Manhattan Portage Wallstreeter Messenger Bag
This bag will last forever! I had used it daily for the last 10 years carrying a laptop, notebooks and an insulated lunch bag. The fabric used to make this bag was very tough and it resisted all kinds of stain and daily abuse from the NYC subways and buses. The only thing that did not survive its 10 year journey is the shoulder strap. I replaced it last year because its metal hinges finally gave out after years of heavy lifting.This bag is very comfortable to wear. It can be worn messenger bag style, or like a backpack. There is even a comfortable handle on top to carry it like a suitcase. The inside is very roomy and there is a zipper along the edge that you can unzip to give you twice as much storage. There are plenty of pockets inside and outside the bag to hold misc small items and magazines.
I'm giving this bag 5 stars. Even though I had to replace the shoulder strap, I could not fault the bag nor MP because the original strap lasted almost as long as I had this bag! As of this writing I no longer have this bag because I gave it away to someone who needs it more than I do. I am very impressed with the quality and build of this bag and I will even venture a guess that this bag will last through another 10 years of daily abuse in someone else's hands.
Minuses
The 2 pockets under the flap are smaller and taper in at the bottom. The zippers are all not as "butch" which worries me but only time will tell. I'm glad that the expansion fixture is unchanged it was why I bought the bag 20 years ago and why I bought it again. The webbing underneath the expansion zipper was wider which gave the bag better shape both expanded and un-expanded.
Pluses
The new small pocket at the top of the bag is great for phone or mp3 player. I wish it was lined with a softer fabric. The strap seams stronger and better padded and the plastic clips have been replaced with metal (the plastic clips are the only thing that ever failed on my old version).
I did the inflation calculation and the bag I got in 1989 would be about $160 now which I would pay if it was of the same quality. This bag is about right at $115.

For years I've been using a Tumi bag designed to fit a large laptop as my daily work bag + carry on. It's great for longer trips and provides excellent protection for your laptop, but it's overly bulky/heavy for daily use. I realized I could get by with a smaller bag, but wanted one that would still offer enough pockets and some expandability for travel. After doing quite a bit of research, I settled on this bag. A couple of weeks after purchase, I took it on a trip to the UK and Jerusalem. Upon return, I'm thrilled with the overall quality, storage options, and expandability. This bag not only has an expandable center section, but it also offers multiple zippered pockets on the outside and interior as well as two large snap-closure pockets on the front which will hold a kindle, phone, etc. It also has a secret feature which proved very useful: a zipper pocket on the rear opens to reveal two minimalist straps that transform the messenger bag into a backpack! Very handy under certain conditions. This was not only able to hold all of my carry-on items, but was big enough for two people's things on an overnight trip that included hiking and swimming. It also swallowed a lot of gifts on the return trip without complaint. Zip up the center expander and it returns to a nice daily use messenger bag.Build quality is very good overall. I highly recommend it!
DAKINE Factor Backpack - 1200cu in Timber, One Size
I just picked this pack up a few weeks ago and here are my thoughts:Pros:
+ Durable: This thing is the sturdiest backpack I've ever owned. If you're used to lugging your stuff around with a Jansport, you'll be very pleasantly surprised how nice and thick the material is. I've seen a few people complain about broken zippers, but they seem just fine to me.
+ Comfortable: The 'yoke' style straps are great and well padded. The back also has a very nice semi-rigid material that keeps it flat against your back, rather than bulging when things are packed in it.
+ Well designed: In addition to the previously mentioned rigid back panel, the laptop compartment keeps your laptop suspended above the bottom of the bag. This is an awesome feature, since it'll keep your laptop safe when you carelessly drop your backpack on the ground. The chest strap is also terrific. It's adjustable in two different ways and keeps the bag really tight against your body if you need it. Also, things like the fleece-lined, top glasses pocket are great little additions.
+ Perfect Size: Before ordering this backpack I was kind of stuck between this one and the Campus bag. The campus is a little bigger and since I will sometimes be using it for school I had concerns that I'd be able to fit all my books in the Factor. I definitely made the right choice. I'm a pretty small guy (5'6") and the Factor is ideal. It can easily hold a couple textbooks, a binder, and some other small things, but is still small, streamlined, and stays tight against the body when I'm bike commuting.
+ Cheap!: Seriously, at 25-40 bucks this is an awesome deal. I think I paid almost as much for my crappy Jansports. And I had to replace those every year or two.
+ Stylish: Sexy. What more can I say?
Cons:
Hmmmmm...The only thing I can think of is that it would have been nice if there were a latch to hold the laptop in place on top. Not a huge deal.
AAAAAnd that's my review. This is a terrific product and well worth the money. Unless you're looking for something that can hold 7-days worth of food, traveling supplies and a tent, this bag is exactly the right size.
Zippers can fail sometimes but nobody is perfect.. LOL
So for that money Dakine is best buy.

