This is for the family. My three year old uses it when we go to the beach or for her stuffed animals. I used it when I went to a rave (it's like a techno concert). There is a big difference in height and weight but it has been durable with both our uses. The strings stretch in and out for both of us making it versatile. I may have to buy another for me! It held up in 3 washes which is amazing for the color and fabric. I only air dried though. For this price, it's a steal.

Arc'teryx Cierzo 18 Daypack

I love buying from the Canadian based company (although this pack is made in the Philippines) Arc'teryx because they stand behind their products. I had a zipper go bad on an old pack and they had it repaired (free of charge) and shipped back to me in a few days. Also, I got a hole in the pocket of my lightweight jacket and they sent me a replacement jacket worth $100 more because they didn't stock my color in my model anymore. Amazing service from a really great company.

The Cierzo 18 is the perfect daypack. I've been traveling with it for a year straight. When I don't need it, it packs into itself and I toss it in my big bag. It's lightweight and doesn't take up any space. When I do need it, it does everything I need it to. I typically keep my iPad, keyboard, notebooks, and camelback in it with a little room to spare. The pouch inside the main compartment is perfect for passports, wallet, etc. The heavy duty utility strap on the outside is nice to hang a sweatshirt from when you don't need to wear it. There is a handy keyring clip inside the smaller compartment. The pack has proven to be water resistant and extremely durable for being so light weight.

The shoulder straps are minimalist but you could never put enough weight in the pack for it to be a problem. I did end up cutting the waist strap off because its something I will never use. I believe the pack was designed for climbing so the strap makes sense but I don't climb. No complaints, I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a pack in this size. Hope this review was helpful.

Kenneth Cole Reaction 15.4" Brown Colombian Leather Computer Portfolio

This is a great bag, the leather is nice and soft yet durable. Inside pockets are lined, expands to be considerably large. The only thing I would like better: when you unzip the expansion, the inner compartment (one that houses the laptop) gets larger... it may be nice if the outer pocket (one that has the file separators) would expand. For example, if I have a bottle of water I would rather put that in with the files than the laptop, but aside from that it's a very nice bag. And, I suppose it does make more sense for the inner compartment to expand because that has a flat bottom so you can fit more in there.

Would definitely recommend!

I love the bag but the zippers are driving me crazy while I walk. It would have been nice if they came with a little rubber coating or zipper glove to supress the noise.

This is a really nice bag for the price offered by amazon as opposed to the original retail.

The color is a very nice typical leathery dark brown and the feel of the leather is soft and soothing.

It fits my 15 inch mac book pro nice and snug, with about half an inch to spare on each side.

The other section holds a book or two with a few paper files without bulking up.

I would recommend it.

Lassig Messenger Diaper Bag

I like the internal pockets to separate out various things and the internal zippered pocket to store extra clothes, blankets, etc. However, if you want to carry more than what you need for changing a baby, this bag may be too small and the flap may not secure that well.

I had been looking for a diaper bag to hold all my twins' gear plus my own things, that could work for either my husband or for me. Another mom of multiples recommended the Lassig Messenger Eco-Friendly Diaper Bag, Stones Black. I love it it's exactly what I needed!

I also looked at the Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe Charcoal. It's pretty good, but it may be too big for everyday use unless you use your side-by-side stroller a lot. I might use the Skip Hop Duo Double for travel or for trips to the city where I need a bigger bag for an all-day outing. However, as a purse it's not as useful as it's missing the zippered pockets and key ring of the Lassig. I would not use this for the office either as it looks too much like a diaper bag; finally, I found the Skip Hop Duo Double be too wide to use comfortably on the shoulder.

In summary, if you have lots of kids and need a good everyday bag that either mom or dad can use, that is versatile enough to use on any stroller or with a carrier, that you can use afterwards as a purse or briefcase, go with the Lassig.

I've been looking for something smaller and lighter than my old, but solid Samsonite laptop briefcase, and came across this bag at Office Max. I thought that the size and capacity would be just right to fit my asus tf700, a padfolio, and some books. I bounced between this bag and many of the other, but large bags, finally choosing this bag as my primary motive was to find something small, but capable. On the bright side, the middle pocket fits by docked tablet perfectly, and I could still get my padfoloio and something as big as my DSM-IV in there as well. Very good.

