Skip Hop Zoo Pack Little Kid Backpack

The backpack itself is adorable. I got it for my daughter who is in Kindergarten and she loves it. The only problem, and it is a significant one, is that it's not big enough to hold a single standard 8.5"x11" size folder. Which is quite disappointing for both of us. She really wants to wear it to school, but can't because her homework folder won't fit. If they would have made it just a couple of inches larger, the folder would fit perfectly and it would probably be the best backpack ever. That couple of inches difference makes it unusable for us.

If you don't need to fit anything in there that's as large as an unfolded sheet of standard size paper in there, I would recommend this backpack.

This bag is super cute and seems well-made but it is small... I bought it for preschool for my 4-year old but I would say it's more appropriate for a toddler sleepover bag or something along those lines. It is much too short to fit a folder and you'd have to fold up a piece of paper or art project to fit it inside. He loves it so I think I'll keep it but I might have to buy a different one for preschool. If I had bought it as a toddler carryabout bag I would have given it 5 stars for that purpose!

I bought the dog backpack for my two year old son. He's about 35" tall and it's still slightly big for him, but at least it will last him a while. It's absolutely adorable and it's perfect for short trips. It holds a few diapers, some wipes, a toy and a snack with no problem. One of my favorite features is the cupholder on the side for sippy cups. I was initially a little worried about the material because it is so light in color. I figured it would be filthy in no time, but to my surprise, it wipes clean very easily. I looked at a lot of toddler backpacks before I bought this one and I'm happy with my purchase.

I love this cute little back pack. My son is 1 and we use it to carry his daily supplies back and forth to daycare and as a substitute diaper bag. He likes the bright colors and he knows it's his bag. We get lots of compliments on it where ever we go. It's the perfect size for a toddler and the straps are adjustable. It's sturdy and well made, and though it's on the small side, it holds just the right amount of stuff, (which for us is a lot since I'm an over-packer anyway). The name-tag inside didn't bleed and run when I wrote my son's name on it like most fabric tags do. The front pocket is great for the things you need more frequently like kleenux, and small toys, and it has a loop you can hook your keys onto. The side pouch is the perfect fit for a sippy cup. I so glad I got this; I just ordered the matching lunchbox and if I'm half as happy with it as I am with this backpack I'll be really pleased.

Two weeks after I posted this review, and after barely 2 months of use, the zipper for the main compartment broke. I was heartbroken. I searched everywhere for the receipt so I could call for a possible replacement, but no luck. I spent an hour trying to repair it, which to my amazement, I eventually did, but now I feel that it's fragile and I'm waiting for it to break again. So I wanted to add this warming. Do not over-pack and stretch the zipper, it's only plastic and will stretch and bend. Keep an eye on the teeth as you can see them separating and that is your warning of impending breakage.

I know this is made for little kids, but if I was the maker of this product I think that I would use a metal zipper for the main compartment as they are stronger and can take a lot more abuse than a plastic one.

I still love and would recommend this product, I'd just be a little more careful with it.

It's now been 9 months since I repaired the zipper and I haven't had a single problem with it since then. And, we LOVE the lunch box just as much as the backpack.

We've all gone through the range of backpacks in our lives. In today's age of technology, we require a lot more from our backpacks. And it's still not enough to just have a slot for a laptop. There must be padding around the laptop area and on the bottom. There must be protection from the other objects in your backpack. And there must be structure to the bag itself so that you don't have to worry every time you set the backpack down. The MICROSOFT RAINIER is hands down the best backpack ever made.

I'm a film student and I often have to carry my Macbook Pro 15, an external hard drive, big headphones, a couple textbooks, keys, pens, ipod, BPA free water bottle, and other accessories. The Rainier has enough pockets (and not too many) organized in a way where you instinctually know where to look for whatever you're looking for. This will truly be your best friend at work or school. When I set the Rainier down, it sits upright (just like in the photo) at your side like man's other best friend. All your gear is not sitting on top of each other.

Swissgear, Belkin, Booq, Brenthaven, Ogio make good bags. None of their bags can compete with this one. If I lost my Rainier and Microsoft jacked up the price of this one to $200, I'd still buy it.

And... it's not as geeky in person as it looks in the photo.

Recommendation:

I would not recommend this pack due to the weakness of delicate zippers used to secure essential compartments.

Pros:

The bag is well designed/organized. The overall size permits many different items to be stored securely and conveniently. There is ample padding to protect your fragile devices. Light rain did not penetrate the contents during messy weather.

After less than six months one of the zippers came apart rendering the backpack useless. If you purchased this pack use care in handling/using the zippers as they are delicate and will come apart. If one of the zippers that secure a main compartment fails, the pack will be made useless for its intended purposes. No sternum strap to better secure a load when walking fast or over rough terrain.

