We used these on a recent trip to France. It has a zipper system to do the compression for space saving. They are small, socks, underwear, maybe t-shirts, & similar will fit. Mostly, I found the one I used to help with containment, as in keeping the stuff I stored in it neatly collected in one place. Plan to use again.Read Best Reviews of Kiva Luggage Compress-It Compressible Packing Cubes Set Here
I own a set of 3 Rick Steves Packing Cubes which are very nicely sized and function well. I needed an additional set of packing cubes for my wife, however, and was attracted to the idea that the Kiva cubes had compression capabilities. And while the Kiva cubes function great as packing cubes, the compression capabilities are lacking. The Kiva cubes are well constructed with solid sides and bottoms, along with mesh tops for viewing contents. The Kiva cubes dimensions are slightly smaller than the the Rick Steves version, but sizable enough to fit the desired amount of clothing. The cubes contain an additional zipper that wraps around the cube, which is designed to compress the cubes when closed. I found, however, that when the cubes are fully loaded, the zipper compression does not adequately compress the cube, and most of the time the compression zipper can't even close completely without fear of it breaking due to the strain. In the end, I didn't even bother with the compression zipper, and instead just treated the cubes like standard packing cubes.
I think Kiva should revisit their design if they want to create a compressible packing cube. Small side compression straps would function much better than the zipper system. I originally gave the product 4 stars because the packing cubes perform their main function well, but I removed a star because the compression system seems more gimmicky than useful. Given the higher cost and slightly smaller dimensions over the Rick Steves Packing Cubes, I would just as soon choose them over the Kiva Compression Cubes.

The compressible bag works well for sweaters, scarves, gloves and knit hats. The small size is perfect to throw into a purse or bag because it keeps the items together, prevents them from getting caught in keys, and makes it is easy to find when you need it. The compressible bag works less well for lycra items since those are already somewhat compressed by their nature. I found this particular pair of compressible bags a bit of a challenge with the zipper---I have a different set with a smoother zipper, but for some reason, the zipper on these snags. I needed to put my finger between the bag and zipper to get it working.Lassig Mini Backpack
It is beautifully constructed, impeccably sown and built to last. It is even made of all non-toxic materials (yes, I actually read the tag that came with it!). I honestly was blown away by the quality, workmanship and thought that went into the design. I now have complete respect for this brand after seeing this backpack. I wouldn't hesitate to order something made my them again. Their backpacks are definitely on the pricier side, but it is worth every penny. I am honestly blown away.I actually got this bag for myself because I was looking for a smaller backpack. I came across this one in my search, loved the colors and cute alligator and decided that it might be what I was looking for. I have a two-year old and we are always doing a lot of activities, both indoors and out. I do not need a diaper bag any more since I only have to carry a few diapers, wipes, juices, and snacks and this bag is perfect for that!!! I love that the front pocket is insulated so I can put a few juice boxes and a water for me in it. The main compartment is very roomy for all of his snacks and more. The shoulder straps are padded and covered in a very soft material, so I will not mind carrying it all day. I am so happy that I spent the money on this bag, It seems to be very well made and worth every penny!!!This bag is just the right size for my 16 month old to take her change of clothes to daycare and holds her juice in the side mesh. I am very pleased with the product.Very good quality and durable. Super cute obviously, looks just like in picture. I love the bottom compartment underneath the main backpack space. It fits very comfortably on me and can also tighten to fit a kiddo. It also has a strap connecting the two shoulder straps which helps with the support and keeps the backpack on and in place. It has room for all the essentials if you are going on a day trip or something. I use it for outings with the toddler I nanny and it holds my wallet, makeup bag (didn't mean to put it in there but it fit just fine), snacks for both her and I, her water bottle, hand wipes, and a bunch of little things fit into the outside pocket.... I have gum, hand sanitizer, lotion, and my portable cell charger. Plus some other odds and ends that I am not thinking of at the moment. Also the water bottle mesh pocket on the side holds things securely and stretches to fit most beverage sizes. I am very satisfied!

