Kelty Mockingbird 28-Liter Pack
Lenovo Targus Eternity 15-Inch Backpack (57Y6560)
laptop protection is null and front packet is unusable / inaccessible.
As for materials really goofy stuff
Price is close to Targus Excel, but you will be mistaken to think that you get anything remotely close in design / quality
JUNK STAY AWAYThis is a great backpack if you are looking for a SLIM and SIMPLE backpack. It has two zippered compartments, the large one and the front one. Inside the large compartment it has a slot for the laptop and has a small divider that splits the remaining area into two. So if this is not the backpack for you if you are looking for something with plenty of compartments.
It is well built. The straps and back is padded, it is comfortable to wear. I've had it for over 3 months and it is holding up very well, still looks brand new. The simple black with the orange accent makes it look clean also.
I got mine for 10$ but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple backpack for your laptop.

STAR WARS BACKPACK BUDDIES R2-D2
BUILT Neoprene Sleeve for 9-10-inch Laptop, Black
Fit: When you first see it, it looks as if it's not going to fit because it's so small, but to my surprise, it fit just right. There isn't any distance between the edge of the netbook and the zipper when closed and there is no play inside... it stays snug. This is probably due to the shape of the sleeve, a feature dedicated to that purpose according to their website. A friend of mine tried it on her Dell Mini 9 and liked it. She decided to get one also.
Protection: The main reason I decided to buy this item was because I had stopped by a computer store beforehand where they had this same sleeve but for laptops 13" and up... I felt the protective cushion and was impressed. In terms of thickness, it felt far superior to any other sleeve I had tried. Unfortunately, the thickness on this version (10") doesn't seem to be as substantial as the one I saw in the store (it could be just me). That was a letdown, which is why I took away a star in this review.
Price: The Amazon price, including their shipping, makes it the best place to buy this item... better than the Built NY website or any other place for that matter.
Conclusion: For now it seems to work fine. It obviously protects against scratches and, as far as sleeves go, does a good job of cushioning the computer when inside a bag or whatever you carry it in. For serious protection, you would have to look into a carrying case with that shock absorbing air cushion. The carrying cases with the memory foam seem to be a bit cushier as well. All in all, probably one of the best sleeves out there. My only concern is that the website mentions that the sleeve will stretch to fit any sized netbook within the range it was designed for. I hope this doesn't mean that it will gradually stretch and become loose.Look at the picture carefully; this only unzips along the short side. That works fine for me, but thought you should know.
Fits my thickest 10.1" netbook with a fat battery pack just fine this "fatter" netbook won't fit some sleeves. That's good.
The "corner bumpers" don't add much if any extra protection; but they don't detract from protection either.
Overall a well made, decently priced netbook sleeve.
And ya gotta have one for your unpadded bags, right? Or if you have to put your netbook in an inspection tray through security.
I'd buy another....

This is a good netbook sleve that serves it function. Very well built and durable. I wish it had a small pouch or pocket for a USB, cord, headphone, etc... What I like is that this laptop sleve doesn't add bulk to an already small netbook. I mean afterall, is that the point of having a netbook in the first place.Read Best Reviews of BUILT Neoprene Sleeve for 9-10-inch Laptop, Black Here
I haven't bought this case yet, but I found it in REI and verified that it will fit a Macbook Air 11". My only concerns are that the zipper could could cause some scratches and that the concave shape results in some wasted empty space in the corners.Want BUILT Neoprene Sleeve for 9-10-inch Laptop, Black Discount?
I've got both the 6-cell and 9-cell batteries for my Samsung NC10. Both fit, but even the 6-cell is a tight fit. That's not a bad thing--the reason I bought this sleeve was that I was tired of looser-fitting sleeves that made it tiring to hold onto the sleeve while walking around and often make it easier to fumble or drop the entire thing when the netbook squirts suddenly from between my fingers while inside the loose sleeve.
All that hazardous handling is gone now. This is like a grippy, second skin for my netbook.
My only complaint is that the neoprene attracts lint very easily and that the zipper can be difficult to close. But considering that this is one of the best-looking checkpoint-friendly sleeves out there (Tom Bihn makes a good one too), I'm okay with that.
It's a bit too big for just an iPad, by the way. Get the iPad sleeve instead.

