The bag seems of good quality for the price, I really like the look and feel of it. Its really light. However, the laptop sleeve will only fit a 15" barely. I ordered this because I have had laptop bags in the past that were for 15/16" laptops and could fit a 15.4/15.6" laptop well. This one will not.

I bought this for my son to wear during 3rd grade last year. It was rather expensive, but a fantastic buy none the less. Everybody notices this thing and remarks how much they like it. In 3rd grade, where clothes just aren't that important to 8 year old boys, this is a real attention getter. The backpack is solid construction and very simple. There is only the main storage area, and only a few small side pockets. The zipper works well and the straps are sturdy. No need to buy a new back pack this year as my son will be wearing this again in 4th grade.

Saw this book bag on some kids in Manhattan, My first impression was, this is the coolest book bag I have ever seen. A few days later I searched it on Amazon and found it. It came in about dozen different colors, including pink (cool). I had to have one for my 5 year old boy who is starting kindergarten in the fall. He picked the color, a bit darkish burgundy. It was free shipping and I received the item in two days. This bag is the coolest thing I have seen, its got room for his books and everything he may need for school. It has a see through window where you can insert a label with name and address. Looks very well made, of course we have not send the boy to school and see how the wear and tear is, but it looks like leather, and feels like leather, and its very light as well. I NEVER carried a diaper bag. When my son was pre-sippy cup, pre-snacks I just carried a slightly larger purse... But he outgrew that at about 6 months and I needed another option.I was going back and forth between this one, a Stephen Joseph (non-signature) backpack, or a Skip-Hop. They are all so darn cute! I got the dinosaur (wanted the monsterbut I went with DH's wishes on this one!) Signature Collection backpack. I am so glad that I got the signature collection backpack because it holds SO much without being bulky or stiff (such as the skip-hop). It holds with the drawstring top closing completelya change of clothes, two diapers, a package of wipes, a water bottle, two formula packets, a squeezy food packet, spoon, bib, a snack dispenser thingy, a sippy cup, a toy or two, my cell phone and keys. I can also put a jacket, mittens and hat in there and still get the flap snapped closed but with a little gap under the flap. I frequently just put this on as a back pack. The straps are adjustable. I can imagine that this would be a little large for a toddler to carry. If I were getting it for him to carry in a year or two, I might have to go with the smaller one. :/ Can't test that out, DS is not yet mobile!

My son (7 years old) likes it. I do not like it but my opinion is not very important. The backpack is light and wide enough. My son puts in it different cars plus 2 small juices and 2 cakes. In general, cute, with good quality materials. However, if you look at the photo closely, you will see that the top flap looks off-center. I did notice that myself, and just assumed it was the was simply how it was laid out for the photo. Actually, it is completely off-center, and looks terrible. The magnate latches don't line up, and the whole thing pulls itself out of wac and looks goofy and poorly made. I sent mine back, it's not workable at all. I thought mine was an aberration until I saw the picture again.....can't imagine what somebody was thinking. Very odd.

I owned one of these for over 10 years. It went through college with me and was big enough for all of my books, etc. Post college, my son used it for school and during it all, it went traveling with us several times a year. I probably would still have it and use it for travel except that on one of those trips, I parked my car across from the Air & Space Museum in D.C. and someone broke in. I like:general design is clean. Good fit for non fancy business use or just for school.
the internal mash pockets are pretty comfortable easy access for your stuff
internal iPad/tablet padded pocket can fit a MacBook air 13" snugly.
external laptop compartment is interesting and easy to use
the bag can easily fit 2 laptops
the zipper handles can support a lock
the bag is comfortable
the edges of the straps are folded in a way that don't let them dangle, looks less messy
good size: not too big and bulky and not too small and slim.
I don't like:
the bag somehow looks a bit simple or cheap, hard to explain why.
there are no fast access pockets/compartments for stuff like: keys, phone, money, credit card. The external pocket seems to be a better fit for left handed: when I want to reach the pocket, I usually bring it to the front through my right shoulder (since I'm right handed), however the zipper for that external pocket is on the other side making it hard to get thins out.
So if you are a business traveler I wouldn't recommend this bag, but if you are looking for a day to day bag for work, or for school it's a nice looking, nicely sized, bi-sexual backpack.
There is also a compartment for an IPad, Kindle, or similarly sized device.
Overall this backpack has four compartments. The laptop area, the pad area, the larger center area, then a smaller compartment that can be use phones, pens, or other small items.
The backpack is sturdy and well made. The material is strong enough that it can withstand quite a bit of weight without worries of loose stitching. In actuality, if used for a laptop, the backpack probably won't be weighted down with other items. However, there is room and capability to do so within reason.
My 15" laptop fit perfectly in the pocket, very safe and snug. My son has a larger laptop and we tried using the backpack with his as well. Of course, it was too bit to fit in the laptop compartment AND have it zipped. But it did fit snugly in the compartment and, in a pinch, it could be carried there. He was able to fit it into the main compartment of the backpack and there was plenty of room for it. He then placed his cords and accessories in the compartment that was made for the laptop without compromising the safety of his machine. This backpack has so much padding and is so sturdy that it would actually work for a slightly larger laptop. The effect wouldn't be as streamline but it is safer than carrying it in a traditional backpack or without any protection at all.
The fit is comfortable and, for being so padded, there isn't a noticeable weighted feeling when using the backpack.
I am so impressed with this backpack that I will be buying my son one for himself. Even at the list price, this is an excellent investment. I am so impressed with the quality of the material and the stitching that my frugal self would pay full price without blinking an eye.
This would be an excellent graduation gift for a high school student going off to college or for anyone of any age who needs to commute anywhere with a laptop.

