Arc'teryx Cierzo 35 Daypack

Arc'teryx Cierzo 35 BackpackDon't buy this if you think you are buying an all purpose day pack. There is very little structure to the pack and it works best with lightweight stuff and fully packed. It folds up tightly and works great as summit pack or to carry as an extra pack to separate gear while going for water etc. Like all Arcteryx gear it is extremely well made.

Condor Compact Assault Pack

Condor Compact Assault PackThis pack is not meant to contend with high-adventure backpacking packs or major deployment packs. It's a value-focused, 24to 72-hour pack. However, it's built well. Notably, it appears to have quality zippers, which is one of the primary points of failure on packs/bags. The pack expands quite a bit more than I expected, and once I loosened all the compression straps I found I had plenty of room to get all of my gear in it for use as an immediate response bag, which includes a set of ACUs, a few MREs, 2 bottles of water, heavy-duty poncho, and a handful of other [less bulky] support gear (knife, lightsticks, rope, etc.)

If you're looking for something a bit larger than a typical day pack, need something that's more sturdy than what you'd grab at Walmart/Target, and don't need a HUGE pack, I think this will do nicely, and it comes in a variety of colors. However I would not trust my life to this pack (i.e., if you're deploying overseas then I'd recommend a premium-quality bag like 5.11, Blackhawk, etc.)

This IS a great bag for the money and should hold up decently.

As a Paramedic, I needed a lightweight bag that I could easily fit between the seats in the ambulance and still be able to carry items that I need daily (My personal items). This bag coupled with Eagle Creek Quarter Cubes is perfect. I can fit 5 Quarter Cubes in the main compartment w/ room to spare and still have 3 smaller compartments to utilize. Plenty of Molle for expansion too! Great bag, well constructed for the price. The bag will serve me well for quite a while. I've used the bag heavily for about a month now without any problems or wear.

Currently the load out looks like this:

Main compartment:

Quarter cube 1: Electronics(Chargers, cords, ear buds, mini surge protector w/ USB, Solar USB Charger, spare batteries)

Quarter cube 2: Hygiene (Normal stuff: Deodorant, toothbrush and paste, floss picks, Wet wipes, eye glass cleaning cloth, Q-Tips)

Quarter cube 3: Personal first aid kit (Bandaids, Medical Tape, 4x4s, latex gloves, Neosporin, OTC Pain relievers, Imodium, Spare prescription meds, alcohol preps, hand sanitizer)

Quarter cube 4: Cold weather (Gloves, toboggans for both agencies I work for, foil blanket)

Quarter cube 5: Get home survival gear (Purification tablets, lighter, matches, tender, battery operated AM/FM Radio, compass, whistle, thermometer)

Middle Compartment (Office Compartment): iPad, note pad, extra pen, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, office pouch (envelopes, stamps, check book, pen)

Small Front Compartment (Food Pocket): varies... usually 3 Clif Bars, 4 or 5 drink powder packs or instant coffee packs, hard candies, and gum.

Larger front compartment (The "Work supplies" Compartment): Stethoscope, ALS guide, badges and cards for each agency.

Plenty of room still available.

I like the way the pack is set up. The compression straps are convenient. This pack has plenty of room in the separate compartments. The sizing and color of the pack were just what I expected. It was delivered as promised. There are plenty of molle attachment points. They are spaced evenly and seem to be solid. I have the 10x4 water bottle pouch attachment and it fits perfectly on either side of the pack. I plan on getting a second 10x4 to keep my cook kit in.

There are two things that I have had an issue with:

** My only real complaint The shoulder straps are attached by slide buckles at the top for adjust-ability. It took a while to get the right fit dialed in, and that's OK. The problem is that as I am hiking through the woods, the shoulder strap attachment slips. The shoulder strap is not fully padded. So when it slips you have the thin webbing pulling on your shoulder. This takes a while for this to happen. Hopefully after several more short trips, the webbing and buckle 'get trained' to stay in the original comfortable position.

** Minor issue I will sew a key keeper/mitten hook to the inside one of the compartments to keep my keys secured inside the pack.