I like the Kipling Scoop Medium Backpack but am rather angry that it is smaller than you state in your advertisment. Please do check your advert.
When I saw that it was so small I went onto the Kipling website to compare sizes and you are in the wrong.
I am not in the US at present and a visiting friend brought it down for me so I have little chance of returning it.
the bag is good, the misrepresentation is Amazon.Nice and light weight, perfect to carry anywhere, the color is beautiful and neutral ,everyone who choice this backpack will be glad.
Miche Bag Prima Big Bag Shell - Chelsey Urban Bag
For those that aren't familiar with Miche, the purses have three parts -the base bag, the handles (plus carabiners that hook the handles to the purse), and then the shells. There are four sizes of base bags & shells. Smallest to largest they are: Petite, Classic, Demi, and Prima (also called the "Big Bag").
The draw to these bags is that you don't have to switch out all the contents of your purse every time you want to change your purse's look -the shells easily slide over the base bag, and the base + shell securely attach at the top with strong, credit card safe magnets. (Some of the smaller base bag sizes have shells that just attach to the outside of the base, but the Demi and Prima base bags are entirely enclosed in each shell you buy.) The Prima base bag is the largest of the bases -it's for the girl that takes "everything but the kitchen sink" everywhere she goes, but still wants to look great doing it. As a 6-foot tall woman, the bag looks perfectly normal-sized on me, but I've seen photos of really skinny, tiny model-y like women with the Prima bags, and the extra large bag size looks great on them, too.
The Prima Base bag comes with the standard black handles and carabiners. The Prima shells, like Chelsey shown here, come with nothing extra -just the shell shown in the photo.
Once you have the Prima base bag (and handles), you can purchase Prima shells, like this one, that come in many textures and colors, each of which instantly changes the look of your purse. There are different types of handles you can purchase separately, too, which can change your bag's look even more. However, the basic black handles do look fine with most of the shell styles. Just make sure when you buy shells that you're buying ones that match the base size you own -if you own a Classic base buy Classic shells, a Prima base buy Prima shells, etc.
I don't sell Miche -I've never even been to a Miche party. I heard about these bags this summer, and bought some online because the idea really made sense to me. This interchangeable shell system has solved my lifelong purse organization dilemma. Before getting this bag (and some shells) I typically used the same 2-3 bland purses for many years in a row, never caring how they looked in general, and especially not caring if they looked good with what I was wearing. Often, when I would switch between my sad few purses, I'd invariably leave something important in my previous purse. Now, I look forward to which "look" I'm going to have each day and know everything I put in my purse yesterday WILL be in it today, regardless of which shell I choose. The large flap over the closure makes it unhandy to get to the inside. The outside pocket is too large and unsightly. I have other Miche shells that I like better.

Everki Beacon Laptop Backpack with Gaming Console Sleeve, Fits up to 18-Inch (EKP117NBKCT)
This bag has plenty of room for my laptop and the pocket is lined with what can only be described as dead Muppet fur, which is as luxurious as it sounds. There are plenty individual pockets and all with what reminds me of a massacre on Sesame Street. As graphic as it sounds, my iphone, mouse, power supply, cooling stand, etc. are exquisitely caressed by what appears to be the flesh of Ernie.
There is even a rain cover to keep it from the elements! An amazing backpack. I don't know a lot about Everki, but I'm now a life long customer and will recommend this backpack to my friends and family.
The biggest con is the price, but the simple fact is you pay for expert craftsmanship and, come on, Muppet fur. I think it comes out to about 10% of the price of my laptop so it's worth it to keep it safe and sound. Looks cool and comfortable to wear. I love this bag. After weeks at Staples, MicroCenter, BestBuy and OfficeMax I finally decided to bite the bullet and spend the money for this bag. It fits my M17x like a glove, and carries tons of other stuff to boot (a netbook, a couple notebooks, a cordless mouse, and there's still room left over. My one complaint is that the shoulder straps are at a slightly wider width than most backpacks (Northface et certa); this was something I got used to in a week or so. Other than that it's got a stuff picket on the bottom with a waterproof jacket for the outside, I also stuffed a raincoat in there. The laptop compartment is very well padded and has a lining that I am confident would never scratch my machine. If you've got a massive laptop it's definitely the way to go, if I had known how great this backpack was I would have skipped the shopping process and just bought it from day 1.

