Wish it was a little bit bigger but we had the matching backpack an it was adoral to put my sons stuff in for travels. However, smaller than I would like but absolutely adorable. Good compromise

One wash has left it a bit wrinkled and the applique a bit snagged. Also not quite sure why it is labeled for boys.

DAKINE Factor Backpack - 1200cu in Timber, One Size

I just picked this pack up a few weeks ago and here are my thoughts:

Pros:

+ Durable: This thing is the sturdiest backpack I've ever owned. If you're used to lugging your stuff around with a Jansport, you'll be very pleasantly surprised how nice and thick the material is. I've seen a few people complain about broken zippers, but they seem just fine to me.

+ Comfortable: The 'yoke' style straps are great and well padded. The back also has a very nice semi-rigid material that keeps it flat against your back, rather than bulging when things are packed in it.

+ Well designed: In addition to the previously mentioned rigid back panel, the laptop compartment keeps your laptop suspended above the bottom of the bag. This is an awesome feature, since it'll keep your laptop safe when you carelessly drop your backpack on the ground. The chest strap is also terrific. It's adjustable in two different ways and keeps the bag really tight against your body if you need it. Also, things like the fleece-lined, top glasses pocket are great little additions.

+ Perfect Size: Before ordering this backpack I was kind of stuck between this one and the Campus bag. The campus is a little bigger and since I will sometimes be using it for school I had concerns that I'd be able to fit all my books in the Factor. I definitely made the right choice. I'm a pretty small guy (5'6") and the Factor is ideal. It can easily hold a couple textbooks, a binder, and some other small things, but is still small, streamlined, and stays tight against the body when I'm bike commuting.

+ Cheap!: Seriously, at 25-40 bucks this is an awesome deal. I think I paid almost as much for my crappy Jansports. And I had to replace those every year or two.

+ Stylish: Sexy. What more can I say?

Cons:

Hmmmmm...The only thing I can think of is that it would have been nice if there were a latch to hold the laptop in place on top. Not a huge deal.

AAAAAnd that's my review. This is a terrific product and well worth the money. Unless you're looking for something that can hold 7-days worth of food, traveling supplies and a tent, this bag is exactly the right size.

I have two of those backpacks black and bomber i have 5 Dakine bags in a last 3 years...

Zippers can fail sometimes but nobody is perfect.. LOL

So for that money Dakine is best buy.

Great backpack exactly what I was looking for! 1st off let me say that I primarily will use this backpack for recreation / traveling, not for school, for this use I was looking for something smaller sized, with a laptop compartment and a few organizer compartments. While I label this as a smaller backpack it's really not, its just a normal size, I think you can prob fit a 14in laptop, folder and 2 textbooks (depending on size). It would work well for school depending on your class load but if you carry a bunch of textbooks you may want to go with the 101 (which I also have and plan on using for school). But this is the perfect pack for traveling, it's small, comfortable and has a lot of functionality!

This bag perfectly fits my Acer AOD257. It's cute and stylish and is not overly bulky. It's the traditional neoprene quishy material like so many carry cases out there. However, unlike many cases that are more like a sleeve, this one zips to keep your computer in the bag which is nice. Despite the claim that you can hide the handles, tucking them in makes the bag a little lumpy and funny looking, but they are not so obnoxious that you couldn't just leave them out all the time. (or if you don't need them, cut them off.) Small pouch in front is not terribly roomy but the stretchy nature of the neoprene lets you put in a mouse and AC adapter as long as you don't mind the lumpiness. Product seems to be of adequate quality although the design on the front pouch is a professional iron on decal, so you need to be careful about stretching the fabric under it if you want it to last. I just shove my charger on the left side of the pouch to avoid stretching the decal. Overall this is a nice blend of practicality, simplicity and style.

This bag is very durable, and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. I love the front pockets and the side mesh pockets. It cleans VERY easily! I use it all the time for the beach and the zoo. It is an "upgraded" diaper bag now that I have a toddler. Very comfortable to tote, too.

The only problem is that the stuff you put in the top will squish the items in the bottom...easily resolved by using plastic containers but would have liked a hard divider between the two since I am terrible at over-stuffing bags!