This bag is very compact it looks bigger in the pictures.

It's quite practical for everyday use...it can hold an Ipad or small laptop, sunglasses, keys, Leatherman tool, a small first aid kit, tissues...but not much more than that.

The back straps are not comfortable, it's the pack's major flaw in my opinion.

The material is good and workmanship OK ( not as good as the Maxpedition or Blackhawk products... )

But for the cheap price I paid, I think it's a good investment.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this product.

I think this bag is great especially compared to a lot of other bags. The price is amazing. I'm a k9 handler. It has room for my camel pack, I place about 6 bottles of water a bag with 6 cups of dog food, some power bars and extra scarf and I still have room. Its not bulky. The arm straps aren't very sturdy, but they work. It can be attacked to body armor with clips as well. Its an overall great day bag for the price. It came very quick as well.

JanSport Instigator

JanSport Instigator Laptop BackpackThe bag is made well and the main storage compartment is very large. The laptop compartment has no padding so I would not trust it with my expensive laptop. Also the insulated sleeve does not really keep anything hot or cold very well. Also I wish the bag had a few more compartments...maybe a smaller one on the front of the bag.

This backpack is great. It holds my books/binders/other things, my lunch, water and a small pocket for everything else. Greatest backpack ever. Plus, it's Jansport, so when something happens to your bag, just send it in and get it fixed. (Multiple times)

Wildkin Fairies Sidekick Backpack

Wildkin Fairies Sidekick BackpackThis is a high-quality durable backpack. I've bought pottery barn kids ones in the past and this is comparable. However, I wanted something different than PBK had to offer (their preschool backpack is teeny tiny!). I am really glad I found Wildkins. It is the perfect size for a preschooler or early elementary (definately through kindergarten). It will easily fit anything standard folder size as well as a lunch box...plus some more! I love that it is black on the bottom, back, and straps. This should definately help it stay clean. I love the many choices of patterns....should have something to please every child! I bought the fairies and the mermaids. The fairies back-ground color is a cross between pink and lavendar.

Our entire experience purchasing this bag has been great. My daughter saw it and immediately fell in love. It arrived on time and was *almost* exactly as we expected--it's not the lavender the picture shows. Actually, it's quite pink! Still it's a great looking, girly backpack. It is the perfect size for her. I could see purchasing one for a preschooler and having it last as long as 1st grade. It seems durable and is much easier to clean than the backpack we replaced with this one.

Nice quality, very cute print, perfect size. I was looking for something larger than the tiny kids backpacks but not as big as a school backpack. This one ended up being the perfect size. It's great for my daughter to take to preschool and will hold a lunchbox as well as a sweater and her papers, etc. The only thing that I would note is the color is more pink than purple.

The North Face Hot Shot

The North Face Hotshot Backpack BlackI received this bag a year ago as a present, and it's still holding up strong. I'm known to load up my bags when I'm running around, and this thing can handle basically anything. I really like that it doesn't look bulky when you put a lot of things in it, and it won't make you think it's going to rip at any minute. As an extreme case, I periodically put my 15lb bowling ball in it when I want to have it with me, and the bag doesn't strain at all. The straps really give that added support that will keep the bag from stretching out of shape. I looked for the same support as this bag in cheaper options, but nothing came close to giving the same back support. You can barely tell when you have something heavy in it.

The Northface just makes QUALITY products. I'm a full time worker/student/bike rider. This thing has it all. Fits my needs and makes me look coolER at the same time. Lol

I'm a full-time college student, so I carry with me a lot of stuff as big books, scholar supplies, notebooks, laptops, cellphone, MP3, tablet and other electronic device. As you may guess, I don't have space in pockets to take all of that, lol. And a simple backpack wouldn't work. So I bought this new backpack. It is great, I like it. All my stuff fit very well. It protects all my stuff of damages and weather.

An amazing thing is that with all my stuff inside, this backpack doesn't look full-like, it doesn't look like a backpack full of a lot of things. It stays normal. In addition, it looks great modern. It is a nice backpack.

