Love Shop Free Soldier Outdoor Military 1000D Waterproof Nylon Combination Hiking Backpack (Coyote
The pack shipped pretty quickly and arrived in a little over a week. They required signature confirmation, and when I wasn't home to receive the package, they called me (and emailed me) from China (at 9pm) to make sure I knew to pick up the package otherwise it'll be shipped back in a certain amount of days. I was impressed.
I'm writing this review as someone who's unfamiliar with any other military or hiking style packs. This is the first hardcore pack I've owned and intend to use it for camping and hiking. I was going to choose between this and an ALICE pack, but decided I'd try something different.
My first impression was how much room there was inside. There's a large cavity with a rectangular bottom (and a pocket that looks like it's for a camel back since there's a hole at the top covered by a Velcro strap) and a smaller cavity with an expandable bottom. The extra MOLLE satchel on the back is very large inside. On the satchel there are 3 additional zippered pockets. The whole satchel has the potential to hold a lot of little things and a lot of weight, however I'm not sure the 2 buttons that hold it to the main pack via the MOLLE connector are up to the task of securing the potential load inside the satchel. Of course this is my first dealing with the MOLLE system, but 2 snap buttons (which admittedly are heavy duty) seems a little light for constant bouncing and rough treatment while camping and hiking. Some Velcro reinforcements would be a good addition.
The MOLLE secured pockets on the sides of the pack are also very spacious, with another small pouch inside them for small items. I believe the two buttons are sufficient for securing these pouches to the backpack.
There are a lot of buckles to help secure the pouches to the pack to prevent slinging around and your loads shifting. However I have dealt with buckles on various other things that are much meatier than these. These are pretty standard plastic buckles, so I'm not sure how much force they can actually handle. The zippers are also better duty than normal zippers.
The shoulder straps are pretty standard with a little padding. They rub on the sides of my neck, I think I'm going to have to wrap that portion in some sort of wool. The padded backing on the front of the pack isn't as padded as I'd like. I have a school backpack with some really thick padding that I could wear all day. The waist strap is moderately comfortable, and is actually too big for me. I'm pretty thin and the buckles are adjusted as short as possible and the waist strap has a little too much slack in it to keep the pack secure on my back. I wear ~32-33" waist pants.
The main things that worries me about this pack are the strap connections to the pack and the bottom of the pack itself. I'm not a seamstress or whatever but all the stitching doesn't seem like it's sufficient to load this thing up and not worry about premature wear. I've had school backpacks with the same bottom as this bag and eventually they develop holes. I have a different school backpack that has a somewhat rigid plastic bottom that seems like it would last longer than this one.
All in all I'm happy with this purchase so far, even though I'm being picky. I loaded it up to go on a vacation and managed to get all my clothes, entertainment, and hygiene supplies in it, so it is very spacious. I am going to go get it inspected and reinforced by a professional seamstress though, just to be sure. Like I said, I don't know what's sufficient, but for the price I'd have wanted just a bit more.
Also another note, the pack didn't come with any instructions or paperwork of any kind. It also came with an extra belt thing with buttons on the end of it and a buckle in the middle. I know the best part of MOLLE is the flexibility to transform it into a pack specific to your needs, but some instructions and suggestions on the purpose of some of these straps and holes would be appreciated. I can get creative, but I'd rather use something for it's intended purpose than to rig it.

Padded Memory Foam Laptop Sleeve Case Cover - Compatible with 13" 15" 17" Laptop Notebook, 15, RED
Meffort Inc 13 13.3 inch Neoprene Laptop Carrying Case Sleeve Bag with Hidden Handle and Adjustable
The item smells when you first get it, but it wears off after a few days. I like having the option of handles, too. It works great for travel because I didn't have to take my laptop out of this case during security. However, I really wish there was a pocket for my charger/accessories. Also, the picture is a little fuzzy, but I like the design so much I don't really care.Love it the color is nice and bright n holds everything I will every need in a case and its a good well fit case for any laptop I loved the size the space and it would hold anythingLive the feel of this case. Happy with the size for my lenovo Thinkpad twist. However wish there was a pocket or an easier way to hold the power supply. It will hold it but it really makes a big lump on side and I don't want it to scratch the cover.though it was going to be nicer and have more padding. to thin to keep mac safe from any damage
Deluxe Zippered Black Leather 3-ring Portfolio By Bags for Less
This is more than I expected, very spacious and holds all my important papers.
