Wenger Travel Gear Neo Lite 24" Exp. Spinner

Wenger Travel Gear Neo Lite 24' Exp. SpinnerI had this bag for 6 years and traveled the world with it. When it had finally seen better days, I just had to get a replace ment. Soild construction, good materials. Definitly a keeper.

This a functional suitcase with all the stuff travelers want these days. It will spin and move freely in any direction. I miss the zip pockets I had at the stort ends inside my last suitcase, but everything else is here.

I subtracted a star because the zippers are a little stubborn as they go around the outside corners.

Swiss Gear SA1061 Black/Swiss Red Backpack

Swiss Gear SA1061 Black/Swiss Red BackpackThis is a rather nice, comfortable, and super lightweight backpack. Unlike other similar backpacks, though, this has only 2 pockets. Most other Swiss Gear backpacks tend to have 3 pockets. That probably is a factor in the lighter weight.

The material is super tough and my previous Swiss Gear backpack lasted over 25 trips before it started showing signs of wear it is still entirely usable, but the fabric is beginning to fray.

Please ignore the other review complaining of no padded sleeve for a notebook. He is right, of course, but this is not a valid complaint, since the description clearly represents that there is no such sleeve in this product. There are plenty of other Wenger/Swiss Gear backpacks that do provide that feature. Just not this one.

I love swiss gear product. I have been using their back bags for 4 years now. they are very roomy with enough pockets(depending on the model).

Pros:

-it can withstand load

-does not tear apart

-comfy shoulder band

-water resistant

-it keeps shape and zest ( does not look worn out after few years)

Cons:

-Not enough bottom support if you put it on the floor it always keel over

-Laptop compartment do not have bottom support

-It could use some ergonomic back design

It is big enough to carry two texts books and two binders. Its perfect for college and is really comfortable. I really like the front pocket because it easily fits all my excess items. Also, people have complained about this item because it doesnt have a laptop pocket, but the description doesnt say anything about a laptop pocket. Other Swiss Gear bags do have them, but this one is great if you arent looking for one with a laptop pocket!!!! I recommend this backpack to anyone.

This is a wonderful backpack and I love the way it's designed. This is a backpack for those who need to carry light weight stuff, may be a good one for official use if you don't carry a laptop.

Pros:

1. Good Looking. I love the name written in Horizontal style.

2. Enough pockets for carry couple of separate items.

3. Can place your iPod/music player inside the bag pocket provided and can have the headphone cord come out of the small passage provided for this purpose.

4. Looks strong in material and stitching.

5. Comfortable while carrying it.

6. Quality.

I got this bag for official purpose. There are other bags with cushions for different purpose. Though I guess 14" laptop can be easily fit inside the bag if you want to. The same backpack in store would cost you approx 40 to 50 bucks.

Cheers...

My first compartment chain ain't working smoothly. No idea if that's the problem with all these bags. Just snatched a star out of it. Though the bag still looks new and am using it daily to office since I got it. Thanks.

Powerbag Rolling Office Case with Battery for Charging Smartphones, Tablets and eReaders (RFAP-0018

Powerbag Rolling Office Case with Battery for Charging Smartphones, Tablets and eReadersI purchased this rolling laptop bag with battery charger after recent misadventures flying from the West Coast back to the Midwest. Hiking from one end of the San Francisco airport and then racing to make connections from one end of the Denver airport to the other, I learned that due to recently diagnosed arthritis in my neck, my days of hand-carrying or shoulder-carrying a laptop bag/briefcase are over. So I learned that I needed a bag that rolls.

Then, because I missed my connection back home and was stuck overnight in a Denver hotel without my checked luggage, I learned two more things: Make sure to get a bag with space enough for an extra change of clothes, toiletries, and medicine. And make sure I have a way to charge my iPhone and iPad--both of which went dead overnight as I realized I had packed my charging cords in my checked and unavailable luggage.

This Powerbag fits all my newly learned criteria. It rolls, with a telescoping handle (though I hope the aluminum handle proves strong enough). It has several separate zipped compartments, including a padded one for a laptop and a large one suitable for overnight needs. And it has a rechargeable battery that can charge iPhone, iPad, and other electronic devices. A variety of connectors come with it.

If I had had this Powerbag during my recent West Coast trip, my misadventures would have been far more manageable. I'm glad I found this product, both for my next trip and for my daily commute to my office.

I was looking for a "gadget" for my gadget-guy husband. This is, to be blunt, the gadget-person's ultimate "gadget holder". My husband had never seen one -didn't even know he wanted it but he LOVES it.

There is nothing like the feeling of being able to **SURPRISE** a gadget loving person with a gadget they didn't even KNOW about!!! The idea of having not only a case to carry ALL his devices, BUT having a battery source so easy to transport and plug in anywhere is GREAT. He can get all his "stuff" (err ... wait a second -what's in my purse is "stuff" ... what's in his case are his "devices" -*rolling my eyes* LOL) he can get all his "devices" into work, and yet plug it in and they're all right next to him but charging!!

