Took this on my cruise vacation to carry all of our stuff during our excursions. It held up well and was super light weight. It did get one little hole during the 7 day trip, but I'm not sure that wasn't our fault for catching it on something and in any case, the hole never got bigger or spread open more, so that is a plus. This was definitely a must-have for our trip, and we will get many more trips out of it.Want Outlander Packable Handy Lightweight Travel Backpack Daypack Discount?

The leather is clearly high quality, and the bag is buit very well.
The laptop area is not as padded as other bags are, but this is the compromise you make for style.
My wife has beat this bag up pretty bad and it shows absolutely no signs of ware and tear.

I returned the bag because it is not bigger than the other bag I bought from this company, although a different model that meausred bigger. So I returned it in perfect conditon. I have no fed ex near me so returned it by the USPO. I paid for delivery confirmation and returned the package. Now they have emailed me 3 times saying they have to have a tracking number. All they have to do is open the box and see who it is from. There will be post office confirmation it arrived. They have now emailed me tree times saying I have to have a tracking number. I can't give them a tracking number and they can process this by opening the box and reading the information in side. It seems to me they are trying to avoid giving a refund. Manhattan Portage bags are the best. I've had the Cornell bag by Manhattan Portage for over 10 years and it looks brand new.
Attention Musicians/Flutists: Your flute will fit into this bag perfectly. Usually bags aren't wide enough, but this one is awesomely perfect. This bag is made of stiff and durable material and the inside is lined with waterproof vinyl. This bag will never ever open if fastened correctly. The bag is huge, so you'll never have to worry about running out of room. Ideal for carrying books, supplies, etc. I use it for work and bring my lunch, change of clothes, magazines, and a few art supplies and still have plenty of space to spare. I would highly recommend this bag.

Not really a fan of this bag. It sits very awkwardly on my body, could be because of my particular body shape and also of course because I got it in stiff waterproof vinyl. Though the quality of the bag is very high, I feel like some of the construction is a little off. The outside pocket tends to bunch up and is actually difficult to open up at times. The strap end, when adjusted to be shorter, hangs loose--I had to fold it up and tie with a hairband. Mostly, I just don't like the way it sits across my back--too stiff.Read Best Reviews of Manhattan Portage Medium NY Bike Messenger Bag Here

When I first received this bag, I was angry that the product description doesn't tell you that the flaps all seal with Velcro. I feel the product description should tell you that. The visible buckle is there for looks only. It made the bag seem not worth the value. I almost sent it back (I hate the dirt and fuzz that gets embedded in Velcro, which is why I want to know it's in a product before I buy it), but decided to give the bag a whirl before I did.Now that I've been using this bag for two weeks, I love it. I use it for my 10-minute walk to and from the office, when I don't need to carry a lot of stuff. It handles my 15" MacBook Pro, the power block and the power cord. You can't fit much else in save for a few sheets of paper, but when you use it just to transport the computer it hangs perfectly and you barely even know you're wearing a bag at all. The craftsmanship is great. It's soft, unobtrusive, and doesn't get in the way.
I find this bag is worth the price. The only time I don't use it is when I am travelling, as it's designed for just your computer and plugs and nothing else.

Pros: Nice product for storing laptop accessories and keeping them organized. Has 4 decent size compartments to store items such as a portable external HD, mouse, adapter cords, etc. Because the item is neoprene, it stretches to fit over odd size accessories.Cons: Because the compartments do not close, it's best for bigger items but not for smaller items (such as a flash drive). Those items easily fall out when you unzip the organizer which does not seem like too big of deal but over time becomes annoying.
Overall this a good organizational product and I would recommend it if you want something easy and convenient to store your laptop accessories.