I got this bag in Mauve. The bag looks nice and I like the organization. But it really squeaks loud. It was so embarassing and annoying. I've repositioning it on the shoulder or changing the length, nothing really stop it from squeaking. Very disappointed that I have to return it.Read Best Reviews of Kelty Women's Redtail 1600 Backpack Here
I use this pack for day hikes, travel and school (I am a grad student). Overall it is a good pack. The straps are comfortable, and the back ventilation works pretty well. The size is a bit big for day hikes, but perfect for carrying a few textbooks, a laptop, my lunch... As far as the annoying squeak, in my experience it went away after a month or 2 of regular use, and even when it was present, I was the only one who noticed it. The only problem with the pack are the mesh side pockets, which are too small to hold a water bottle. I use the compression straps to hold mine in, but I wish I didn't have to. The pack is however compatible with a bladder system, so when I'm hiking, that's how I hydrate.Yes, it has style but it works too. It fits great and doesn't squeak and my water bottle has not come close to falling out. Plenty of room; plenty of pockets and straps. I had to return the 1800 because it just didn't fit. I'm very happy with my 1600.JanSport Market Street Messenger Bag
The pluses: 1.) The strap is fairly sturdy and, with the adjustable shoulder pad, allows for comfortable carrying. The strap itself is adjustable in length, allowing the bag to be carried closer to the body for security if desired. 2.) The padded back panel is nice. Even though I don't currently carry a laptop, should I need to for school, I won't have to worry about cracking it against the floor or desk. Plus, the padding carries around to the side panels as well as to the bottom, so any device put into that back pocket will be well protected. 3.) The front flap is also padded, so although the pocket is small, should I carry an e-reader or a tablet rather than a laptop and put it in the front flap, it'd still be well-protected from any jouncing, jostling or random hard knocks. 4.) The Velcro closure on the front flap allows for quick access, which is nice on those days when I'm running late to class and I have to get my crap out quickly to catch up.
The minuses: 1.) It doesn't hold quite as much as my old bag. My old messenger bag had an expandable bottom, which meant it could go from huge to back-strain huge. This bag doesn't have an expandable bottom, so once you reach its B.S.L., that's it. (Every bag comes with its own built-in B.S.L. [Bag Stuffage Limit]. Once you reach that limit, it's really not wise to exceed it and JanSport has nicely provided a measurement of how much you can stuff into its Market Street Messenger Bag [1345 cu. in/22L] so hopefully you don't reach the point of bag explosion or back implosion.) Currently, I've only got one (really thick) textbook and one large 3-ring binder in the bag and while technically there should be room for at least another textbook and a few more binders and folders, it already feels a bit... I won't say cramped, but it is cozy in there. So it isn't the roomiest of bags. 2.) The description says it has a side mesh pocket to hold a water bottle, but it doesn't. I don't know if this feature was on an older model of the Market Street bag which was then discontinued or is only available in certain colors. I do know it was rather disappointing when I received the bag. 3.) The organization pockets for pencils and whatnot is on the inside of the front panel, which is awkward and inconvenient. It would've been better placed on the outside of the front panel, where a mesh zippered pocket currently sits. Not only that, but the pencil pockets (of which there are only two) are on the small side. My mechanical pencil doesn't fit into either one, so that's rather a poor design. 4.) I wish it had at least one more pocket. It's got the interior pocket for a laptop and the smaller pocket on the flap for books or whatever and that's it. It would've been nice to have had an additional pocket on the back panel of the bag, just to have more storage. Again, to refer to my old messenger bag, it had five pockets, so that there was room for everything. 5.) The biggest minus is the strap. It's sewn down to the bag on both ends instead of being attached by swivel clips. This means when the strap gets twisted (and it's a strap, it lives to get twisted), you have to set the bag down and really work to get it straightened out. With swivel clips, a twisted strap is untangled with a flick or two of the wrist, even when the bag is on your shoulder and you're on the move. It's a small detail, but the fact that there are no swivel clips is indicative of quality, in my eyes; not only that, the lack of those clips is frustrating and, especially when the bag is full, a real pain to deal with.
All-in-all, while I don't see what the fuss is all about concerning JanSport (this is my first purchase of the brand), I can't say I'm too disappointed. Then again, I can't say I'm too impressed either. However, the bag is sturdy enough and if I get five years of good use out of it, then I'll have gotten my money's worth and that's something I can't complain about.I bought this as a gift for my college student son. He didn't want a messenger bag with heavy buckles. He wanted something roomy and functional and this bag is it! He is very pleased with the bag and I was very pleased with the price!

