It is really convenient that it both opens and closes automatically. It holds up well in a strong wind. It has the coverage of a full-size umbella but closes to a small more storable size. The mesh carrying case allows allows for evaparation when wet and is a handay way to sling it over your shoulder for toting around when not in use.Read Best Reviews of Shedrain WindPro Auto Open & Close Umbrella Here
I liked this umbrella, it was great for walking in the rain in windy conditions, but the auto open & close mechanism stopped working after a little over one winter of use and now it is useless. Wonderful umbrella: Just the right size. Seems sturdy. Opens and closes with the touch of a button. The strap on the carry case is little more than a string. I imagine it will break if it gets caught in a door or in bags of groceries that I am carryingThin X Small Wide Computer Bag

12/16/12 So I've had this bag for a couple of days and due to the shipping charges I wasn't able to return it. However I did fix the straps by sewing them a little bit tighter so they fit better and I also made the flap at the front of the bag a little bit tighter. I'm really satisfied with it, if only it had arrived that way.

I was really excited about the pack. I was able to fit my 15.6 in laptop (in it's protective sleeve), text book, 3 single subject notebooks, nexus 7 in case, and kindle paper in case. It was really boxy with all that stuffed into it (I just wanted to see if it would). My complaint is the color. The canvas itself was a little darker then I had expected, though still nice. HOWEVER the bottom strip is not a lite blue like I had thought. It is more turcurse then anything else and does not go well with the redish brown leather (or leather like) and navy blue and white striped straps. I'm going to send it back. So close.5.11 Rush 72 Back Pack
Now to the review. I have a CamelBak BFM 100oz Black that I have used for camping, a Bug Out Bag, traveling, and for military use. It's comfortable to wear, even with a heavy load of about 35 lbs, assembled in the USA, and made of Cordura, so why buy the RUSH 72? I was curious about it and I wanted to return the BFM to it's original role as a BOB.
So for this review I want to compare the two, so shoppers can understand the similarities and differences between them. So first they both are about the same size about 48L to 51L depending on what advertisement you use, but the RUSH 72 is a little taller. They both are well organized, and both have water repellant capabilities. Now let's look at the differences.
Pleae note, these are tactical backpacks so they are not good at holding books, folders, or computers, though they can do it of course.
The BFM 500:
It's assembled in USA, where as the RUSH is made in Vietnam. Camelbak uses Corudra, and 5.11 Tactical uses standard nylon. They both have outer pockets to hold MREs, Water bottles etc. but the BFM's stick out to the side, while the RUSH 72 are sleeker, going into the pack itself. I personally like the Camelbak's version better. It's easier to insert something in them, and they don't take up pack space. On the other hand the RUSH 72 it's difficult to insert something like an MRE, only cylinder shaped things like bottles fit well. Also, the BFM comes with a water bladder.
The RUSH 72:
It's function and capabilities are similar to the BFM. The BFM has better material, and a lot better craftsmanship (The RUSH 72 has some loose thread, and after seven weeks of use, shows signs of loosening. The Camelbak's threading holds much better in place.) Now, the RUSH 72 has a yoke for the shoulder straps which takes getting use too. In fact the RUSH 72 has a learning curve. You have to get comfortable with the feel of the yoke, and depending on your frame you may have to get used to the feel of the tucked away waist belt poking into your sides. After a while you don't notice them anymore. One thing I like though in the main compartment is that the RUSH 72 has a pocket for holding a laptop computer, or radio. The BFM uses straps instead. One thing I don't really like is the RUSH's spill over compartment. If you have a helmet or something it's good to have, but in daily use it just gets in the way. You have to use all the buckles to hold it down, or it will flop open. This also means it's slower to open, close, and keep stable. It's hard to describe but look at a picture of the RUSH and you'll understand. My solution was to have some Velcro attached to hold it tighter in place.
What's the same?