He can "carry" it or "roll" it -whatever works best in that particular situation (he has to climb some stairs and bumping it on steps wouldn't be good but it's easy to pick up and carry because the handle collapses.

I just took my first business trip with this bag. The one thing it's missing is what it needs the most: the strap across the back that allows you to slide it over your rolling suitcase's handle so it rests on top of it. How can they design such a useful bag and leave off this simple but necessary feature? It makes it very difficult to travel with. I will use it much less because of this, unfortunately. I may even return it.

I originally bought the powerbag backpack at Costco, but I had way too much to carry and it got super heavy. The powerbag rolling office is a major improvement. I really like the fact that it charges devices plus it is super roomy and smooth rolling. I teach at a trade school, so I have lots of paperwork and tools to carry. No complaints, I would purchase this again!

Want Powerbag Rolling Office Case with Battery for Charging Smartphones, Tablets and eReaders (RFAP-0018 Discount?

The charger for the ipad doesnt work. I guess i should contact the company to complain about this before I really give the entire purchase a low score...

But other than that as a bag it is great. great for travel and storage as it has so many pockets of every size and in varying compartments.

It seems to be of relatively sturdy constructions and the wheels are strong and seem to be able to handle hard services .

The brain behind the placement of the wiring, charging cords is suspect as the obvious Ipad storage area is not where the charger is and so you cannot place your charger in the bag to store and charge at the same time. Just not smart!!!!

Overall the bag is a great idea, very convenient and great for leisure, , work , travel and just basically charging your electronics when other sources are not available.

Mountainsmith Phantom 40 Mountainlight Backpack

Mountainsmith Phantom 40 Mountainlight BackpackTHE GOOD...

Tough nylon, welded zippers, highly water resistant, great organization, excellent padding, awesome ventilation, hydration bladder pocket, deep water bottle side pockets (No dropped bottles while biking!), yellow interior helps you see deep inside the bag in low lighting (Thoughtful!), zipper for main compartment allows you to zip almost to bottom (convenient!), exterior compartment pocket perfect for iPad with case, exterior sections great for gym shoes, skates, boxing gear, yoga mat, and (don't laugh) laundry. Very flexible carry options, and looks good.

THE BAD...

Suspension system designed for maximum airflow/breath-ability but pushes load pretty far away from your back. Not good. You want heavy loads as close to your spine as possible to stay balanced and prevent injury. (Think about holding a milk carton to your chest for 5 mins vs straight out in front of you for 5 mins...) The hip padding makes up for this somewhat, but in my opinion for loads upwards of 30 lbs just take out the wire-frame and the bag will straighten a bit making the load feel lighter.

THE UGLY...

This bag is comfy up to 30lbs for me. Great weekend stuffer for clothes, personal items, electronic gadgets --excellent suitcase replacement. Not for super heavy loads or week-long excursions into the wild. Suspension system leaves more to be desired. Not for someone with lower back problems. For under $100 a good buy, and as a 20-30lb combo day pack+gym bag (Def!) or decent weekender. Haven't used this in hot weather but may give in more stars in 90F+...

Peace+Love,

Brooklyn, NY

Ok I probably didn't need a pack this big yet. But I'm 6'5 and so one with a long frame seemed a good idea. Plus, I'm in Texas right now and the open back allowing air through is just great.

What it could benefit from is more organization in the interior pockets. It just needs a few smaller open pockets and zippers inside to put it over the top.

Otherwise everything else has been well thought out. This is definitely a full weekender if not for longer hikes.

Too large for a day trip.

I ordered this smurfalicious smurfette backpack for my daughter last week. I was excited to get it for her since in the stores i have not been able to find anything for her of the girl smurf "smurfette". I just got it in the mail today and was very disappointed because they sent me the smurfs backpack with the boy smurf on it the "have a smurfy day" backpack. They misrepresented the backpack. I was shown and told i was ordering the girl backpack with smurffette on it. This is very disappointing since i ordered this backpack for a Christmas gift and i do not have enough time to return for a exchange. When I order and pay for a product, I expect to get the EXACT product that i have ordered. I Will not order from this company again.

Swiss Gear SA1176 Black Backpack

Swiss Gear SA1176 Black BackpackBackpack empty is really light and expands for all kinds of sized objects. I can carry my netbook, laptop, or leftovers from my lunch without any issues. Pockets for keys and easy to reach objects were intuitively designed and placed for easy reach. Color really attractive with the grey/black. Very happy with my purchase.

Personally, the first time I received this bookbag, there's a hole in the upper left hand corner. So I returned it and got a replacement. After checking over the details of the bag meticulously, I was relieved that there's no apparent problem with the worksmanship of the second bag.

