Bought for my son, it lasted about 2 months before the zipper gave out. Spend the extra money and get a better back-pack. My son loves Phineas and Ferb, that's why I got it in the first place. Plus it was only like $20...however the pack is made kind of cheap. It would be ok for toting toys for a trip in the car or for light use...but school books are too heavy and the pack could not handle the weight.

I searched online forever for the right bag. To the point where my wife told me,"just pick a damn bag already!". I'm very glad I chose this bag. Very tough and looks awesome. I work construction and have a big panasonic toughbook that i put into the bigger pouch. the smaller pouch that's supposed to be used for a smaller computer i just keep my clipboard and paperwork in there.Bottom line is yes i would buy this bag again and definitely recommend it.

High Sierra 2502-Cubic Inches Caldwell Daypack
I normally don't spring for anything more expensive than the very cheapest thing I can find. (I'm a "broke" college student.) But I had a similar backpack from High Sierra that lasted me 4 years, and I wanted to find that same kind of quality and durability in my new backpack. This backpack was really cute and quite similar to my previous one, so I ordered it. And I am VERY pleased. It is a large bag, has a cushioned laptop compartment, and many pockets so you can organize if you'd like. I've been using it the last couple weeks, and it's been so durable and comfortable. It sits great on me and makes even my heavier loads of books feel more comfy.The only negative for me is the little handle on the top being a part of the straps. It's really handy for picking up the bag, but for wearing it, the handle digs into the back of my neck just a bit and kinda makes me hunch a little if I'm not thinking about it.
But overall, I would say this is an excellent purchase and an excellent backpack for a college student or any student. I am almost certain to buy another High Sierra backpack when I need another. They've won me over.

Purchased for my son, as we are nearing the end of school season, and wanted to find something durable, stylish, yet manly enough for my son, and will last into the next school season. He is taking great care of this one and mentioned that it is very cool and likes it a lot (he is 14 and in middle school). He gave me a thumbs up, and I am giving this back pack a thumbs up! Good quality. Nice design. Exactly as expected.Shoulder strap is just ok, as some other reviews mentioned, but it really doesn't bother me. There is still decent enough padding, unless you are carrying a 20lb laptop.

I looked at a video for the product that this one was(obviously)modeled after. It appears to be an exact copy of that very,very,very expensive case. The tags and such seem to indicate Texas as the point of manufacture(I would have preferred if it was made in America...lol)I'm not the type to return an item after 99 years anyway, so I went for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed unless you want light weight, in which case I don't think you would be looking at this type of bag anyway. Just think of an image of a cowboy throwing his saddle on the back of his horse. As it is, my 18 year old son thinks this is greater than the nice laptop I got him for college.Basically, if you like what you see in the pictures, you're going to like what you get!

UPDATE:I wanted to know what actually happen when I have only one or two charge lights on (not blinking); is it charging in this case? So today I rigged up some
plug and I connected a power analyzer between the storage battery and the pannel. I placed the solar pannel against the window so I don't have direct sun light.
in this set up, I got two non-blinking charge lights and the power analyzer reported a current of 0.0 to 0.03 Amp entering the storage battery (most of the time,
there is no current at all). So this means that when the charging lights are not blinking even if they are on, there is not much charging going on.
On the other in direct sun light, it is different. In this case, the lights are blinking and I can get something like 0.3 to 0.5 Amp.

I always have the storage battery (one that came with the backpack) plugged into the pannel. I found that even when I am not using the battery to charge anything,
it will drain quickly when it is not being charged in the sun light. For example after being out of the sunlight for 12 hours, I lost one charge light. It went
from 4 charge lights to 3. I do not like the almost-to-nothing documentation that came with this product. It never explain any of this. Why is the battery
drain too quickly when I am not using it?