Unfortunately, I quickly found that the strap does little good. While it looks to be well made, with hardware that seemed to be better than that found on the bigger Ful bags, the pad is affixed in an awkward area that forces you to carry the bag a certain way. Not good. If I swapped straps, the problem is easily solved, but I shouldn't have to do that. I've also noticed that when the top is closed, the bag still opens up outside of the lid, meaning rain can come right in. I'm not too fond of the closing method either, as it just hooks into a loop. No quick clips, no velcro. While it may be secure enough, its minimal. Lastly, and this is more of a nit pick, but the bag seems to hang very unbalanced when held by the hand strap, which also seems to be the weak point of the bag.

In these store it seemed viable, but once I put a daily load in, it seemed to be less practical, and will likely be going back soon.

this backpack is amazing! there are more pockets than i know what to do with. it is very light, very comfortable and just right. i am a student and it carries everything perfectly and the laptop pocket is great. its a great product, a great value. i would recommend it to anyone.

This is an extremely nice backpack. I bought this backpack for school and works very well. It has one compartment for your laptop, another for large books, one for small supplies (calculator, pens, pencils, etc.), and 3 other small compartments for almost anything you want.

PROS:

Very light...even with things inside the backpack

Enough room for books and such

Comfortable backpack straps, not tough on your shoulders

A compartment on the outside for your iPod (Nano or Video)

Inside is orange so you can see small things that you might not be able to see if it were dark

Very durable

CONS:

The "Microsoft" logo is everywhere! On the front of the backpack in the lower right hand corner is a "Microsoft" logo. Looks kind of tacky. Also, Microsoft is written on all of the zippers

The orange may be helpful, but it doesn't look that good.

Overall, it is a very nice backpack. It may not have the greatest looks, but it works very well for school.

This bag is great. However, "Protective padded sleeve holds laptop up to 15.4" is not tall enough for my 15.4" Dell Insp laptop.It is wide enough to hold it and the zipper can't be close with the laptop inside. I am using it anyway to carry the laptop.

Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Day Pack (22-Liter)

Compact and very light-weight. First day I filled it up with several water bottles (15-20 lbs) and took a short walk. At first I had my doubts (I am used to having a waist strap). It felt a little small and pulled back on my shoulders. However, after about 15 minutes I actually forgot it was there. It was very comfortable and carried the weight well. I did not test the waterproofness but I am sure I will have an opportunity in the near future. It is a bit pricy but I feel it is worth it if you want a compact ultra-light pack that can be used on the trail or around town.

This is a great pack for me. I am traveling Southeast Asia and China with a 34 L pack for several months, and this day pack scrunches down to smaller than my fist. Also, the waterproofing is very good. I would not dunk it under water, however none of my things have ever gotten wet from rain and I have been through some very heavy rain in the rainy seasons here. It fits a lot of stuff too, almost what my normal bag would hold! =). It even has some draw strings on the outside so you can put some extra stuff there. Definitely a well thought out design and worth the investment if you need such features as small size and waterproofing.

This bags works great. I pack my hammock, a bug net, a travel pillow, and rain fly in here. At first I was worried about the strap durability but they seem fine after use. It is hard to repack in the stuff sack.

I'm an experienced ultralight backpacker and was looking for something inexpensive (compared to high end cuben fiber backpacks) to use as a daypack. This product fits the bill except for one thing: The straps are really not much better than raw cord.

The silnylon that goes over the shoulders has no structure to it so it bunches up and puts a lot of pressure on your shoulders, and the silnylon portion is so short that it switches to chafing paracord well above where it should.

Part of the issue is that I'm significantly larger than most (6'5" 240lbs) so the strap length might be fine for less freakish dimensions.

I'm not going to return it. I think I'll still be able to get dayhike use out of it provided I don't ever have to load it up with more than a couple liters of water, but it's carry comfort for anything but the very lightest of weights is questionable and something that should be considered by any future purchasers.

I had my eye on this pack for awhile. I originally wanted black but ended up getting the forge grey color because it was a good deal cheaper at the time. My only complaint is that it can almost have a slight green tint in certain lighting. It's really well made, and I love that some of the straps can be removed (as I'm not always hiking in the Himalayas).

Eagle Creek Luggage Heritage Weekender Bag

I purchased this bag for 2 reasons: It slides over the handle of my rollabout suitcase, making it easy to transport through airports and city streets, and it has plenty of additional storage space. I also like the quality of Eagle Creek luggage. It's a bit pricey, but a good long-term travel investment

It has a compact profile but holds a LOT inside. I was amazed how much I could stuff into it. There was concern it would be too narrow, but the width fit the Eagle Creek Half-cube just fine (and then some), and has more than enough room to pack for a weekend. As a carry-on, it fits perfectly on airplanes "under the seat in front of you", if you like to keep an eye on your valuables.