Others were less expensive but seemed to leave a lot to be desired.
The more expensive ones seemed a waste of money.
I believe I got the best deal available.
I'm very happy with it.
Briggs & Riley Luggage Boost Convertible Brief
Though I like many things about this bag, there are some problems as well and I think that, at this price, you should have higher expectations. My main complaint is the laptop compartment. It is padded on the bottom and sides but not near enough. It really needs more padding on the bottom to prevent damage from a drop. I also don't understand why the laptop compartment was put on the outside. There is a middle compartment for papers but this would be the ideal place to put the laptop, sandwiched between the main general compartment (pens, keys, wallets) on one side and the paper compartment on the other. Even with the padding in the laptop compartment, I plan on putting in some semi-ridgid plastic guards with more padding to protect the laptop and may just switch to the center compartment altogether with my padding modifications.
The other problem is that the clips on the shoulder straps can be twisted in a way that they unclip from the bag. This usually happens when the bag has been set down then you pick it up by the strap. I've had a clip disconnect at least 5 times this way in a little over a month of ownership. This is a problem that you can get used to and avoid but still should not be an issue for a bag at this price.
In summary, it's a good bag and I'm glad I have it. With some minor changes it could be a 5 star bag.

My first month with this bag has been exceptional. Assembly quality is very high, lifetime warranty convinced me to take the plunge, and it holds all of my gear: MacBookPro 15, MacBookAir 11, kindle, mouse, camera, all cables/connectors, small toiletries kit (never know when the airline is going to loose your bag, eh?), external HD, Wireless hotspot, small flashlight, checkbook, iPhone, wallet, keys, 3 magazines, 1 book, 1 pad, sunglasses, and I can just fit my Bose QC15's. A cocoon Grid-it holds all cables and small stuff in the main compartment. That being said, it can hold NOTHING else. Bag is full, but not bulging.Clean an organized, very little to snag on the outside, professional look, and (drum roll) the slot on the back of the bag to slip through the extended handle of my rolling bag. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE VALUE OF THIS! Pro tip with Roller bag in upper storage, this bag is at my feet. Unclasp one end of the strap and connect it to the magazine slot when you sit down much easier to pull it up to dig stuff out in flight. The shoulder strap feels OK, I like the sewn-in large pad that converts to a backpack. Yet to use it like that, but still a solid option.
Request for improvement: The outside zippered bottle holder needs to be larger, and probably have a drawcord to snug it up (I've dropped my bottle twice on folks while getting seated). The key pocket, while a good idea, needs to be deeper. I agree that a little more cushion on the bottom of the laptop slot would be smart not necessary, but smart. Needs two more pen holders. Of the two organizer pockets inside, only one has a velcro-close top they both need this. Shoulder strap needs grippy stuff on the pad, it tends to slip unless you wear it across your chest (messenger bag style).
Why not 5 stars? Fix the stuff above or cut the price to $120.

I use this backpack for business travel and mix and match with two other Briggs & Riley products, depending on the length of my travel. It is fantastic and well worth the extra $$. It is a thoughtfully crafted small backpack that has all (and more) of the practical storage that I need (including one for a small bottled drink) and looks professional enough for a meeting with a suit. I was skeptical about the orange interior, but appreciate its contrast against all of the black things that I keep in the pack and used to have a hard time finding with previous, black lined pockets. My only complaint is that (sometimes, depending on what I am wearing) one shoulder strap will begin to slip off my shoulder. It is only a problem when needing to move quickly and without hassle. The solution is to cinch with shoulder straps tighter, but (depending on what Im wearing) then it is difficult to take off . Perhaps have an optional chest clasp. It is great, and I am glad (again) to have spent a little extra on such a well-designed, useful product.Want Briggs & Riley Luggage Boost Convertible Brief Discount?