I have an ASUS G73JW, a DSLR, Logitech G53 headset, couple of earphones, a Kindle, Sansa, and a bunch of clothes that I carry around with me. After looking around (because I had enough of lugging a duffel bag), I decided to throw in twice the amount of the Targus XL and bought the Everki Beacon.I was expecting a huge backpack to arrive but not exactly. It's actually a pretty decent average size with generous pocket space for all my electronics.
First thing that strikes you would be, holy crap this thing is really well-made. All my previous laptop backpacks feel flimsy compared to this ruggedness. Definitely well worth the $100 and extra express shipping fees to get it.
If you're still pivoting between to buy or not to buy, just buy it. Well worth every penny.I recently purchased an Asus G74sx 17.3" widescreen laptop which is a large beast of a laptop. With the laptop, I initially ordered a Case Logic (17") backpack which is an exceedingly tight fit. This laptop is very thick and long compared to others.
Looking for something larger and thinking the slightly higher pricetag would get me something nicer I ordered the Everki Beacon. I initially thought if it could accommodate the G73, my G74 should fit, right?
Wrong.
Had I read a little deeper into the reviews for this bag, I would have found the initial review warning off potential buyers with G74s.
This backpack *can* carry the G74sx, but not in the padded compartment intended for laptops. The G74sx will fit in the second compartment, but this seems a poor choice, as now you lose the ability to carry much else, and requires the (re)moval of the laptop to get at anything else in the compartment.
All told, this is a great bag, but it will not fit my intended cargo. Sadly, merely unpacking the backpack makes it ineligible for return to Amazon. Fortunately, I could either ebay it or give it to someone I know who has a gaming console they take to parties.I did not buy this bag from Amazon, as a matter of fact, I logged in to find a replacement. I have had this backpack for 18 months and it shows hardcore wear for no good reason. I have an 18" Toshiba Qosmio and I use it everyday.
The compartment is well padded side to side (Top and bottom of computer)but there is little padding at the bottom and NONE at the corners. The supplied rain jacket is not waterproof, just resistant. Your backpack will be damp if caught outside as the rain works through the rain jacket. After several uses the inner lining of the rain jacket began to deteriorate leaving a white residue. One of side pockets at the bottom has uncloseable slit (For an Mp3 player I guess) that can spit out a thumbdrive. The gaming console sleeve is pretty useless and flimsy, but I wanted a laptop bag. If you have a big laptop, it will intrude into the storage area and create a lip at the bottom that you will have to feel under for objects as it will be out of your sight line. A rip has appeared at left front zipper seam holding the main compartment which goes all the through to the inside exposing the inside.
The case carries: An 18" Toshiba Qosmio computer, a wireless mouse, large OEM power supply, three thumbdrives and three (Tiny 2.5") Seagate GoFlex external drives.
This items do not even fill the bag to half capacity. The total weight is about 18 pounds. I do not toss, throw or abuse this bag, I just use it normally everyday with an office job. Nothing else rides in the bag. If your are using this bag only occasionally, then it might be worthy -But for a $100+? (FYI, I wanted to love this bag.)
Update -August 2012: I have not had the time or money to buy a new backpack and since originally posting I want to add this: There is a clip on the front that secures the two shoulder straps and rests over your sternum. It is a three pronged male to female design. One of the prongs just snapped off from plastic fatigue (I guess) the load on the strap was moderate to low.