The bag itself has three compartments: 2 in the front and 1 large compartment in the middle. The padding in the back is very comfortable but I noticed after 1 day of use the threads of the padding starts to stick up and look un-new.

The main compartment can fit one 1-inch binder, and around 4 books, in addition two pencil cases. There's two side pockets on each side, which you could probably put your umbrellas, water bottles, etc.

The actual product actually looks better (in my opinion, at least) when you see it. The cement gray isn't as distinct as it is online, and consequently the gray makes the bookbag not as dull, but not strange in the least.

Buy Swiss Gear SA1176 Black Backpack Now

Attractive in the grey/black, and resonably well made, considering the price I got it for. As noted in the description, this isn't specifically made for laptops (no internal sleeve), but it can certainly hold one.

Two cons....the bottom of the backpack isn't padded, and the padding in the shoulder straps sounds crunchy, so they may wear out over time.

Happy with what I got it for, but had I paid more, it would probably be a 3 star review.

First, I was surprised by how fast Amazon shipped the item. I received this package 2 days after ordering it. I was very sceptical with the size of the backpack thinking it was going to be too small. The backpack is big. Lots of things you can put in. It looks real good in black and grey with the red emblem at the top. The material feels strong. Overall, this backpack is worth the money.

Bought this to replace a Swiss Gear pack in use for three years. Not because it needs replacing, but because I would be lost without one. Great sturdy pack whether carrying Laptop and books or two gallons of milk, and a few extras.

Just keeps on a trucking. I ride buses so this is a great size and usefulness.

Knomo Avignon 15 Inch Slim Laptop Bag

Knomo Avignon 15 Inch Slim 24-204-BRZ Laptop Bag,Khaki,One SizeI just received the Knomo Avignon 15 Inch Slim Laptop Bag for use as a slim "laptop sleeve" for a gift I am giving a friend. The bag is fine quality, maybe a little less than what I would have expected for the cost, but it still looks stylish and is a good alternative to the tacky neoprene laptop sleeves most department stores sell.

However, it doesn't actually fit a regular 15" laptop, even though it specifically states 'fits most laptops sized 15" to 15.6"'. The laptop I purchased has measurements of 15" x 10" x 1.25" (W x H x D). The product specifications state that it is 11.25" high by 15.5" wide, but apparently these are the external measurements. Why they would advertise the dimensions on the outside doesn't really make sense to me, since it is the space on the inside which is the critical factor. Through some pushing and pulling, my 15" laptop fits snuggle in the case, but then sticks about a quarter-inch about the lip, preventing the top zipper from closing. The bag appears to be designed for a MacBook Pro 15" model (0.71" thick), and not for a normal PC laptop. Perhaps the "Slim" should have made me pause before ordering the product, but there is also an "Ultra-Slim" model, and not a "Normal", so I figured that "Slim" was part of the fashion statement, and not that the bag wouldn't accept a regular laptop or Ultrabook.

Perhaps three-stars is too generous for a product which can't fulfill it's purpose, but it does appear to be a good quality product, and had the laptop been just a a half-inch taller and wider, it would have fulfilled its purpose perfectly. As it is, I will need to return the product and search elsewhere.

The laptop pocket fits my airbook perfectly ( I dont know if it would fit anything else quiet as neatly) The straps and back are super comfortable I use it while riding my bike and even when its full I never feel weighted down. I really like the closure of the bag which is great for these NYC streets especially on the subway. You worry with a regular sipper but with the drawstring and flap your bag is secure.

High Sierra Evolution 28-Inch Wheeled Upright Suitcase

High Sierra Evolution 28' Upright Lava/Charcoal/AshI bought the 28" and 22" High Sierra suitcases. After one trip, the stitching on the 28" suitcase started unraveling. The suitcase was not over-packed (30 lbs. total weight according to the airline scale), so there was no undue stress. The "cheap" suitcase that I also used did not show any signs of wear (26 lbs. total weight). Same trip, same handling. The inside clothing hold-down straps were difficult to adjust tight enough to prevent content shifting. The wheels do roll good and the corners seemed durable against abrasion, and it is lightweight. The warranty is somewhat useless--sending the product back for their determination of whether or not it was their fault in the product failure is laughable. I had it repaired at a shoe shop for less than the cost of shipping the suitcase.

This luggage is not good quality and looked like we had owned it for 10 years after one trip. The only positive is that it is bright in color and easily recognizable at the luggage claim.

Buy High Sierra Evolution 28-Inch Wheeled Upright Suitcase Now

Your first thought will be, these are so light, how will they ever hold up. These literally weigh less than half the weight of the bags they're replacing.

We actually purchased a couple of these bags. Mine is green and my wife's is red. We've used them for one cross country airplane trip and they did very well. The red seemed to soil a little more than the green but that could have just been something it came in contact with.