This is about my 6th B&R bag so there were no surprises that quality was great, zippers worked, and things were generally well thought out etc. One small detail, the lip is too large on the front pocket to make easy access to the zipper, on the plus side, it is more pickpocket proof. I did try to make the back strap pop off like in other reviews, but I could not, maybe they have revised it and fixed the problem it is a model vb404.4 version. Anyways, like the bag fine I have never been disappointed with Briggs and Riley.Update 6/23/13
The strap did unexpectedly let go to other day. Bag dropped, nothing serious and I could not easily determine why it happened, but it does and did happen to me now. I guess they need to update the strap clasp somehow, maybe a drop over shield, like Tumi uses, or some other form of secondary release protection. I am still liking the bag.
Tumi Alpha Expandable Organizer Computer Brief 26141
For single day / overnight travel, this briefcase cannot be beaten I am amazed at how often I see other consultants using the exact same case!
The case easily fits a laptop, a zippered legal pad, a handful of files as well as an iPad, Kindle, umbrella (in the waterproof front pocket a nice touch!), glasses case and chargers. The main compartment can be expanded via zip about 2 inches, which means a toiletry kit and Eagle Creek shirt folder (smallest size) easily fit in.
The "pocket" between the front panel and main compartment is a well designed feature when carrying the bag, the pocket is held closed by the front handle, but it is easy to access anything kept in the pocket when the bag is put down. Very handy when flying I keep my earphones and Kindle in there so I can grab them before I stow the case for take off.
I have used this case daily, and the material has held up well no tears or scuffs. It is with regard to durability however that I have only given the case 4 stars. The zipper tabs quickly become chipped showing the metal underneath, and as they are painted black, this is very noticeable and detracts greatly from the appearance of the bag. The old Tumi messenger I used to use daily had dark gunmetal zipper tabs while these became tarnished over time, this was hardly noticeable. The chipped tabs look very cheap for such an expensive bag the design, capacity and overall material durability of this case is worth the price, except for this issue. I have considered buying the leather version of this / other Tumi cases, but will hold off until there is a change back to the old zippers / the zips are upgraded.
Overall a great bag, however the use of cheap zippers is unfortunate.I own 2 bags one for work and one for personal. This Tumi bag serves as my work bag and I have been using it for over 7 years now. This model is the probably the most popular and for good reason. It has ample room for a laptop and all your paperwork. The expandability feature comes in very handy when you have to transport binders and other large materials. I have even put a change of clothes into it on occasion for overnight trips. The Tumi quality is outstanding as expected. As I mentioned before I have used the bag for over 7 years and it still looks pretty new. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone looking for a high end briefcase!

I cannot say enough about this briefcase! Every detail has been gone over with a fine toothed comb, and it originated some innovations that have been copied by competitors. The product has received slight updates since I bought it 10 years ago. I enjoy how well it's made each time I use it. Seriously, every time I pick it up, I am pleased how nice it is.Some things I really appreciate:
The way the business card pouch is accessible from the outside
The water(proof?) water bottle (Coke Zero!) pouch
The many inside zippered and elastic pouches
The printed refined cloth fabrics on the inside
The TUMI tracer
The key loop (love it when I'm traveling via air and don't need my home/car keys)
The umbrella pouch (perfect for a small auto-closing Tumi umbrella)
The CD holders (used for many purposes other than CDs)
The expandability (turns it into a one-night bag)
The large front pouch (fits the new Tumi Monster headphone case, which is a Tumi Alpha case)
Headphone port (I used that back in 03 with a hard disc iPod, but use less often today)
Cable organizing pouch (I actually bought two more because I'm an Eagle Scout and have held to the motto, Be Prepared :-D)
Awesome no-catch zippers
Indestructible and always looking good Alpha ballistic nylon
Solid clips and structural support throughout (I'm not worries it will break under any weight)
The two clip that can be selected if the bag is expanded for the strap (it just sits better on the shoulder when expanded. Necessary? No. A pleasure to use? Yes.
The leather handles (The wear, which is mentioned below, may not be great, but the soft handles are well-made and don't have problematic edges that irritate and was a good choice).
