JanSport Wavelength Laptop Backpack
I'm 71 and was looking for an inexpensive backpack to carry my laptop and all the stuff I need during a day, including a book or two, some work clothes, wallet, etc. This very basic pack, though I expect it won't last forever with the load I put in it, is entirely satisfactory. Not much structure to it, but it serves me very well.

Black Diamond Bandit Winter Pack - 690cu in
Black Diamond claims the pack only holds 11L. Maybe that's true, but it seems bigger-that or my old, old, old Camelbak from a decade ago was a lot smaller.I can't decide.
The ski carry works pretty good, just don't lose the top (detachable) strap. The pack opens up almost completely, almost "hinged" at the bottom, which is great for access, but too easy to dump all your crap in the snow by accident when searching for the one item you buried at the very bottom. The way the pack is shaped, the middle and top are a little tight, so bigger stuff very often ends up at the bottom.
Pockets are a weakness-there's one small exterior one and one bigger interior one, but not much in the way of useful pockets for smaller stuff otherwise.
I also have concerns about how waterproof it is on the bottom, but that might've been me being sloppy when filling my reservoir.
Aside from the lack of pockets, the other quibble is the reservoir pouch. It's sized for a 2L reservoir, which BARELY fits. The top cloth hook to hold the bladder is also cut a hair too short, which makes it difficult to unhook if you're in a rush and the bladder is still partially full. That could be fixed, and they could've sized the sleeve wider and taller for a 3L reservoir and still had room. Granted it's a small(ish) pack, but the option would've been nice. Also make sure your reservoir has an on/off switch for the bite valve, less you accidentally press on the sleeve and it leaks...
Honestly, it's a pretty good pack once you get used to its quirks. The sleek profile is nice, the size for a single day of skiing is about right, the ski carry works well. It just feels like Black Diamond could've used a little more refinement.
I highly recommend it with the following caveat: though it's described as "made in the USA" at an otherwise reputable retailer, it might not be; mine, bought from just such a retailer, was not made in the US.

This case is perfect. I just needed something streamlined to put my 11.6 Acer in, so that I could throw it in my bag without scratches. This case is perfect. It has straps inside and an oyster shell design so that the netbook can be used while in the case (though not for too long bc of overheating possibilities). The outer and inner pockets make the case extremely convenient, and I'm fairly certain this is the only case my netbook will ever need. The neoprene isn't overly thick, but I'm not planning on throwing my computer around recklessly, so I'm not looking for a battle-ready armored case. This case suits my needs exactly.

I bought this case for my 11.6" Acer Aspire One about a month and a half ago. The case protects my laptop really well, and the pockets are great for the accessories I have. I keep it in my backpack or carry it around for the most part, so I'm not sure if it would protect my laptop if I dropped it, but it's pretty cushioned. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. I only needed a case in order to carry my new Asus 11.7" laptop around. I wanted something cute. I wanted something soft. I wanted something small.This fit the bill perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased. The quality seems totally up to par. The front pockets look small, but it's neoprene, so they stretch like nylon. The cords, cards, mouse, and styluses fit inside the front pockets easily.
Do not, however, use your laptop while still in this case. It doesn't breathe.
Highly recommend for light use and storage.

THE NORTH FACE BOREALIS DAY PACK
I got this bag when I graduated from community college and transferred to the state college (go Vikings!) It lasted me 3 years there, plus a year of graduate school until I graduated with my Master's.I've had this bag for 9 years now (GASP! No WAY it is that long!?) and it still looks almost new! I can't believe how well it has held up. After college, it has gotten fairly regular use as an overnight bag, a weekend camping trip bag, a backpacking day pack on car camping trips, and most recently, to haul my son's toys & toddler paraphernalia when we go on overnight trips.
It worked great in terms of keeping my laptop (ancient iBook G4, oh man. I am a dinosaur.) safe and protected. And, going to school in sunny Portland, Oregon, it's rainproof capabilities were tested and found to be excellent. Stuff would occasionally get slightly damp when exposed to the downpour for extended periods of time, but nothing ever got SOAKED and no puddles. The side mesh pockets can hold a Nalgene.... but, buyer beware, I did snap the elastic cord in one of mine doing this once at school. That summer break I mailed it in to the excellent TNF warranty department who fixed it right up free of charge and I have not had a problem with it since.
I love how much stuff I can cram in this thing. It holds a SHOCKING amount of STUFF. It is a great multitasker the one bag to get the job done. I have other bags now for traveling of course an LL Bean Boat 'n Tote, a Le Sport Sac weekender... but nothing is quite as versatile as this puppy. Or easier to schlep around for airtravel. Can't beat those comfy straps, with the chest & hip straps for additional support to.
If you are looking for a backpack to last you a lifetime, this one is it.
We also use the backpack as a daypack for hiking. It has comfortable straps that go over the shoulders, a chest strap and a waist strap. I've had this backpack for I think 2 years now and use it every single day and it still looks nearly new (a few spots are a big scuffed, but seriously has held up amazingly well). Got to love the north face they make quality stuff.