The only thing I don't like about the design is there's really no way to secure the zipper closures. At one location mine came off the belt with underwear hanging out. What I think happened was TSA didn't bother to fully close everything after inspection (yes, it was inspected). But it really wouldn't take much for the zipper to catch on something and end up partially open.

Other than that, the're great. Even if you don't take the bag all the way to maximum weight, why lug around extra weight that you don't need?

I liked the 22" so much I went and bought the 28". It's sturdy luggage and incredibly light weight. It's the lightest I have found which is great on well basically any flight outside the US. Plus I waited long enough to catch it at a great price on Amazon!

Victorinox Luggage Architecture 3.0 Big Ben With Security Fast Pass Backpack

Victorinox Luggage Architecture 3.0 Big Ben With Security Fast Pass Backpack, Black, One SizePros:

More than sufficient storage (pockets & so forth), fits securely over luggage handles for easy airport maneuvering, security fast pass does as advertised, bag tracking system (aka SwissTracker for lost luggage, not tested, included in sale price) is a great idea.

Cons:

No major issues.

Other Thoughts:

-Main compartment seems poorly equipped to store a change of clothing (which I always carry in my carry-on).

-Do not expect a bunch of peripherals (extra storage for non-business items, pockets with no specific function, gimmicks, etc.) this is a lean, mean, professional traveler machine.

-Security FastPass works best in high volume airports (where the security staff knows what it is): you will still have to remove your electronic devices if the security staff fails to recognize the innovation.

Backpacks are a funky design piece. Too big and you're breaking your back. Cut them too thin and you've got a man purse. I had a Big Ben Monopole and it didn't work out well for me. While I liked the rollers, it was too hard to steer.

This bag is one of the first I've come across specifically for the mobile laptop carrying professional. It is easy to load up with too much of your crap, but overall is quite elegant.

The best feature: TSA compartment that isn't bulky and LOCKABLE. I've seen laptops stolen while in line at the airport, just sitting in a bin while the unfortunate owners are getting felt up by TSA Security. I've personally had 2 laptops stolen and when locked you definitely want zippers like these which can't be broken into. Victorinox has excellent theft proof zippers.

The Big Ben has a lot of compartments sealed by zippers. To be honest, it is more storage than any of the other bags out there. I'd compare it in space to the Executive 15. The problem: I'm anal retentive, fidgeting in the airport and opening and closing compartments all the time right before boarding. I feel like I have zipper OCD, like the bag belongs at NASA and is like a series of mission critical airlocks. So for me, the magnetic pouch in the front is perfect for the thing I use most: my pen!

The storage is pretty nice, although I'll be honest, I've had my stuff spill out of it while at home and in the hotel. So despite all those NASA-grade zippers, you still end up with your bag's contents all over the floor. Not cool. One major reason I dislike the bag is that the pockets are based on the Architecture Series, instead of the Professional Werks collection. I wish Victorinox would send me an updated bag, for all of the bags I've purchased through them in the past few years!

I find there's enough for my Lenovo W530, which is just over 6lb. It has a fairly large 170W power supply, which does seem to fit OK. I can definitely fit my iPad, Kindle, a few magazines, a rain jacket in here, as well as a small notebook.

One of the main reasons I like the Professional Werks is that it has excellent built-in storage. Not so here, so I use a cable bag from Waterfield Designs. The plus of the Werks collection is that they're standardized no matter which bag you use, you'll always have your pockets in exactly the same spot! With a cable bag, I don't have to memorize where I put things, or more importantly have to relearn how to pack.

As for the laptop protection, I wish Victorinox would start padding the TSA pouch with a bit of foam and neoprene. Seriously, it would be great to think of it as a sleeve. To be honest, I've seen my laptop corners dinged up and cracked on all of their bags. And yes, I am known for beating the crap out my stuff. I guess that's why I bought a bag that is damn expensive in first place (i.e. not a throw away).

As for carrying the bag around the office, I find some narrow hallways and elevators I end up walking into people. I'm a bit of a clutz and with 15lb on my back I'm like a bull in a china shop. I'd say the bag has slightly TOO MUCH storage where you can easily overload it if you want to.

The straps are pretty comfortable. And the bag fits well on my shoulders. I pulled one of them a few years ago and it is important if I'm carrying a heavy bag that my shoulder injury isn't aggravated. I like there's padding on the back, which also can slide over my wheeled roller (an Avolve 22).

One thing I liked from my climbing backpack is that between the shoulder straps there's another strap to bridge the weight between the two. I found this feature lacking and would have been nice when fully loaded and walking around new cities, as I occasionally do when mixing business with pleasure.

Perhaps the thing I like most is the mesh pouch. That's where I hide my drugs, I mean my plastic bag with the TSA 3-1-1. I need something that is easy to access in 3 seconds and this works well.

Probably a bit frustrating is that I haven't found a dedicated pouch just for my iPhone, charger, wallet, phone, headphones (Shure) and keys. That's what I use all the time and like I referred to before, it is a pain to open all those NASA-grade zippers to get your crap right before boarding a plane.