The water repellant material on both packs works well, but I might have to give the nod to the RUSH. Both packs have been in rain storms, but I would say, using anecdotal evidence the RUSH 72 kept my belongings more dry. Both packs have a rear top pocket. On the BFM it's big enough for gloves, night vision equipment, etc. but it has no mesh compartments for small items. On the other hand the RUSH's top compartment is so small it's useless for gloves, and such items. However it has mesh pockets for holding small items. If only the best of both packs were used to make a big rear top pocket with a nice mesh pocket.
The Verdict
It depends on what you want. For quality it's Camlebak. For military application I like the BFM better actually. The outside pockets hold bulky items better, and the rear top compartment is big and useful. For my civilian travels I like the RUSH 72 better. The inside radio/laptop pocket holds my computer well, and keep it dry, and the rear top pocket with mesh is good for holding my iPod, and other miscellaneous items. The fleece lined eye glass holder is okay, but becomes near useless if the main compartment is full.
Update
Well it's been about a year since I got the RUSH. I've recently replaced it with a RAPDOM Rapid 96 Hour backpack.
The RUSH has held up well even with the loose threading. After about seven months I could stop burning off unraveling thread. Having said that it doesn't look new. The right side pocket zipper pull came off, but that's no big deal. The nylon has held up well, but you see the dirt marks that are left over even after cleaning, and the uneven tone of the bag from being exposed to lots of rain, snow, mud, and sunshine. I used it a lot. So why did I replace it? One It's not comfortable to don/doff. The straps easily get twisted up when putting it on, and they snag on something coming off.One of my coats lost a button because of this. Also, the spill over pouch and the admin section only work well when the bag is loaded down. Otherwise the weight in the admin pouch will pull the back section of the bag down, making it sag. However I'm using it as a bug out bag now, and it works fine in that regard. There's enough bulk in the main cargo area to make the admin pouch and spillover pouch stay in place, and the extra pockets come in handy. Really the RUSH 72 unlike the RAPDOM and Camelbak BFM can't be comfortably worn unless it is loaded down to keep the rear section from sagging.
Buy 5.11 Rush 72 Back Pack Now
Purchased this for an upcoming deployment (fourth OIF/OEF tour), so I knew what I was looking for, and this pack is it. Picking out the right ruck and getting it "right-sized" is difficult; too large and you're dragging around a piece of luggage; too small and you're tying gear to the outside, snagging it on everything. Quality was important to me as well & 5.11 has a very good reputation.PROS:
qualtity is superb very rugged built to withstand abuse
pockets lots of 'em and very usable; easy to organize
expandable webbing allows numerous MOLLE attachment points
built in Camelbak compatability
Right size to accomodate a 3-4 day patrol in cold weather
CONS: NONE (it's not cheap, but you get what you pay for!)I've carried a lot of civilian backpacks and military rucksacks in my day and this bag is great for its size. It's the perfect size to make a 72-hour bug out bag with endless options for pockets and the MOLLE webbing throughout the pack. I also bought the 5.11 Tactical MOAB 10 to use as a quick go-bag with the bare essentials and use the Rush 72 as a larger bag to carry food, clothing, and shelter. Using the Rush-tier strap system, you can dock your MOAB bag to any of the Rush series bags. This is a quality bag that will stand up to many years of abuse. This bag was worth every penny. I'm USAF Security Forces, and after my last bag (MOLLE 3 Day Military Assault Pack Backpack OD Green) fell apart during my deployment, I decided it was time to look into the names of companies I knew about. That brought me to 5.11, and eventually the 72 pack. I take between 40 and 70 pounds of gear to work everyday, so I need a bag that can withstand punishment, and give me peace of mind knowing that it's not gonna break and send my gear everywhere. After I received the bag, I filled it up, and I still have room for more gear. The nylon feels tough as nails, the handle on the top of the bag feels as strong as they 5.11 claims (2,000 pound breaking point), and it is THE most comfortable bag I have ever carried. Even with my flak vest and LBE on, this bag is still comfortable enough to make me feel like I could ruck for days. The only downside I've come to notice is the tendency for the bag to want to tip forward when I put it on the ground. So, I just attached my IFAK to the lower MOLLE on the front, and fixed the issue. 5.11 came through once again, and this bag has brought me to the conclusion that I will be purchasing anything else I need like this in the future.

