The first day I used the backpack the shoulder straps began to rip @ the stitchings. I've been using a Condor Outdoor Sling Pack for 2 years and I decided to get a non-tactical backpack with two straps for going back to school and now I will stay loyal to Condor after this, I'm very disappointed with Voodoo Tactical, don't recommend.great zippers, lots of compartments, durable, you want this is the pack with Voodoo tactical has it figured out. Strawberry Shortcake Lunch Bag Backpack
Big Bear 78
I've taken this pack out on several backpacking trips, and Im not really impressed. The good thing about this pack is the size of the internal compartment. Having a little Bigger size means having more options. At 78 liters you can pack this pretty tight with everything you're going to need for a multi day trip. I was able to pack fairly generously and never felt like i was missing anything. I also like the separate sleeping back access zipper. It made getting to your gear a little easier when it was time to set up camp. The hydration pocket is more than adequate for a 3 liter bladder. Now for the cons. First, the shoulder straps are woefully inadequate for carry more than 30 pounds over anything more than flat terrain. I carried this pack with 50lbs up a 4000 footer and my shoulders paid dearly. The padding is just too thin to support any kind of heavy load. Secondly, I simply could not balance the load. Rock scrambles with an unbalanced load added to the challenge of the climb, and on the descent, the strain on my neck and shoulders was substantial.
The external pockets are definitely lacking. Two side pockets are enough for a few small items, and the mesh pocket in the center of the pack is similar. Don't put anything in there you don't want exposed to the weather. There is also no place to lash down any external gear. The shock cords in the center of the pack can maybe manage small items like sandals or a light jacket, but I wasn't able to use it for much more than that. Also, I would like to have seen some pockets on the waistbelt for a tool, or GPS. There is a front compartment that is a fairly decent size but lack of front access to the main compartment meant having to fish through things if you needed any of your gear mid hike. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a hassle.
For serious backpacking, look elsewhere. For a little more money you can find a far better pack. For lighter uses, it serves the purpose just fine.I took this backpack for a 2 week trip island hopping in the Philippines. Perfect size. I just wish there were 1-2 more pockets, but still much better than a suitcase to take on my trip.I owned the older version and hiked many nights with it. This is the new updated version with a bottom zipper for your sleeping bag and overall better access into the main pocket. I love it when a product stays mostly the same but the manufacturer adds the one or two small touches that you thought were missing from the original! I really liked the old version, and I love the new version!I was looking for a low cost but quality back pack and this is what I got.. I was very impressed with thte quality of the bag and the price, not to mention how much the bag can carry, and as if that wasnt enough the bag is ultra light. definatey got my monies worth.

