Amazon shipped it to my bent over in half. I immediately contacted Amazaon and they had another one shipped out to me. this time it came in a 3foot wide box; overexcessive, yes, but it came in with no issues.....another reason to buy from Amazon, their great customer service!!

I have a Dell Vostro 3750 and this sleeve fits prefect and hugs the laptop. The zippers are in the right spot as not the scratch the side when doing them up. The material is nice and thick to provide that protection that i wanted. I would deff buy this again.

OGIO Prequel Bag

I will be using this backpack for my upcoming semester and love it so much already. The color I purchased, Plaidapus looks so much better in person. It has this combination of green, olive, and light blue. Looks fantastic and definitely stands out.

It has fantastic features all around the bag to fit just about everything. The top zippered compartment (made for glasses) is perfect for my cellphone, middle compartment has space for keys, pens, pencils, and I can throw my Kindle and TI 84 calculator in there. The main compartment has tons of space for my books and padded sleeve for my laptop.

The straps are very thick and comfortable on my shoulders. Fits my 1L water bottle just fine on one side and a hidden zipper part on the other side, perfect for quick access to my id while on campus.

Only thing I didn't like about this bag were these clips that are on the straps. I think they are there for more support if you're carrying a heavy load, but they just looked out of place to me. I love that they slid right off and if I ever need them I can slide them back on. I would recommended this bag to anyone!

pros: The main compartment is big enough for a few binders, thinner books, and my netbook. The front pocket is great for organizing random supplies, and I love the side hidden pocket. The water bottle holder on the side is large enough for any travel mug I've used. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and the bag is slightly more narrow than previous bags I've owned, which is definitely a plus when trying to slip through crowded hallways. I also love the color options.

cons: One or two smaller valuables pockets would make this bag perfect.

The backpack is comfortable compared to other backpacks ive had, and also seems to be better made. This bag is not designed to carry every piece of camera equipment you own or ever will own; it is designed to carry what you need for most wildlife photo trips. It easily carries by Canon 1Ds Mark iii, 100-400IS lens, two other lenses, extra batteries, rain cover, a few filters, and sundry other small items. The bag is beautifully configured when you get it, but you can change it anyway you need for your uses. Three external pockets let you carry things you need immediately and because the cover is on the inside against your back when the pack is carried, it is both secure from theft and perfectly arranged so that, when you lay it down to get what you need out of it, the sand and dirt is on the outside not against your back when you put the pack back on. The waist band is a bit narrow, but it works well and the pack is comfortable. Arrangement of the tripod straps is very good. It has a handy pocket that pulls out when needed, into which yuu place the tripod legs, and then a conventional strap to secure the upper part of the tripod against the pack. And, remember, since the opening is on the back, you don't have to remove the tripod to open the bag.

I needed a backpack that would carry my camera, standard zoom lens, large lens and accessories, as well as the tripod. I recently went to Alaska with this backpack, and it worked out great; fit well into the carry-on spaces on planes, buses, and trains. I would highly recommend this pack.

I've been looking for a camera bag for quite some time and have been very picky. I wanted something versatile, comfortable and capable of carrying just what I needed and all for a decent price. I go hiking with my family a lot and it's always a pain carrying a shoulder style camera bag. However, all that's changed and, after just one use, I'd recommend this backpack to anyone.

I'm not a professional photographer; however, I do want a bag to carry my essentials which include a Canon 30D, 2 lenses, a tripod, a small video camera, a small digital camera for my 8 year old, as well as batteries, extra flashcards, and other small items. Yes, all this fit with room to spare as I didn't use any of the outside pockets except for the water bottle netting... but the best is yet to come!

Hiking with a camera backpack is fantastic! You don't have to deal with shoulder straps slipping and your hands are totally free to use as you will. But the best part (it's really fantastic) was to just swing the pack around to access my camera 'stuff' with a mimimum of fuss. The pack never touched the ground until we stopped to wade in a mountain pool with very, very, cold water... brrrrr.

The one thing about the bag I was hesitant about, before purchasing, was how the bag was going to hold the weight of all my equipment and still stay horizontal when used. No worries! The bag did not falter and performed as advertised. This is one of those purchases that gives you that "I'm glad I bought this" feeling. It's padded well, looks good, works as designed and, with the opening against your back, it's safe to take anywhere where crowds may hide those individuals looking for an opportunity to avail themselves of your equipment.