Great backpack exactly what I was looking for! 1st off let me say that I primarily will use this backpack for recreation / traveling, not for school, for this use I was looking for something smaller sized, with a laptop compartment and a few organizer compartments. While I label this as a smaller backpack it's really not, its just a normal size, I think you can prob fit a 14in laptop, folder and 2 textbooks (depending on size). It would work well for school depending on your class load but if you carry a bunch of textbooks you may want to go with the 101 (which I also have and plan on using for school). Arc'teryx Mistral 16 Shoulder Bag - 976cu in
Arcteryx makes amazing gear and charges accordingly. Needed...well...wanted...a good shoulder bag so I splurged. Carried for a week on recent UK trip as a camera / go bag. My first time with messenger-style bags. A bit sore on the shoulders kept switching sides every day. Of course, I could carry less crap in it, that might help. Really don't think it's a padding issue, just a me issue. Very well constructed, but was surprised by some obvious wear around where the strapping connects to the roll closure. The roll closure is genius! Very well executed. Keeps things nice and secure, but bag interior is very easily accessed. Good 'nuff organization inside and on the exterior front pocket. Pocket on the roll closure will hold a small water bottle reasonably secure...until you open the bag. I think that's my main disappointment. Opening releases the tension on the fabric over the pocket which holds the bottle and out it goes; this happened more than a few times. Side pockets are barely accessible when the bag is closed due to the closure have yet to use them. Cell phone pocket on strap will accept a blackberry if you try, but it's really too small to be convenient. Didn't get to test the weather resistance, but I'm confident it's just fine. Will fit a small notebook. Mineral color is manly enough, but does show the street dirt. Overall, if you like shoulder bags, this is a very solid buy.

Like other reviews, this backpack is very small but the perfect size for my petite 18 month old who weighs almost 20 lbs. I wouldn't want her to have anything bigger anyway. The pack has a clip that goes across the chest to keep little ones from taking it off. I can fit in her sippy cup, 3 pacifiers, and a couple of small snacks. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is because I wish it had a way to 'store' the leash on the outside of the pack when not using it (or maybe make it retractable?). It's inconvenient to have to detach it anytime you don't want to use the leash and let your child still carry the backpack. It is a great little backpack and harness, with an emphasis on little! It is much smaller than I thought it might be, but it is still a decent size. Not much will fit in the backpack itself, but it words great as a harness. The chest strap will detach, so that is great for when my daughter wants to use it as a backpack later on. She is small for her age, so it fits her perfectly!There was 1 other review about the waist strap not fitting, but if you read the description, it is designed for the strap to be higher up, not around the waist, so it doesn't need to be as big as others. I personally love that it's not going to go digging into her sensitive tummy when she's trying to get away from me! It puts most of the pressure higher up so it gets better distributed with her shoulders. The front strap easily moves up and down on the backpack straps, so you can put it wherever you need to to get a good fit on your child.
Overall, seems to be a great product! My daughter keeps asking to use her ladybug! :-)
SOC Gear GTH III Patrol Pack
Despite the fact that a product review on this pack is non-existent and that there is not a single rating, I decided to take a gamble at the product based on Sandpiper of California's reputation in the military community. I would first like to start off by saying, WOW! As a an owner and regular user of various assault packs ranging from Propper's Arcteryx USMC ILBE's to Eagle Industries MAP packs, the GTH III is a great pack for it's price. With just a little over $100 on the price tag, Sandpiper of California incorporated double-stitched MOLLE webbing, military-grade ITW Nexus Fastex buckles, Licensed Crye Multicam fabric and pattern, and internal organization pocket slots. Double-stitched molle is placed on the front of the pack, sides, and underneath to further expand the load bearing capabilities by adding modular pouches and other MOLLE attachments of sorts. The GTH III also incorporates a dedicated, padded laptop/tablet pouch that can be secured by a single strap and buckle (Very secure, I would not have any worries stuffing a $800 iPad 2 or a 15' laptop for daily carry). And before I forget to mention, the backing is also lined with some kind of polymer that keeps it from losing shape when the pack is overstuffed, making for a more comfortable carry for it's user. There is also a dedicated slot within the backpack for hydration packs, and such. Offering 1,800 cubic inches of storage, you can sustain yourself for a few good days on a trip, but you won't have a problem with it fitting in the overhead compartment on most medium sized airliners. On top of all of this, there is also a Velcro mounting strip on the front for ID and IFF use. Personally, I love the pack for it's simplicity, look, and functionality all for such a cheap price. This pack is following me to Tennessee, Washington D.C., overseas to Paris and Rome, and then through the military over the course of 2012. If I find any issues with the pack, this review will be altered then! Which I won't be expecting to do anytime soon. Great pack, you won't regret your purchase!Pros: PLENTY of room.