I finaly get enough summer sun light to test this backpack charging ability. This is what I found. The storage battery's charging lights will only be blinking
sequentialy (indicating that the battery is being charged) when in direct sun light. When not in direct sun light (like near a window), the charging lights are not blinking, but one or sometime two charging lights will be on. What
does this means in this case? Is the battery being charged in this case? I really do not know (the documentation is not clear on this). I assume
that the battery is being charged at low capacity (at least I hope that is the case) and I also assume that
the number of lights that are on indicate the charging capacity.
Also even in direct sun light, the solar panel's output charging current is not as high as the current drawn by the cell phone so when I am charging my Nokia cell
phone while walking or riding my bike in direct sun light, the storage battery will be drain. This means that my cell may not be completely charged and the
storage battery may be completely drained. This is especially true if the storage battery is not fully charged at the start of a charging session. This is disapointing because what is the point if I have to fully charged the storage battery at home before begining a trip. I would like to be able to charge my cell and still have enough excess current to charge the storage battery as well. The longer I use this backpack, the more I am disapointed with its performance.

Well I have been using this backpack for 4 months now and it is ripped in a dozen places. I have had it repaired three time
now. I am not happy! Please do not buy this product. I am lucky I am traveling outside the US where there are many shops
that will repaire my backpack. In the US where there is no such repair shops, this backpack would have been completely useless and I would
have thrown it away after a few months of use. I do not recomend buying this backpack.

Due to the winter I have not be able to test the solar charging feature. But the backpack fabric quality is terrible!
When I ordered this backpack, I picked the charcoal pennel. But I got an email from the seller telling me that they "accidentally"
shipped the silver pennel. They wanted to know if that is OK or I can wait two extra days and they will ship me the charcoal pennel.
I thought it's not a big deal so I say OK, I'll take the silver one.
Well when I got the backpack, it had a small wear near the pennel zipper that made it hard to zip an unzip the pennel pocket. I was not
happy but I did not want to deal with returning and reshipping so I let it go. I know, I can not say for sure that they intentionaly sent me
faulty backpack but I am saying I did get a weird feeling in this case. If my subspicion is correct, I think it is extremely unprofessional of
them.
I had not used the backpack until a month ago when I went on a 200km biking trip. On this trip the backpack fabric torned (ripped) in three places.
All near the front pocket. It was not the threading that got ripped. It was the fabric near the threading area the got ripped) Fortunately, I was traveling in an Asian city where they can repair backpack. Thus I had it repaired and it seems fine.
but I have to be very carefull to not load the backpack too much again.
I owned two other non-solar backpacks and I regularly overloaded ( to a much higher degree than I loaded the solar backpack) them for a year now and it never ripped.
It is winter time so I have not fully test the solar charging feature but where I was biking, there considerable sun light and my cell phone
almost completely drain the battery in the backpack. Thus at this point I don't have much confident in the solar charging feature but I will
wait until summer time to test in full direct sunlight and I will give an update.

Pro: It has adapters for almost everything! nice sturdy panels, plenty pockets and lots of space.Works awesomely under the scorching Panamanian sun, finally getting something back out of all that sweating.
This backpack is light, carrying the battery and all of the extras it has.
You can separate the panels from the bag and put the panels where they can get more sunlight.
Cons: used the bag two times and it already ripped, i took it out just to walk around the city doing errands nothing too extreme and then I realized the second pocket from the panels back, just where the zipper starts, the stitches got loose and now I have like an Inch wide opening between the pocket and the zipper.
My phone(Samsung Galaxy S2) doesn't fit in the phone pocket on the shoulder strap.
TL;DR: Nice features, sturdy panels, lightweight, charges pretty fast under direct sunlight conditions, backpack could be better stitched. I will definitely go with a 2.0 version if it ever comes out.

After a lot of research and comparison, I replaced a Swissgear pack with this Mobile Edge Evo. It is very well made. The only complaint is that I miss having a dedicated laptop zipper and slot for more direct access. What I do like is it is relatively short, which is good for people under 6', but is not narrow, so still has good capacity. It also tapers at the top, bottom, and sides, and fits close to the body, so I find it much less prone to knocking into people and objects when wearing it. The tapered bottom makes it harder to stand upright, but it is a good trade-off for me after my old flat bottom pack that stuck out a foot behind me.