13 inch Application Icon Wallpaper Notebook Laptop Sleeve Bag Carrying Case for MacBook, Acer, ASUS
The only issue I have with this sleeve is that it is not too thick and might not protect the laptop from any jerks in case it falls or gets hit on any hard surface.
I have a Macbook Pro 13'' and although the description says it is for a 13'' laptop, it is bigger and does not fit the laptop snugly as I would have liked it to fit.Love the design of this sleeve. Material looks strong and durableA great buy for the price. Makes a nice gift.I love this laptop bag. It's so colorful and I get plenty of compliments on it. It snugs my laptop like a glove.

Briggs & Riley Luggage Compact Byte Brief
1. Briggs and Riley is one of only a few luggage makers that offers a lifetime warranties on everything they make. It goes without saying, all of their products are extremely well designed & thought out, made of durable materials that are carefully put together. If there's every a problem, they will fix or repair it for free. I have one other B&R product that has served me extremely well and looks/works as good now as when it was first purchased.
2. Aside from holding a 13" laptop (fits my macbook 13" perfectly), it has a separately zippered compartment to hold an ipad + papers. If you do not need the second pocket to hold additional papers (ie, you only need a bag that will hold a laptop + smaller front pocket, B&R makes a Speedy Mini Brief, which is slimmer/lighter, but I find that its nice to have the extra space)
3. It has a strap on the backside that allows you to hook the briefcase onto the handle of your rolling luggage. There is also a separate detachable and adjustable shoulder strap.
4. This thing OOZES quality-it's made of abrasion resistant nylon and the self-repairing zippers that open and close very easily. It's very comfortable to the touch, and looks like it will last a very long time. I've gotten several compliments on it.
5. The front pocket has an area that holds 3 pens, a USB stick, key chain, cell phone, business cards, etc. The bag has a unique serial number (like many Tumi bags), and you can register the item at B&R's website; that way if its ever lost, the owner can be identified.
6. The interior of this bag is orange; this makes it obvious when the bag is open, reminding you to close it.
7. There are orange accents on the zipper, and a small portion of the stitching on the front and side is orange as well; I dont find it distracting.
8.The straps are held together by two magnets inside a padded foam wrap; the magnets snaps together and the foam handle VERY comfortable to hold for extended periods of time with two hands.
9. There is an additional slim pocket that is zippered from the top of the bag, about 4 inches long, and another that runs along the front pocket; I dont have any use for them, but they dont get in the way.
10. If there are any problems that arise I will update this review as needed. If you are looking for a genuinely light laptop travel case, and you don't have a laptop larger then a think 14" 15", then this case is ideal. I use it for my 13" MacBook Pro. It is of the quality you expect from B&R, namely the highest, and it is astonishingly light. But if you are someone who packs a lot into a briefcase this is not the case for you. I used to, but I am glad that this case forces me to travel sensibly.
Ogio Duke Backpack
It's almost perfect. I would give 5 stars if it would have had double zippers, which are pretty common even for inexpensive backpacks. The side mesh pocket is not deep enough to hold my water bottle and it keeps falling down when I bend over.
The double zippers are critical. I wish that at least that would change for the next version.I have had this back pack for a few months now and I am super pleased with it!
It is the best back pack I have ever had!!!
This is such a great quality back pack! It is the perfect size and super comfy to carry with the padding on the straps and back part!
I love the colors!
I am hoping this will last for a very long time, and by the looks of the ogio back packs my husband has (and has had them for years and in aggressive activities and sports)-that it will because his are in great condition still. :)
This is the only company of backpacks I will buy from now, I have had bad luck with other brands.

ZUCA Sport - Insert Bag - Basic Colors - BAG ONLY
The material his high quality and their are a lot of pockets. The red is pretty distinctive so you should be able to identify it easily from a distance (airline baggage area, from a distance at an event, etc...).
It is also big enough to fit a CPAP machine and a small bag. It technically conforms to TSA sizes for carry-ons but will probably not fit in an overhead compartment (it may/and did fit under the seat in front of my mother).