Samsonite Tectonic Large Laptop Backpack
Voltaic 1010 OffGrid Solar Backpack
I wanted to know what actually happen when I have only one or two charge lights on (not blinking); is it charging in this case? So today I rigged up some
plug and I connected a power analyzer between the storage battery and the pannel. I placed the solar pannel against the window so I don't have direct sun light.
in this set up, I got two non-blinking charge lights and the power analyzer reported a current of 0.0 to 0.03 Amp entering the storage battery (most of the time,
there is no current at all). So this means that when the charging lights are not blinking even if they are on, there is not much charging going on.
On the other in direct sun light, it is different. In this case, the lights are blinking and I can get something like 0.3 to 0.5 Amp.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------PREVIOUS UPDATE---------------------------------------------------------------------
I always have the storage battery (one that came with the backpack) plugged into the pannel. I found that even when I am not using the battery to charge anything,
it will drain quickly when it is not being charged in the sun light. For example after being out of the sunlight for 12 hours, I lost one charge light. It went
from 4 charge lights to 3. I do not like the almost-to-nothing documentation that came with this product. It never explain any of this. Why is the battery
drain too quickly when I am not using it?
------------------------------------------------------PREVIOUS UPDATE:----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finaly get enough summer sun light to test this backpack charging ability. This is what I found. The storage battery's charging lights will only be blinking
sequentialy (indicating that the battery is being charged) when in direct sun light. When not in direct sun light (like near a window), the charging lights are not blinking, but one or sometime two charging lights will be on. What
does this means in this case? Is the battery being charged in this case? I really do not know (the documentation is not clear on this). I assume
that the battery is being charged at low capacity (at least I hope that is the case) and I also assume that
the number of lights that are on indicate the charging capacity.
Also even in direct sun light, the solar panel's output charging current is not as high as the current drawn by the cell phone so when I am charging my Nokia cell
phone while walking or riding my bike in direct sun light, the storage battery will be drain. This means that my cell may not be completely charged and the
storage battery may be completely drained. This is especially true if the storage battery is not fully charged at the start of a charging session. This is disapointing because what is the point if I have to fully charged the storage battery at home before begining a trip. I would like to be able to charge my cell and still have enough excess current to charge the storage battery as well. The longer I use this backpack, the more I am disapointed with its performance.
------------------------------------------PREVIOUS UPDATE----------------------------------------
Well I have been using this backpack for 4 months now and it is ripped in a dozen places. I have had it repaired three time
now. I am not happy! Please do not buy this product. I am lucky I am traveling outside the US where there are many shops
that will repaire my backpack. In the US where there is no such repair shops, this backpack would have been completely useless and I would
have thrown it away after a few months of use. I do not recomend buying this backpack.
------------------------------------PREVIOUS UPDATE---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the winter I have not be able to test the solar charging feature. But the backpack fabric quality is terrible!
When I ordered this backpack, I picked the charcoal pennel. But I got an email from the seller telling me that they "accidentally"
shipped the silver pennel. They wanted to know if that is OK or I can wait two extra days and they will ship me the charcoal pennel.
I thought it's not a big deal so I say OK, I'll take the silver one.
Well when I got the backpack, it had a small wear near the pennel zipper that made it hard to zip an unzip the pennel pocket. I was not
happy but I did not want to deal with returning and reshipping so I let it go. I know, I can not say for sure that they intentionaly sent me
faulty backpack but I am saying I did get a weird feeling in this case. If my subspicion is correct, I think it is extremely unprofessional of
them.
I had not used the backpack until a month ago when I went on a 200km biking trip. On this trip the backpack fabric torned (ripped) in three places.
All near the front pocket. It was not the threading that got ripped. It was the fabric near the threading area the got ripped) Fortunately, I was traveling in an Asian city where they can repair backpack. Thus I had it repaired and it seems fine.
but I have to be very carefull to not load the backpack too much again.
I owned two other non-solar backpacks and I regularly overloaded ( to a much higher degree than I loaded the solar backpack) them for a year now and it never ripped.
It is winter time so I have not fully test the solar charging feature but where I was biking, there considerable sun light and my cell phone
almost completely drain the battery in the backpack. Thus at this point I don't have much confident in the solar charging feature but I will
wait until summer time to test in full direct sunlight and I will give an update. Very happy with my purchase! Great quality pack, excellent construction and the solar panels and battery are top quality. my only complaint is it needs more internal space a 15" macbook in neoprene skin only just fits into the rear laptop compartment, and I regularly carry 2 plus other items.