It not as bag as I thought it would be,but the quality, durability is nice and it seem to have some water resistance. Overall a good buy. This bag was everything I was looking for. Plenty of room for all my girlfriends files and laptop. Would buy again if I'm in the market for another bag of this nature.Kipling Eldorado Small Shoulder Bag
It holds everything I need without getting heavy or bulky. The zippers and velcro closures seem very sturdy. The strap is wide enough to not hurt my neck or shoulder and it is very easy to adjust. The bag sits comfortably on my hip (or on my lap if I'm sitting) and it doesn't get on the way.
In the front zippered bag I put my HTC Incredible with case and a pack of tissues. My phone is easily accessible and I have no problem retrieving it when it rings.
In the front pocket I put my wallet and keys. Also very easy to reach.
The back zippered pocket is large enough to fit a small planner, two small containers with hand cream and hand sanitizer, a pack of gum, a pocket mirror, a lipgloss, and my sunglasses. This pocket is not very easily accessible because the zipper is behind the shoulder strap, but I don't mind because I only need this items occasionally.
The middle pocket is designed to hold cards but I don't trust it because it doesn't seem very secure (that's why I use my wallet instead). I use this space to hold a usb stick, an ipod nano and earphones, a pen, and other random items that I rarely use like coupons and wipes.
The only con is that it doesn't have a secured pocket for small items like earrings or loose change.
The color in the picture of the "true blue" is deceiving. I was expecting it to be a bit brighter and slightly washed out, but it's a very dark blue, almost black. It's a pretty color, but it looks more "formal" than what I expected. I suggest you google the name and color to see what it really looks like.
Bottomline: this is a very useful and cute bag.Kipling products are fantastic! I personally use this for when I am vacationing, it holds two cell phones, my camera, money, credit cards and some extras. Perfect for amuzement parks and sight seeing! Quality couldn't be better!

Like all Kipling products, this is a cute yet durable bag (my Kipling backpack is 15 years old and still looks like new). However, I wanted to point out that the IMAGES MISS A FEW THINGS.COLOR:
"Warm Grey" is very misleading. It is much darker and more brown than shown in the images. I would consider this a "Dark Tan". I have shown this bag to friends and family and asked what color it is, and they all say "Tan" or "Khaki". I purchased this to wear with black clothing and shoes. It is a much better match with brown clothing or shoes.
Also the lining of the front flap pocket and the card case are a pale minty green. It is a fairly neutral color, but still it is in the green family.
POCKETS:
The image photos on Amazon do not fully display the numerous interior pockets, which are (width x height):
BACK ZIPPERED COMPARTMENT 5.5 x 6.5 inches;
FRONT ZIPPERED COMPARTMENT 5.5 x 6 inches;
TOP VELCRO FLAP COMPARTMENT 5.5 x 5 inches;
BOTTOM VELCRO FLAP COMPARTMENT 5.5 x 6 inches, with a 5.5 x 3 inch front panel and a 5.5 x 4 inch "card holder" inside of it.
It is small and extremely lightweight, but holds and organizes everything I need, including: keys, my wallet (3 x 2 x 1.5), pen, 2 phones, antibacterial bottle, and a fair amount of make-up. Best of all, its many compartments keep everything separate, so I am never digging around in the bottom of my purse for things.
MATERIAL:
If you have never owned a Kipling, let me describe the material. It is like a cross between nylon and canvas. It looks more like canvas and has the thickness of canvas, but it has the "feel", the lightness and the waterproof attributes of nylon. Really, it is the "best of both worlds". My Kipling backpack has lasted 15 years with out a tear or a stain. The zippers are not normal zippers they are about 4 times as thick in gauge (i.e. much more "chunky") which makes them more sturdy and gives the bag a more industrial look.
It is cut but very casual, great with jeans though probably not appropriate with dressy attire or office clothing. I highly recommend this (or any) Kipling bag for daily wear, and especially for travel!

