Expandable and good space holds my laptop and workout clothes. But cushioning is minimal for laptop and fabric is not as thick as some other messenger bags. Satisfactory bag for the price.
UPDATE I have now had this bag for 6 months, taking it to work every day. Still no problems. Today I packed my 17" HP Pavilion, a book, a 3 ring binder, several cables, pens, external hard drive, ... And I still have room to spare. I agree with another review that there is very little padding but I am ok with this.

Messenger bag? I think not. No padding. No compartments. Just a lightweight sack that does NOT hold a 17" laptop; at least not mine. Very disappointing. Almost gave it 2 stars, but when I thought about it, was only worth 1. You won't find a messenger carrying one of these.Not up to SwissGear quality. Going back to Amazon.

It looked just like in the picture. When I received it, I thought it was fake, because I have another jansport, a black one, and the fabric wasnt the same.I did some research, and found out that the 9EZ you see in the title, is for ECONOMIC ZONE, which means its authorized and supervised by jansport with the original material, but it wasnt made by the jansport factory.
I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THESE MIGHT BE FAKE, BECAUSE I NOTICED THE STITCHES THAT HOLD THE STRAPS WITH THE REST OF THE BACKPACK ARE VISIBLE, AND I THINK THEY SHOULDNT BE.
But well, Im not an expert, so I dont really know. One thing is for sure, the material from my new backpack is less soft compared to my old bag, as well as the straps that are a bit uncomfortable. Im buying my next jansport at the official website, that way I can be sure.

I have been using this bag for about two years. So far so good. It holds a lot and is ideal for a student that needs to carry a few binders, notebooks, textbooks & other materials. The bag is light and thin and has not torn up on me. For the price, it's a good choice. Only problem is that I usually throw pencils at the bottom of the bag when I'm in a rush & I have stabbed myself with the .5 mm tip of a lead pencil multiple times.. It's a nice bag and good size. I've had it for about 5 months now. It's not water proof (just an FYI). Rain leaks in pretty easily. Also, the front compartment zipper goes off track alot could be just mine, but just thought I'd mention it.

Tumi Luggage Dror Messenger Bag
I bought this bag from a local Tumi store in August (4mo. ago). Its obviously pricey ($495 when I got it), but its a very well constructed and stylish bag. I've received 3 unprompted compliments for its style, and I have no complaints about its construction. Aside from style, the big advantage is that the bag can unzip on the side to expand. I've found this really handy. I can pack it full when I need, but most days it is zipped close, which makes it easier to manage and takes up less room.The laptop area holds my iPad, though loosely. I don't have a laptop, so I can't speak to how well or what size works.
The back has a smaller pocket that closes with a single magnet. I've found its useful for light paperwork. It also has a zipper along the bottom so the bag can be slid onto the expanding handlebar of rolling luggage.

Perfect!I just bought this backpack and I love it! It was comfortable from the moment I put it on.
It's cute, the design is true to the photo, but it was not NEARLY as sturdy as i was expecting it to be, nor breathable. And the straps are super stiff and SO uncomfortable if you get any weight more than a few spiral notebooks in it...
I think I'll just stick to my ripped up NorthFace backpack...
Wish I had tried it out before I took the tags off so I could return it.

Started falling apart in less than two weeks.This was a birthday present and I was SO happy with the bag. The size, quality, pattern...everything was perfect.
Except two weeks into using it I noticed some threads that hold the zipper at the base were coming lose.
One week after and the threads are all gone.
I have been in midterms these past two weeks so did not have time to log in and ask for a return until this morning and even though the bag is falling apart, because I did not return in one month (past deadline by 4 days), I am now stuck with a backpack that did not last TWO weeks.
I have no words to say how unbelievably disappointing I am. So much for the quality guaranteed of Dakine.
I wish Amazon or Dakine would contact me to offer me a replacement, this is unbelievable.

I was looking for a backpack for college so it needed to carry a 14 inch laptop, one large and heavy textbook, a notebook, and miscellaneous things without turning me into a turtle.
This is perfect!
It does not have a separate pocket for laptops but that is fine, I always carry mine in a sleeve and the back of the pack is padded anyway.
I love how compact it is, the bungee cord to tie my sweater, the padded straps, and the sunglass pocket.
I highly recommend it!

It's canvas, it's black, it's a backpack. There's not really a whole lot to say about it, in my opinion. It works for what I need, I find it comfortable, and it's very roomy. I used it as my carry-on luggage for a recent weekend trip and it performed quite well.The only thing I can think to note about this pack is that it is a giant lump of cloth. There is nothing to give it any sort of shape or frame, save for what you put in it. So if the pack isn't full, it can sit rather limply and may pose an issue for whatever you are attempting to haul. A laptop, for example, would be a nightmare in this thing unless you had lots of other stuff to keep it from moving around.