Very light, but very sturdy. Genius outer-rear pocket also serves as a slip-sleeve to pull-over the handle of your suitcase/roll-aboard for ease and convenience. Inside organizer pockets help keep smaller items sorted so they're easy to locate in the main compartment. Unhook the shoulder straps to secure to your seat while waiting for your train/plane, or remove if you decide to check-in your carry-on at the gate.

My only disappointment is that there is no key ring or fob holder sewn into the rear pocket or inside the main compartment. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend this to my adventurous friends.

Just in case you wanted to buy Belkin Slim Backpackdon't... This one is way better! The material is very good quality, will last forever, unlike the slim backpack that is made of neoprene. Plus this one is as slim and lite and looks as good.

There are two main compartments inside and a zipper pocket outside. The laltop compartment is padded for better protection, it won't feet a 17", only 15" or smaller. Second compartment is spacious enough for a book or two and it also has a pen holder, a smaller zipper pocket and a couple other things that will hold small items. You also get a removable pouch that easily fits charger which is convinient.

The straps of this backpack are padded as well and are adjustable.

Great buy overall: looks good, functional and priced right.

I am used to over-the-shoulder laptop bags to carry my computer, files and other miscellaneous items. After a while, I started experiencing shoulder and back pain from the heaviness of the bag. The Belkin bag may not be "pretty", but it's still stylish and not bulky at all which is why I love it. I use the Belkin bag to hold: my laptop, some files, a small notebook, pens, cell phone, umbrella, and my work heels comfortably. When I carry it on my back, I can barely feel the weight because it's now equally distributed instead of solely on my right shoulder. I walk about 1.5 miles per day commuting to/from work and I have never felt any pain since using this bag. However, if you're a student hoping to haul several textbooks and notebooks, this isn't the bag for you. I love this bag because it's slim and not bulky, but I also don't have a lot to carry around. When I first wore the Belkin bag to work, two of my female co-workers immediately wanted to try it out because they were also experiencing the shoulder and back pain from carrying too much weight on one shoulder. Both have purchased this bag after trying it out for a day. I discovered this bag was waterproof during the second week and that was an added bonus. This is an amazing bag. I was looking around the web for a few hours and I finally decided to buy this bag. The slim version of this bag must be tiny because this bag is quite small. But not too small, i put my 15' macbook pro/ a medium sized text book/ two 2 subject notebooks/ a slim hard drive/ the wires for the hard drive/ psp go/ iphone/ computer charger/ my tapes for my video camera and pens and pencils. These all fit and it keeps a very slim presence it is not even stretching. I find that it can do this because of the way that they have placed the bags on the back back in such a way that everything is spread out and fits wonderfully. After looking for hours I decided on this bag, but when it came in it is very small, so I sent it back. I am an older grad student that goes straight from class to work, so I needed something that I could carry my laptop and class material in, looked as mature as possible, had good organization for my other personal items (cell, wallet, keys etc) and most importantly affordable. The price for this one can't be beat, and I have recommended it to friends even though I didn't keep it. There were 2 main reasons I sent it back: 1) once my laptop was loaded in I probably had room for one course pack (spiral bound 1.5 inch) and a composition book, I don't carry a ton of books, but more than that and 2) there is no dedicated pen, pencil, phone pocket...the little card slot organizer (pretty lacking) is just on the inside of the main compartment which would become a nightmare I'm sure.

This would be perfect for a lady that needs a laptop backpack, but also carries a purse. It is made very well. I decided on an Ivar Zug G2 Daypack instead...more expensive but meets my needs better.

SwissGear Travel Gear 1592 Backpack

The SA1592 backpack has been on the market for quite a while, so I'm really surprised that this is the first review. I bought mine at a retail store, where I had an opportunity to directly compare SwissGear backpacks against a number of other brands, like The North Face and Jansport. To me, SwissGear offered the best build quality, along with an attractive style, at a very competitive price.

After deciding to go with SwissGear, my next decision was choosing between the SA1592 and the SwissGear 1900. Both are very well made, and share many common features, and are available in black, and black and red, color schemes. The 1900 has a heavy duty plastic handle on the top, and a separate side accessible compartment dedicated for a laptop. However, to secure the computer, there was only one narrow padded strap with Velcro on both ends. This did not seem to provide adequate security, and the 1900 does not have a waist strap. So after some deliberation, I went with the SA1592, because it seemed to offer a bit more security.