Summary:
Great durable little bag! If you are doing a lot of airline travel look for the carry-on version. However, nice and as advertised.
Petunia Pickle Bottom Women's Boxy Backpack Diaper Bag, Black Currant
It's black, so it won't get dirty.
It's plain enough that my husband will carry it.
It has a light-colored interior, so things don't get lost.
I wanted two outside cup-holder pockets (one for each kid), with pockets big enough to fit the bulkiest sippy cups.
I couldn't decide between a messenger bag and a backpack. This is both. I've read some reviews that the backpack part wasn't comfortable for people. But honestly, I am just happy to have both options of messenger and backpack.
I did NOT want a magnetic closure. Things were constantly falling out of my last bag.
Had to be durable, especially if I was going to splurge.
Had to be big enough to pack essentials for two kids, without being so big that it wouldn't fit in the bottom of my stroller.
Here are some bonuses about this bag that I just love.
I love the changing area that's kind of built into the bag. And I'm glad that the changing pad also detaches.
I love that the flap that covers the bag is Velcro because I can reach in for quick access to the changing area for things like a pacifier, without having to struggle with a zipper.
I like how sturdy the Velcro flap is. I've had my pocket picked before, and I feel like if someone wanted to get in my bag for my wallet while I was wearing this as a backpack, I would hear the the Velcro opening.
This bag is gorgeous. The hardware is beautiful. The embroidery is stunning. It's the nicest bag I've ever owned and I can see using it as a carry-on for airplane travel even with older kids.
The only potential flaws that I can see coming up are that the inside isn't waterproof so the cloth may get dirty. And I'm curious to see how the embroidery holds up. At least this bag is black on black, so I feel like pulls won't show as much on some of the more colorful designs.
** update ** The inside and changing pad, while not plastic, are water resistant and wipe clean. I am really hard on my belongings, and the chenille is holding up well. There is some tiny, very very slight pilling that probably only I notice, and only because I'm looking for it. Still love this bag.I received this bag in the 'Night Blooming' print before my baby arrived, and after using it for about a year, I cannot wait to replace this diaper bag with something else. I seriously do not understand the hype about this bag at all, besides the Petunia Pickle Bottom brand name?
Here are the good things about the bag:
Beautiful print, I get random compliments on how beautiful this bag is all the time
Has removable straps for both shoulder carrying and backpack
Has a nice padded changing pad included
Here are the things I don't like about this bag:
There are only two non-elastic, narrow but deep outside pockets. Anyone with toddlers will know this is not a good thing! Now that my baby is almost a year old, I need quick and easy places to store toys and other things that I want to pull out in a hurry, and these outside pockets are terrible. First, the openings aren't elastic, so the Tommy Tippee sippy cups that I use barely fit in there and have to be jammed in after stretching out the opening as far as I can. Then, the pockets are narrower at the opening, and are deep. So whatever I put in there, sinks really far down and I have to get my hand in there (I have small hands and it's still not a very big opening) to try to fish out things.
The flap. I have the velcro version, and bought the new 'Hush' magnetic converter, but found that the magnetic closure is way too weak, especially when you have a full bag. Also, this flap is basically useless. It is double-layered, and if you fill your bag, and then pick it up, the flap gets all distorted depending on which strap you use and if it's not perfectly balanced. So the entire bag ends up looking weird and bulgy, especially since the flap has two layers and each layer can stretch in a different direction, so the side of the flap that is velcroed stays in place, but the top layer gets pulled in whatever direction the straps and gravity take it. All the flap does is add extra bulk to this bag.
The changing pad, while nice, is velcroed really strongly to the front of the bag. Strangely enough, the velcro here is way stronger it seems than the velcro that attaches the flap to the bag. So it's hard work ripping off that velcro when you have only one hand free, and then you have to unzip it loose as well if you dno't want to use it attached to the bag (e.g. on an airplane). The pad is nice and padded, but this also adds a lot of bulk to the front of the bag. Oftentimes this bag is so bulky after just putting in a few things that it resembles a ball more than a "box", as the name would suggest.