I love Kipling products, have always been incredibly happy with them and my unhappiness with this purse isn't about the actual bag but rather the size which I didn't realize was so small even after reading the dimensions. I was looking for something small to hold my wallet, phone and a camera when I went out and while this does accommodate those three items the pockets are awkward and I didn't feel secure with the items in them. The pocket for your credit cards/drivers license is not protected as there is only a Velcro flap over it and I worry that something would fall out. Overall I am on the fence for this product, I have used it only once after looking very forward to it arriving. This item is exactly what i was looking for. It is water proof, and very functional with all of it's secret pockets. The signature monkey it also wonderful and fun. Love it!LeSportsac Medium Travel Tote

Aquapac Pannier Backpack AQUA-790
As a backpack, mostly I was worried that any of these convertible backpacks would be just a sac with straps, saggy or uncomfortable as a backpack. The waterproof material gives this some rigidity, it has a nice box shape, and the decent straps with chest strap keep it high and stable on my back.
As a pannier, it attaches quick to the pannier rack and clicks to lock on. It takes both hands and too many seconds to unclip and tuck the backpack straps, so instead I've been just clipping the chest strap through the loop of the top closure. So I can go from backpack to on the bike in seconds while I hold a cup of coffee. I also like that it is really waterproof, like you could dunk it, so I'll have no worries when I commute for 3 hours with a laptop and change of clothes, no matter how hard it rains. The good:
-Mounting system
-Waterproof
-The only pannier-backpack combo I could find
The not as good:
-backpack straps are way too long
-must be carefully packed to be worn comfortably as a backpack
-internal rivets for mounting system can mark contents
-no organizing pocket.
This is the best mounting system I've had for a pannier yet; it's similar to ortleib's mounts. It's completely waterproof; I've dunked it in Lake Michigan, and it floated. The fact that its a pannier/backpack combo that didn't require a bulky attachment for straps is *great*. However as a backpack, it mostly fails because there were just too many compromises in design. The straps are *way* too long, and can't be shortened without cutting strap material. Once I cut the straps, the bag is more comfortable as a backpack. The rivets which attach the pannier hardware put permanent dents in my soft laptop case, so I put a piece of corrugated cardboard in and crushed the corrugations over the rivet heads. Last, I had find a small pouch to organize small stuff that normally goes in a small external pocket of most backpacks/shoulderbags. Otherwise it becomes lost at the bottom of the bag. Even though the bag is not huge, the roll top system means it becomes *very* deep when you need something from the bottom.
Overall, it's *still* more comfortable to carry with a heavy load than a messenger style bag, or a pannier with a single shoulder strap. And the alternatives are either outrageously expensive or have larger design flaws, or both!
Mammut MTR 201 PACK
Fit was acceptable but could be dialed in better with sizing variation (s,m,l),this probably keeps the cost down. Right now it is a one size fits all pack. I'm on the smaller side (64in/135lbs) and I tightened the shoulder tension completely. The chest strap provided good tension but the design would benefit from the second sternum strap that comes equipped on the 7 liter smaller version. The hip belt actually sits above the navel and is not padded. It did help stabilize the load but I think the 2nd sternum strap would have improved the pack fit and bounce more.
The shoulder straps have multiple pockets. There is a bottle holder on the right, though what size bottle it was made for I have no idea. It cannot fit the typical 20 oz bottles without serious effort. I would be afraid of ripping the material. The left side has a built in whistle and a mesh pocket that is perfect for a cell phone. There is a volume expansion zipper on the main body of the pack, a feature that you see on many suitcases, that allows you to cram those high volume items in (rain fly/tarp)without stressing the light weight material too much. Also on the back side of the pack behind the super plush padded mesh back panel (best back panel ever!)is where the hydration sleeve is. The sleeve will easily fit a 3 liter hydration bladder and there is a clever way to route the tube under the shoulder fabric and a nice Velcro piece on the shoulder to keep the tube in place. FYI this is obviously a frameless pack.