It was a great purchase and with a lot of pockets and space. I recommend to buy this backpack.

I bought this bag based on product description and picture. When I received the bag the leather was textured and rough. I thought the bag was going to be a smooth finished leather. I also did not like the appearance of leather. It appeared to me over time the bag would look unprofessional. The interior was spacious and the size was great too. If you don't mind the texture/appearance as described above then I say it's a good deal if you get it on sale. This is my first review of any product. I did it because I was tired of all the feedback that did not mention the obvious facts about the product that would have changed my mind about purchasing. Good luck in your bag search!

Pacsafe Luggage Travelsafe 12l Climbing Pack

Pacsafe Luggage Travelsafe 12L Climbing Pack, Black, One SizeI used this on a recent trip and it worked as advertised. The bag was bigger than I thought it would be. I was able to put in the following items: netbook, ipad, ipod touch, GPS, several jewelry bags (sm), d200 with 80-200 lens and I still had a some room left. It is quite easy to use. Instructions were easy to follow. You are provided 3 keys for the lock. I made sure other members of my family had the additional keys just in case. Easy to carry in luggage. You roll the bag up with the lock and keys inside and an elastic band is provided to keep the package rolled up and transportable.

I got this TravelSafe 12L and the smaller TravelSafe 100 for an upcoming trip. They're both built really well and seem very sturdy. The 12L can hold my 15.4" Toshiba and her 10.1" Acer. I highly recommend this for extra peace of mind.

I have been taking this with me when I travel for the last several months. It works great. It's lightweight and built strong. Given enough equipment and time, it is possible to break into this, but for your everyday thief, it will prevent them from stealing your valuables.

Read Best Reviews of Pacsafe Luggage Travelsafe 12l Climbing Pack Here

Did you know I can break into your luggage by pushing a pen or awl in between your bag's zipper teeth and spread them apart? Just Google OPEN LUGGAGE PEN and watch with astonishment. You will now carry all your valuables, electronics, cameras, traveler's checks, money, etc in your carry on from now on. Do buy this Pacsafe Travelsafe bags (Amazon carries 3 sizss and I have them all) and a sturdy 3-number combination lock (I'm afraid I lose keys). When you are seated in the airplane lock your valuables and safebag to your seat or something. I would not store valuables on my carry on luggage while it is stored overhead as it can get stolen or broken into while you are sleeping or in the lav. I use these Pacsage Travelsafe bags in my hotel rooms (I put money into the bag, lock it, and stuff it into the hotelroom safe), on boats to store my camera and money while scuba diving, and so on. Great insurance. Don't let anybody rip you off!

Want Pacsafe Luggage Travelsafe 12l Climbing Pack Discount?

I traveled for two months in Asia staying in budget guesthouses and this was a lifesaver. It was a huge relief to be able to leave my valuables in the room without worrying about them. The bag easily fit a large netbook, Nikon D90 with 18-200 lens, money belt, external hard drive, phone, and memory cards.

I always found something to attach it to. Sometimes it was a heavy piece of furniture, but in the more basic rooms sometimes I had to attach it to the deadbolt frame on the bathroom door or even the towel rack.

I took one of the keys with me when I left the room in a pocket in my day pack, and left the other well-hidden inside a medication container in my first aid kit in the room in case the key in my day pack was ever lost. This might not be secure enough for some, but since I was staying in reputable guesthouses I was more concerned about an opportunistic thief who would make a quick grab rather than someone with a lot of time to comb through my stuff.

In general, keeping track of the keys was a bit of a pain, so you may want to consider replacing the keyed lock with a combo lock.

When I was traveling between locations I just placed the valuables in my day pack, rolled up the PacSafe, and put it in my main backpack. It didn't take up too much space and looked innocuous rolled up so I didn't think it was in danger of being stolen. You could also pack it flat if you had a suitcase.

By the way, it had gotten dirty on my trip so I washed it in the washing machine in cold water since I was too lazy to hand wash. Don't make that mistake! It damaged the cloth and the steel mesh is showing through in one spot now. Fortunately it's still usable.