I have used this changing mat EVERY day since my son was born until he was out of diapers and it's worth every penny!PROS:
1. Easy to wipe down, coated and slick on both sides so you can actually wash the entire thing, not just certain parts as in other changing mats.
2. Separate pockets for the wipes and the diapers, each one sticking out from the top half of the pad when you open it. Of course, with 2 pockets you can use them for whatever suits your needs.
3. The clip holding the entire thing together gives enough length that you can really stuff many diapers and full package of wipes in there, roll it up, and still click it shut. You'll have a big roll, of course, but this is perfect for travel when you want everything in one place.
4. Multiple patterns give you lots of options for fun!
5. Comes with a small, thin wipe holder to use if you'd like. I simply stuck my own wipe package in there so it would hold more on the go.
6. Long enough that a child can rest with their entire bodies on the pad without touching anything in a dirty bathroom. My son was 2 when he was toilet trained and his feet stuck out a bit on the end but by that point it wasn't a concern as he could hold his own legs up in the air and knew not to touch anything.
7. Handle on the top once it's rolled up lets you grab it and stash it easily in and out of your diaper back or under your stroller.
8. Very durable. Not a single rip, tear, break, scratch after 2 years and I'm planning on using it again with my second child.
CONS:
1. The 2 pockets attached to the side MAY flop down on top of you baby if they are propped up against a wall or heavily filled but this is not a concern usually as diapers don't weigh much and the pocket will flop down on the baby's mid-section, far enough away from the diaper area so no risk of getting soiled while you are changing.
2. The clip that holds the entire thing together when rolled up lies directly underneath your baby's torso when it's open. Just be sure to swing it off to the side so your baby's back isn't resting on the clip. There is a padded mat between your baby and the clip but it will leave a little bump which MAY be uncomfortable. My son never complained about it or squirmed indicating he was uncomfortable.
OVERALL:
** WORTH EVERY PENNY and you will definitely get the most use out of this item over any in your arsenal of new baby supplies!

Our baby is 10 months old and though I've had this kit since she was born I just started using it recently, and I've discovered it is really a fantastic item, especially for travel. Great to keep at your feet or in back pocket of seat on plane, we used it for changes at the hotel in the room, when going down to breakfast, or down to the pool. It's nice to have something handy not as bulky as a diaper bag with just the essentials. The pad is nice because unlike the pad that came with our diaper bag, you can easily wipe this one clean. Plus it looks cute, was great for bringing to the wedding we attended and out to restaurants. The North Face Pre-Hab Pack - Men's
Got this pack for my 17" macbook pro. It's a bit loose so I use a neoprene sleeve as well. The side pocket zip is awesome access for the laptop. The main pocket could use a little more organization, but I suppose that wouldn't make it a "rucksack" as much. The lack of padding in the straps I think is beneficial in that you don't have to worry about the padding wearing thin or become lopsided because of overuse from heavy loads, like being fully packed with the weight of a 17" computer, ipad, cables, adapters and other things. The ether grey/red combo is just as pictured, very nice looking. I was just a little surprised about the gray on the top cover--it looks like a dark grey denim print more than solid, but not a major fashion complaint. It is a bit more of a manly touch.

Used and Kept one of these years ago when I left the Marines, but it was borrowed and never returned so I was back to using an old Alice pack. As it was "used" I merely was going to swap this to get my original Assault Pack back, but even in pre-issued condition it's in better shape than my old one (so I'm keeping it). Strong materials, well-stitched, hydration system compatible, more molle versatility/compatibility, the list goes on and on---always thought this pack was the best size and feature combination for me.

Medium Backpack - Disney - Minnie Mouse - Pink Flowers
This is slightly larger than a regular 16" backpack, this is not a medium sized (14"). I bought it for my tiny 4 yr old that goes to Pre-K but needs a big enough backpack to put her full sized school folders in. It's hard to find "medium" sized backpacks but they do exist! I compared this one to my older daughter's 16" backpack and this one was bigger... so disappointing. On the plus side, it has plenty of room and is pictured exact... nice bright colors.

This pack is great, but not perfect. There are a few things I would change: 1. make the top slightly tapered; it's very boxy; 2. make the logo a bit more discrete; it's way too showy 3. make the bottle holder a bit more snug. My coffee thermos came shooting out when just bending over to pick something up off the ground.
All in all, I still really like this bag.

A great purse that can go where a regular purse can go, but also acts a durable receptacle for just about any object. Cleans great with just a wet cloth. Is designed so contents seem to organize themselves. Love the contours of the purse and the way it fits my body. I cannot say enough good things about this bag. It's sturdy construction leads me to believe it will last forever standing up to any task I put it to it. The magnetic snaps are very strong and keep the large flap secure. The light color of the interior makes it easy to access what you need from the deep bottom of the bag.

I would give this bag 5 stars in a heartbeat were it not for one feature; the shoulder strap slides off the shoulder. It is made out of a slippery material that will not stay on one shoulder. It is beyond annoying. The only way to carry this bag is cross body. If you are comfortable with that buy this bag! It is a perfect size, not too big, not too small. The design is superb, the outside pocket is easily accessible, and large enough for a Kindle and cell phone. The fold over flap on the opposite side of the purse has an organizer in it should you decide to load it like a wallet. There is a soft fleecy lined sleeve designed for cell phones, I use it for my glasses. This flap is secure with a magnet and so stays closed and is easy to access. The center portion has a zippered inside pouch for valuables, my large wallet fits nicely. The center compartment is open to the top, but the curved design of the bag and straps being attached on opposite sides keeps it nice an closed. An almost perfect design! Ideal for travel. Love this color combination.