Overall, I highly recommend the bag. For a revision, make a bag with easier pockets management, better laptop padding and slightly smaller so I'm not tempted to overload. Definitely take into account the design of the Professional Werks collection, I like that series a lot better.

Given the thought into writing the review, and the fact I own several Victorinox, it would be awesome to acknowledge their customers with access to new products or some kind of loyalty program. I think their Swiss Tracking is a neat feature that I like a lot!

13 inch Red Sparrow Purple Flowers Notebook Laptop Sleeve Bag Carrying Case for most of MacBook Ace

13 inch Red Sparrow Purple Flowers Notebook Laptop Sleeve Bag Carrying Case for most of MacBook Acer ASUS Dell HP Sony ToshibaI bought this case after losing my previous one, and am impressed. I use a 13.3" Toshiba laptop, and it fits perfectly there is no "extra" space, but the snug fit makes me confident that my laptop is well protected. The design is gorgeous, which makes me happy to have it. The zipper actually worried me in the beginning, as I have a bad history with "zippered" products, but it moves easily and appears to be sturdy. Nice padding, too (don't drop the laptop, but it should protect against the occasional dangers in backpacks). I am a college student and this was exactly what I needed.

I must warn you, this case smells in the beginning. I stood it up over an open canister of Baking Soda over a weekend and the smell went away, thus making it nothing to worry about.

Pros: pretty, perfect size, snug fit, will protect laptop

Cons: smells at the beginning, zipper basically only on long side

This is a really neat case, and it works perfectly. The title was the reason I picked this case because I love purple, and sparrows are my favorite bird. However, when it arrived and I looked at it up close, I found out that it was a swallow and not a sparrow. I still love the case, and I would recommend it, but could you please change the description so that it accurately reflects the case?

I got the smaller ones because I am planning on using one of the other ones on my key chain (don't know what I'm going to do with the 3rd one yet!). Activation was pretty easy. I put in my information, tested it with the QR reader on my phone and it took me straight to a website that showed my information and my message. I also went to the website directly (in case somebody without a smartphone finds it) and it worked great too! Just a word of caution. If you buy the IDENTICAL set all the tags will say the same thing. In this case I labeled the tags "My Luggage" so if a person were to find my keys and scan the code or go to the website it would say "My Luggage". Certainly not a big deal but it might confuse an otherwise do-gooder. You can change the labels at any time so when I get back from my trip, I'll probably just update it to say "My Property" or something similar. The notification and GPS information is pretty neat too. If somebody scans your tag it'll send you an email with the GPS location of where they are. At the very least you'll know what city your luggage is in.

This set just comes with the 3 tags so if you're planning to use it as a luggage tag you'll need to pick up some sort of chain. I'm gonna use a small dog tag chain I have laying around. It'll of course fit on any type of key chain. The tags seem sturdy. Think of your grocery store club type card.

I use these basically as luggage tags -they are great since you don't have your contact info out in the open, but somebody can still find you if you lose your keys or if your luggage goes missing. Pretty durable too.

I'm using the tags to label my surf, SUP, and windsurf boards. On surf and SUP boards I thread the tag on the hard line connecting the leash the to board. I've had several broken leashes especially on SUP surf gear and these tags will improve the odds of someone finding and returning lost boards.

I got these tags as a gift and didn't expect them to hold up in the sun and surf, but after 3 months there's no visible degradation. Beats using a permanent marker on my gear.

I am learning the hard way that Amazon is not always a good price. I found this item which I think is a great idea, very practical and utilitarian. I like the idea so much that I was planning to buy the larger volume package of stick on tags but having found these keychain tags for $5.00 less in the local electronics store, I'm going to pass on Amazon's offer and watch for them elsewhere.

If I had a dollar for every time I lost my keys, my student loans would be paid off. Thank God for this tough little tag. It's on my keys, and it's NEVER COMING OFF. My information is on the QR code, I can change it whenever I want, and because the tag has a QR code AND a web address, I know that anyone will be able to return my keys to me. Including the customer service lady at Safeway. :) The tag is pretty tough, too, so it will stand up to the rough and tumble of daily life. Highly recommend.

CalPak Bleacher Rolling Backpack

CalPak Bleacher Rolling BackpackI have just received this bag today. When I was looking, it was only offered in purple but it was suitable for what I wanted and a good price. I was specifically interested in a bag that did not exceed l8 inches in height and spent a lot of time looking. This stated that it was l8 x l3 x 8 and, it is true, the bag portion is this size. However, airlines and tour companies count the whole height including the handle and the wheels. This bag is 20 inches high so is not what I wanted as a carry on where the size is specified by the tour company. Its still looks like an excellent bag at a very good price. It is nicer than bags I've paid more for many times. I like having the cover that comes across the wheels and conceals them when I'm carrying it as a backpack. When rolling it I can use this little pocket to store things. Also the handle recesses which I prefer. The wheels are a nice size. Some backpacks have small wheels that don't work as well. The zippers are recessed behind fabric which makes them harder to reach and to unzip. I will still use it a lot but will not be able to use it for what I ordered it for which was to take to Croatia with me as my carry on bag.