I cycle to work almost every day and needed a way to keep my lunch cool on the journey.

This pack is very well made and the cooler is soft-sided so I am able to fit a large glass Pyrex dish, a Tupperware container for 2 slices of bread and a 750 ml drink bottle in it along with a cold-pack.

There is a handle at the top between the 2 shoulder straps that I didn't even know I needed bu use all the time once I take the pack off.

The cooler bottom is firm so that when you set the pack down it stays upright. A great feature again that I didn't know I needed.

The zippers are smooth running and of a good quality.

One of the best things is that though there is ample room in the cooler and in the 2 other main compartments, the pack is not bulky and looks sleek on my back.

My only complaint is that the shoulder straps are not as comfortable as something you'd find at Mountain Equipment Co-Op, for example but you pay A LOT more for a pack from there.

I recommend this product so highly that this is the first review I've been compelled to write in my 8 years using Amazon.

Bought this to replace a Duluth Trader lunch bag that I have had for years and it just got tired. Tried to purchase the same product but they don't make that mega bag any longer. So decided to try something different with a backpack style unit.

Had to adjust to the limited space that I lost from my old lunch bag. I use the bottom area for lunch and the top for storage of a variety of diffent items like flashlight, digital camera, notepad, tools etc... Found early that I was unable to pack drinks, lunch and an ice pack all in the bottom together. So had to adjust.

Early on one of the zippers on the top section split in two, and not sure why. Guess we will mark that down to quality. I drag this bag everywhere during the work week and is basically hauling everything I need without attaching things to my belt. I guess this wasn't designed for my type of use and getting banged around all day.

Sure if this was used for lite usuage it might be fine. But if you are looking for a durable bag that can be tossed in a truck one moment and then taken inside and pushed around during the day, this isn't for you.

Currently getting a Molle bag and will adapt it to a lunch/work bag. If it works for those guys out in the field protecting our country, I guess it will handle my limited abuse in comparison.

This is a great bag. I play Disc Golf (Frisbee Golf) and honestly there are very few (id any) Disc Golf bags with built in coolers. There is a "Cooler Bag" which u can use as a cooler and then there is a pocket for 1 or 2 discs. My buddies made jokes when I coupled a small cooler to a disc golf bag which I carried for 4 years. I began searching for a cooler bag to replace the one I had been using. I searched and searched for actually months for a bag that would would suit. I found this and when I read about it it seemed great but too big. 10 cans ?! thats awful big. Great news is the bag is smaller in size. Aprrox 24 high, 12 wide and 9 1/2 deep. I also thought what about bottles? will they be too tall? Its all good. The upper portion of the bag holds 10 to 12 Discs, I generally use 9 so I'm good there, The cooler portion will hold a six pack of bottles with a slim ice pack on either side. The cooler top is not flat. It protrudes into the upper compartment (past the zipper line) to allow the bottles to fit no problem. As earlier reviews pointed out a stiff plate right here in the top portion of the cooler will help this bag stand up right. I actually used a small cutting board that happened to fit perfect! Now to keep the cooler stiff. No problem just use opposing ice blocks of the same size on each side to support the still plate and the entire bag becomes self supporting which for a Disc Golfer is super important as I an setting it down over and over again throughout the round. I carry the bag on a shoulder and between holes on longer hikes, I strap it on all the way. Very comfortable. The built in handle is also very good for simple pick ups to move just several feet. Great for golf but I will use this for hiking and beach and lake..........I hope its till around when this one wears out.

Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack- 17.3-Inch (Black/Navy)

I bought this backpack 5 months ago as a replacement for a Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack that I have had for almost 8 years. I bought the original in 2004 for what was then my new Dell Laptop. The original has held up fabulously through all kinds of experiences. It has been on countless flights around the country, through camping trips, three motorcycle accidents, and I use it every single day back and forth to work. In March of this year, I was in a 50 MPH head on motorcycle accident; I rolled over the backpack with my 230 lbs, and the only damage was a broken plastic buckle everything inside was in perfect condition.