If you're like me and looking for something that's not too expensive and can carry the essentials then this Lowepro 300 Flipside backpack should be highly considered.

First of all, this is a great product and does what it is supposed to. But if falls short of true greatness in several areas. I know secure packing is a priority, but none of my issues would affect the protection of the equipment except for clipped on components. I wanted a case like this (I have many others as well) and the security and form factor are what I needed. But this is a photography bag and thus should be designed for photography, not permanent storage.

First, as anyone knows whose shooting action whether sports, news or animals, being able to open a bag while juggling lenses, bodies, etc. speed is of the essence. The problem here is not access, but the size and reach of the zippers. The zipper teeth are on the small size and I fear as the zippers go screaming around the corners, their life will be short, especially since they hang up rounding the top corners. They have not jammed or broken yet, but these are zippers are only human. I think a pair of #10 YKKs are in order instead of wimpy small teeth zips with big pulls.

My second gripe is with the reach of the zippers. I carry an 80-200 2.8 across the bottom of the pack (it allows me several lens/body choices so I can carry any lens on my D300 with MB-D10 grip (upsidedown from the usual pictures, by the way). The zippers don't quite reach the bottom of the pack so I have to wedge the lens out at unrealistic effort. In fact, much of the diameter of the lens falls below the reach of the zippers. I'm sure there's some reason for this design, but whatever it is escapes me.

Oh, I use the small dividers in a way that can flip them sideways or down when not needed and close like a door when needed. This allows me to reconfigure the compartments on the fly (Lowe should pursue this concept since a good design would allow almost anything anywhere in the pack).

Anyway, if the zippers went down one inch more (but two would be great) on both sides, the pack would allow rapid access to all areas. This same problem appears with the removable pouch. The pouch just happens to be the same length as a SB-600 flash with diffuser. But again, the zipper does not reach the ends of the pouch and I have to force the flash in and wedge it out. I don't zip the pouch all that much so I might just use a knife to cut the opening a little larger.

The zip side pocket is almost unusable. Great effort was engineered into it and its special CF card slots, but the rest of the stitched in slots are oddly sized. I cannot even fit a Nikon lens pen into the pen slots, and barely get a regular sharpie into the pen slot. Pretty much nothing fits anywhere else and in my mind, is an expensive (materials and workmanship) waste of space. Maybe it's size is a security feature as well since you cannot get anything of value in there (except maybe an ipod). In fact, now that I think of it, a pocket accessible when wearing the pack would really be useful. Further, the design of the pocket makes it easy to dump what ever contents when opening it. Be careful when opening it on a crowded subway.

The net pocket on the other side is useful, but should have been made with heavier material if it going to last, especially with a water bottle stuffed in there. The material is more of a silky nylon stocking thickness. At least a reinforced bottom would make sense since the stretch around anything in it would rip open like a water balloon the moment it rubbed on a brick wall.

The carry handle is a great idea and I find myself grabbing it quite often, but it is often the only tie-on point when needing to clip something to the bag in the heat of the battle. A webbing ladder would be useful since the exterior has been stripped of not only conventional openings, but also attachment points. This is true also on the shoulder straps. I so badly wanted to clip my GPS and/or cell phone to a webbing point on the shoulder strap, but everything has been sewn down tight except for two loose flapping loops that are more suited for a hydration tube than a digital device.

I think the back panel could have been better served with a thicker or firmer padding. I place my camera body base toward my back because the hotshoe is quite poky, especially while climbing or mountain biking with the pack cinched tight. After a couple hours on the road or in the saddle, this the contents of the pack make themselves known.

Overall, this is a great direction for a camera bag, but for serious outdoor (whether city or mountain) use, this has some holes. I have no regrets, but it is frustrating when a product comes so close to perfection but has unnecessary flaw in its design that should have been fixed during the field trials.

As a college student, i purchased this bag to accomodate my canon 5d, 16-35 mk 1 lens, 85mm 1.8, 580 ex II, gary fong diffuser, batteries, cf cards, white balance cards, and also a mini aluminum tripod.