I am a bit surprised how cheep this product is. I read some reviews that made it sound like it was an amazing product but what I am experiencing is an uncertanty of how long this product will last. I have to slam my hand down on the handle a few times to get it to collapse, the zippers stick requiring both hands to zip and unzip them, and the construction is full of uncertainty. Every time I use it I wonder if it isn't going to fall apart on me by the end of the day. I gave this product 1 star for room, it has a ton of pockets and ample space for all of my daily needs. A second star was given because it is serving its purpose and a third star was given because it has surprised me that it is still serving its purpose. It would have received a fourth start if it were built better and a fifth star if I were 100 percent satisfied with it.

Love that it came in my favorite color, purple! It rolls easily, no matter what the weather is through snow, too! We did have to replace one screw that came stripped out, but otherwise works great. I've had it about a year, and the drink holder on the outside is showing some wear, where the netting is starting to tear. Not sure what I will do when that part is no longer usable, since I use it all the time. I love being able to roll this around, because there are days when I have more than one class and all the books I need to carry get very heavy.

My daughter loved the rolling backpack. The size is great, however, the handle can't retract all the way after one week of use.

Not impressed with this at all. The handle was assembled so bad that it would not even stay in an upright position. Never used, returned it.

Ivar Pilot

Ivar Pilot, Black, One SizeI am in Medical Sales and the Ivar is my mobile office. The Ivar Pack weight loaded with my gear is around 20 pounds and I typically carry: a laptop; laptop, ipod & hotspot chargers; various brochures and medical equipment. The pack layout is conducive for easy access to a lot of different items and it has shown little wear after extensive use for the past 6 months. The build quality and adjust ability of the Ivar pack are excellent and I am pleased with product. When comparing the Ivar loaded with my gear to the same gear load in my Sierra Pack, the Ivar is about 80% better at distributing the load off of my lower back.

I really like this pack. It has a lot of room and easily holds everything I need for work (laptop, ipad, power cords, files, wallet, supplies, water bottle, sunglasses). The pockets on the front and sides make organizing easy. The difference in weight distribution is noticeable. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the pack seems like it's built primarily for males. The top height of the sternum strap sits too low, I have to tighten the shoulder straps as tight as they can go, and the shoulder straps sit a little wide. Even with those issues, it's still a great backpack!

The IVAR Pilot backpack is a great pack. There isn't another backpack (beyond the other IVAR items) that offers the same ergonomic and organizational value benefits as the IVAR Pilot pack.

After nearly a year of use, the IVAR Pilot is still like-new. Quality wise, it's an incredible pack. Its fabrics are top notch. I've had no problems whatsoever.

The ergonomic (comfort) and organizational factors of the IVAR pack is what I truly appreciate most. All IVAR packs are built with internal shelves that evenly distribute weight. This is seriously a very comfortable backpack. And, I won't argue with the fact that the file-like design keeps me organized!

I highly recommend the IVAR Pilot!

I bought my pack from a different vendor, but after owning an original Ivar, I thought they were pretty good. Not anymore.

The Pilot offers lots of pockets for organizing and storage, but the mesh under the right strap tore away after 2 days use.

Glad I paid less for it, but not glad that I have to pack it up and ship it postage paid to California for 'Evaluation'.

I think I will stick with Jansport next time.

EDIT: See the comments from two users in San Francisco and another review, all posted on the same day within an hour, none with any other Amazon reviews listed, all conveniently from San Francisco (near Ivar's offices), who lambast me and extol the virtues of this product. Also see my response explaining my frustrations with a warranty claim.

Based on the shills here, my review is now one star. I will never again trust this company as they do not appear to be ethical. My pack will be for sale on **ay in a few weeks.

I have had the Pilot for 2 years now and really have decided to toss this one to the side. The corner zippers have been nothing but problems since I first tried it out. The backpack if set on the bottom on the ground will eventually slide down and soon your bag will be on the ground laying flat. Again every zipper is difficult. Now I know why all the other pack manufactures have a curve to the way the zipper opens/closes. These zippers and the squaring concept DO NOT WORK.

Everest Luggage Soft Canvas Backpack

Everest Luggage Canvas Backpack Black, Black, One SizeThis is a good quality canvas backpack just large enough to hold a standard laptop.

Item description indicates 'meddium', but 'small' would be more appropriate.