The new backpack doesn't fare nearly as well. In 5 months, without any extreme circumstances (no motorcycle accidents, camping, etc.), the fabric inside the backpack has torn in two spots, the waist buckle has broken, and the light duty mesh on the outside front pockets has ripped. This is just from day to day use back and forth to work. The 1680 denier nylon outer skin has done well, which is to be expected. Everything else seems to be of inferior quality.

If the whole backpack were made of the same quality materials as the outer skin, it would be a great bag; it has many great features, it's comfortable, and it is roomy. As it stands, however, I will be looking elsewhere for my laptop backpacks from now on.

I recently bought a replacement plastic buckle for my original bag and have been using it instead of this new one. When it does eventually give up the ghost, I'll most likely look at a Sandpiper or Blackhawk bag that is built sturdier throughout.

My computer is 17.3" and also very thick it is hard to find 17.3" backpacks that are also thick enough. This is a great backpack and it fit the computer perfectly!

my previous bag was a swiss that lasted maybe 4 years. this one seems better made, stiffer. you don't have to fasten the rain cover buts its nice to have. this thing would fit a 19" laptop if you had to, 17" has room leftover. the 2nd compartment though isn't very deep front to back. its more like the laptop compartment, tall wide but not too deep. I wish it was a bit deeper. the bottom back pocket works great for stuff like USB cables, drives and other bits, but I wish it was taller to hold some larger cables.

very well made, should last a long time. had this 4-5 months and it still looks like new despite daily use including bike commuting I do while its nice outside... and even when its not quite nice :)

Ful Playback Backpack

I bought this backpack for college. In the last few months, I've been using it every day for school. It's the perfect backpack for me. Personally, I love bags with lots of extra pockets for things like pens, tissues, ear-buds, and other school things. This one has a good amount of them.

The largest compartment will fit a 14", maybe 15", laptop along with some notebooks. But that would be about it. It isn't a very large compartment and there's no internal laptop sleeve. The smaller of the two big compartments has space for cards, a keyring clip,and other nicknack things you might need during a school day. The small compartment is a good size for your lunch, it'll hold a sandwich, a small bag of chips, and some small snack items easily. it's not insulated though.

The water bottle pocket is a bit small and shallow for my liking. However, it'll still hold a 16oz water bottle or Thermos fairly easily, the elastic is pretty strong.

The backpack is also super light but very durable. I can put my laptop in there and still be able to walk a fair distance. It's also good for trips for food shopping. There's enough space to fit a good amount of food in the biggest compartment. Best of all, it's pretty much waterproof. Walking home from school, I don't really have to worry about my laptop or materials getting wet. I wouldn't throw a bucket of water on it to test it though.

I took this backpack on a family trip to Disney World. It is perfect for something like this plenty of compartments for different sized items, a pocket on the side to hold bottled water. It was easy to keep things organized and easily accessible. Also very sturdy.

Higher Ground 10" Mini-Shuttle 2.1

The product arrived on the 5th day, very well packaged. I always like to mention that when the products don't come directly from Amazon. Also, great price, even with shipping less than other websites. The color is a very rich purpleblue. The case is very well made, the "cool dock" is a great little feature, the netbook sits on 4 1/2" pads and this really does dissipate the heat if you have the netbook on your lap. I like the separate side pocket to keep the power cord available hey, I don't know about you but I have more cords for more tech gadgets so it works for me to keep them together when possible. Inside the case has a sturdy velcro strap which keeps the netbook secure when you are out and about, carrying this cute case. The shoulder strap connects easily and works well. I don't plan on using it, so I'm happy that it was not permanently connected. The case is about 3" deep, so it's not one to slip into your purse as if you were just using a neoprene skin, but it does fit easily into a carry on bag. Great case, would recommend to anyone in any color. I feel it's the best value for the money from all the different cases I reviewed before purchasing this brand.

The main compartment is quite deep and holds everything I need, including 2 changes of clothes, 2 cloth diapers, and a Potette Plus potty seat. Sadly, the top and front pockets are a bit hard to get into when the main compartment is full. It was an ok bag for the price until the bag ripped at the top near the grab handle (which is a handy feature by the way). I'm shopping for a new bag now.