A couple things I don't like about my 10 year old version that might have been fixed:
There is an outside pocket that has a zipper on the bottom for putting it through a rolling case handle. On mine, it the bottom zipper won't stay closed all the time, so I cannot use if for storage. some sort of lathing zipper would be neat.
The new version has a monogram spot on the U shaped pocket. This "patch" doesn't seem attractive to me
The laptop sleeve isn't a good size for my thin Mac laptops. I got another sleeve from Timbuk2 that offers a bit of padding and just swapped it in.
A Note On Wear
I have used this briefcase every working day (and then some) since 2003, and other than some wear on the handles and a replaced strap, it looks brand new. The only reason I mention the handles and strap are that they're made with leather. I could probably recondition the handles. It's easy to buy a new strap from Tumi. I waaaay overloaded one of the front pockets a couple years ago and tore the inside fabric stitching. I took it to the Santana Row (Santa Clara, CA) store, and they sent it to a repair facility that repaired it for free less some shipping. They should've charged me, especially since it was 8 years old and I knew better. Oh, and they gave me a loaner briefcase too!
It's hard to go wrong with this bag! I suppose one only needs to decide how much storage they need and how big their computer or iPad is to ensure the right size. Tumi really hit it out of the park with this one!

Years ago I used to make fun of all those stiffs in suits carrying their expensive Tumi bags. Then I started working internationally, wearing suits and trying to travel without ever checking a bag. This little tote/briefcase is awesome for that.Right now I have my Mac Air, iPad and my Kindle in it, with all the cords as well as a pair of running shoes, a sweater, some t-shirts and boxers. This, coupled with my duffel, means I go abroad for up to two weeks without ever checking a bag.
Face it, Tumi makes a great product with a lot of thought put into what you need. It's durable and well organized and perfect for extended business travel.
Resistance is futile.

I was very happy with my Victorinox laptop brief, which I used for about 2 years without any problems, but lately I increased the quantity of things (electronics and work papers) I'm carrying with me when traveling, so I needed a bigger brief but light in weight and with the enough compartments for those important documents and basic things I travel with (passport, travel shaver, bluethooth headphones, chargers, etc.).This Tumi brief was exactly what I was looking for, I had the chance to try it on a duty free shop and I even got a discount price (payed less than the online price). It holds my laptop, the AC adapter, 3 chargers, my travel shaver, documents, the huge Nokia bluetooth headset case and my computer's security cable with no problems and it doesn't look like a sardine can. Totally recommend it.
Briggs & Riley 17 Inch Executive Expandable Rolling Briefcase
Two things that bear mention. First, I have an HP 17.3 inch computer, not a 17 inch. I read on another website that my laptop would not fit this bag, and at first, I believed it. But I wanted to find out so I went to a retailer and tried it out. It fit perfectly. There was no stress on seams, no forcing, it was a perfect fit.
Second, the reason I have 11 Briggs bags is that I use them and once in a great while they get damaged. I once had an 8 year-old Briggs garment bag totally destroyed by an airline. The bag was so mangled that everything in it was dumped into two of those big tubs and the pieces of the bag ino a third tub. I sent the pieces to Briggs and in a week, I had a new bag. Other times, it has been a wheel, or a zipper or a handle, and every stinkin' time it has been fixed at no cost and returned to me with a smile. No BS, no hassles, no "yeah, but...". They just honor their warranty. I read about other bag's "Limited Lifetime Warrenty" and the forums are filled with stories of how that manufacturer didn't honor it because of something in the fine print. Briggs honors their warranty.
In short, it is a great bag made by a great company. You'll never go wrong with Briggs and Riley. I had seen this brand around for a while but always snubbed my nose at it and deferred to Tumi or Andiamo. But since my Andiamo's zipper failed and I was in need of a LARGE briefcase on wheels,(and learned Andiamo was defunct and out of business) I checked this one out at the recommendation of a salesperson at a luggage store in my local area. The prospect of spending close to $400 (MSRP is $389) was daunting and unappealing, yet comparing this piece to the Tumi at $675 made for an easy decision.
