Domke 700-J5C J-5XC Shoulder Bag (Black)

Domke 700-J5C J-5XC Shoulder BagPretty Good

This minimalistic bag is the perfect size for my needs. It fits my Nikon D5100 with 70-300mm zoom attached, a 35mm 1.8 and an 18-55mm (soon to be upgraded to a 16-85mm, which will also fit), plus a Canon S95 point and shoot, filters, memory cards, charger and spare battery. Not much room for anything else, besides a magazine and airline ticket/passport. I don't yet have a an external flash, but I think it might be a very tight to cram an SB900 into the bag along with the other stuff. Anyway, after hours of searching online, this was the one I found that best met my needs, mainly due to its size.

I wanted a bag that is as compact as possible with just enough room for the essentials, while being durable and providing decent protection for my gear. It's small enough to put into a larger backpack when I travel or need to carry more stuff, which allows for maximum flexibility. For me, this is ideal, because if I need to carry more than what this bag can hold, a backpack is much more comfortable. I plan to get the Lowepro CompuDay Photo 250 backpack and slip this Domke bag inside of it as a carry-on bag. Hopefully it'll work out well.

The entire inside of the bag (except for the the top) are lined with a padded fabric that the velcro-edged partitions will stick to, allowing for easy configuration. The front flap that covers the bag is secured by a large strip of velcro, and there's a zipper underneath to open the bag (which I leave unzippered when I'm in picture-taking mode). A second zipper opening at the bottom of the front panel allows for access to lenses or anything else at the bottom of the bag. There are two open pockets on the front panel, but they're fairly shallow (don't know why they didn't just extend the height of the pockets by a couple of inches to the top of the bag). There's also a flat open pocket on the back of the bag that is good for tickets/passport or a folded up newspaper or magazine.

Everything's well made and the quality of the "ballistic" nylon is top notch (though I wouldn't trust it as a bulletproof shield if you're traveling in Afghanistan). The strap appears to be made of heavy duty cotton/canvas webbing with anti-slip strips on the underside. The swivel hooks and plastic fittings are of high quality. I wanted a bag that is low key and doesn't look like a camera bag, and this fits the bill nicely. It looks like a non-descript shoulder bag. Some have complained about the large, red Domke logo on the front. On mine, the logo is dark green and is almost unnoticeable against the black bag. Looks like they've responded to customer suggestions on this. I like the new low-key logo, however it's easily removed, if desired, by picking loose the threads on the logo patch.

I was originally looking for a bag this size, but a little thicker so it could hold a netbook. I wasn't able to find one, but upon receiving this bag, I found the perfect solution the rings (to which the shoulder strap attaches) on my 10" netbook case just happen to line up perfectly with the rings on the Domke bag. I simply placing the netbook bag in back of the Domke, then attach the Domke shoulder strap to the rings on both bags. Works great and it feels as if they were a single unit.

How this bag could be improved:

The strap should have some kind of shoulder pad included. The strap alone, while well made, can get uncomfortable if carrying a full load for awhile. No doubt they're hoping you buy the add-on pad that Domke sells separately, which has mixed reviews. I'm going to look for another pad, instead of having to buy a complete new strap.

Small collapsible pockets on the sides would be good for a water bottle or other small items, though there is a loop on each side, to which a bottle holder can be attached w/ a carabiner. Small pockets on the inside of the top flap would also help.

For the bag's price, I think it's reasonable if some of these things were addressed. If this was done, I'd have given it 5 stars.

OGIO Convoy Bag

Ogio Convoy BackpackI needed a backpack for weekend and vacation travel that could also carry my laptop. I was concerned that the capacity was only 1450 cubic inches, but I liked the design enough to give it a try. I love all the pockets, and my laptop is safe and secure. Most of my gadgets and chargers fit in easily, but as expected not much more. A set a sleepwear and a light change of clothes is about all I can get into it. However that's all I needed and I still love the design, so I'm satisfied, and if needed I'll use a suitcase or another backpack for clothes.