The clips. I have the valet stroller clips, and while those are nice, the clips that are provided on the bag have a hole only big enough to fit one clasp. So if you have the shoulder strap attached to the holes, you will have to unhook those and clip them on in the narrow slot that is meant to loop the strap through.
I sit here, frustrated enough with this bag to actually sit down and write this review, while I await anxiously for my new Storksak diaper bag to arrive. This bag is going on eBay as soon as the new bag comes in.

From the perspective of a man who doesn't want to be carrying around a girl's purse everywhere, I actually like this diaper bag. I prefer the strap over the shoulder even though my wife prefers the backpack setup, but even as a backpack it works fine over the shoulder (just not as long). The texture gives the bag some interest without looking too "girly" (although the texture can also fray a little bit after a lot of use). The color scheme of black and green is also a nice gender-neutral color that doesn't embarrass me too much when I walk in a crowd (what man wants to carry around a bright pink bag over his shoulder, especially if the baby is a boy!)Apparently the brand is a big deal with women so I also often hear ladies commenting about how they love the bag. To me, it's basically just a good quality, gender-neutral bag. A little expensive but I'd rather this than other bags that my wife pointed out to me.
CONS:
The only real con I have found with this bag is the velcro. If you have the bag loaded (diapers, wipes, bottles, cereal, change of clothes, nursing cover, etc.) and you pick it up by the backpack strap, the velcro almost always comes loose or comes un-velcroed (spelling?) entirely. I think I would prefer a magnetic button or some other sort of enclosure for the front flap to stay closed.
UPDATE (1/18/2012):
We RETURNED this bag this week in favor of the newer model Fall 2012 Petunia Pickle Bottom Embossed Boxy Backpack Central Park North Stop. The velcro "con" I mentioned above was finally too much for us to handle. We would sometimes forget to zip up the bag and just close the flap over the top. Then when we would be carrying it as a backpack (1 of the 2 carrying modes), the velcro would fail and the contents of the bag would spill out. We only had a change of clothes, some diapers, wipes, Desitin, a bottle, and that's about it so it's not like we were overfilling the bag. The velcro just really is that loose. The company obviously found out the velcro was a bad idea on anything but small children's shoes and the newer model now has magnets as well as 2 levels of snaps (for normal fit and larger fit in case you are loading in a lot of stuff). The newer model also seems like it has a slightly larger capacity.
I wrote reviews on many of the items that go inside this bag (bottles, containers, nail clippers, etc.) so check out my other reviews. And let me know how I'm doing!

I love this diaper bag. I have been looking for a great diaper bag for many months and I finally stumbled upon this one. The bag is very well made. The fabric is very attractive and it is very soft. It has plenty of compartments for all of the baby necessities. It also had holders on the sides for cups and bottles. I also love how the front opens up into a changing station. It can be worn as a backpack which is very convenient and comfortable, however, I bought the straps that allow you to attach it directly to your stroller handle. This is the absolute best feature! It doesn't take up any space in my stroller storage and I don't have to carry it around. This bag is a little pricey but definitely worth it.Want Petunia Pickle Bottom Women's Boxy Backpack Diaper Bag, Black Currant Discount?
Bought this as a gift for a new baby. The mother was very pleased with it. The bag is very attractive with a slight felt like pattern on it. It makes it "carryable" by Dad as well with the black color. The inside of the bag is a nice light green color. The front folds out into a diaper changing pad that is removeable to be easily washed. The bag itself is quite large with multiple pockets to stow a variety of baby goods.
We bought the additional clips with it so it can be hung from a stroller. Or, you have the choice between a shoulder strap or backpack style straps for carrying.