It's rather bulky, so for those of you who use your Timbuktu's to transport, say, gold bullion, then I say yes, buy this. If you're one of the regular folks who don't have massive heavy loads, this might be a waste of money.Good padding, but quite thick. WILL damage your suit if used.I love love love my Timbuk2 Medium Messenger Bag, and had used it for school/grocery shopping for several years without the strap pad. I bought the pad before going to study abroad in Europe last summer since I was using my bag as a carry-on. The pad really made a remarkable difference. I took my bag through 6 different airports, used it as a weekender, and essentially lived out of it the whole summer. The pad made carrying my life around on my shoulder much more bearable. I now use it for school again, and I can tell a difference in the amount of cutting-into-shoulder pain. Definitely worth it, if you're going to commit to an excellent Timbuk2 bag, go for the pad as well and really get the most out of your bag. This is a shoulder pad. It attaches to the strap on your bag and pads your shoulder. Mission accomplished!
Meffort Inc 13 13.3 inch Neoprene Laptop Carrying Case Sleeve Bag with Hidden Handle and Adjustable
The item smells when you first get it, but it wears off after a few days. I like having the option of handles, too. It works great for travel because I didn't have to take my laptop out of this case during security. However, I really wish there was a pocket for my charger/accessories. Also, the picture is a little fuzzy, but I like the design so much I don't really care.Love it the color is nice and bright n holds everything I will every need in a case and its a good well fit case for any laptop I loved the size the space and it would hold anythingLive the feel of this case. Happy with the size for my lenovo Thinkpad twist. However wish there was a pocket or an easier way to hold the power supply. It will hold it but it really makes a big lump on side and I don't want it to scratch the cover.though it was going to be nicer and have more padding. to thin to keep mac safe from any damage
Augusta Sportswear Large Ripstop Duffel Bag. 1703
Quiksilver Gig DJ Pack (BLACK)
I bought this backpack so I could pack all my electronics with me on a trip. The bag was able to hold my Nikon Camera, GoPro Camera and accessories, and Alienware Laptop and accessories (charger, external harddrive, etc). After including all those items I still had some room for more, but the backpack was pretty heavy. Although it was pretty heavy, the backpack didn't look like it would break/rip easily. Definitely one of the best backpacks I've purchased so far.
The only complaint I can probably make about the backpack is that the zippers are hard to unzip. They're stiff when you try to pull them, so you have to give it a good pull. This can also be a good thing because you wouldn't want your items to fall out easily for whatever reason.
Anyways great backpack; worth the purchase!Quiksilver continues to astound lots of multifunctioning pockets and straps its almost like a fashion army pack lol...
the bag is way nice but a little ridgid i suppose it just needs to be broken in. the only thing i would say thats missin is board straps

Tumi Alpha Compact Laptop Briefcase Pack
It is plenty roomy and but does not have the same bulk of the Alpha Business Class backpack. The side pockets align more closely to the main body than on the Business Class. So, when the pack is called "compact", it seems that is relative to the Business Class, which is also a nice item.
If you note the side view, the zippers of the main compartment do a kind of a "turn" towards the back as they near the top, This is nice because it makes for easy access to the padded laptop section, and a very nice wide opening to the main compartment.
The file folders are removable, but the laptop compartment is not (in other words, it is not a sleeve like some models). I like this more for my personal use. It will fit my laptop which is 14.88 inches wide, but that is pretty much the outside limit in size.
I think they found a really nice balance between size and capacity, and again, if you note the side view, you will see a bit of a taper towards the top, so it sits very well without being liable to tip over.
I plan on using it in a work setting, and have no concern about looking less than professional when going to a meeting. Maybe the leather is a bit excessive, but to me it adds quite a bit to the pro feel of the luggage. A nylon backpack is too much of a college look for my tastes. Some older Tumi backpacks had a zip-around cap on the top, which looks awkward in comparison to this sleek baby.
With all new leather goods, a leather conditioner makes a big difference. Put it on before you use the item, and every 12-18 months thereafter, depending on wear, use, and climate.
It is expensive, as you notice! However, it should last 20 years if you use a good conditioner, so that is $35 per year, not figuring time value of money.
In that light, this pack and all other expensive Tumi items are actually a steal.
All in all, an easy 5-star and worth every penny.I didn't purchase this through Amazon. I was driving around sandestin florida and i ran into this strip of outlett stores and there was a tumi store. I had eyeballed this backpack online a year or so ago and unfortunately I wound up buying some other no name very average leather backpack on amazon because the tumi was just a wee bit hard to justify price wise.... Not trying to brag but I own bags from waterfield, booq, northface, tenba, and buggati but i just felt like this tumi leather backpack was the one that got away. When I saw it in person. Oh I knew it..I felt it...it was the one!! Looking at it online doesn't do it any justice and guess what? I got it for so much cheaper than $599. I got a deal, i had to pull the trigger on this one. Some people would say this is excessive but I don't care. If you want high end, here it is. To me, Tumi represents some of the best bags available and I pretty much agree with the two other reviews for this bag.
I will say that the left side pocket has a small filter and its good for wet umbrella or even a drink because any moisture will evaporate through that tiny filter. The file folders inside are removable but I dig this feature and I really like the pockets up front. I can quickly store belongings and even my belt in these pockets before going through security check at an airport. There's also a cable bag inside u can store p/s or cables.
And backpacks aren't usually considered professional but I would say this one is.
Another nice thing is that tumi provides a recovery program for their bags in case the bag is ever lost or stolen and someone recovers it. I just think its nice they offer that service complimentary. Also it comes with a very fair warranty for the first year worry free and yrs 2-5 covered for any defects.
Anyway, I'm using this for my 10 inch asus laptop, my panaonic G2 which sits snug with another lens in a lowpro case, and my 7 inch tablet, and other accessories ie ipod, full size headphones, ext 2.5 hd, etc. I even have room for paperback book and with all of that, it doesn't weigh a bunch. Also, when the back pack isn't in use, it comes with a dust cover. I also bought the leather conditioner while I was there. You definitely want to keep this bag nice. I believe this bag will last me for years to come.