This is a very nice-looking, slim and comfortable backpack. I like the sleek black streamlined design, that can pass for almost any use from casual to semi-professional. It works great for carrying my MacBook Pro, along with a few books and papers.There's a padded laptop sleeve that keeps the laptop snug directly against the back. Then comes a larger compartment, that has room for things like books and various equipment, with two internal mesh pockets and a padded sleeve that fits an iPad nicely. Then there's a thinner compartment, with room for papers or a folder or a thin book, with pockets for things like pens and pencils, calculators, phones or mp3 players. Finally, there another outer pocket where you could keep a notebook or a dayplanner or the like.

I received my backpack 2 days after I ordered, with prime membership...I was between this one and the Microsoft Rainer, so I ordered both, but the material from Microsoft wasn't as resistant as this one.

Bought ths for my son for Christmas and he was thrilled. When I ordered it I had no idea that the picture was sparkly but when I opened the box it was like getting a bonus. This was a well priced item that my son loves. I would recommend this product.
Pacsafe TravelSafe 20L Portable Safe & Bag Insert
I've been using a smaller PacSafe portable "safe" for several years. It has become so worn that the steel mesh is wearing through the fabric and the some of the strands in the steel cable are broken which regularly poke my fingers. It looks like it's falling apart but it's still just as secure as the day I bought it. These things are tough. It's a great feeling to lock up expensive items and not worry about them. I know four people who bought PacSafe bags after I showed them how well it worked.PacSafe has made some improvements. The steel cable used to pass through the top of the steel mesh under the fabric. This could invisibly break or fool thieves into thinking they could just cut the fabric around the cable. Now they wind the cable through ten external steel-reinforced holes which makes the cable completely visible and more intimidating to a thief with a knife or scissors. It also puts no strain on the internal mesh and the fabric when pulling the locking "nut" through it. Also the locking "nut" embedded in the cable which the system completely relies on is now steel instead of nylon which makes it harder to damage with a tool or simply melt off with a lighter.
One added feature is straps with snaps that keep the bag "deflated" for storage or transportation. The steel mesh will want to expand the bag to its maximum size and these straps will keep it compact.
The only missing feature is a hole on the bottom to attach the free end of the cable to. With older smaller bags this turned the cable into an uncomfortable but usable shoulder strap with a sliding fabric sleeve so you wouldn't have the cable cutting into you (so much). I was also able to use this hole to attach a much more comfortable camera strap which turned it into a camera bag. With this model, the steel cable just dangles uselessly whenever the bag is open. There is no handle or strap which makes it very awkward to lift and carry with heavy contents. Even a simple handle would have made this a five-star product.
One thing they didn't improve is the protection of the ends of the cable. They still use rubber shrink tubing which will eventually expand and tear, exposing the end of the cable which has pointy strands.
This bag is very large. I had debated between the 12L and this 20L. If you just want to store a couple of tablets and a non-DSLR camera you can do it easily in the 12L I am sure. See others reviews to see what you think. I believe them. The 20L is almost like a grocery bag in size and takes up most of a large beach bag if you do what we did and 'hide' it inside there. I was able to fit two sets of goggles, snorkels, a travel zoom camera and had enough room to easily house a laptop computer or any number of other items. Two or three people could easily keep all their key valuables in here. I think it would even hold two 15 inch laptops with some room to spare.
The build quality is great and I genuinely felt it did the job. The wire mesh goes all the way to the top and the cable is a solid deterrent to theft. The lock mechanism is easy to figure out and use once you read the instructions. We were able to put the bag inside a less conspicuous beach bag and then just put the cable out the side. It had enough length that I could run the cable down and around two lawn chairs and still bring it back up to the lock part easily with some slack.
One could argue that the mesh holes are large enough that someone with a knife could get a camera or a phone out of it. To me, that's not what this thing defends against. It's not invincible. It's a deterrent. A thief is not likely to want to spend a lot of time trying to saw a hole in your bag when he doesn't even know what's in there. Someone genuinely determined could of course get a good pair of bolt cutters and run off with it, but that's going to be noticeable unless you leave it unattended at night or something.
All-in-all a great product that gave us great piece of mind. I opted for the 20L because I thought I might need the room and it was only about 10-15 dollars more. I wound up using the room, but I might also get the 12L for lighter trips. I like this product and vendor that much.