Dakine 11-Litre Shyla Pack
The tag on this bag claims it will carry most 17 inch laptops, but I could just barely squeeze my 15.6 inch (very thin) Zenbook into it and once inside it was very difficult to remove. If the top opening was as wide as the base of the bag, it would have easily fit. The material was also very thin and offered little padding/protection. And somehow it was much larger than expected, which made it even more frustrating that my ultrabook style laptop wouldn't fit!

I have no complaints about my bag as it is, though a handle on the top would be nice in addition to the shoulder strap.It's beautiful, it's durable, Dakine is a very solid brand in my experience. I have three or four different kinds of bags from them.
One front smaller pocket which zips closed for smaller items, about 13" across, 9" tall and 1.25 inches deep. Pretty standard stuff. Lovely dark maroon color inside. I would call the large section of the bag 3" deep, not 2.5.
In the large pocket of the bag there is one bigger area for your stuff, and a padded section for a laptop but NOT a 17" as it says.
I have a 17.3" HP and the bag is nowhere near wide enough to fit it in. If you lay the bag flat you'll see it is 17" at its widest point, but it comes inward slightly at the top. I couldn't fit my friend's 16" easily either. Way too snug.
I decided to keep it and use it for other things, but I will still need to go get yet another item that will fit my laptop.

Well at first when I got it I was worried it wasn't actually gonna fit my 17" macbook pro. I couldn't get it into the bag, but on second try I managed to get it settled into the little compartment and now I sort of love that it's not any bigger. It makes it as small as possible while still being able to carry around my laptop.The one thing I might say I don't like is the fact that the inside is neon green. Other than that I have no negatives to say about it.

I really like this laptop bag. The coloring is brilliant, it's not faded or dull like I had worried it might be, it's really crisp & clear. It's very spacious(sp?)inside just like I had hoped. I really adore this bag & I can't wait to use it with my new laptop. My only concern is there isn't a lot of padding where the laptop goes & I would prefer just a little more padding in that area. I'm sure I can compensate for that somehow but otherwise, I think it's a great product.
Laurex 15.6" Laptop Backpack
I'm a professional adult female who has to carry my powerful laptop around with me for work, and I often have to carry it to various sites within a building during the course of a day. While messenger bags or briefcases may seem fine for traveling professionals, they can be cumbersome to carry or have at your hip. Also, I am buxom, so messenger bags work across the body have a tendency to look a little silly on me, and I find myself wearing them the way one wears a purse. With a backpack, I have my hands free, and I'm not constantly bumping into people with the bag at my hip. Distributing the weight onto my shoulders and back makes it so much lighter.This bag is perfect. The gold design (I got the beige butterfly) is subdued and everything about the bag is well made. It is very, very light and compact, yet holds so much! I carry a water bottle, a full sized legal pad, pens, a camera, my ipod, my kindle, my phone, keys, cords for all the devices listed above, and collapsible headphones in it without it looking stuffed or being too heavy.
I do have a Laurex messenger bag (I got the chocolate and gold) as well, for those times when a bookbag would just not be suitable, but my backpack is my go-to for everyday travel.
My only caveat is that they are not the fastest shippers in the world. I ordered the two bags the same day, and, because of pricing, ordered this from Amazon and the other from a large retailer's (that famous one headquartered in Arkansas with the smiley face logo) online store. They both arrived five days later, which in this day and age seems long.
If you are tempted to get the 17 inch size so you have extra room, don't. This backpack holds my 15.6 Lenovo ideapad perfectly, without it being a tight fit, and with plenty of space. The pictures don't show it well, but it has a nice pocket in the front, behind the clips, and it has another zippered pocket above that, and on the inside, there is another zippered pocket that has slots for ID and cards. The straps are the most comfortable straps imaginable. There is an odd strap meant to connect across the chest, but I don't use it.
It is worth the cost. I've had the standard $30 black laptop backpacks in the past, and they are functional, but not as well made, light, or comfortable as this one. I regularly wear it while walking a mile up and down stairs within a building, and those $30 backpacks would have added much more weight.
I have had it for over a month now, and it hasn't gotten dirty. Rain beads off of it, and dust brushes off easily. (Remember, I have the beige one, and its really more of a cream.)
I get compliments on it all the time.