Appearance:

My personal preference is to have a backpack that does not suggest to criminals, 'Hey guys look, the laptop is in here, come and get it!' which this pack effectively does with its bright orange zipper pulls that shout out the Microsoft brand name. Instead I would recommend a design that mimics a daypack used for trekking.

Comparison: Microsoft Rainier vs. SwissGear Computer Backpack (Black):

I recently switched to a SWISSGEAR model and have noticed by comparison the materials used are more rugged (heavy-duty). The SwissGear pack, more than adequate for my purposes, can easily accommodate a 15" laptop but overall was less roomy than the Microsoft Rainier. The SwissGear pack is more adjustable with better pulls and side panel cinch straps to secure contents, important if you have to walk a long distance, or have reason to traverse uneven or difficult terrain on foot. SwissGear also includes a sunglasses loop and a small enclosed compartment (big enough to hold a slim-line digital voice recorder or pocket knife) on the shoulder straps. Neither pack had a sternum strap.

I just bought this to replace a notebook back pack I have had for 8 years. I like that tis is a lot lighter and more stylish, but there is a flaw that really annoys me, a lot. I do not pick up the back pack, swing it over the center of my back and then insert both arms into the straps to use to shoulders and my back to carry it. I tend to fling one side of it over one shoulder only and walk from my car to the coffee shop or work, or back to the car. My last back pack had a rubberish underside to the straps, so they sort of gripped my shoulder, keeping it sort of in place. This back pack has a mesh like material that does not grip at all, in fact seems to glide rght off like teflon. So I put it over my shoulder and walk no more than 5 steps and it had slid off my shoulder onto my arm, which is annoying and if carrying coffee, causes it to spill. If only the unit had a non-slip material on the underside of the straps it would be perfect.

Overboard Waterproof 25L Backpack Yellow

I purchased this backpack believing it was water resistant and durable enough to keep some clothing dry while we were riding wave runners/Jet Ski during our vacation. However in just one use we found the strip/seem that joins the front and back panels came apart. Despite the fact we only stored flip-flops a couple of shorts, polo shirts and towels it didn't keep our clothing items dry. Apparently, the thin coating in these rubberized seems aren't very durable and or are of very poor construction.

From the reviews and for the price I thought I was getting a good value; but, at least from my experience , I definitely would not recommend this item!

So far I've used this waterproof backpack for one hiking excursion and it was fine. I've also used it for carrying items to & from work on public transportation on heavy downpour days without a problem. One things to note: there is no no outer zipper. There is only a zipper for the inside flap pocket. If having an outside zipper is crucial to you do not purchase this item. To close the bag, you have to roll the top edges of the bag together downward and then snap close the side closures on each side of the bag. There is a triangular-shaped reflector on the lower front portion of the bag, which is a help when walking at night so that drivers can see you easily when you are crossing the street. The shoulder straps are well padded and very comfortable. Very easy to adjust. The bag is very deep inside (26 inches) and I was able to put two blankets and numerous items inside with no complications. The zippered inner flap pocket is 12 inches deep. There a 7-inch deep web pocket on each side of the bag. Good for placing water bottles. The material of the bag is a rubberized type. The WSRS (Waterproof Store Rating System) waterproof rating for this bag is Class 3. Bag capacity is 25 liters. A full-color instruction card comes with the bag, provides photo instructions for closing the bag.

Comfortable straps! It has two extra straps that buckle in the center to hold it straight and secure. Stays put during the ride and doesn't wobble around.

Seals nicely at the top. You roll the top down a few times and either buckle it together or onto the sides. I was a little hesitant about the seal, but it works out great. Makes it easy to get in & out and Kept all my items dry.

From the photo I didn't realize how big this backpack it is. It would have helped to have a manechin wearing this backpack to fully understand the size. I wanted a water proof light small backpack to wear it everytime I go on the shore from the boat, but this one is way too big and super heavy. I had to return it.

This 25L is really a good fit for me and my activities. Overboard apparently don't market this size anymore. So finding this one was great. These backpacks aren't loaded with pockets and compartments. Just basically one big compartment inside. It does have a smallish interior pocket. Good for keys, glasses etc. The wide padded shoulder straps and back support makes for a comfortable carry of your gear. Snorkel/scuba/boat trips, beach activities or hikes in inclement weather are what this pack was made for.

It may be a kind of niche product. But it fills that wet, dusty, sandy niche well.

Took with us on an extended trip to south america, to come with us on dive boats while scuba diving and keep our stuff dry. Our gear remained dry, but one of the side handles (not the pack straps) ripped the second day. The pack was not overfilled by any measure, so we were disappointed that bag had handles so flimsy.

I have had this product for two months. I commute by bicycle, and I use a BOB trailer. The dry bag has held up very good. I have been in very heavy rain and my clothes have stayed dry.The dry bag has held up very well through daily use.