The purpose of choosing this bag and choosing say a fastpack 350 or 250, was the fact of price and value. This bag offers great value with a very clean/non-bloated design that will also accomodate a tripod, useful for night-time urban street biking. I also bought this knowing that a netbook could be squeezed in between the zipper bag in which it did close without much effort at all! major plus. so now i can effectively use my camera bag to school without missing much (well maybe my textbooks). Probably the only downside of this bag is that it will slow your shooting down if you like to put your camera back into the bag after every shot. (sometimes)

PROS: great value for the price.

THE perfect camera bag for hiking/day use,

clean design,

tripod mount is a plus (can support a full blown tripod, however.... see cons below)

CONS: when carrying a tripod, the tripod strap is placed too low and should have been designed into the handle on top. the effect is that the tripod "rocks" back and forth when hiking. this is especially noticable when walking long distances. one way to remedy this is to attach an additional velcro strap at the handle to add stability.

Second major con: when using the bag in "flip" mode, the strap that goes around your waist effectively CUTS INTO your lowerback. lowepro dropped the ball by not adding padded straps. this is a HUGE deal, especially when carrying 10lbs of camera equipment in the bag. I remedied this by finding a laptop strap that had a removable padding piece. i slid this into the waist area and whala, i can literally hold the bag in flip mode for 30 minutes and not feel any lower back pain!

so aside from the key minor issues, this is a great camera bag. Highly recommended for traveling on the go and more comfortable to carry than having a sidebag such as a crumpler to walk around with all day.

I have now picked up a 70-200 2.8 IS and some ND filters used with the cokin mount which are stored in CD sleeves (to save space) and some flash triggers as well. This bag is absolutely maxed out now and I couldn't have been any happier with this purchase. Best affordable bag on the market for hiking, biking and urban shooting. Love it!!

Nanuk 940 Case with Cubed Foam (Graphite)

I own a digital capture company so buying cases for my cameras and lenes is crutial, expecailly when traveling. I recently purchaes the Nanuk 940 as well as a smaller Nanuk. I have only great things to say. It is durable, affordable and easy to open. Latches on most of these type of cases are very difficult to undo. The Nanuck is incredible easy. I have designed the foam inserts to my liking and all my equipment fits snug. I am very confident while traveling with this case. It can withstand anything.

I highly reccomend any of the Nanuk cases.

I have been using the Nanuk 940 case for a few months now. My work takes me all over the globe. I have been using this case for my portable light system. The case is great! It's light weight, very professional looking and has a nice tight seal. The locking clips are very nice. I do own two pelican cases and have never had a problem with the locking clips, but I do find the locking clips on the Nanuk 940 easier to use.

I think that Nanuk could improve the lock stack and lock system. I have no problem buying or recommending any of Nanuk cases.

Money well invested!

OK.....I know what you are thinking but let me tell you, this case is just great!

I have also used the other guys case's for many years and seriously no huge complaints, other than the occasional hurt finger. That aside they have done the job just fine. That being said I recently got a Nanuk 940 with dividers and I have never been happier. Number one this case is lighter for sure and the divider system is far superior...Just seems easier to manage. Also, the latches are super simple to open and close (no more hurt fingers) and the cases just look better. If you are looking for a better-looking case, which is lighter and easier to use, I highly recommend Nanuk.

I recently got booked for a photo shoot in the Amazon (HA), anyways I needed several cases to put my equipment in which would withstand not only potential water issues but extreme heat and potential hard handling. I ordered one at first since I have never seen these cases before but was lucky enough to stumble upon them while searching the net. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up at my front door. The case itself is very good looking and built very well. I love the latch system, a huge improvement from the other cases I have been using for many years.

I can't tell you how many times I have had to fumble with the other guy's latches and ended up missing my magic shot because of it! The foam insert was easy to customize and the idea of an auto pressure release is just genius. Especially when getting on and off the plane several times.

Traveler's Choice Rome 25 in. Hardside Spinner Upright

I bought this suitcase for a trip to China a couple weeks ago. What a super value. It held up well throughout, was/is super lightweight and is a great size. Not as small as a carry-on, but not as big as the monster we use for the family either. Just right for one person or a couple on a vacation or business trip.