The Briggs & Riley wins out HANDS DOWN in terms of intelligence of design, attention to detail, construction and size, and stacks up nicely when it comes to style. While I have yet to take it on the road I find that this case easily manages to accommodate all of the gear we road warriors travel with, and I in particular travel with a lot: laptop, two iPhones, a Blackberry, a Tom Tom, lots of files and folders, 3 ring binder, pens and markers, car chargers for the two phones you name it. It has a perfect space for everything one might need and looks sharp as well. Oh, and by the way, you've gotta love the lifetime warranty! And their business philosophy is right up my alley, and you can check it out here:
At $389, I find this piece os worth every penny of it. Construction is first rate, style is understated hip, functionality supreme. This case rocks!

Same top quality as other B&R bags. When extended, the handle is a bit long for me as a 5'5" woman. However, the rest of the features outweigh this for me. For a tall man this would be an advantage.Read Best Reviews of Briggs & Riley 17 Inch Executive Expandable Rolling Briefcase Here
Osprey Elroy One Size Shoulder Bag
It's BIG. Cavernous big. I took it climbing last night, and was able to fit a half-rope (for the gym), 2 pairs of shoes, my harness, chalk bag, a roll of tape, and an apple, without squeezing. I also got a water bottle and a thermos into the outside mesh pockets, with easy access to everything.
The shoulder strap is wide and comfortable, so it's not a strain on my neck. I also like the easy-adjust clasp on the shoulder strap, which makes it super easy to adjust (as implied), great for going from my biking to walking, full to empty, etc...
Lots of organization options, which can get complicated but also lets me keep things that I need easy access to separate from the rest. That said, the design makes the main pocket easy to pack and keep organized anyway.
The wasit/chest strap is also nice for commuting on my bike, keeping the pack on my back.
A few cons:
The buckles used to close the pack are weird. They're not standard buckles. Not a big deal at all, and they're low-profile which I guess is a good feature, but they're weird. There's a nice wide velcro patch which works well, though, so I often don't use the buckles if I'm just walking.
Because of the design of the easy-adjust shoulder strap, it doesn't double-back, so the tail can get quite long when I've got it cinched all the way up.
The mesh pockets on the outside aren't super tight, so sometimes if I've got a thermos or bottle in there and I lean over to tie a shoelace, it'll come tumbling out.
Overall, I like it as a compromise between a laptop bag, a carry-on, and a messenger bag. This bag is great but one trip down the aisle of a 747 and the strap pulled out of front flap. If it gets repaired under warranty this bag is a 5 star messenger bag.
Bag was repaired at no charge.

I needed a bag I could carry to work and school, and this is a wonderful bag. Very sturdy! The leather has a nice worn look to it that makes it look more old fashioned. I carry my 10" tablet, a binder, and a book or two in here, and everything fits nicely. If you have a tiny laptop, it will fit, but my monster 15.6" certainly won't. I've had this backpack for a little over a year now, i bought it when i bought (surprise, surprise) my Alienware laptop. At first i was let down by its lack of capacity compared to my previous pack, but actually it's been nice. I had a lot of trouble with the size of the last backpack; i bumped into people a lot.I currently carry some medication in one side of the front and spare HDMI and ethernet cord in the other side. Then there is a compartment with lots of sleeves for pens, SD cards, USB thumbdrives, etc. I have many accessories in there, it is laid out nicely. The main compartment is just wide enough for a thin binder, a textbook, and a notebook. This could be a factor for you! In the back is the laptop area but there's enough space for the charger as well.
The backpack features a "scanfast" zipper so the entire pack can be opened like a clamshell and put flat on an x-ray conveyer belt. I frequently travel domestic and have some international travel too, it's not a universally recognized thing, even within the US. I always ask if it's okay, i suggest you do too.
I'm docking a star from the rating because of the pack's durability. It's been a year and a half of average use, and the bottom of the pack is splitting at the corners and there is fraying near the shoulder straps. There's also a strange fissure up the top of middle of the top of the pack, almost like a ridge of fraying. This backpack has been great but for $100 list-price, i should get more than a year and a half out of it. In comparison, the two bags i had before this one each cost ~$50 and each lasted 4 years.