Osprey Men's Manta 36 Hydration Pack

Osprey Men's Manta 36 Hydration Pack, Radiant Red, Medium/LargeRecently I was out hiking and a friend asked me how much I thought a good daypack would be. I told him that my dream pack was the Osprey Manta, but I didn't own it yet. When I went online to send him a link, I discovered that they had updated the series for 2013! It's slightly more expensive than the previous model, but I went ahead and bought it anyways. Here are some thoughts.

If you go to Osprey's website, You'll notice that this pack is listed as having lots of improvements over the previous years model. But what are they? There is no major feature that has been listed as having changed. All the pockets are in the same place. It's certainly possible that they adjusted the fit some, but since I didn't own the first pack I couldn't comment. As I looked at the specs, however, it became apparent that there are two huge differences.

The first difference is the size of the bag. The previous model is listed with the M/L size as 30L. In this model the M/L size is 36L. That's 1800 cu. in. for the previous model versus 2197 in the new. The smaller size went from 26L to 34L, a major increase. Though I only checked out the old versions in store, I can say that the main compartment and the electronics pocket both seem quite a bit larger.

The second major difference is the weight of the bag. Even though quite a bit of storage space was gained, the weight of the bag actually went down! The M/L bag in the previous model weight 3 lbs 2 oz, which is quite heavy for a day pack. The 2013 model comes in at 2 lbs 6 oz. More space for less weight? Yes please! I do not know if the weight of the bag is including the hydration system or not. Either way, it's gone down in weight.

The One feature I was the most excited about was the airscape back panel. From the looks of it (and the way it carries empty), you'd think that the actual bag never touches your back. This is not true. The more weight you carry and (more importantly), the more water you put in the 3 liter bladder, the more the bag sits on your back. The hydration system is designed to not fill into the actual space inside your pack (though it does some), but rather into the space in the mesh. Just don't expect that there's a full breeze through there all the time. However, the suspension is exceptionally cool! Even though parts of it do touch your back when full, there are still other parts that don't. Plus, the texture of the panel underneath the mesh has ridges on it, so air flows through very well. It's the coolest pack I've ever used.

The Hydration system is excellent. I've been hiking primarily with the platypus system of various sizes for the last 10 years. Osprey's hydration system is absolutely excellent in comparison (though the platypus is still excellent). I never detected any taste from the plastic. The bite valve has a very strong flow to it and is easy to depress with your teeth. The handle, cap, and molded back to the bladder are all excellent. One cool feature is that there is a track for the hose to run up on the panel so it stays in place. I love that there is a separate pocket for the hydration pack. The only thing to note is that the hose just comes directly out of the zipper, which once opened up some as I hiked. It's really not a problem though. I also love the way it twists back on itself to shut off.

The best feature about the system is the way the hose sits on your body. Three things contribute to this. 1. The hose is the perfect length. No extra hanging about. 2. There are straps for the hose to run through on the shoulder straps. The hose isn't detachable like on my platypus, but it's quite easy to thread in and out. 3. the magnetic sternum strap/bite valve is ingenious!

Pack size. I mostly do day hikes. I own a osprey aether 60 that's about 10 years old, but I'm a pretty light hiker so I'm capable of using a pack like this even for overnights. A few years ago I used a 30L black diamond sidewinder for a 5 day trip. I did it, but it was ready to burst! I filled this pack up with a similar load to see what it felt like. I was able to do it, but it takes a bit more planning. The carrying capacity of this pack is spread out over it's many pockets. As a day pack it's huge and works exactly as planned. If you're going to need to carry large capacity loads for any reason, be aware that you'll need to spread it out to make it fit. Also, when the pack is fully loaded I attempted to slide the water bladder in. It needed a little help, but I got it in with only minor effort.

Other features: This pack has it all. So many things to talk about. My favorite feature (and the most useful IMHO) is one that isn't as flashy. I love the dual side compression straps. My last day pack only had single straps. This feature makes it so nice to tighten down a smaller load and keep the pack balanced and flat.