Since the suitcase is divided exactly in half, it was nice that one side zipped up internally so when you closed it everything you packed into that side wouldn't tumble out. Nice design.

My only small complaint is that the zipper didn't seem really smooth. It never caught on anything, but didn't have the feel of a high quality zipper. Will this be the suitcase's weak link? Time will tell.

And yes, there was a chemically smell when it first arrived. I aired it out in another room for a day or two and the odor went away.

I'll update my review as I continue to travel with this beautiful piece of luggage.

I went ahead and jumped on this product after looking for luggage with "spinner" wheels and finding this cheap solution. The case itself is very attractive and the wheels work just as you'd expect. SO much easier to roll it around on all 4 wheels than supporting it on two wheels and working it out.

I have not run into a problem with the connective strip on the back breaking like I've read another review had happen to them, though it may heavily rely on the handling at the airports. With that said, I've only taken this on two trips so far, and Continental Airlines managed to only minimally scratch the outer case. The handle however now has an issue where it can be pushed down without having the push in the button on the handle, as you needed to when I first receieved it. Material quality could be questioned here, but as I said, airlines play such a big part in suitcase reviewing. Take that piece of info as you wish. As for the rest of the case, clipping elastic bands on the inside secure your clothes, the top half consists of a zipper-compartment to hold it those items, and there is a small puch in the back-bottom for bathroom necessities. You positively cannot be dissappointed with this product if you purchase, especially at the low price as when I bought it. I give this 2 thumbs up.

this case is both lightweight as well as pretty sturdy and solid hardcase. i once carried several bottles of wine/champagne in it all without a problem. it rolls nicely on both 2 wheels or on 4 wheels though 4 wheels is better if the case is extremely heavy (i.e. with wine bottles).

I would say that there is no better suitcase on the market today. This suitcase is nice and lite and with the wheels that turn it makes it so easy to move around the airport . People who travel would gladly trade in there old suitcase for this suitcase after only one try. amazon has the best deal on the internet and also beats all store prices.

Targus 17" CityGear Laptop Backpack

Targus CityGear Backpack Case for 17 Inch Notebooks TCG216

This has the potential to be a great bag, but doesn't quite get there. I replaced a 7-year old Targus backpack that finally gave out, after >100,000 miles of air travel the zipper for the main laptop compartment broke. Great product, so I thought we'll go with Targus again.

Wrong. This bag had potential TONS of storage, lots of pockets, some nice features advertised, so I ordered it. When it arrived, I noticed a significant decline in quality the nylon is thinner, cheaper, and the laptop storage compartment has almost no padding to speak of. The zippers are cheap go back to YKKs or at least something with a substantial track and closure mechanism these won't last.

Targus also advertises a key clip in the front organizer pocket. WRONG it's NOT there, even though Amazon.com and Targus' website both state that it exists. They've taken it out (likely to cut costs), and this a huge negative for me. Who wants to dig around in their bag after coming home from a week-long trip, standing in a hot parking garage after being on a crowded plane and in airports all days, trying to find their keys? I need those keys to be where they are easily accessible and always in the same spot. That was the primary driver for my old Targus bag I needed that, and it had one.

On the plus side of things, this bag will hold all but the biggest laptops guess that's why the padding is so insignificant. The expandable pocket on the front might come in handy for something purchased last minute that I can't get into my carry-on or checked bag. There are four organizer pockets, ranging in size from gianormous to about the size of a CD case; there are two smaller zippered pockets for change, lip balm, pens, etc., and the side compartments 1 for a water bottle, 1 for sunglasses/cell phone/PDA are nice.

Debated returning it just because of the key clip that's a deal-breaker for me, but got a large caribiner clip and we'll see how that works out. If I hate it, back it goes. I also moved over my sunglasses case and the little LED flashlight on the retractable cord, from my old bag those are things I have to have. Too hard to find something in the bottom of black bag, on a night flight, without that, and my glasses will get crushed in the side pocket.

Shame on Targus they've always made a quality product well, at least up until now. I don't expect this bag to last more than a year or two, so I may just move over to Swissgear. Not impressed. I'm traveling tomorrow and plan to move the padding from my old bag over into this one I just don't think it's sufficient to protect my laptop as-is.