If I had to say one critical thing it's that the item description is more accurate to the color than the picture. It looks almost brown in the picture, but it is definitely black (which is what i wanted anyway). ...lunch box is a bit small. My son loves wearing his backpack with all of his things inside. It's a great size for him and stays on pretty well. He's taken the backpack on a couple of plane rides, we get a lot of comments and he loves showing it off. Eagle Creek Travel Gear Undercover Money Belt
I'm going on a two week trip to Europe: Barcelona, France, Italy, etc & I heard horror stories about all the Gypsy pickpockets so I decided to get this just in case. I was debating this one or the more popular larger version that had over 100 reviews, this only had one review. This money belt is very well made, very light & thin & the front is made of parachute nylon so very strong, the back is a soft mesh, the belt is a standard elastic belt that is stretchy. This is made in Vietnam which is way preferable to made in china or Taiwan, I've noticed clothes & other items made in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Egypt is very well made. There was absolutely no loose threads inside or outside, most items you turn inside out & there is loose threads everywhere & I have to use a lighter to burn all the threads. The only downside is this money belt is small. It will hold a passport (with leather case) in the back compartment & money (dollars or larger euros) in the front compartment, that is it. If you are planning to use it to carry phone, lighter, gum, whatever, forget it, this will hold passport & money only. I kinda like that since other items would make this bulky & will sag anyway. I'll just carry the phone, lighter, cigarettes, etc in my pants pockets. Overall this is cheap insurance against those pick pockets.

I have used this on two trips and it is still lasting. Unfortunately sometimes with my passport in it, it will show under my clothes. I definetly like this better than the undercover neck wallet, but it was also a hassle trying to get things out of it in the airport, and people could see everything I had in it.
High Sierra Mayhem Backpack
I compared 4 High Sierra backpack models: Mayhem (this model), Neo High Sierra Neo Backpack,AccessHigh Sierra Access Backpack, and Incline High Sierra Incline Backpack. I'm a 5'2" woman. For my uses (carryon for travel/day hikes), I selected the Neo model, but this model was a close second. If they'd change the yoke style shoulder straps to 2 single shoulder straps, offer it in the Purple print, add a back access zipper, make shoulder pouch larger, and eliminate the rivets, it would be a perfect pack. The Yoke style straps tend to dig into the back of my neck unless I keep the pack at a lower position. All 4 packs had tags indicating that they could hold a 17" laptop. The Access and Incline could not hold my Dell 17" Inspiron, but this one could. All 4 packs had pouches in the shoulder straps. The only pack that could hold my iphone in an otterbox case was the Neo model. Three of the models including this one, had a larger and probably more durable zippers than the Incline model. The padding on the bottom seems the same on all models. The raincover on the Access provides some extra padding when the raincover is in the hidden pouch. The padding on the backs of the packs seem to be about the same. I didn't use the packs, so I can't comment on the ventilation/airflow materials at the back of the packs.Pros:

Cons:
Comes only in purple, not purple print fabric (very nice) like other models
Yoke style straps dig into the back of my neck. This model has straps that are further apart, so less comfortable for a smaller person.
Pouch on shoulder strap (5"x3") fits iphone without case, not with case.
Does not have Back access zipper for getting laptop in/out of pack
Has decorative rivets on pack. Concerned that they will catch on something and put hole in pack or rip fabric.

This bag is great. It has tons of space, lots of pockets to organize things, and is a beautiful color (although it does get dirty easily). I bought this for my 15.4" Toshiba laptop, and let's just say, its a tight fit. I basically have to shove the computer in there. The description says it fits up to 15.4" laptops but just know, its really meant for a smaller size laptop, as mine just barely fits.

This bag is roomy thats a plus.It fits most anything I need. The problem is the strap is too long (maybe bc im short) and the top flap comes open often. I would preffer a bag I can grab and go and I have trouble with the long strap and opening top flap when i grab out of my car from drivers seat.Really like this bag. It is a great size. I used it in addition to a carry on bag to hold my laptop, novel (a large hardcover book), wallet and more when flying. There's enough room for my computer, my notebook, and my charger in the main compartment, but not much else.
The pockets in the front aren't quite as big as I would like them.
Bag itself is a little heavy (not super heavy, but enough that the extra weight is noticed when carrying it).
Overall, very minor cons, major pros. Would certainly recommend, especially for a slightly smaller computer since there would be more available room.