Great for what it is. You know the old saying that locks only protect you from basically honest people. Bought for overseas trip, and used it daily to lock up camera equipment in room while out, also good for cruise ship travel; I suffered no losses and it worked perfectly. It did give me a high degree of "peace of mind" which is invaluable. Bag is well made and should last a lifetime. It effectively stops the sneak thief, pilferers, maid/yard man theft, and the quick snatch. But really all you need is a good set of wire snips to get into it. On the up side,1] out of sight out of mind, 2] it sends 95% of travel thieves to the next car or room for the "easy prey". I rated this bag as ok because I don't know if it work as no one tried to steal or get into it which is a good thing. I will give you what I feel are the pro's and con's. We bought 2 of these for vacation. I put one in the rental car, wrapped it around the seat frame, and put the mat over it. With tinted windows you could not see it. The other one I secured around the hotel safe. Split valubales between me and my wife for security purposes. I would say this was a good investment.Pros:

Just got back from the Islands and used this everyday to hold camera, iPad, wallets, passports, and jewelry while in our room. We also used it in our automobile when we went to the beach, hooking the cable onto the inside of the trunk for an extra measure of safety. Peace of mind is worth the cost. Revised...12/2012...I have now had the luggage for over two months and used the luggage for a trip to Europe(amazing!)and also on a few weekend getaways. The luggage really held up considering the travel it went through getting to Europe and back to the states. The smell of fuel went away within a week. Not sure if it was from the packaging or shipping process. Overall love the luggage, very good quality, good price, and love the color titanium. Another feature that this luggage has is the expandable sides, which came in handy when bringing back items purchased on our trip. I would definately recommend this product to others.

This luggage set looks good but that's where the appeal ends. I have owned this product about two months and used it twice. It's now ready for the trash as the shell has already broken from cracks and punctures due to airport handling and cold temperatures. The shell materials appears carbon fiber like but is actually a thin fiberglass material that is made brittle buy the cold of jet cargo holds where it easily shatters. Although the price is appealing, Don't wast your money. Perfect!I just bought this backpack and I love it! It was comfortable from the moment I put it on.
It's cute, the design is true to the photo, but it was not NEARLY as sturdy as i was expecting it to be, nor breathable. And the straps are super stiff and SO uncomfortable if you get any weight more than a few spiral notebooks in it...
I think I'll just stick to my ripped up NorthFace backpack...
Wish I had tried it out before I took the tags off so I could return it.

Started falling apart in less than two weeks.This was a birthday present and I was SO happy with the bag. The size, quality, pattern...everything was perfect.
Except two weeks into using it I noticed some threads that hold the zipper at the base were coming lose.
One week after and the threads are all gone.
I have been in midterms these past two weeks so did not have time to log in and ask for a return until this morning and even though the bag is falling apart, because I did not return in one month (past deadline by 4 days), I am now stuck with a backpack that did not last TWO weeks.
I have no words to say how unbelievably disappointing I am. So much for the quality guaranteed of Dakine.
I wish Amazon or Dakine would contact me to offer me a replacement, this is unbelievable.

I was looking for a backpack for college so it needed to carry a 14 inch laptop, one large and heavy textbook, a notebook, and miscellaneous things without turning me into a turtle.
This is perfect!
It does not have a separate pocket for laptops but that is fine, I always carry mine in a sleeve and the back of the pack is padded anyway.
I love how compact it is, the bungee cord to tie my sweater, the padded straps, and the sunglass pocket.
I highly recommend it!