Baggallini Luggage Explorer Quilted Backpack
Here's the interesting bit: I also have the Baggallini Messenger Sling Bag that I used for a trip to Disneyland. When I got the Explorer I was looking at the strap configurations and saw that the listed dimensions stated it was a little larger than the Messenger. I really like the Messenger but wish it had a)a different strap option, as it's not always nice to have a sling strap across your chest if you're not dressed for it, b)more versatile pockets as I don't need the organizer section and just have it stuffed full of miscellaneous things, and c)another zippered interior pocket in the main section for a little more organization inside. I was hoping that the Explorer would address some of these items. However, I still like the Messenger more than the Explorer.
Here's why:
Although the listed dimensions for the Explorer seem larger than the Messenger, I can fit more into the Messenger. The Explorer is sewn in a boxy style and will not expand further. The Messenger will allow you to stuff it more.
The Messenger has better pockets. The Messenger's front section has two good sized pockets instead of a thin one and a tiny one. It also has some side pockets, a tiny pocket on the strap, and a larger slip pocket on the back.
So the Explorer is a very simple bag with a cute clean look. As a safari mom, carrying all survival items on my body, I really needed a bit more to it, though.
FYI. I also like the Lug line of bags that have a somewhat similar feel to them.Perfect size for me. I've used a back pack purse for years and this is nice (although for a Baggallini, it could use maybe one or two more outside pockets).

I have many backpack purses and this was horrible. The straps are cheap and awful. The nylon feels cheap and I returned it immediately.Read Best Reviews of Baggallini Luggage Explorer Quilted Backpack Here
I do like this bag but having had it for a couple of months now I can say how I feel about it after the new-bag glow has faded. The bag itself is nice. I like that the fabric is quilted. I have had Baggallini bags before and thought the nylon looked too plain so this is good. It isn't too big and it doesn't really expand so if you carry a lot of stuff you might not like this. The front pocket fits my cell phone in one of four pockets-two are for pens (though if I had a nicer phone I might not trust the magnetic snap to keep it secure though I haven't had problems with it). The little zippered pocket on the front is pretty useless unless you like to carry small flat things. Yep. The main compartment does fit my 9" nook hd+ tablet in its case along with the usual purse stuff. I can carry a couple of water bottles because they will fit BUT (and yes, it's a big but)...I don't want to carry much because of the thing that makes this potentially five star bag a three and a half star bag...The straps.
The flippin' (and yes, I do mean that literally) straps. The idea is good. Convert from backpack to cross-body! Oh that's good. No, it's not. It is OK if you only want to use this as a cross-body, a pretty big cross-body, but if you bought it mainly as a cute backpack that doesn't look like it's made for a small child you will find yourself cursing Baggallini for this design flaw. The straps slide through a ring at the top of the bag and they hook at the bottom (there are two hooks on the side for the cross-body style, which I have also used for the backpack hoping they would work better). You cannot swing this bag on with just one arm. You have to put down whatever else you are carrying, be it child, groceries or cat. Then grab the straps (straightening them out because they will have flipped themselves around every which way and one end will be down on one side) and hope for the best. Once you have the bag on the straps will likely swing the bag around here and there. When you take the bag off one side will fall to your side. I am considering either sewing the straps around the ring or quite possibly borrowing my husband's welding equipment to see if I can secure the straps somehow. Well, of course not but it's an idea. Oh, and once you have managed to get the bag on and you bend down to pick up your child, groceries or cat watch out because the bag will smack you in the face (those swinging straps again). Bend with your knees to avoid this. Don't attempt to walk while you are trying to put it on unless you are super coordinated.
So yes, I am sarcastic but I am glad I got a discount on this because as much as I love it I hate it. Because of those flippin' straps. I think I hold it by the handy dandy handle most of the time (dragging the straps on the ground since they slide around when you hold the bag by the handle). I hate to say don't buy it because it is cute but know that you might want to just use it as a cross-body unless you like a challenge.Looks small but it is large enough to stuff unexpected purchases or a bottle of water. Well made and looks polished enough for business use. Would prefer less heavy hardware and a substitute fastener for the magnet on the front flap.