I bought the OGIO Convoy to replace a computer backpack stolen on a trip. The OGIO is a perfect size for travel with pockets for paperwork and tickets, phone, gps, music, and room for a light change of clothes and a shaving kit...and small water bottles on the side. I have a 16 inch XPS-15 laptop that fits easily in the computer sleve.

I picked one of these up for around $25 on sale, it fits my laptop perfectly, and has enough pockets and space to hold everything I take with me. My only issue with this bag is the shoulder straps seem a bit small to me, It doesn't fit loose enough to be comfortable when I am walking around the city.

I use this bag when commuting on my motorcycle, and it is very good for it with the cross strap connecting the two shoulder straps. It helps it stay snug on me and not move around when cornering.

Over all I would recommend this to anyone who needs a cheap laptop backpack, or taking a laptop on a motorcycle.

I've had this bag for less than a month. Less than 1 week after purchase the bag began to tear. I filed for a replacement and am still waiting for it to arrive. Since then the zipper for the largest opening has broken. This thing is the flimsiest, cheapest made backpack I've ever had and the price is ridiculous!

This backpack is great if you have a light load. I bought it for my brother who is in 8th grade and if you have to fit more then 2 books the zipper will break from the weight. I do not suggest this for kids in school. Maybe only for someone carrying a laptop and a notepad.

THE NORTH FACE BOREALIS DAY PACK

THE NORTH FACE BOREALIS DAY PACK - - WHITE / BROWNIE BROWNI got this bag when I graduated from community college and transferred to the state college (go Vikings!) It lasted me 3 years there, plus a year of graduate school until I graduated with my Master's.

I've had this bag for 9 years now (GASP! No WAY it is that long!?) and it still looks almost new! I can't believe how well it has held up. After college, it has gotten fairly regular use as an overnight bag, a weekend camping trip bag, a backpacking day pack on car camping trips, and most recently, to haul my son's toys & toddler paraphernalia when we go on overnight trips.

It worked great in terms of keeping my laptop (ancient iBook G4, oh man. I am a dinosaur.) safe and protected. And, going to school in sunny Portland, Oregon, it's rainproof capabilities were tested and found to be excellent. Stuff would occasionally get slightly damp when exposed to the downpour for extended periods of time, but nothing ever got SOAKED and no puddles. The side mesh pockets can hold a Nalgene.... but, buyer beware, I did snap the elastic cord in one of mine doing this once at school. That summer break I mailed it in to the excellent TNF warranty department who fixed it right up free of charge and I have not had a problem with it since.

I love how much stuff I can cram in this thing. It holds a SHOCKING amount of STUFF. It is a great multitasker the one bag to get the job done. I have other bags now for traveling of course an LL Bean Boat 'n Tote, a Le Sport Sac weekender... but nothing is quite as versatile as this puppy. Or easier to schlep around for airtravel. Can't beat those comfy straps, with the chest & hip straps for additional support to.

If you are looking for a backpack to last you a lifetime, this one is it.

My husband bought this backpack for me as I needed a new laptop bag. I am in grad school and need something to schlepp my laptop around as well as some books, etc without ending up with a sore back. This bag has worked out great. It has a pouch in the back that you laptop slides into, or if you are using it for hiking, you can put a water pouch in here it has the opening to allow the tube to come through. It has pouches for water bottles on either side, a small front pocket, and a middle pocket with an inner divider and little sleeves to tuck credit cards, etc into. One of them is a zip mesh pocket. So there is plenty of little spots to tuck things. The bag holds quite a bit, I can easily fit my laptop, a few notebooks and a few large textbooks in here.

We also use the backpack as a daypack for hiking. It has comfortable straps that go over the shoulders, a chest strap and a waist strap. I've had this backpack for I think 2 years now and use it every single day and it still looks nearly new (a few spots are a big scuffed, but seriously has held up amazingly well). Got to love the north face they make quality stuff.