Dakine Small Campus Pack

I was worried the 'small' one wouldn't be large enough when I bought it. Turns out, it is exactly the size I was looking for. It fits a 13" macbook and everything you need to carry around as a theoretical physicist in grad school without looking bulky. The base is not large enough to stay upright without support, so you will have to lean it against something, but I guess that's not unusual for a backpack.

I was looking for a small-ish backpack that would hold my 13" MBP. Because of the small selection of cool backpacks that meet this requirement in my country I opted to buy online (which was arduous) After searching I singled out Dakine as the my preferred brand of choice, and it turned out to be a great one.

Amazon were the only ones which would sell it to me internationally, good quick delivery etc etc

The bag is amazing, low profile, great amount of space, cushioned laptop sleeve. Not to many little unusable spaces; seems like they designed it specifically for me. Its strong, feels good when walking around (although with a laptop and lecture books it can be a bit heavy being denim and all). The straps are sturdy and mummy says that the stitchings all good on them (yay). I got the denim one cos I thought it looked the best but all of them were pretty snazzy, Dakine know how to make nice looking bags.

Two issues with it I stained the demin when i left one of my red biros without a lid in it, now the denims blood stained looking. oh well. Secondly, the laptop sleeve isnt really that well fitting for my small laptop so I put my laptop in one of those padded case thingies before i put it in, unfortunately the case has a zip that catchs on the bags interior material whenever i pull it out, hence some not so nice rips in my new bag. *sigh*

All in all its perfect for me and I can't see anyone have the same problems as I did. Its pretty awesome having a bag no one else at school has because they don't sell them here. Hopefully use it right through college and Uni. If not then id happy buy another one

Deuter Futura 30 SL Backpack

I love this pack!

It is the perfect size for an all day hike or a short overnight trip.

I love all the extra pockets on the side, which are hard to see in the pictures. Helps with organization!

I also really love the ventilation in the back panel. Even if the pack has a lot of weight in it, it feels like you aren't carrying a pack because of how cool it stays. The hydration sleeve holds my 2 liter bladder very well, and even has a velcro strap to hold it in place.

My only complaint about this pack is minor...it doesn't cinch closed all the way in the main pocket. I think this is due to the width of the frame in relation to the size of the pack. It cinches pretty close, and the top pocket covers it so that it isn't exposed. I do feel if I held it upside down and shook it stuff might fall out. Thus, I would not use the while rock climbing upside down. Since this is not something I commonly do, I am ok with it.

Overall I love this pack and much prefer Deuter to Osprey!

I purchased this backpack after looking at many makes and several different sizes. I was very pleased with my pack; it fits well and didn't cause any "rubbing" on the shoulders once I learned to fit it properly. I purchased it to walk "the Camino" across northern Spain. An added mesh pocket on the front would be a nice added feature. I was often asked about the yellow flower as to its meaning, which gave me the opportunity to explain the SL feature for women! I would recommend this pack.

High Sierra Tech Series 59105 Lightning 35 Internal Frame Pack

Makes for a good day pack for a couple out for a day hike. Plenty of room for food, water, First-aid and camera equipment. There is no pouch for a sleeping bag if you are looking for an overnight backpack.

I took this pack on an 8 day trip to Costa Rica and it was perfect. I wanted something that would fit overhead to avoid bag fees, waiting, and lost luggage.

I'm a Rick Steves fan and follow his light packing tips. That said, I took several pairs of pants, many shirts, swimsuits, underwear, and an extra pair of shoes. I also brought back souvenirs. Everything fit! The buckles on the side allow it to tighten or expand a bit. I also packed a small expandable duffel to use as my second "personal item" carry on for bulkier souvenirs. If you were going to a cold climate (bulkier clothes) for the same length of time you might need something a bit bigger.

Our group had some folks with bags two to three times the size of this one. They were HUGE and heavy. I'm very happy I bought this pack. Only improvement I'd make would be a zipper up the side. If something is on the bottom you have to dig it out.

It is meant exactly for what it was meant for, per the company= day hiking!

When I first bought it, I didn't realize how small that it seemed but that's my own fault.