Timbuk2 OCD Packing Folder (Algae Green/Sorbet Green, Medium)
Works just as expected and is a quality made product as I've come to expect from timbuk2. I fit a hoody and three or four t shirts for quick trips (medium sized)This is a very slim shirt folder, just large enough for 1 pair of pants and 1 button up shirt. If you need to pack more than go with something larger. The construction is top notch and will last a lifetime, both Eagle Creek and Sea to Summit make similar products but I got this because it was the least expensive. Although this does not use ultralite Silnylon, the fabric is semi-rigid which is good for keeping your clothes wrinkle free. The zipped sides will not allow you to 'expand' like other brands with folded sides however the zipped sides give this folder more structure. Overall I'm very happy with it, it will easily slip into a messenger bag laptop sleeve designed for 15" laptops. Color is nice too, different than the standard black.Buy Timbuk2 OCD Packing Folder (Algae Green/Sorbet Green, Medium) Now
Duluth Pack Large Standard Daypack
I bought this book bag for a number of reasons. I wanted a book bag that was made in the US. The only plastic on this book bag are the zippers which everyone has and unavoidable. I am hard on the straps to where they rip off because usually i have too many heavy books. I don't have to worry about the straps no more because of the book bag itself is built so well and sturdy. In fact, I don't see me ever needing to buy another book bag, so it's worth the full price. If you are a college student like me then you'll need the Large Duluth Backpack. I recommend this product to all college and high school students. Would work well for hunting or hiking. When I bought this I hesitated because of the price, but I wanted a quality pack and wanted to buy something made in the US for a change. Wow, am I happy with it. I use it every day, and sometimes I really load it up. it is super high quality. You don't find many things made this well anymore. Quality products are very satisfying when you become accustomed to "throw away" products. THis thing is made to last.Bakugan Battle Brawlers
my son was super excited i could not find this backpack anywhere however it does run small does not carry muchNot a mini backback but not full-size as if you went to Walmart etc. Just right for my kindergarten child. Fits his winter jacket, folder and books with ease. Hasn't torn at all, very durable and fits his body just right. If your kid likes Bakugan, this is the backpack for you! It's light and the material does not pick up much dirt. The two outside pockets are useful for storing tissues, wipes, pencil case, etc. The main compartment is roomy enough for lots of stuff, but not so wide that the child has difficulty carrying it. The only downside is that the main compartment only has a single zipper, not a double, like most other backpacks.Quiksilver Schoolie Laptop Backpack - Marbles
I am very impressed with the Quiksilver backpacks. The reason I got this one was because I had previously gotten their non-laptop styled one for my grandson and the quality was so good that I ordered this one for my son. Both are well constructed, padded and no detail is spared. This one too has an insulated front pouch for lunches, etc. I also like the fact that on the bottom of both is a rubber like material, which will hold up if bag is scuffed on the ground. I was going to pay $15 or so for a non brand department store one, and noticed a loose thread hanging out and looking closer noticed the zipper unaligned, and then, along with thin material that didn't look like it would support much weight, etc., felt like I was throwing the money away on junk. These Quiksilver backpacks are definitely worth every penny of the extra money and look like they will last and hold up a long time, so in the end, these will be cheaper and be more comfortable too at the same time.Lambskin Leather Fanny Pack Waist Bag With Drink Holder & Cell Phone Pouch Black
This really is a great fanny pack...I love it. It certainly does exactly what it says it will. Great little pouch for the Ipod...holds it securely yet leaves plenty of space for the headphone attachment and the drink holder works really well even for tall drinks. And the main compartment should hold cell phones and most other things you would expect to take in a fanny pack. I wouldn't change a thing about it except I cannot adjust the waistband tight enough without it hanging really low on my hips. It is adjustable but will not adjust down small enough for my liking. I can still use it and it works well enough but could not give it 5 stars because of that. I would definitely buy it again and highly recommend it.I love this fanny pack for use at the gym. I can hardly wait to use when I travel to Europe. It has a wonderful place for your water bottle, your cell phone, and your essentials (cash, credit cards, tissue, lipstick, comb).Buy Lambskin Leather Fanny Pack Waist Bag With Drink Holder & Cell Phone Pouch Black Now

Easy everyday carry bag, not as big as i thought it would be but still geat! Great material as well, would recommend for simple bagPTH® Victory Sackpack Bags by Under Armour
I bought this backpack when the free corded sack I got from a charity walk broke and I realized how much I had been using it. I only expected a replacement: a bit of nylon with some cords running through it shaped vaguely into a backpack, but this thing is amazing. The material and design seem insanely sturdy, it looks great, has a bit thicker canvas on the bottom for when you set it down. I'll definitely be ordering a second one. But, the real reason I decided to review was because of the "Foam padded, ua branded drawcords." I read that in the description and couldn't believe they were actually including the type of draw cord as a selling point, but these things really are nice. They are about the thickness of a bic pen (or a bit thicker) and the padding really does work. I hadn't realized how much the shoelace like straps on my other bag had been digging into me until I replaced them. All other things being equal, these cords would still convince me to buy this pack. This bag is the greatest thing ever. I got the Navy blue, white and grey one....it meshes well with my gym clothes. Its durable and it holds a good amount of stuff in it. I'm out in Afghanistan with it and been taking on all the harsh elements and not breaking or tearing. Its a must have bag....I recommend this bag to everyone.

This is a very durable bag and worth the money spent. I was looking for a new drawstring bag, had one I used for gym clothes and it started to tear and fray not to long after use. This bag is made of a very strong material, and has a front zip pocket with mesh pockets inside. The bag is a great size, I currently have 5 books inside that are about the typical size of a hardcover book. The books fit nicely with plenty of room. They fit stacked on top of one another, and there is room on either size and above the books as well. Even with all of the books stacked on top of one another, the outside pocket still has room to fit items inside. There is also a small flap zip pocket on the inside top section of the bag big enough to fix keys, cell phone, or mp3 player, possibly all three together. It looks like a decent size but I haven't had the need to use it yet.
The only downside is the straps are thicker than the cheaper versions of drawstring bags which makes it a little difficult to close. Regardless once you get used to the straps there are no issues. This is a great bag and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
***6/12/13 UPDATE: The bag is still holding strong. The straps are no longer a problem. When I was previously trying to close the bag, I would grab all of the straps in one hand and use the other to push outward on the bag to close, which was very difficult. Instead, grab each side of the straps in each hand and pull the straps outward away from one another, the bag will close very tightly that way.