I purchased this for canyoneering, but it only lasted one day.

The good:

It keeps belongings completely dry as advertised. I like that the straps adjust on both ends, top and bottom, to make for a more comfortable fit. While canyoneering in Zion NP, scuff marks were inevitable, but they were minor and it held up pretty well in that regard. Good price.

The bad:

I think in an attempt to keep the bag waterproof, the backpack straps are attached to the bag without any perforations, making the attachment weak. I did not overload the bag, yet one of the straps (upper left) began to rip from the bag after just a few hours of hiking. The rip slowly grew throughout the day and I was lucky to finish my hike without the strap detaching completely.

My suggestion is to find a way to attach the straps more securely. Maybe use perforations, then seal them well. I really like this bag, but need something more rugged.

Lewis N Clark Uncharted DryGear Day Pack (40-Litre)

I have received, and returned, two of these DryGear Day Packs now due to the same issue: open seams.

The first bag had a 2 inch open (i.e. not waterproof) seam where the outer pocket was welded to the main compartment. The second pack had a huge 5 inch open seam on the main compartment's side, guaranteeing flooding of everything you need to keep dry.

To me this looks like a manufacturing defect in addition to poor Quality Control as these bags should never have left the factory.

If for some reason you still decide to order one of these bags make sure to immediately check all seams.

This bag was a quality buy, though I wish it were a bit bigger. The dry zipper compartment actually works really well! I use this bag as my motorcycle travel bag in a rather wet and windy region so if you're looking for a nice day bag to keep your items dry from the weather, this is a good recommendation.

Kelty Basecamp Duffel Bag

I bought the large size duffel to stick in my carry on luggage -about the size of a football when compacted downand I will check it on my way back. I am planning on buying a ton of stuff on my trip to Latin America.

Large is 61 cubic inches and will be able to check up to 62 cubic inches so that will work fine for me.

To give you an idea of how large this bag is, I tested it out by putting my wife's roll on carry on in this duffel and that was after dumping the contents into this bag. Her luggage was not that full and the duffel was just barely able to take it, but it did. Her bag Dimensions: L20" x W14" x H9"

Anyway the duffel demsions are:

This is a perfect simple duffle bag. Nothing fancy. The one zippered pocket it front is pretty small. I ordered the large, which is super roomy. The only complaint I might have is that it is pretty flimsy. No flat support on the bottom. The shoulder strap is nice and padded if the bag gets real heavy.

You can fill it full of bricks and throw it out of a speeding vehicle, then tumble it down the side of a mountain and then drop it off a cliff and smash the bricks inside and this bag will still last longer than you will. You will pass this bag down to your great-grandchildren if they want it. You can fit a ton of stuff in this pack. This pack has one extra-large compartment, one medium compartment in the middle, and one small compartment in the front. There are no internal compartments except for the hydration system compartment in the extra large compartment(against your back) for your camelbak hydration system, and there is an opening under the top strap(handle) to fit the mouthpiece through (that you will have to cut open to make wide enough). There is also a load-bearing waist strap, and chest strap across the shoulder straps, all buckles and straps are solid. I got this right before I left for my summer abroad program. After a month of use, it has held up to everything. I use it ever day for class, day trips to the beach, on hikes, and overnights. Fits comfortable my computer, DSLR and camera bag, notebook, textbooks, 1 liter of water, and whatever else I need that day. The simple three pocket design works perfectly, I always know that my bag is secure walking in crowds or stuffing into public transportation. The extra straps have been nice, just tie down what I need to for easy access. Wear and tear, none so far. The shoulder straps have no wear, unlike my last pack which started to show signs of stress after a month use.

Update, few months later. Still holding up strong. Again, I use this everyday for class. Heavy loads with laptop, six or seven text books plus what every else I need for class. Or light days with just a notebook. Really appreciate how the straps on the side are able to adjusted pretty tight. Useful when I skate, less resistance for when I am tucking and bombing down hills. Molle is perfect, I am able to strap small radio pouch that fits my Canon Powershot S100 snugly, I always like to keep a camera on hand. I highly recommend this pack.

I'll start by saying that this is a solid backpack. It is sewn together well, and I have not had any trouble with loose strings, or anything falling apart. This backpack can be used for skaters who need a place to put their board, general use, or even a laptop backpack.

Personally, I use this backpack for work so I constantly carry a laptop. There is a good amount of padding in the laptop slot, although there is not a strap over the laptop slot, which shouldn't matter unless you plan on hanging upside down. It securely holds your laptop in place.

My husband and I bought this backpack when it was the Deal of the Day about 3 months ago. I have never been so happy with a backpack in my entire life! I was student teaching this semester, and I had A LOT of things to lug around. This backpack made it so convenient to carry my laptop, multiple binders and folders, lunch, and miscellaneous items such as wallet, chapstick, sunglasses, etc, to and from school! The various pockets make it easy to store and arrange everything you need. I highly recommend this backpack!