I've only had this bag for less than a couple weeks, so there's still quite a few uncertainties about this bag in terms of durability and longevity. Nonetheless, I have to admit too... this pack is HUUUGE!!! I'm currently only using it for school, in which this bag has more storage space than I'll probably ever need. On the other hand, it also has great potential for traveling, and may offer just enough space, organization, and convenience for a carry-on or weekend getaway. I have a 17" MacBook Pro that fits very easily with ample room to spare. However, I wonder if the 15.4" backpack would've been more snug and just right for the laptop, or maybe too small. The only thing I would've changed was put more velcro on beneath the strap in order to reduce the excess space inside the laptop pocket. Hence, I'm getting a sleeve in order to "fill" that space and for extra padding and Protection of my laptop. Other than that, the backpack does look very nice and stylish, feels very comfortable and lightweight. I just hope the material used to make it that light does not compromise its durability and longevity. But only time will tell I guess.

I bought this to fit my Asus G74sx and it did fit! It was a bit tight, do not have any problems or resistance in zipping up the bag. The corners stick up though, and really doesn't provide much protection for the corners because of it. To be honest the rest of the sides of the laptop compartment aren't padded well either, I really wouldn't trust it in a good drop (to be fair >85% of laptop bags I've looked at are very similar in this failure).

Apart from that, the bag itself is large enough for my needs. I usually have my laptop, charger, a small 12v inverter, 20ft cat5 cable, 1-2 500+ pg books, a couple spiral notebooks, a mouse, and random stationary in there without problem. My pack can easily weigh 30+lbs and I will walk around with this for a couple miles without much discomfort (back and shoulder padding are nothing to write home about).

The front has this weird clip for holding clothes or shoes on the outside (not closed) part of your bag. Not horribly useful in my experience, and it's rather annoying looking. My third biggest complaint is it's general design/looks.

My BIGGEST problem with this bag is the gray fabric between the back padding and the shoulder straps. It has this single piece of fabric that goes across the back that connects the two straps together and then to the back padding. If you like to keep your backpack high on your back (best position for carrying weight for distances w/out pain), then you will notice this fabric piece immediately. It digs into your neck/spine and makes the pack incredibly uncomfortable. I have to loosen the straps and keep this backpack lower on my back then I'd like just so I don't have the weight of the entire pack digging into the center of my neck/spine on this piece of fabric. I will try to attach some pictures of what I'm talking about I didn't see many other reviewers with this problem which makes me think most people ride with a pack loose and low on their back for some reason. I'm a long distance backpacker/hiker so I guess I'm funny about where my pack is positioned. NOTE: I've had two other laptop bags, one being another targus, and neither have had this design flaw.

All in all it was a fairly average backpack. It had plenty of storage for my needs, good compartmentalized areas, good water bottle holder, and it's one of 5 laptop bags I could find that actually fit the G74SX! However it was lacking in padding for the laptop (especially on the sides and corners the place most likely to take some heavy impact), it was very bland design/looking, and the shoulder/neck strap flaw is horrible.

So I needed a very large capacity backpack with a compartment to safely carry a 15 inch laptop, and I got it. Ample space, and its not cluttered up with file organizers, or zippered pouches, or any of that crap which you will almost never use which just ruins the space, so that was good. It doesn't seem cheap, just thin and almost weak. I have it loaded down with 4 text books, all my school supplies, and a laptop, and it is holding up fine, I think it could have been made a little 'sturdier' is all. I'm not disappointed at all though. Good bag if you need to carry a library on your back.

This bag is a great bag. It has plenty of pockets and space to fit not only by 17 inch laptop, but also all the cords and books I need to carry on a daily basis. I've flown with this bag a couple of times and it fits in the overhead bins very well. It has pockets for the mp3 player, and mouse pocket and water bottle holder. A great bag at a great deal.

I really liked this sleeve. Unfortunately the battery that stuck out the back of my ThinkPad made my machine too big for the sleeve. However, as long as you have the correct dimensions, the sleeve seems very well made.

I find a lot of technology cases look tacky and "gadgety" but this one looks clean and classic. It's slim appearance belies the fact that it can actually hold a thicker laptop.