I bought this bag to replace a larger gym bag that was large enough to use as a airplane carry-on for short / overnight trips; and I'm extremely happy with it so far. It has enough room for me to pack the following things:A full-size/hotel towel, a smaller towel/cloth (2x the size of a large washcloth), socks, boxer-briefs, blue-jeans, leather belt, Polo-Shirt/T-Shirt, wallet, keys, spare-change, iphone, ipod, weightlifting gloves, swim-goggles (wrapped in a second sweat-towel/washcloth), travel size vanity kit, and a pad-lock... and I estimate that I could still fit more items (a pair of shoes or bulkier clothes if you live in a colder climate).
Some extra notes...
I read some reviews, and learned that you could re-tie the back-pack strings internally for a better fit and it worked like a charm for me. You get plenty of slack so it's really up to you how you want it to fit. I can wear it as a backpack, or I can sling it over my shoulder.
I also love how this thing opens and closes. Yank the cords to cinch it shut, and pry it open with your fingers. It's quick and easy, but still feels very secure.
There is an easily-overlooked, zippered pocket lined with soft felt material just inside the lip of the bag interior that looks like it may be suitable for cell phone storage but I just use the front pocket for speed.
My only (very very small) issue is that I like clasp my padlock to the bag straps for easy access (don't want to dig around for it). I haven't found a great place to secure it, but this is a pretty trivial problem considering I could just put it in the front pocket, or find another alternative.I bought this for my son who is in 6th grade. He now uses it as his dailly backpack. It hung a little low on his back, but I was able to knot the strings from the inside of the bag. Now it's perfect.

Saddleback Leather Messenger Bag
I bought this bag on a whim and thank God I did. My previous bag was a real nice Mark Nason messenger bag which was very nice but I was always conscious of where I put it down, will it get dirty, oh my God it might get wet...... etc. But after awhile I got tired of looking out for this expensive bag of which I spent a lot of money on it; it should be looking out for me!! Well this Saddleback bag does it all and it can take anything you dish out to it; like real leather should!! The quality is outstanding. From the stitching to the hardware, you can beat the hell out of it and it can take it. In the couple of months I've owned it, it's gotten rained on, thrown, hit, scratched, punched, straps stretched, dropped numerous times, stepped on, etc.... and I still get compliments on it. It seems the more I torture it, the better looking it gets; like something handmade with impeccable materials should do. It's the last bag I'll ever need because it's become my buddy wherever I go and whatever she's carrying for me, I know it'll be safe. When I'm not satisfied with something, I'm always looking for another to replace it, Not with this bag. It'll probably outlive me, but for now, we're friends for life. Buy this bag and you won't be disappointed. I wish it were cheaper but as the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for". This bag is worth every penny, and now, she's worth even more to me.I got this for my 13" Mac Book Pro [This bag could probably hold 4 of such] It has a fabric lined removal able divider {perhaps for loose papers or folders} and two tiny pockets on either side internally [Cell phone size] There is an outside side pocket but it's open to the elements. The leather is really thick, and ready to be further distressed by many years of use. Oh, and if you're a guy worried bout the whole 'Man Purse' moniker this bag looks like Indiana Jones dug it up from the tomb of a Pony express rider. More of an equestrian ~Tack & Bridle~ feel than anything else. It probably weighs between two and 3 pounds with the removable shoulder strap on.Buy Saddleback Leather Messenger Bag Now
I just got it. It is very well designed seemingly, not by a commercial designer, but by someone who has been out in the field and wanted a particular kind of container for a specific purpose. It is very big and heavy. The ads say, it will last your lifetime, and it looks like it will.
It is more an ourdoorsy bag though, or maybe a student thing. I don't know whether an older person will feel comfortable lugging it in Neiman Marcus. It is attractive in appearance.
Using it as a shoulder bag, you're likely to have a dislocation, but as a backpack, the design is good and the weight is distributed and negligible.
It is worth the price.