Bad Boy Gi Backpack

Bad Boy Gi BackpackThis was a Father's Day present for my husband from our kids and he absolutely loves it. We are going to purchase another one for my son to use as a backpack for school.

I had purchased one of these for my husband for Father's Day and my youngest son decided he wanted one as well. For his birthday I purchased one for him and he is currently using it for his school backpack and absolutely loves it.

Thanks to the seller for getting it to me so quickly. I'd definitely order this product again and from the same seller.

Briggs & Riley Verb Glide Backpack

Briggs & Riley Verb Glide Backpack,Black,17x12.5x7 InchI've been using this Briggs & Riley backpack for a number of months now and have no complaints. I use it for my daily commute via public transit and have carried it on business trips as well.

It is very well made and designed. Looks appropriate for a business professional and not a "book bag" for a high school student. It is "classy".

It's not too big and not too small. Very comfortable to wear and it still looks brand new after months of use!

Well worth the price. I doubt if I'll need to replace it for years to come.

So I've been searching for a quality laptop backpack. I own a small business, do some traveling but not a great deal. Primary use will be to and from the office. This looked great so I ordered one. There was much I liked, but the things I didn't were too important to ignore.

First, the good stuff. The bag is beautifully made, great materials and quality construction. It's an elegant bag. If you want a pack that doesn't look like a student's backpack, this is a great choice. It really does look like a fine piece of luggage that just happens to sit on your back. I liked the organization features and the orange interior, as well. It rode reasonably comfortably on my back.

Now, the stuff I didn't like so well. First, I was very disappointed with the slot into which my laptop goes. The way it's designed, the velcro around the top does not cinch the laptop down. I have a 15" Macbook Pro and when the velcro top is fastened, there is about 4-5" of slack between the top of the laptop and the top of the strap when pulled taut. It should clasp lower down the panel than it does to create a snug fit. This is, in my opinion, a poor design. I don't want my laptop bouncing around with every step, and with this pack, it will.

Then, the zippered compartments don't unzip fully enough, so it can make it difficult to find things in the deep recesses of the bag.

I also don't like that I have to put a water bottle inside the bag itself. I'd be more comfortable with that if my laptop was completely enclosed in a separate compartment, but it's not. If the bottle leaks, Houston, we have a problem.

Also, the little feature on the front of the bag, this kind of grommeted compartment that sticks out on the front of the bag? It's made from some weird material that is a combination of stiff and flexible. With my bag, just having it at home and loading and unloading it a few times was enough to bend the top edge of that thing just enough that it was already starting to bug me, and I hadn't even used it yet.

If none of the things that bothered me bother you, you may love the bag. For me, it was just a non-starter. My top requirement is my laptop has to be held very securely, and this just didn't do it. I also felt that the padding on the sides was insufficient. If the bag fell out of an overhead compartment and landed on its side, I was not confident that the computer would not be dented.

I ended up getting a Tom Bihn Brain Bag and it's exactly what I was looking for. But it looks like a backpack. If you want something that looks like it's ready for the boardroom, but is still a backpack, this Briggs bag is a good choice if you can live with the issues above.

I have been very happy with the Verb line from B&R. I also have the Fuse 20" carry on luggage and the Move business laptop case. I love my set much more now that I have the backpack. Even though this bag is the smaller version, you can fit a 15" wide laptop easily and possibly a second smaller laptop. There is lots of room and functional storage. There are dedicated pockets for a backup drive, cell phone, cables, and extra mags/paper files. There is even a dedicated pocket at the bottom of the bag to told your laptop power supply perfectly. Inside there is a zippable pocket to hold change/money so that it doesn't fall out. Padding for the laptop is good, but could have more on the bottom. The key clip comes in very handy while travelling, even to/from the office. There is a zipper at the rear bottom of the bag, so that you can insert the backpack onto your rollable carry on luggage arm handle, so this fits perfect with my Fuse luggage. Quite honestly the best backpack I've ever owned. Construction is great, design is very well thought out. Great job B&R!