The MTR 201 is definitely a niche product. Great for UL backpackers out for only a single night or trail runners out all day or overnight unsupported. I can see myself using this as a day pack when out with my 3 year old on a picnic/day hike but mostly for one night of fastpacking, or a stage race.
Loses a star for fit/bounce, hipbelt, and no 2nd sternum strap. The option to remove the hipbelt when not in use would be nice.
CaseCrown Book Cover Clip On Case (Black) for 11 Inch Apple MacBook Air
1. Visually its impressive. The Faux Leather looks and feels like the real deal. I was worried about putting any case on my Air as I didn't want to detract away from it's appearance. No worries on this point. The case actually makes my Air stand out from the rest.
2. Quality Although I haven't had the case for more than a week, I expect it to last for quite a while (and if it doesn't, another 18 bucks buys a new one).
3. Protection I'm sure there are other cases that can protect your air better than this one, specifically the clamshell type cases that snap around it to cover it completely. That being said, this case will protect the top and bottom extremely well. When the case is closed, only the left and right sides are exposed (the benefit here is that all the ports are open even when the case is closed). This is not an Otter Box, so if your expecting to be able to drop your macbook air from 10 feet, this case may not be for you. I can tell you though that having this case on here gives me a large degree of comfort knowing that the surfaces of my laptop are protected from scratches and nicks...
4. Wrist Rest When I purchased this case, I didn't realize it had this feature. The wrist rest is built into the case (the bottom part of the Mac Air slides into it). It has a cutout to expose the trackpad (which is fully functional) and is made of thin faux leather. I think it's not there for comfort, but rather to protect the Mac Air where your wrists rest. I know I've had several laptops that lose their luster there from repeated use and I was happy that this case will help keep my Air looking good for years to come.
5. Stand Built into the bottom of the case towards the back there is a pop-out stand. I assume this is to prop up the laptop when using it on a desk to help keep your hands in a "ergonomic" position. I very rarely use my Air at a desk (writing this review from my couch), but I tried it out and it was able to hold the laptop up even while typing a long email. Again, I wasn't expecting this, so I view it as sort of a bonus like the wrist rest.
6. Price I mean come on...it's 18 bucks and free shipping (if your a Prime subscriber). I was seriously considering buying the $79 Book Book case before I saw this one and decided that for the price I'd give it a shot. I'm SO glad I did.
This is my first review of anything I've ever purchased on Amazon (been buying here for 5 years or so) so that ought to tell you something. Oh...and I bought a second one for my wife's 2010 Macbook Air as well. This might come off a bit harsh. This is not a bad cover, but it does have a few drawbacks. First thing to remember is almost all of these covers even the cough cough PD..... come from China or Korea.
I selected it over the more expensive ones because most are just ripping you off. A 11.6 Macbook Air cover should not be costing more than $50 maximum.
That aside I am using this cover as I type this. As for the external quality of the cover it is pretty good.
Now the few things that ding it as far as rating goes are
1. The little flap on the bottom used for ventilation and propping it up when it is on a desk, does not always stay closed after use. This could be improved. You have to press it in and hold it to make it close, it will still droop down sometimes.
2. Is how it fits on the Air. The Palm rest area slides into the cover and it is not quite a snug fit, not bad but not snug. This is manifest as well when you close the cover. it tends to expose the back corners of the Air until you physically push the air in slightly or push the top of the cover back. In a travel situation when you are in a hurry this could be a problem. As the rear corners of your laptop would be exposed.
I suspect that the $50 faux Suede covers fit more snugly. I can say for $20 delivered it was worth the money. I am not entirely disappointed give that. If I had paid more? I might be more upset.
There are not a lot of options overall for Macbook 11.6 Air in Leather or Leather style covers. In fact most options are in the $100 range.
The bottom line here is for the money, its not a bad cover, not perfect not completely terrible either.
I am sure there are people out there saying you get what you pay for. Though In terms of manufacturing, none of these covers cost a lot a to make. Unless the cover is imported from Italy, or hand made here in the States, it should not be costing you in the $100 range.