I'm not a fan of "fine goods" such as expensive leather goods, designer jeans, fine jewelry, etc. Those things just aren't worth the money, and serve no purpose.Make no mistake about it, this bag is not one of those things. At a price of $350, I was expecting excellence, and Saddleback Leather exceeded my demands.
I'm going to use the line "The picture doesn't do it justice", but I fear that might go ignored. Let me explain.
Firstly, the front securing strap pictured is not the one on the bags, perhaps the picture is outdated. The leather latch is more similar to their big bag models, and rather than a slit in the bad with a couple of rivets, the strap is riveted straight on to the bag (3 rivets), and looks much, much more attractive.
Secondly, the leather in the picture make the bag seem a bit soft and flaccid, while the leather is very thick and rigid. It's much finer than pictured.
Lastly, the top handle is much more attractive than the model shown. It's much more sturdy, and uses metal rings.
Cons:
The sides aren't lined with pigskin either, and much of the stress by the shoulder strap is put onto the stitching at the weakest part of the bag. While it shows no sign of tearing, if something were to not last a lifetime, it would be at this point. While lining the sides with pigskin would limit its ability to collapse, there could be some design changes to make this point more sturdy since its one of the weakest parts of the bag, and holds the most stress.
The bottom could be made rigid with some pigskin to help with durability.
Update (about 3 years later):
-They updated the picture to a more accurate version of my bag
-The stress points I was concerned about are still perfectly intact, despite traveling quite a bit with this bag (and contents with considerable weight)
-The bag has shown minimal wear over time. There are some battle scars, which can be "buffed" out (or hidden) with some baby oil and elbow grease. This bag has no intentions of retiring anytime soon
-I still get compliments; several friends have purchased Saddleback Goods, and I have purchased wallets and other accessoriesVery nice. If you want a bag to last for years, get this one. Impeccable service. Bag arrived very quickly. Seriously recommended and well worth the money.

I grew up out West (Utah) and spent much of my summers camping in the mountains using an external frame pack. Currently I live in South Florida. While camping in South Florida is entirely different than camping out West, I am a Scout master and there is no way I was going to let the boys get away without camping at least once every couple months. Some of the more enthusiastic boys have outgrown car camping so I decided to take them for a weekend backpacking trip. Having left my dependable external frame pack back in Utah years ago, I went on a quest to find a new pack. I really loved my old external frame but decided to try a higher quality internal frame pack.
After a lot of looking I ended up vacillating between an Osprey Kestral, Osprey Atmos, and an Osprey Aether. Ultimately, I purchased the Kestrel 58. Since the weekend backpacking trip was the first time any of the boys had backpacked (our troop does own a handful of Teton 3400 packs), I took a bit more weight than I normally would have--35lbs. Over 2.5 days I did 18 miles through sand. I had absolutely no legitimate problems with the pack. In fact, the pack transferred the weight to my hips so effectively that I had no back discomfort or soreness during or after the trip.
I am not going to bother with what I liked about the pack; rather I am going to explain what I mean by "no legitimate problems with the pack."
* The hip belt pockets were small. This is a nit-picky complaint and since most packs do not even have hip belt pockets, this is not a legitimate complaint.
* I would have liked more pockets in the pack, but by design, internal frame packs have fewer pockets. So again, this is not really a legit complaint since the Kestrel had as many if not more pockets than most external frame packs I have looked at.
* HERE IS THE SEMI LEGIT COMPLAINT the tension straps would loosen up over time. I am not sure if this is a common problem with the pack or is something that may have been caused by the humidity. Regardless, it took mere seconds to adjust the tension while trekking along, and a simple alligator clip will solve the problem (which I am headed out to buy this weekend)
The Kestrel is a great pack, and one that I would recommend. Having grown up an avid hiker, my only regret was not deciding to buy one of the more expensive and advanced packs offered by Osprey--and let's be honest, the Kestrel is not exactly cheap. If I had to do it again, I would probably get the Aether, or maybe even spring for the extremely expensive Argon, which I never even originally considered because of the price.
Look, if you want a great pack and are not someone like me who spent his youth camping and hiking, buy the pack, you will be very very pleased. Heck, the only part of me that is not pleased with the purchase is the part of me that is planning a weeklong backpacking trip in the Grand Tetons in May/June 2013.They said this bag was in perfect condition. And it is! And I got it for like what... $70 less than regular price! It's big enough for sure. I might even have too much spaceI'm back packing through Costa Rica. I guess I'll have room for souvenirs.