The SA1592 is about 20" high, and 16" wide, and has many of the standard SwissGear features, including bottle holder pockets on each side, large 11" high zippered side pockets with grommet holes, a compartment with organizer pockets, heavily padded an sculptured airflow backing, padded shoulder straps, and a large main compartment with a deep sleeve for a laptop up to 15". The black and red nylon outer material, appears to be pretty durable, but is still very pliable, with a slight sheen. The major zippers are wide, and have large solidly built metal pull handles, with openings that you can insert a small padlock through. If you really had to, a cord could be fed through the grommet holes in the sides of the pack, and used to tie down something, on the top of the pack.

There's a slit on top to feed through your earphone cord, and a couple of dedicated pockets inside, near the top, for your phone, radio, or MP3 player. This larger compartment can accommodate quite a bit, and has a couple of additional zippered compartments inside. The organizer compartment is on the back near the bottom, and has five pen-sized sleeves, other miscellaneous pockets, as well as a detachable key ring. A small detachable holster case, is provided on the shoulder strap.

The strap for the laptop compartment is Velcro, but almost everything else is secured by either zippers, or plastic clips. Things may slide around inside the backpack, but properly zipped up and secured, there is very little chance that anything inside will accidentally fall out, or get lost, except for through the grommet holes.

What's missing? Not too much actually. While the padded handle on top is very serviceable, a hard plastic one like the 1900 model, would have been nice. Plastic bumpers on the bottom of the pack would have provided additional protection, but that would also have made the pack less collapsible.

Empty, the backpack doesn't weigh much, but it is capable of holding a lot of stuff. It is very comfortable to wear, as the shoulder straps provide good support, and distribute the weight nicely. The waist strap is a little narrow, and only extends to fit about a 40" waist, but it does help prevent the pack from sliding off.

I'm very happy with this cool looking, and very functional backpack, which I got on sale for only $40.

The bag is of a very good quality, and well worth the money spent. It looks and feels durable. It's a bit heavy though, even when empty.

I owned a SwissGear for several years, very similar style and looking. After years of carrying TWO 15" laptop and/or multiple camera gears, it has loosened stitches. In searching to find a replacement, Travel Gear 19xx series looks very good.

Just one problem, only the 1592 has a waist strap. I need to have the waist strap, so 1592 is the only choice I have.

I don't need the smartScan feature that actually waist one layer of zipped space. The laptop porch is also side in, unlike the 1592 top in.

Overall, I recommend 1592 over later styles 19xx.

I purchased this backpack for a recent trip to Europe. I was looking for a carry on bag that would fit my laptop and literature for work and this is perfect for just that. There are many compartments which I like but with the laptop, a few magazines and files, I couldn't fit many goodies to take on my return trip.....had to cram them in the checked luggage which was over packed! I was able to fit a few medium size bags of chocolates and snacks but otherwise not much room for anything else. The padding for the laptop takes up a lot of space as well as the material that separates the different sections of the backpack. Overall, it is a good backpack but don't expect to fit a lot of stuff in it.

I would have liked it if there was some guide as to what all of the various pockets were really designed to do. One assume there was thought put into it, and I am finding uses for most of them but a guide as to the intended use owuld be nice. Otherwise I have lready traveled with it severaltimes and it is just what I needed spacious, not too bulky, sturdy.

Dakine Rider's Duffle Bag

I am a mountain biker so i need to carry lots of stuff for my trips, this bag is perfect when you need separate insulated pockets to carry your change clothes and your dirty clothes without mixing them. Also this bag has lots of space for additional gear as helmets, gloves etc. I recommend this product if you carry lots of stuff in your mountain biking trips!

Carries everything i need for a day trip riding. Extremely big... Might get the smaller one later on. I hate writing things when i dont want to.

Good bag but much larger than it appears. Holds enough clothes for two weeks but much too heavy for me to comfortably carry when it is fully packed so I tend to just rely on a large suitcase with wheels. I guess the dimensions did not seem nearly as large as the bag would actually be.

Size is very generous but I ended up dragging it through the train station because I could not carry it.

Incase Campus Pack / Backpack - Aubergine / Cranberry - CL55418

The backpack has ample space to carry a laptop (slim profile), a 980+ page hardcover textbook, 2 regular notebooks, plus a small lunch and thermos with some room to spare. The one thing that would have made it perfect is the addition of one more pocket in the main compartment with a zipper for items you want to secure inside. The backpack does have 4 pockets inside: main sleeve for laptop (with fleece on the back part only), sleeve for iPad (or notebooks in my case), two small pockets on inside front, and 2 pen slots. The top pocket on the exterior is smaller than excepted (a smartphone and Chapstick is about all that will fit) but the bottom one is bigger than excepted. The zippers were a little hard to open at first, but with use they slide more smoothly. Overall, very comfortable and seems durable. The purple color is not overly bright either, so still looks professional but with an edge.