Very practical and with lots of space. Price a bit high but I like their warranty.

Will recommend to others.

I have had this backpack for over a year now. I travel a great deal I and needed a functional good looking pack that I could take into a client site. For the most part this fit the bill. However, after a couple of months the B&R badge came off the front. No big deal except it leaves two holes on the front which sort of spoils the look.

The big downside I have found though is the front slide pocket that was obviously designed for your cell phone. A really GREAT idea with one glaring problem, many phones do not fit, worse yet they get stuck. I have a Samsung Galaxy II. In a case it will not fit. With the case off it slips right in, but gets caught when you try to remove it which can be very embarrassing during a meeting. I own another B&R briefcase and my phone fits in there just fine so I am not sure why they made this one so small. It also needs the quick access boarding pass pocket that resides on many of their other bags.

All in all a great bag but these minor little annoyances keep me from giving it the fives stars it deserves. So, B&R, fix the flimsy badge, make the phone pocket a inch bigger and add the boarding pass pocket and you have a PERFECT pack.

Gregory Sequence Daypack

Gregory Sequence Daypack, White/OrangeAll in all, a tough and durable bagpack but the only downside of it is, if only the volume is a bit bigger, it would fit almost about everthing daily items.

CalPak Ranger Laptop Backpack

CalPak Ranger Laptop BackpackThe backpack arrived in a timely manner. It provides protection for the Netbook my son takes to school. It was more roomy that he expected. The multiple zippered areas make it easy to store cords, powersupplies and books, as necessary.

I purchased my CaliforniaPak a few months ago. I liked all the pockets when I first got it. A few weeks in, however, it started to fray on the straps. I was surprised because I have had cheaper backpacks that have lasted longer. Hopefully they will honor their 1-3 year warranty policy because I am sending this back! Maybe my pack is unusual; I certainly hope so.

One other complaint: not enough padding on the bottom to protect a laptop.

AXO 29101-02-000 Red Commuter Backpack

AXO 29101-02-000 Red Commuter BackpackThis is a great deal. It was only $25 when I bought it.

This backpack is pretty spacious. The only thing is that when I put a helmet in it, there is no more room to put anything else in. Can fit plenty as long as you don't carry an extra helmet for someone. Its nice to have a latch to connect straps so they dont slip off. Material isn't too thick but seems durable. This seems to be a great commuter backpack.

I recently bought a new Honda NC700XD motorcycle and needed a way to haul some extra stuff. The front 'trunk' of the bike holds my (lg) HCI modular helmet, or a gallon of milk with a few other goodies, or a six-pack, etc. But sometimes I need to carry more or larger items, so I decided to get a backpack for now, and maybe some actual motorcycle luggage at a later date. Doing some research, I found that there are few backpacks that have the capacity to hold a helmet, and none other than this one that sell for such a low price. The fact that this will hold my helmet is not a big deal for me, but I translated that into "it has lots of room", and I was right.

A big consideration for me was 'is this large enough to hold LP record albums?' since going to used record stores and collecting vinyl is my hobby. Well, I went yesterday and bought three albums which easily fit; there is plenty of room side-to-side and top-to-bottom, but some care must be taken not to bend the albums, especially when putting the backpack on. (Record album covers measure about 12.5 inches square.) Now I find it much more satisfying (and fun, and that is the bottom line) to hop on my bike for album or light grocery shopping rather than cranking up the four wheeled guzzler.

PRO's:

...About the cheapest DECENT backpack you will find.

...Lots of room inside, with no internal spacers or pockets to take up space.

...Has a large zippered main compartment, smaller zippered outside back pocket, and water bottle pockets on each side.

...Padded shoulder straps are comfortable and adjust from petite to very large (I weigh 225 lbs and the straps still have about 6 inches of slack to adjust them larger). The chest strap also has plenty of room for length adjustment and can also be adjusted up or down on the shoulder straps.