It is not "really" meant for prolonged hikes (2 or more days) but you can probably get away with an overnight trip. The reason why I mention this is because is I have several "minimalist" items and they all fit...except the the sleeping pad and sleeping bag, which I argue are made for backpacking. It will fit a 1 person backpacking tent w/rain fly, 3 days worth of freeze-dried food, large first aid kit, mini stove and backpacking cookware, very few extra clothes...and the top portion can carry wallet, keys, emergency gear, trail mix, gloves, rain poncho, etc;

Including these items, it will not fill a sleeping bag and pad WITH the rain fly. This poses a problem if you want to actually hike for longer than 2 days. You can get compression sacks and stuff your sleeping bag in them, then attach that to the backpack, outside of the rain fly with bungie cords or something...

It will look silly but this backpack can work for more than 2 days if you do this.

Other than that, I have a 75 liter backpack for days longer than 1 day.

This is a good size for a weekend backpacking trip. I got a surprising amount of stuff in it; my big agnes air mat, my summer sleeping bag, my dualist cook set with stove and fuel, a small packable tarp, 1/2 the food for 2 for a weekend, a small pillow, 2 shirts, pair of pants, and a bunch of small stuff like a headlamp, etc. my rei flex lite chair fits perfect in the bottom straps on the outside fo the pack as well. I would not be able to fit a tent however, luckily my boyfriend carries that. 2 things I don't like about this pack; the first is the chest strap, it falls right in the middle of my chest which isn't super comfortable for a female (it does adj, however it does not slide up high enough, not a deal breaker though) and the second is the lack of small pockets in additon the hip belt pockets. There quite a few ways to adj the pack and the load that makes this pack actually quite comfy to wear. I would buy again!

Seattle Sports Co. Aquaknot Dry Bag Backpack

I bought this for wet canyoneering (descending canyons) in Utah.

Pros: Very comfortable, nice looking, and mostly waterproof (easily sufficient for most activities like boating or hiking, but make sure it is tightly rolled if completely submergingI would still use individual dry bags for important things like cameras).

Cons: NOT abrasion resistant (the bottom quickly sprouted several holes after just 30 minutes of scrambling down a boulder filled creek, with the bottom occasionally rubbing). And there goes any waterproofness.

The manufacturer gave ZERO comment or reply when contacted about this and offered suggestions for improvement.

This bag arrived ontime and in good shape. It's bigger than you would think. Considering that its a waterproof bag, the opening of it does not have a waterproof seal. I dont need a totally waterproof bag, but be warned. The bag looks nice and its comfortable.

I got this backpack to use for school because I bike and Ive gotten stuck in the rain and had a few books ruined. Unfortunately, this pack wont even hold a standard size text book comfortably. Ive been using is for about a semester now. The first thing to go was the clasp at the top. It snapped off within a couple weeks. It actually was not even being used at the time. I had set in the seat of the car (a nice and cushy seat, not a hard floor mind you) and the clasp snapped in half when the bag was set down. Like I said, it wont hold my full size books, so I doubt it was due to the weight of the bag on top of the clasp. It was just pretty flimsy. In addition, the edges of the bag have begun to fray. This also began pretty early on. It seems as though the edges do not have a fray-block adhesive. It really does not hold as much as I though it would, which is unfourtunate. It would be ok for an occasional day pack for maybe a change of clothes and a snack but I wouldn't use it for an overnight canoe trip. Like one of the previous commenters, this pack would be good for use at a theme park where you only go a few times a year and that is all the pack is used for. If you plan to use it more than a few times per year it probably wont hold up. If I had the option to buy this pack again, I would not. It does however, keep everything completely dry, even with the broken clasp.

I bought this product to carry a fairly expensive camera plus a few accessories and possibly an extra lens at times. Then with some good organization and folding techniques, can add a set of dry clothes and a few other small dry goods in a way which cradles and cushions the camera. Use it kayaking, hiking in rain, etc. Just recently I was on a moored boat in a bay off the island of Culebrita. We loaded a surfboard with dry goods and swam to shore. The waves were fairly rough there and the Aquaknot fell off. It tumbled in every which direction before I could retrieve it. But very fortunately everything inside stayed completely DRY!