I bought this laptop bag (or one very much like it) in 2008. It held up great until this year when my husband started using, walking 4 miles a day 5 days a week with it. Now the zippers have failed and I'm prepared to buy it again.

I think the audio pocket is silly I keep my iPod in my pocket so I can adjust it or change without having to take the pack off and dig for it, but that's just me.

First off, I have been using this for two months now on a daily basis.

1. Holds my 15.6" laptop with the usual accessories like the laptop charger and your mouse etc.

2. Comfortable to wear it with all my stuff in it. Doesn't pull on you or stick to your back and cause you to sweat.

3. Has a lot of add-on features like the sunglass holder, a key ring on the front pouch, ipod holder (music player).

4. Highly recommended for anyone who has to carry a laptop to work and it looks good on your back.

I have 15.6' computer which is a pain to lug about and very hard to find a good quality case for. This bag is perfect, chic, cute, and fits all my other knick knacks. I carry it everyday and still looks brand new! :)

I absolutely love this bag! I use it for a 13" MacBook and it works perfectly. The hard shell makes me feel comfortable carrying my laptop around without additional protection. There is limited pocket space available -enough room for a cell phone, charger, or similarly sized items.

This is a beautiful, well constructed laptop bag but I found it to be too small for my 15 inch laptop. Maybe it was my mistake, but the measurements stated in the description are 17x12x2.5 inches so I thought that my 15 inch laptop would have plenty of room. Well, those measurements are outside dimensions not inside which are actually 16 x 11...one inch smaller in both directions. I can barely get the bag zipped and there is absolutely no room for any accessories such as a charger or mouse. As much as I love the bag, it will be going back.

I chose this for a roughly 17" wide laptop mainly because I have Vera Bradley items already and this print is very cute. However, the case is not thick enough for my big battery on my laptop so in order for it to fit I must put the big end at the top but it won't zip all the way shut. it works though so i would recommend it if you don't have a battery that protrudes a lot.

Dakine 20-Litre Heli Pro DLX Pack

I have wanted a snowboarding/Ski backpack for some time but all the local shops never carried something that quite fit what I wanted. This backpack is exactly what I wanted. Rugged clips, straps, padding where it needs to be, proper aesthetics, and some great features. My one and only complaint is that the Charcoal color is completely misleading online. The backpack is a much brighter gray than indicated in the picture. Unfortunately im big on color matching so i was a bit upset but either way this product is wonderful!

Built to last, but it's a bit heavy. Great for sking or biking, not so great as a day hiker.

I got this specifically to carry my snow shoes; I wear Atlas 830 shoes. This pack accommodates these just fine. I like how the zippers are accessible when the shoes are strapped on (to the sides). I have a pack for warmer weather so cannot comment on usefulness beyond my specific purpose. There is plenty of room, belly straps are LONG so I need to cut them (and burn ends).

I wanted a lightweight backpack with brandname quality. Swiss Gear SA1722 is it !

Two large storage areas are more than enough for a large notebook, school stuff. Outside mesh pockets for the

water bottle and whatever. Nicely padded straps. Embroidered "Swisss Gear" is a nice touch.

I just received this and it is nice in just about every way (lightweight, looks, etc.), except the straps do NOT adjust easily, which takes away from the whole thing a bit. I'll see if they get easier in time, but right now it is pretty much a two handed operation (one to hold the tab, one to pull the strap). Too bad because otherwise it is perfect for what I need (light, non-laptop, non-huge everyday type backpack).

This was hand's down the best bag I've ever owned. I began a new career as an Over the Road truck driver and wanted something that would hold everything I needed to take on the road for weeks at a time.. 5 sets of clothing, sleeping bag, sheets, laundry, toiletry kit bag, tennis shoes, 1st aid kit, survival gear... you name it, it holds it all. And then collapses flat if you unpack it and need to store it in a closet. Sturdy and Strong, thick canvas material can take a beating and not wear out. No wheels, but considering there's a pouch underneath that holds shoulder-straps you can carry it as a Backpack as well. I couldn't be more pleased the decision to get this bag. Have a feeling it will last the rest of my life (as long as someone doesn't steal it for being too awesome).

Huge bag with plenty of storage. Very well made. Some of the pockets don't make sense, like the one on the top middle. Good for a lighter or something very small, but not sensible on a bag like this. All in all I put over 100 pounds of gear in it and it holds strong.

Fantastic bag with ample storage fo whatever you plan to do. Works well for tac gear, hunting, and would also be a good adventure gear bag for such things as climbing,scuba, or any travel. Backpack straps work well though you better be strong to haul this bag because the ample room does make it heavy and bulky.