I got this backpack for school so I could carry my textbooks to and from class. It carried my stuff well, up to 2-3 heavy books at a time, plus binders. However, the straps always felt awkward on my shoulders with the weight, so I stopped using it for that purpose. Now I use it if I'm going somewhere and need to bring clothing, shoes, and other small things to fit into the zippered pockets. The bag has held up very well and I have had no problems with the zippers or straps breaking or ripping out on me. I don't like using it for books, but don't let that detract you from buying it. It's a great bag, I've had it for a year, and it still looks pretty new. The clip straps on the sides, over the water bottle pouches, are very helpful in securing bottles in place. This bag is great for overnight trips when you need to bring clothes and the like.

I was looking for a smaller backpack that would hold up to lots of environments, heavy use, and general wear and tear. This bag defnitely meets all my needs! In school it held my books, computer, pens, cords and still had room for my lunch! I've carried around art supplies and sheet metal without a problem too. Now I use it when I go on a day trip, or spend the night somewhere, packing clothes and food is a non issue with this bag!

Make sure you look at dimensions though. I measured it out and compared it to my other backpacks before buying so I new what size it should be.

My other backpacks have bottomed out or broken their shoulder straps, but this bag is well constructed and I haven't had to even repair any part of it yet. It still looks very new, even with constant use. And it's comfortable!

I love this backpack and it was perfect for me!

It is just right !!! The size is exactly what I needed . I can fit in my camera , IPad and a bottle of water . If your looking for a simple useful backpack , this a durable , the zippers are in great condition and it is the right size for travelling to carry instead of a handbag .

Nice backpack, medium size. Canvas is lighter weight and compartments not as nice (no hooks for keys or velcro subcompartments) as basic LLBean packs I am used to, but price is better

HOWEVER after only a couple of weeks use, inside seams began fraying, so am downgrading to 2 stars

Osprey Talon 11-Litre Backpack

Osprey Talon 11-Litre BackpackI purchased this pack for very long distance unsupported trail runs. I am new at this distance and and will likely never be a professional. I do not race.

Pros:

* Minimal weight

* Minimal bounce

* Straps don't rub

* Pack doesn't "crawl" up your back as you run (I hate that!)

* Pockets on hips large enough for GPS, Smart phone, or a couple of Clif Bars, yet small enough that they don't abrade the inside of my forearms

* Pockets on shoulder straps fits energy gells, my watch, my old-fashioned flip phone.

* Fits my older Platypus Hoser 3-liter hydration bladder.

* Easy to extract said bladder for refill without emptying contents of the pack.

* Fits enough gear for changing temperatures/altitude/conditions and "essentials" on daylong backcountry trail runs.

* Stretch pockets on side of pack for narrow water bottles (i.e., not Nalgene 1-Liters) perfectly sized and perfectly placed (I can reach them without removing the pack).

Cons:

* Light load compression should be better. The external storage bungee acts as a very limited compression.

* My waist has not yet shrunk to be sufficiently narrower than my ribs to prevent the hip belt from riding up over the bottom of my ribcage. I think, however, that this is more the fault of my slight paunch than that of the pack. If my waist narrows, I shall update this review.

WHY I GOT IT

For shorter distances (6 to 10 miles), I just need water which can be accomplished in a myriad of ways readily available. For longer distances (over 10 miles) I need some source of energy (gels or whatnot), and even for this there are plenty of waistpacks or running vests or hydration whatevers which will hold enough water, and a couple of energy bars and energy gels. However, I plan on running 50+ miles solo and largely without support through unfamiliar backcountry. There are plenty of packs which can be used to walk this distance, but the experience of running in most day packs goes from unpleasant to painful to injurious. These hiking specific packs tend to bind, rub, and bounce horribly when running.

OTHER CHOICES

One solution was to limit what I carry and use a smaller running pack like the Nathan HPL #020. There are others in that genre, but the Nathan seems to be the gold standard for ultra endurance runners. Nathan calls it a "Race vest," and videos of long distance trail runners wearing this abound. I felt, however, that its 275 c.i. cargo capacity was insufficient. I want to carry some "just-in-case" essentials, as weather can change on a day-long run, I might be traversing sufficient altitude as to expect different conditions on top, and if I'm having a slow day or I get a little off course I might find myself on an accidental camp-out.

My choices, then, looked to be limited to a few packs meant primarily for long-distance mountain biking as well as what the industry seems to be terming, "mult-use," "mult-sport," or "adventure racing" hydration packs. Manufacturers of these include Inov-8, Salomon, Camelbak, Gregory, and Osprey, but I didn't find examples of all of these packs in nearby stores to try on. I was, however, able to try on the Osprey Raptor 10, the Osprey Manta 20, and the Gregory Miwok 18, as well as the Osprey Talon 11.

**As a caveat, I did not wear my running gear into the store, nor did I bring a full water bladder to insert into the pack. It's not a bad idea to wear what you will wear and load what you will carry to test the pack out in the store, but even more important is a good store return policy. You can get a feel for the pack in the store, but distance is the real test. I suppose its not illegal to run laps in your local outfitter, but it'll likely be long before mile 15 that the folks in green vests ask you to stop sweating on their samples.