I was concerned about getting this but needed a case quickly for my macbook air and so I went for it. I love it. I never have used that back flap that you can prop the computer withI guess I was a little worried when someone said it might not fit back as snugly as it does now. I have not needed it at all. It looks really nice and has done a great job protecting my new computer from my kids grubby little fingers. I really like the suede like pads which sit where your hands rest. I think this is one of the best features. It really protects your computer from the constant wear of your hands. I would buy another if this one fell apartbut it seems so sturdy I don't see that happening anytime soon. I highly recommend this case. This case works well for the 11.6" Macbook Air.Pros: -Wrist rest area is covered
-Case stays on even when Macbook is open because of elastic attachment
-Bottom where it says CaseCrown opens to prop up the Macbook for ventilation
-Price
Cons: -Not all edges are covered (can possibly get damaged when placed in another bag)
-Adds to thickness when Macbook Air is closed
Overall I like this case especially for the price with just some minor flaws. It provides decent protection for the Macbook air.

Well, the mesh bag was big and more than the cubic inches of the bag that was to be placed inside it for safe keeping at such places like hotel storage; however, it was not long enough. I believe this is a problem with the vendor and amazon.com in describing how to measure before purchase. Length is the limiting factor in the cubic-Inch calculation. I'll have more when I get back. The mesh is useable; however, it has now been repurposed and is doing a fine job.The locks are a little flaky; however, I am thinking a thief seeing all of this wire mesh will go after easier prey! I'd recommend this product. JUST REMEMBER THE LENGTH IS THE LIMITING SIZE fat is okay in this instance!

Gellas by ShedRain 4532 Gel Handle, 62-Inch Arc Auto Open Vented Square Golf Umbrella
The umbrella has turned out to be of poor quality. And worse, the company that sold it is unresponsive. On September 26th I sent them this email, through Amazon: "I bought an umbrella from you via Amazon, Shedrain Gellas Golf Umbrella, Auto Open , order# , in April 2010. I keep it next to my back door and use it only to walk to a club very nearby when it's raining. I've only used it about 5 times, for a total of about 10-15 minutes, and it's now broken. At first one of the "strings" came loose, and now the slide mechanism is jammed up. Can I return the umbrella?"
Here we are a couple of weeks later and nothing from the company. Don't but this product from this company.
Original review:
I got sick of having one umbrella after another get wrecked in the wind, get blown inside out, fall apart, fabric ripping, cheap parts rusting, etc. When I thought about it, I realized I bought few of these... I got most at promotional events like golf tournaments, or when donating to charities. The ones I had bought were in emergency situations in NYC when it started pouring and I'd duck into the closest drug store for a $10 model. Which would soon fall apart.
So I decided to buy a "real" umbrella and got this one. What a difference! It's actually built like a somebody cared; it just feels like it's well made. I've only used it a couple of times, but I'm pretty confident that I'll have this for many years (or until I leave it somewhere which has also happened many times).
I recommend this it's my first "professional" umbrella!
By the way, I think this would make nice, unusual gift for someone. I wouldn't normally think of giving an umbrella as a gift, as I have previously associated them with disposable, cheap products. But I think most people probably don't have a good umbrella, and it's one of those gifts that a person may first think, "He gave me an... umbrella?", but years later would appreciate it much more than another bottle of wine.

I have always loved ShedRain umbrellas, most especially for their windproofing features. This umbrella had two issues that are prompting me to return it to the mfgr for repair. 1) There is an odd, recurring sediment on the gel handle. It has the feel of scraping away excess adhesive with your thumb, but it oddly reappears over time. 2) The larger problem is that two of the spokes came detached from the umbrella within just a couple months of very modest and ordinary usage. This wasn't what I signed-up for, for a nice umbrella, so I am returning it to the mfgr for a warranty repair. I am hoping the warranty process goes smoothly.-------- July 2013 update -------
ShedRain handled the repair quickly and for free. I have only good things to say about how they handled the issues once I brought them to its attention. The umbrella is amazing. The soft gel handle makes holding the umbrella easy and comfortable. The umbrella is huge so be prepared for it to take up some space when not is use.

For kids who do not have a lot of books is the perfect size. I believe more than 3 2 inch thick books will make it too full. Construction feels sturdy but we will see!