...Double stitched for reinforcement at stress points.

...Made of polyester, the inside surface of the material has a rubber-like coating, leading me to believe it will be weatherproof up to a point.

CON's:

...No internal spacers or compartments for computer, phone, etc.

...No padding or other inserts to retain shape when empty, although the main straps and the section that sits against my back are padded.

...No belly strap, might be a con for some. (Has chest strap.)

...Zippers are a little stubborn to open/close and don't appear overly robust.

...Gaudy, with bright colors and large logos (not necessarily a con for motorcyclists who want to be seen by cage drivers, or a youngster who likes the design, but I'm 63 for crisake).

Considering the PRO's, CON's, practicality, and price, I will easily recommend this for moderate duty use.

DAKINE Girl's Wonder Pack

Dakine Wonder Pack - BLACK/CHECKSthis is a really SUPER day-pack! if you're looking for a regular backpack to haul loads of books and your laptop around campus, this is not gonna be your first choiceit definitely won't hold more than a couple of textbooks and a notebook or two, and the only size computer you could fit would be a netbook. I purchased this bag to use as a day-pack in Disney World, and it was the best I could have ever hoped for! I managed to catch it on sale, and really, it holds a lot more than you would think! and the secret sunglass pocket was big enough to hold my phone, camara, ipod AND my shades.

I bought this bag for college, and yes, it's on the smaller side. I can't fit my laptop in it, and I can't fit very many books. HOWEVER.... I made a trip to NYC recently and packed 3 days worth of clothing and toiletries, and had plenty of room for all the stuff I bought also. I was amazed at how much clothing I could fit! So, bottom line, DON'T buy this bag if you need to carry a lot of school stuff, but DO buy this bag if you need a good overnight backpack for a trip!

I was expecting a smaller backpack, but the bigger size was fine. It is normal backpack size, but doesn't hold as much as a normal backpack. I used it to hold things on our anniversary trip to Eureka Springs. I didn't want to bother with a purse because we were doing so much walking. It held everything I needed and it was very comfortable! I would recommend this!

Sumac Brand Macbook Air Mac 13-inch Carrying Case (Green) + SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage Wristband

Sumac Brand Macbook Air Mac 13-inch Carrying Case + SumacLife TM Wisdom Courage WristbandMy wife decided to go on an online shopping spree this past weekend, she bought a couple of cases for her MacBook Air but she's not the type of person to write reviews on products, but since I've gotten great help from reviews that I have read in the past, I decided to review this case as well as other cases I recently bought.

This sleeve has a very simple but beautiful design, it has two zipper heads that you can split when opening the sleeve, it's super thin and perfectly made for the Mac Air.

The extra stiching (across the front and back of the sleeve) gives it a very different look from other cases I've seen before, it also keeps the padding in place, which gives it a strong feel when holding it with the notebook inside.

One thing I notice was that it is advertised as Sumac brand but I noticed that the zipper heads have the "oO" logo on them which makes this sleeve a KroO brand, in my peronal opinion, that makes this case even better since I'm a big follower of the KroO brand (don't beleive me? check my other reviews)

Now the only problem I see that some people will find with this sleeve is that it has no extra compartments, but like I told my wife, one of the reasons why you bought the Mac Air in the first place was because of the thin design, Why bulk it up with an extra thick case full of compartments that you probably wont even use?

(Notice I used the same review for the other black case my wife bought, same case, different color)

The case fits the new Mac Air 13 inch perfectly. The two zippers go most of the way around allowing opening up of the case entirely for easy in and out. The ribbed padding provides sufficient protection for normal usage. The look is very nice. I could not be happier with the product and recommend it highly.

I ordered this case for my 2010 13" macbook air. The case is stiff, clunky, taskes up a lot of room (why have a macbook air if the case takes up as much room as a regular sized laptop), ill fitting (there is way too much room in the case for a macbook air), and not very protective (there is no padding where the zipper is, so the edges of the computer are completely unprotected). Since this case was such a poor fit for the macbook air, I ended up ordering an "Incase" 2010 macbook air case (zipper-less black neoprene sleeve with white fleece inside). I am very happy with the Incase case (I've reviewed that, too).