The Raptor and Talon are nearly identical in fit and feel, I found, so the main distinction was how I prefer to organize my gear. The Raptor had stretch hip pockets with no other seal (zipper, velcro, etc...) than the compression of the elastic (the Talon's hip pockets were stretch mesh with zipper closures) and the Raptor did not have the nifty shoulder strap pockets of the Talon. The other differences can easily be identified by an in-store comparison, but those I listed were important to me.

The Manta seemed to fit fine (no bounce, no binding, no rubbing), but is designed (goofily, if you ask me) as a miniature version of a full-featured technical backpacking pack -it even has an "integrated rain cover" -which gave me less apparent room (the specs say the Manta 18 has more room than the Talon 11, but I couldn't find it) and it weighs almost twice the Talon.

The Miwok 18 I found had insufficient support (stiffness) on the back panel. The Ospreys have a structured foam back panel which seemed to reduce pack bounce, and provides a protective barrier between the screwcap of my Platypus Hoser and my ribs. The Miwok has a truly nifty compression system which allows you to easily compress on the go. However, even when I really cinched this down there was a surprising amount of bounce. This is possibly at least partially related to the size. The Miwok 18 is identical to the Gregory Wasatch 12 except in capacity (18 and 12 liters respectively), the latter being the pack which would be more appropriate for my purposes. The Wasatch, however, wasn't in the store and since the Miwok and Wasatch were identical in every other way, I thought I'd still get a good feel. Also, the hip-belt pockets (I find these useful for accessing stuff on the go) on the Gregory, were so wide as to cause my forearms to brush against them while running. I can just imagine how nice my raw, bleeding arms would feel at the end of a 20 miles of that. The tethers of the shoulder straps and hip belt are stretchy and multi-part ("a set of flexible tendons," says Gregory). Though seemingly a major selling-point for Gregory, it did not make a difference in my brief, under-loaded, in-store test.

The winner for me was the Osprey Talon 11. It had the capacity I needed, the weight was not obtrusive, the flop nearly absent, and had both hip-belt pockets and neat little elastic pockets on the shoulder straps. The MSRP is not awful ($89 when I looked), and various colors and sizes can be found on sale for 10 to 15 bucks less. I got mine for $65 bucks, shipping included. I just did a test run of around 7 miles/1300' cumulative elevation gain with a minimal load. The pack performed as I had hoped, up hill and down, over rock and river, ducking branches, and on straight stretches of monotonous tarmac. It stayed put, didn't beat me up, and carried my necessities with plenty of room.

SIZING

I was the victim of some confusion in various online comments (not here, but elsewhere) about the sizing of this pack. The pack comes in two sizes, "S/M" and "M/L". Some comments suggested that the size difference is merely capacity, and if you go to the Osprey website's page for this pack the listing does not suggest otherwise. There is definitely a capacity difference (549 c.i. vs 671 c.i.), but there is also definitely a fit difference. If you go to the Osprey website's page detailing pack sizing (for all their packs), you will see the fit guide. I thought I would get the M/L for extra cargo capacity. The M/L that I ordered was a pack that flopped and rubbed and poked me in the lower back, contrary to the pack I had tried on which had fit so beautifully. I returned it and got the S/M which fit like a dream. Check the Osprey website pack sizing page to make sure you get the right one! This size difference, by the way, is available on the Osprey, whereas it was not available on the Gregory.

I have been using this backpack for everything. This is the perfect combination of style, comfort and function.

1. Daily commute to work. it fit my mac air 13' comfortable inside. I have also have a jacked in my pack to hold the laptop in place.

2. running pack. bound the body perfectly, no shake what so ever.

3. day hiking. I carry a light jacket, 3 litter water bladder, snacks, trekking poles and some small stuff like knifes and headlamp. works very well. highly recommended as a day pack.

I love my day pack. Light weight but strong. It feels like it is not even there. I have a bad back and this pack spreads the weight between my shoulders and hips. Pleanty of storage space, even with the water tank in it. Pleanty of areas to clip on items with c-clips. It looks cool too. Did I mention I love mine and I believe you would love one you bought too.

Used this backpack in the half Geoquest adventure race (160km trek, kayak, tubing, mountain bike over 48 hours). The bag easily fits in all the mandatory race gear (med pack, thermals, gore jacket), food, 3L hydro port (bought separately) and other bits and pieces you'll need for a race. The pockets on the straps are great for bars and gels as are the front pockets on the waist straps which also readily accommodate a compass. I've trained with this bag almost daily and it's been bulletproof. The bag is easily adjustable and have had no back or knee issues with 2hr+, 9kg pack training runs in hilly national park terrain. The reflective material on the back and locations to clip in lights make it an ideal mountain bike bag as well. This pack is an excellent, tough pack for mountain biking and long (12hr+) adventure races.