I frequently fly with a small child. I was delighted to find such a big duffel that could be worn backpack style, leaving my hands free to carry him and push the stroller or pull the suitcase or whatever else you might need hands to do.It was even roomier than I imagined when it got here and fairly comfortable to wear as a backpack. We have purchased two of these bags and used them for our cars trips from Morocco to Spain and back. It is lightweight with sturdy construction and as you can see from the pictures it folds up very small. We have unfolded and folded this a number of times and have found it quite easy to do. The handles are nice and large; my wife has actually put this on her back a couple times when we use the duffel bags to pack bedding or towels and it fits quite comfortably on her back.When this this is fully loaded, it could definitely be quite heavy and hard to carry. I love this, it's super cute. It is a bit small, but easily fits a binder and a notebook. It also has many compartments for easy organization. LOVE IT and would recommend this to anyone.

I currently own a ASUS G73JW-XA1 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop Black (Republic of Gamers) and was looking for a backpack to protect and transport it, and bought the slappa spyder, which was very surprised with the quality of components, really nice job slappa did, the lining inside is cloth with good support for the laptop, its not a huge backpack like Targus XXL, but it can fit a 17'' fine, i even carried 2 laptops in one trip, and some accessories, the only downside but im not taking any stars is that my laptop is more like 18'' so its fits tight, i like it because its more secure, but the flap no longer closes, this might or not be an issue for you, but overall this backpack is really nice, probably the best craftsmanship i seen in a while in bags.
Very frustrated that I spent 100 dollars on a supposedly high quality backpack. Very inconvenient

I tried really hard to find a review or comments about this backpack because it had features that I really liked. I couldn't find any so I gave it a shot anyway. When it came in, I was very disappointed because it is tiny. I loved all of the features, particularly the places to put gear. If I could make it about 3 times bigger, then it would be exactly what I wanted. This would probably only fit comfortably on a 12 year old. I am not a very large guy, but I could not even wear the backpack over my shoulders and get it to close around my waist. If you are taking young kids skiing or hiking, then this would probably be a great pack. If you are an adult and want to be comfortable and fit much of anything in your pack, then definitely look elsewhere. Small and Pricey backpack that is actually only a good carry all pocketbook. I had bought it for my wife for getaway weekends: too small for anything other than carrying the same things that fit in a pocketbook plus a book or magazine. The only saving grace is that the leather is of fine quality and very sturdy.

Another moonie review from me ^-^This item is really striking and beautiful. Mercury would have to be my third favourite scout/soldier and it is nice she is getting some merchandise. I do like this a lot and it closes ok. I'm a little puzzled why the disguise pen is used as a background in the back though? Couldn't they use Mercury's first transformation henshin pen? I do like the diamond print though, they done this with one of the wallets too. It gives off a nice effect. I'm still really puzzled by the 'Green hair' Mercury thing on all the latest merchandise though. She has BLUE hair, not GREEN!
I really like the blues and how around Mercury it says "I'll punish you in the name of Mercury!" plus her scout bow and the pose she is pulling is when she is about to blast someone with 'Mercury bubblessss!!" which is really cool.
The material is actually quite nice, I think it will last a long time. You just need to keep it clean and away from chemicals and be careful not to chip or peel the graphic print.
Overall I think the bag is lovely. You could even wear it as a backpack! I wouldn't put too much items in the bag though, it's not the strongest sort of material

I was really impressed with this bag when it showed up. I gave it 5 stars because now that I have it, I wouldn't want any other bag!The canvas that it's made out of is super thick and durable. All the seams seem to be stitched rather well. There are a ton of pockets on this thing too. There is a zipper pocket on top of the flap (and the pocket is as big as the flap), you open the flap and you have two large pockets on the front with flaps that snap, those two pockets are attached to a large pocket which is attached to the main compartment, and then another large pocket on the back of the bag. Bonus is that it even came with it's own ruler!
I bought the bag to keep my knitting projects & supplies handy, but I could easily use this for my laptop, or school (if I was in school), or even an overnight bag. I'd buy another if I needed one!
We purchased this Rothco bag in black, model # 8118. A single buckle over each front pocket holds a velcro strip in place, which secures the bag closed. It is not the same canvas weight nor craftsmanship as the original Danish bag, but is a good value for the purchase price. It is a nice looking bag and has all the amenities of the Danish bag (shoulder strap, top handle, zip around expandable sides and bottom, loads of inside pockets, top zipper pocket and a ruler inside an interior slip pocket a dual purpose item which is also used to keep the top flat and in shape. The only fault found was that the shoulder strap could be a bit longer.
If you're looking for an all purpose canvas messenger bag to use in lieu of a briefcase, I (we) would recommend this bag by Rothco.