WB Road Trip Scooby Doo mini backpack - My first adventure small backpack

WB Road Trip Scooby Doo mini backpack - My first adventure small backpackAfter just a few weeks of use the handle at the top tore on one side and isn't usable anymore. It's not that big so nothing heavy ever went into it. He was very upset about it.

This backpack does NOT have padded sholder straps. Meaning the roughly 1 inch nylon you expect to be below the padding to adjust the length of a strap, that stuff makes up the whole length of the sholder straps. However, the picture on the front is adorable, and raised on the backpack which makes it a fun texture for a toddler. Unlike some of the other Scooby backpacks the picture is friendly and positive. All the stitching looks good, though we havn't started using it yet but if you are ordering this for your a toddler in preschool, be aware you're going to have to sew some padding on the straps yourself. An inconvenience, but reasonable when you're paying less than $16 for a Scooby Doo trademark item. And fulfilled by amazon, which means you can expedite the shipping if you need it for the start of school like we did. I'm learning not all sellers offer that to all places. All in all not our first choice, needs a little customizing, but not a bad backpack. And amazon totally saved the day with the expediated shipping when no one else would to Hawaii. I guess money can't buy everything after all, lol.

Rothco Flexipack Molle Tactical Shoulder Bag - Coyote

Rothco Flexipack Molle Tactical Shoulder Bag - CoyoteI bought this for my patrol belt (aka battle belt) which I where when I hike. It has a roomy main pouch with a drawstring closure to keep the contents dry, a zipper closure mid-pocket that is decent size, and an outer open top pocket that is narrow but is also inside the buckled closure. It does come with the shoulder strap in the picture but I've never used it, I just stuffed it in the slit pocket all the way on the back.

It has the MOLLE attachement straps and they are a little difficult but you get a decent attachment to whatever platform you are hooking up to. I was wearing it on my patrol belt over the summer when I went hiking and though it was a little bulkly it carried my Frog Togg poncho, a Datrex package, my binoculars, a Poptart, matches, bug spray, wet ones, etc. Yeah you can stuff this thing. Also I now have it attached to my Fox Advanced Mountaineering Pack. It makes for great external storage so I don't have to dig through my ruck to get frequently used items.

I highly recommend this bag.

it has plenty of room for all of your needs, separate pockets keeps your valuables safe and secure, its easy to carry by strap or conviente hand on top

Not bad for the price and shipping (Go Commando Gear). More than enough room for an EDC item. I also have the UTG multi-functional bag. This bag is slightly less identifiable as the "Look! I carry a gun!" bag. If you need an EDC bag, this is one is great for shorter term (time wise). If you're going to be carrying a bag on a hike, you may be interested in the one I mentioned above, from UTG, since it has more padding and a place to carry a water bottle. Either bag is great to own.

Lambskin Leather Fanny Pack Waist Bag With Drink Holder & Cell Phone Pouch Black

Lambskin Leather Fanny Pack Waist Bag With Drink Holder & Cell Phone Pouch BlackThis really is a great fanny pack...I love it. It certainly does exactly what it says it will. Great little pouch for the Ipod...holds it securely yet leaves plenty of space for the headphone attachment and the drink holder works really well even for tall drinks. And the main compartment should hold cell phones and most other things you would expect to take in a fanny pack. I wouldn't change a thing about it except I cannot adjust the waistband tight enough without it hanging really low on my hips. It is adjustable but will not adjust down small enough for my liking. I can still use it and it works well enough but could not give it 5 stars because of that. I would definitely buy it again and highly recommend it.

I love this fanny pack for use at the gym. I can hardly wait to use when I travel to Europe. It has a wonderful place for your water bottle, your cell phone, and your essentials (cash, credit cards, tissue, lipstick, comb).