Pro: It has adapters for almost everything! nice sturdy panels, plenty pockets and lots of space.Works awesomely under the scorching Panamanian sun, finally getting something back out of all that sweating.
This backpack is light, carrying the battery and all of the extras it has.
You can separate the panels from the bag and put the panels where they can get more sunlight.
Cons: used the bag two times and it already ripped, i took it out just to walk around the city doing errands nothing too extreme and then I realized the second pocket from the panels back, just where the zipper starts, the stitches got loose and now I have like an Inch wide opening between the pocket and the zipper.
My phone(Samsung Galaxy S2) doesn't fit in the phone pocket on the shoulder strap.
TL;DR: Nice features, sturdy panels, lightweight, charges pretty fast under direct sunlight conditions, backpack could be better stitched. I will definitely go with a 2.0 version if it ever comes out.
Targus C4 Backpack for Laptops up to 16-Inch TSB70903US(Red/Gray)
The design is good and practical -basically an updated but stripped-down version of the CVR600. For example, instead of side pockets that zipper closed, there are net pockets only that are basically good for water bottles and the like. The material is lighter and the padding on the shoulder straps skimpier.
And that brings me to the issue that caused me to go back to the CVR600 after using this backpack for a month and a half. I was getting some very bad shoulder pain -or more precisely, with this bag my shoulder was not recovering from strain I put it under doing something else. In fact, the pain was just getting worse. After switching back to the CVR600, the pain has begun subsiding dramatically.
I am 6'3" and over 250 lbs, so unless you are a similar size I wouldn't worry much. The geometry of how this hangs on my back will probably be very different than yours. But if you are a big guy, this bag *could* mean some physical discomfort as it has in my case.
Recommended if you are smaller than me and like the idea of a nice, lightweight but protective laptop backpack. It's a winning product, just not for me. I have a variety of sizes of laptops from the larger Thinkpad to the smaller HP Elitebook. This backpack fits both of these beautifullytogether or separately. I can also put my Kindle in its case in another pocket, my cell phone, glasses case, and a few books too.
There are places for pencils and even bottled water a smaller bottle. I love the front pocket which makes it easy to access things I need to access quickly on days when I can not carry them in my pockets or coats. The straps are comfortable and don't hurt my shoulders like some of them do.
If you are carrying a huge load of books and supplies to class or other places, this might not be a bag for you. It is primarily for a smaller loads of books and supplies as well as the laptop, ipad or other tablets. This is not for the long day of carrying all of your books with you everywhere, like I have done in the past.
I have brought this with me on quite a few trips and found it really handy, but I only had a few books with me. I have also used it for other things like shopping trips at fiber festivals, and craft fairs too. It was helpful as I needed to have my laptop for later in the day so I could carry it with me, protected and separated from my other stuff.
This is not waterproof, but resistant, so if you have to walk a long way, you might want to put your electronic components and books in plastic bags inside the backpack, just to be extra careful.
All in all, I love this backpack because it is not over-sized and is perfect for those times when I want to carry my laptop and smaller other things, and don't need a large backpack for larger loads. It is handy and well divided for convenience. For larger all day loadsI suggest a larger backpack.

I received this backpack through the Amazon Vine program, and just in time for a cross-Atlantic trip. I don't have an iPad or other tablet, but I do have a laptop that can become a pain to carry, especially once you include the separate mouse, keyboard, and various wires. The backpack has a nice pocket in the main compartment for a laptop, and you can fit some more books or notebooks in the compartment too. The front pocket is where you would store the tablets or wires, and I found it quite useful too. And there is a smaller bottom pocket I haven't used yet.
To be honest, I don't see a lot of functionality that is specific to laptop carrying. There isn't, for example, a dedicated mouse holder or wire hook or whatever. It's a backpack with pockets. But as a backpack, it's quite nice. It's sturdy, comfortable, and generally thin in design, so particularly good for stowing under airplane seats. I expect I will use it quite a bit, for both long-distance travel and everyday use.

This backpack by Targus is an excellent bag for carrying one's personal electronics. Instead of a laptop I had a 10" Android tablet with about the same thickness and weight as a netbook, so I had space a-plenty in the designated laptop sleeve. The extra sleeve in front of the laptop sleeve was perfect for my bluetooth keyboard and a few miscellaneous connectors, and the extra space in that compartment (the farthest back one) was more than enough for a notebook and two books. The middle compartment was useful for storing my anti-glare glasses and a few other extremedies, and I could put away my charging cable in the front compartment with, again, plenty of room to spare. The straps are comfortable and easily adjustable. Not a single complaint about this backpack: I've had others that had too many spaces, or straps that dug into my shoulders. Good job Targus!Microsoft 17-Inch MT Laptop Messenger Bag (Black) (39008)
Also carries your MP3 player and earbuds in the sleeve. Comfortable handles and straps. All seem to be of good quality in stitching and manufacture.
Laptop sleeve is a little awkward for initial fitting, but is nice to have one so snug with little movement of the laptop inside.I recently got this bag for a 17" laptop. The bag itself seems well constructed and easily holds all of the misc items and accessories for my laptop.
Unfortunately, I have one complaint, and it's fairly large, in my opinion. The friction lock on the strap is garbage. The strap itself is fine, and seems to be of reasonable quality. However, it is essentially non-adjustable. The strap will shorten, but as soon as you let the bag weight settle on it, it will slip back to the fully extended length. This is with a 17" laptop and cords, but not much else. The problem (I think) is that the bar in the friction lock is extremely thin and it does not provide enough grab to keep the strap from slipping. The strap itself is fairly long, so this causes the bag to hang very low and somewhat awkwardly.