The hip belt isn't a real load bearing hipbelt that lifts all of the weight off your shoulders, but it is better than many. It might lift a bit more weight but I'm unable to tighten it that much. I'm 6'1 185lbs. I didn't expect it to carry like a overnight pack though. I find it incredibly secure. The hipbelt pockets are nice but they sit back pretty far. I carry snacks for me and chapstick in one of them, and in the other I carry snacks for my dog.

I love that there is a rainfly built in to the bag. It's easy to deploy and has it's own pocket. It's sewn on so it can't be lost (UPDATE: it's actually got velcro if you want to take if off). There a number of other nice outside pockets, including the shove it pocket (which is really just the space between the two main compartments), the front stretch pocket (a good size), and the side stretch pockets. The side stretch pockets are nice but the lower side compression straps do cover them a bit.

Finally, the stow as you go pole straps are a really cool idea. What impressed me so much about them is where the poles end up sitting on your body when stowed. I can walk normally and the poles stay tucked to the inside of my body, away from my arms. It's a neat idea.

It's a dream pack. I love it. If you have any questions post them below and I'll give you an update.

UPDATE May 16, 2013: I've hiked a good number of miles now with this pack. I've also used it as a carry on bag. It's doing great! I wanted to mention that yesterday I managed to not put the cap on the water bladder properly, which caused some leakage. It actually happened twice! It was my error, but learn from my mistake and just make sure that you do indeed check to make sure it isn't leaking BEFORE you put it in your pack.

I purchased this pack mostly for my daily commute to and from work. It's about 10 miles each way, so I needed a pack that had plenty of room for clothes and lunch, but also provided a hydration system, as the ride home is usually pretty hot in the summer. I did quite a bit of research on packs before settling on this one and I'm glad that I did. The 3L hydration system is more than enough for my daily commute, but is also perfect for long mountain bike rides on the weekend. The system is easy to use and I really like the magnetic clip in the mouth valve that keeps it where it should be on the pack. The pack itself is tremendous. There are tons of pockets and it holds an incredible amount of storage. For instance, today I packed it with my tablet, clothes for work, 2 boxes of oatmeal, a bag of walnuts, a tupperware container full of my lunch, a replacement tube, tire wrench, air pressure gage, a big bottle of Listerine,my wallet, cell phone, keys and the full 3L of water. There was still room for a few more items. The pack weighed a little over 19 pounds with all of that on, but actually felt pretty light on my ride in. I love that it has the frame on the back of the pack that allows air to come through your back and not result in the soggy back that you get with most packs. It also was nice not to feel the contents of the pack slamming into your back when you hit rough spots in the road/trail. Is this pack a little pricey? Sure. Do I think that this is a case of you getting what you pay for? Absolutely! I would definitely recommend this pack for someone like me that wants something they can use for their daily commute, but also something they can use on the trails on the weekends.

It has great Space and a lot of ez access storage areas, I love the suspension straps and the mesh back is nice it allows a lot of air between u and ur bag

Tenba ShootoutTM Backpack - Large

Tenba 632-322 Shootout Large BackpackIt's huge. You may want the medium instead. But if you have lots of gear you want up and/or out there, this is the bag. I'm not a pro. I'm a dad. This bag will hold my gear (medium format film w/ 3 prime lenses, filters, tripod, the usual) and my kids stuff, too. It's made very well. I actually bought a used one. After a while the zipper started to malfunction (not close). After notifying Tenba they sent me a new one. Even though they knew I bought it used. They said it was still under warranty. They didn't have to. They believe in making people happy to have Tenba bags... I am. And the new shootouts now have bigger and better YKK zippers. I'm sold on Tenba. From now on, nothing but Tenba.

In agreement with the previous reviewers, this bag is indeed a monster. With full loadout, including 6 lenses, 1 camera body, 2 flashes, tripod, and accessories, this bag weighs in at around 30 pounds. However, the bag distributes the weight comfortably. The system for carrying the tripod is intelligently designed, and the tripod remains secure without limiting access to the bag contents.