to be fair the review is about the brand and not on this specific backpack.I bought a TUMI backpack after a recommendation from a friend that mentioned there is life time warranty on it (to justify the 200$ price tag).
I decided its a good deal since I was confident I will be able to keep this bag our of harms way as far as external damages.
4+ years gone by the bag started to show some chewing done by the teeth of time from normal use and I decided to go to your friendly neighborhood TUMI store, pay a fee of 15$ for the shipping to TUMI "labs" in order to get the bag fixed or replaced. got a letter a week later asking me to contact them in 30 days or they ship the bag back "as is". (no phone call follow up god forbid in spite of the fact they get all your details when you ship it back).
the lady informed me the model I had only covered by warranty for 3 years... and other than that they cant repair the bag damage.
the only option the way they see it is for me to purchase another back at a discount.
now all that was good and nice if it was the redbull bag I bought in Thailand at 2001 for 10$ (that didn't have any damage since then by the way) but its a 200$ investment we talking about here.
the lady kindly corrected me it was 189$..
of course the fact I bought the bag in Manhattan in which you pay sale tax is not something TUMI cares to much about.
I let her know they can throw the bag and that I will make sure not me or anyone else I know will purchase their overpriced bags again, and its not because the product is not good I honestly liked it while I used it but because a company that charge so much premium for a mass manufactured product has no right to exist with this type of service.
so if you are about to buy a TUMI product I implore you to factor this incident in your decision and learn from my experience.
All the Best

The backpack looks great the build quality is exactly what one would expect from Tumi. For me, it was a little too small. Both the main compartment and the laptop section seemed a little small (guess that is why it is called "compact"). In fact, my 15" Macbook Pro was a little too snug in its section.I returned the item and bought the business class T-pass backpack from a local Tumi store (same price). That suits my needs much better. The laptop section folds out completely for seamlessly traversing airline security. The main compartment is separate (as opposed to the compact) and holds more items.
That said, the Compact does have more individual compartments and does contain a removeable file folder. That does make it a little desireable if the size is not an issue for you.

This bag is great for carrying a 17" laptop and books for a few classes. Last semester I took three classes and it fit all my books with no problem. Taking a full load this semester and it will not accomodate all the books needed so I may have to go with a rolling catalog case. Going to class with a couple of drinks and snacks saves me money from having to hit the concessions or the vending machines so the insulated pockets are outstanding. Love this bag! I gave it four stars because after half a year of use I'm noticing the right strap is starting to fray a little bit. Nothing drastic.Read Best Reviews of Targus TSB03202US Feren Backpack Blue Here
I like the bag but there are several things that annoy me for this laptop. First, it is a bit wide. Second, I have no use for the metallic foil section that it used "I think" to keep food warm. I did have some problem with airport security because of this foil compartment. It is reasonably priced and quite tough.Want Targus TSB03202US Feren Backpack Blue Discount?
I bought this bag almost ten years ago (in orange) and it has lasted flawlessly until now.I have used this bag for many years of college, and I'm sure the only reason it has started to wear out is that (as a law student) I often carry 40-50 lbs of books in it and pack it to the max.
I'm buying it again because the zipper on my current bag is finally starting to give out (after much abuse) and the cushions on the straps are finally starting to give out.
This bag has all kinds of useful compartments and a separate protected slot for laptops.
Tip: if you have a slim case for your laptop, you can can just cut/rip out the protective cushion area intended for the laptop and get a LOT of additional bag space. That's what I did.
Warning: when this bag is packed to the max, it looks pretty huge. So if you're looking for a small backpack that makes you look cute, this is not it. But if you're interested in having an extremely durable bag with tons of space and lots of uses, this is the one.