My use: I bought this hoping madly it would fit my new hpdv7 17.3" laptop it does (yay!) just barely and you have to mess around with the "perfect fit" padding a bit, but the just-barely-fit makes it very secure. I did have to pull out my wireless mouse USB even though it's one of the tiny ones but I feel I could have left it in and just wiggled the thing down. Oodles of pockets mean I can designate one for the USB anyway and not lose it, so I'm fine with that.Space: Space after laptop, I'd say I could fit in a medium thickness notebook in front, a slimmer one behind, plenty of pockets for cell phone, wallet, chapstick, pens, reading book, etc. with my mouse and laptop battery/cord into the pockets. Unless you have flat fans, I don't think a cooling pad would fit in with the larger laptops secure (mine won't).
Construction: There are 4 or so main materials. I like the stuff covering the top handle and shoulder padding it seems functionally tougher. Grey material looks great and looks to last well. The red material looks cheapish on the outside pockets when you open the front flap for pencils, credit cards, slim wallets, change but layered over the padding inside it looks much more durable and much better-built. Side pocket zips open to become a water bottle holder so your convenient pocket doesn't try to snag open every drawer you walk past.
Look: Overall, a very stylish and sturdy bag. I can see the buckle mentioned by a lot of reviewers looks like it will slip with use, but I've had that happen with other bags and it just seems to turn and need turned back after lots of heavy use. Look is quality and nice, unless you leave it lying open with the cheapish-looking red pockets (it's the type of material you'd make a thin lightly water-resistant raincoat out of). The zipper pulls, tags and mp3 player slot again all look quality and styled well.
Time will tell how it holds up to use and abuse, but for now I'm happy to have something functional, stylish, and handy.

Consider me converted.I often take my camera out on my boat during the summer months and needed a case that could withstand the water and moisture on a daily bases. While at my local Camera store I ran across the Nanuk cases. You might wonder why I did not go with Pelican, the answer was simple, I broke my nail trying to latch the case. Really! The case has worked out perfect and the latches are a dream.

I believe this case exceeds its rival Pelican! GREAT price! The whole case is very sturdy and the latches are great! I am using this for camera equipment--a camera body, grip, 3 lenses (including a 70-200mm), and Speedlight. In the 925, if laid out right, you can fit those with plenty of padding. I was lucky to get this on the Black Friday event and paid even less! (LUCKY ME!) I would purchase again though at full price. High recommended!Read Best Reviews of Nanuk 925 Case with Padded Divider (Black) Here
I ran out of room in my Pelican 1510 and I was looking for something to hold my manual focus lenses and other pieces of gear. Pelican cases are expensive and I was looking to do a little better cost wise. I found Nanuk, which I had never heard of before, via the internets. The Nanuk 925 case is similar to Pelican in features, with a few differences: The latches are of a better design, they will probably save your gear if they open somehow during a fall since they have an extra "safety" on them--even if latch pops, the case won't fall open. The handle folds into a locked position which is nice. Plastic seems softer but not sure if it is weaker. This case does NOT have the metal lock reinforcements like my Pelican. The padded dividers have less padding. The overall "outline" of the dividers is just as thick--sides and bottom--but the individual dividers are thinner. The divider system is much more customizable than the Pelican's due to the fact that the entire bottom has velcro and there are more/different sizes of dividers. However, the dividers, while better, are still not perfect. Two of the long ones only have velcro on one side and thus the case is not as customizable as it could be...
I shoot Pentax and I was able to fit the following gear in the Nanuk 925: Pentax DA 14mm f 2.8 w/hood, Sigma 28mm f1.8 w/hood, Pentax A 28mm f2.8, Pentax FA 35mm f2 w/hood, Pentax FA 50 f1.4, Pentax F 35-70 f3.5-4.5, Pentax DA 18-55 f4-5.6 AL II w/hood, Tamron 28-105 f4-5.6 w/hood, Pentax A 70-210 f4, Metz AF-58 Flash w/case, Pentax 28mm lens hood w/case, Hoya 49mm ND8 filter w/case.
That amount of gear filled the thing and I had two of the small dividers left over. I set it up as seen in the photos except I used the small dividers to sub divide the top right compartment into 3 sections for the 18-55 and 28-105 zooms and the 28mm lens hood and the bottom right section into one long portion for the 70-210 zoom and the hoya filter.
The 925 is about the size of a regular, full-size briefcase in all dimensions. This means you have little depth for larger lenses. In other words, you will have to lay the longer glass on its side. In my configuration all of the short glass was stuck in vertically with the exception of the 70-210 zoom. The flash also was placed on its side. I do not believe you could put a DSLR with grip in this standing up, it would have to lay on its back and thus take up more room. A DSLR without a grip/battery pack (Pentax k100d, k20d) would fit standing up. To compare, the Pelican 1510 is much deeper and you can put some telephotos in it straight up--I have a Takumar 200mm f4 and a Pentax FA 100-300 f4.7 in that case and they fit straight up and down, my k20d DSLR also fits in there with grip straight up as well.
Clearly, Nanuk is just as high quality as the Pelican, with some additional improvements. Their prices seem a bit more reasonable and they have sales--which I never find with Pelican. I like this case, but as always I wish I would have got a bigger one!We use these cases everyday to hold amp meters for our business. Does a great job and is lighter than some competing brands we have used.