I purchased this bag so that I could carry my telephoto as well as my shorter lenses, along with both my flashes and the tripod. To this end, the bag serves its purpose spectacularly. However, this system is probably a bit to big for a casual day at the park. You want this backpack if you are going out with the intent of being prepared for every circumstance, and need to pack a good variety of lenses and accessories.

Based on my experience with this backpack, I would probably be able to recommend any of the Tenba Shootout line of backpacks or slingbags. The pack seems rugged, well-padded, and the weather-seal zippers are a very nice touch. Optional access to the interior of the backpack through the two side pockets seems well thought-out. Again, even fully loaded, the bag is surprisingly comfortable to wear. This is a testament to the ample padding, broad shoulder straps, and easy-to-use adjustment straps.

Big, bulky, but cant be better. This underprice back pack can hold everything and more. Nice materials, well done. Perfect and very rational design. I recomend this tenba to any professional (to much for amateurs...) outhere.

This is a serious photo backpack. I am currently toting an 11-18mm, 18-55mm, 55-200mm and 200-500mm lenses, a NIKON D90 body, assorted filters, heavy tripod and ball head, battery charger, assorted cables, SD cards, a couple of camera manuals, camera and lens cleaning gear and other small photographers "junk". I still have room for a couple of medium size lenses and two or three speedlights.

This is a comfortable photo backpack. The harness system is well padded and secure, rock hopping on the Snake River or Bruneau canyon rims is MUCH less stressful for me when wearing this pack. The harness system conceals behind a zippered panel when not needed.

All in all a well thought out and well executed design. For sure has MY thumbs up.

First off... Big Bag. Be aware that this is close to the max limit the airlines will allow. I will be flying in 3 weeks and taking this with me along with my tripod attached. I'll report back with any problems.

After all I could do to research all the other bag options I opted for this one, Instead of the Think Tank Street Walker.

I found that it was

-slightly wider for bigger cameras or cameras with battery grips.

-had more storage including large side pockets and internal storage

-water tight zippers and heavy water resistant materials

-rain coat and a cover to close off the shoulder and waist straps.

I'm a big fan of Osprey bags and this was a good match. I can't attest to it's longterm wear but will get back later on that. The materials are solid and the seams are firm. Internal and external materials are great. Inside is soft and thick with cushion and the exterior is rigid and tight.

Shoulder straps/waste belt aren't as comfortable as an Osprey bag but Osprey puts a lot of R&D into those. Still, the bag is very well balanced and comfortable. I haven't worn it for an extended time. I will post my findings later.

Update 10-4-12:

Went through customs just fine. Fits the size limits with ease! Had to remove the tripod and put it under the seat but no big deal. Bag was about 35lbs with the gear I brought and was comfortable after having to make adjustments to get it to fit. I am 6' and have a longer torso. It's not a perfect fit but after loosening the shoulder straps I got the waist belt to wrap around my hips. Like I said before, not like my hiking packs but great for a few hours.

We got rained on one day and contents stayed dry. I had to put the back down in the sand many times. Just brushed it off and good to go! After a week trip, in and out of the airports, and a few trips around town it still looks new, functions new and is holding up well.

Duluth Pack Large Standard Daypack

Duluth Pack Large Standard Daypack Brown - One SizeI bought this book bag for a number of reasons. I wanted a book bag that was made in the US. The only plastic on this book bag are the zippers which everyone has and unavoidable. I am hard on the straps to where they rip off because usually i have too many heavy books. I don't have to worry about the straps no more because of the book bag itself is built so well and sturdy. In fact, I don't see me ever needing to buy another book bag, so it's worth the full price. If you are a college student like me then you'll need the Large Duluth Backpack. I recommend this product to all college and high school students. Would work well for hunting or hiking.

When I bought this I hesitated because of the price, but I wanted a quality pack and wanted to buy something made in the US for a change. Wow, am I happy with it. I use it every day, and sometimes I really load it up. it is super high quality. You don't find many things made this well anymore. Quality products are very satisfying when you become accustomed to "throw away" products. THis thing is made to last.
