They have a strange smell to them they has not gone away. If not for the smell then they would be good little bags.

Funny thing about this suitcase...looks great. But once you pack it up and try to roll it away, it falls over. We have two of these and one is fine and the other has the handle on the bottom in the wrong place, make it not able to stand up..annoying. Color is very nice and looks pretty sturdy. I bought it (after looking at many suitcases) because I wanted a very light suitcase that would work for carry-on. I received it a day before our travel. If I had more time, I might of returned it, since the handle is a bit awkward pushing down after it is up. Plus, we found out it doesn't stand up when fill. Yet, we used it on one trip to and from Mexico and so far it has held up okay for carry on. It was easy to fit in the overhead bin space.
You may be asking, "If you love this pack, why didn't you give it 5 stars?" Well...I'm not infatuated with it. In a way love can be defined as accepting someone despite of their shortcomings or flaws. That being said, I do think that there are some things about this pack that are not perfect but there are so many things about it that work so well.

Fits great, very comfortable. Used it on a trip to Havasupai, a 10 mile hike into the campground in the Grand Canyon. It was our first trip of this type. Pack worked great and had plenty of room for my stuff. Any bigger and I would fall over since I am only 5 feet tall. These backpacks are the perfect size for a trip to the park or to use on a cruise for day excursions. Quality was very good and the reinforced tabs at the bottom keep the strings from pulling out due to weight.

pack is nice and lightweight. Strings could be a little longer so they aren't so tight around the arms for an adult. But love the color.

I was amazed to find a full-size Thomas backpack for so cheap! It came just a few days after I ordered it. I really like that there is more room in this bag than the smaller Thomas backpack we have had for several years. It would be nice if it had another pouch on the outside to put small things in. I got him the swiss gear messanger bag becouse it is not wide it is nerrow so it fits under the seat in the plane. I got this bag to lug my 15" Mac Book Pro back and forth to work. Unfortunately, the MBP is a little longer than the bag is tall so it extends above the bag a little. Regardless, the "lid" of the bag has no problems covering everythign up and the strap is long enough to keep everything in place.
I recently used this luggage for a weekend getaway. At first I thought it won't carry that much and was thinking to instead use the 20 inch. But I needed one right away and this 17 inch happened to arrive first. Anyway, this did not disappoint! I was able to pack 3 pairs of pants, 2 light sweaters, 2 shirts, a pair of pajamas, a pair of shoes, a hair dryer, several pieces of underwear and socks, toiletries and my kindle and the cord, which fit perfectly in the outside pocket. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars was because it seemed to scratch easily. I travelled by car nad there were already a few scratches on the plastic side. I am thinking of ordering the same style 28 inch bag and am a little worried now of using it for international travel. I hope it won't get so scratched up when checked in.

its a great case protects against water but the strapes to carry it are on the inside so if you want ot carry it you have to leave the top open and i havent tried it because in scared to drop my laptop like that but i carry mine in my bookbag and i keep the strapes inside anyways but if you want to carry by the handles dont get this bag.
This is a relatively hard case that will protect against scratches. It may provide some small small level of shock protection, but I would not depend on that. I returned it because of that reason.

Described on Amazon site and on manufacturer's product packaging as suitable for a 15-inch MacBook Pro. My 15-inch mid-2012 conventional (non-Retina) MacBook Pro simply would not fit -the case is too 'slim' to accommodate the MacBook's modest thickness. With considerable care and effort I could get one zipper slider past one corner of the MacBook, but I could not maneuver the second slider past the MacBook's other corner. As with most Dakine products this bag is well designed and well made. At 90 liters, there is plenty of room for a week or two's worth of clothes or sports gear. The two end compartments and inner mesh pockets in the main compartment help to keep things organized. The retractable handle and wheels work well. I would buy this again.
