I was looking for something for my 17" laptop. Tried two other products one too tight and the other had a flimsy feel to it. Ordered this one and it was just perfect. Has protected my computer in various settings including lengthy air travel shoved under my seat, in and out during flight sometimes not very carefully. She went to school with it on August 22nd, 2011 (1st day of school) by August 24 the shoulder strap was coming off the bag! You may be wondering what in the world my daughter had in her bag! A composition note book, 1 math book, a 3 ring binder with about 50 pages of paper in it! It is not like she was carrying an elephant in it! This bag is not worth buying. Look for something else.

This bag is not meant to carry books, or anything else for that matter. It didn't last 2 weeks into the school year before the lining started to fray and the cheap strap attachments started ripping. My fouth grader had to carry her text books in her arms because the strap wasn't wide enough or offer enough support for her small frame. It may be affordable and pretty but it really isn't worth wasting your money on. I got this for my 1st grader two weeks before school started and we filled it with her school supplies. When school started it was filled with 2 folders, and at most 1 spiral notebook, not really heavy. She did not put anything in the flap part. All of her stuff was stored in the regular part of the bag. After 3 weeks of school the stitching around the darker pink areas started coming apart and along the underside of the top flap, obvious fraying. It looks new aside from the edges. Stalwart? Hiker's Backpack w/ 12 Pockets
I was pleasantly surprised by this backpack. It's great for day to day use if you're carrying clothes or other light loads around. The zipper in the back is especially helpful and was an addition I wish was on more back packs. The pack itself has plenty of pockets, and great space inside, the main problem is when you need to put more than about 7 pounds in it. The first time I really loaded it down, it was fine. The second, I noticed a small tear, but thought nothing lf it. Now I have a fist sized hole where the fabric has pulled apart from the stress of carying some of the weight I was putting in the pack. So pro'sdefinitely a cheap, great solution for a gym bag or a light user. Con's Not for serious hikers or any one who needs to walk a long dostance with a moderately heavy load.

Thus backpack soooo did not meet expectations. In less the two weeks, there is an irreparable tear a the seam of the outside pocket. Good looking backpack but it won't last long at this rate. Save your money.
Protec Slim Notebook/Tablet Messenger Brief
I bought this as a carrying case for my iPad 2. I wanted a pocket for the iPad with padding, along with an extra pocket to be able to carry a folder of papers or a small notebook. I also wanted to be able to carry the charger and have a pocket or two for other stuff, like pens and business cards. I picked this one because it seemed like it would fit my iPad with my Fieldfolio case on it -something many of the others I looked at would not do.Not only does this fill those expectations, but -get this -its big enough to carry my iPad while it is in a Fieldfolio AND my macbook 13" unibody (same size as macbook pro), AND chargers for both, some papers, AND a Moleskin, AND a myriad of other small items. Yet , its overall mass is probably a third of my main bag, a Brenthaven convertible that fits up to a 15" laptop.
I was skeptical about the brand, having never heard of it, but it seems they've been making musical instrument cases since the 70's and only recently ventured into laptop/electronics bags. It seems very well made and comes with a shoulder strap and a nice luggage ID tag. It has 2 hand straps one attached to each side of the bag, so it does not suffer from the hand carry strap balance issues I've read in reviews of some other messenger bags.
If I see any issues over longer term use, I'll update here. But this is a nice bag at what I consider a good price.

I was very excited about getting this at first-until I actually received it. I have had it for about two months now. The front pockets have literally separated from the seams, and I don't even put anything in them. The backpack is significantly smaller than I had expected, and hardly carries a notebook and a textbook. I had to put knots in the straps for them to be able to hold. The hardware is extremely chinsy. The hardware on the straps is bent and twisted. I am now not even halfway through the semester and I need to find a new backpack and wait to get it. If all you plan on carrying is a calculator and a pen, this is perfect for you. If you actually take stuff to school, find another option.

too small for today's HS school books. We had to return it. In the calculations we thought it was bigger but once it came in the calculations given add up space of the side pockets making it looked like it is bigger in the inside.I am a college student and I have just bought this a week ago. This bag gave me no problems yet and it is able to carry lot of my school books, including my tablet. I haven't experienced any ripping or tearing that other people had with this bag. I ordered this backpack for my 13yo. She loves it. Backpack seems well made and durable. Looks to be able to handle all her school stuff with no problems. My daughter is not your typical girly 13yo so going with this canvas stype backpack fits her just fine. Thus far. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great multi-use backpack

Some things to think about.1. It doesn't look as elegant/professional in real life as in the pictures.
2. Brook's photographers are very good.
3. I trust it's construction much more than a north face backpack, but slightly less than a proper timbuk2 bag.
4. my roommate took one look at it and said "that's a liberal art's professor's bag"
5. that's okay becuase it can carry a semester's worth of text books every day and manage to look only better after a year.
6. which is what you really need it for.
The canvas bag is made in China according to Brooks England website but it does not matter as the built quality is excellent. My only small complaint is that the bag is quite heavy (1.5 kg.) but given the leather, thick fabric straps and thick canvas justify the weight.
One strange thing is the size. I was suspecious when I received the bag because I ordered the medium size. The bag looks like a large size. So I made the measurement. It has 42 cm. wide and 30 cm. tall.
From official Brooks England website:
the medium is 34 cm. wide and 30 cm. tall.
the large one is 43 cm. wide and 33 cm. tall.
So mine looks like a hybrid model.I can't return it because I am in Thailand now and it's gonna be tricky to exchange for a new one.

I have a macbook air a kindle and a nintendo 3ds so i had to get a backpack that can fit all of my stuff, cables, chargers, collage notebooks, files, keys, wallet etc .. and this bag was perfect for me it has so many places to keep stuff and it seems like there is always a place for one more thing! it is comfortable and great while you travel plus it looks really unique and people tend to notice it and like it. the sleeves inside protects my devices and help me organise everything i can honestly say that this might be the best backpack ever made

The bag itself is a good bag, however, it would have been better to have either one long pocket in the front or two pockets itstead of three small pockets. It is hard to get your hand in the pockets to get anything out. I love LeSportsac but sometimes when you make changes to your products it is not for the best.

this is a very nice size backpack for carrying regular purse items along with lunch too for work each day. The leather is soft; yet sturdy and the backpack feels nice & light on my shoulders even when I overload it a times with soda cans :)Quick & easy to strap on when I get out of my car each morning.
There are 3 large and 2 small compartments/pockets inside for phone/credit cards, etc.

I love my new portfolio bag is very soft, elegant and serves to dress casually but by how elegant, this gives the leather and design are modern. The reason why I bought a bag like this is because the portfolios hurt me on the shoulder, being the weight on one side. with this bag I have not had that problem and do not hurt your shoulders and bear the weight better. The only drawback is the small and not easy access to things in space, if you're on the street and you put things or draw is somewhat complicated, it is only fair.