After a dozen or so uses, I can say that this is an excellent backpack. But there are some things to be aware of if you are considering backpack versus messenger bag.Backpack pros: I got this because I was sick of my messenger bag moving around. The harness and panel do a good job of holding the pack in place, so climbing hills is that much more fun. The lock pocket is handy for one of the first things you usually take out upon arrival. Although a dry fall hasn't really tested the waterproofing, it looks like it will do fine. The outer material (cordura?) seems tough enough--I crashed on it the other day and there is just one wear spot of any importance over the lock pocket.
Backpack cons: As far as the backpack itself, the lining does get a little sticky if say your hand is damp or sweaty, and the lock pocket is tight enough that not much else will fit in there. This model obviously just has the big main pouch and the lock pocket--no place for your phone, no place for pens, no little pocket for paper clips or whatever. It is not a briefcase alternative like some messenger bags, and if you think you might want more in-bag organization, opt for the modules or a more expensive bag.
Backpack versus messenger bag: Besides organization and stability on your back, the main thing to think about is access. The backpack is tall and skinny, while a messenger bag is short and wide. In the latter, you can see more of your stuff and pull it out with little disruption of other items--slip out your notebook, close the bag, and move on. With the backpack, you have to be strategic about the order in which you pack things, because if you want the 4th thing down, 1 through 3 have to come out first. This means the backpack is great if you make one stop--get there, unpack, and start the day. Multiple stops might mean multiple unpacking and repacking. The opening is wide enough that you can't really walk around--at least with the bag just on one shoulder--without rolling the top and tightening down at least one of the straps. One further constraint is that the bottom of the pack is fairly small compared to the top, so the thing you might want last, like your lunch, might not end up being the bottom item in the stack. Oh, and note also that the height of the backpack means it ends up covering more of your back--even with the mesh panel I sweat more than with the messenger bag, all things being equal.

My husband uses this bag to ride 25 miles to work then back home. He has road in the pouring rain and this bag has kept everything completely dry. It's also big enough to hold his laptop and change of clothes + shoes.

My son, who is now in high school, needs a backpack for all his books and stuff. Every year, we would buy one in August and, usually by the end of January or early February, we would have to buy a new one because the first was so beat up. Well, last year my wife and son wanted to get this Swiss Gear backpack and I, being the family cheapskate, was against it because it cost twice as much as the standard generic ones we were buying. I didn't want to spend the extra money just for his "style" and thought this one would also be ruined by mid-year. It was two against one, so dad lost and we purchased the Swiss Gear.Well, he just started back to school this year and is using his Swiss Gear backpack for a second year. I looked at it the other day and the only discernible defect is the plastic dome on the logo has fallen off. Otherwise, this thing has worn like iron! This is truly a case where spending the extra money actually results in a savings in the long run. I'm just glad they haven't engaged in "I TOLD you so".

Has lots of room, and distributes weight of a 17" laptop nicely with sturdiness and padding. The material you can tell is tough and will hold up to abuse. I love this unique design of Macbook pro case that I ever owned.I got it because it looks very unique & sleek design made me get this.
It looks like protecting the macbook pro fairly good, soft leather cover scratch proofs the brand new macbook pro.
However, since case is isolate the backplate into unibody, easy to get heat up on bottom of the case.
If you are planned to use it for heavy load of work, you shouldn't use this case because it's going to heat up really easily.
However, if you plan to go starbucks or occsasional usage, than you must use it!! it is sexy case.
Another benefit to this case that I'm not sure the other reviews mentioned is that the inside has a very soft lining, so you don't have to worry about the aluminum being scratched as with the hard plastic cases.I've wanted a more protective and professional case for a while (no more of these cheap plastic ones) so I got this one. I didn't like the flap closure at all, but it's the best one I found that I liked. So I just stick the flap between the computer and the case and it's out of the way!

I got this backpack to carry my gym clothes and yoga mat (via the board straps on the outside). It works very well for that. It's pretty compact, but also fits my tablet, Kindle, and purse. The water bottle nets (there are 2)hold fairly large bottles securely. The straps are very well padded and feel great on my shoulders. One issue is that they are very wide, and if you have a large chest like me, they will prevent you from being able to move your arms forward. The chest strap almost completely eliminates this problem for me.The front pocket of this pack have a couple of pen holders and 2 very well-padded cell phone-size pockets. I kind of wish there was another pocket somewhere for other small things, because you can't really put loose stuff into the front one without it falling out when you unzip it, because the zipper opens it on 3 sides.
In all, this is a great quality small backpack for the price, and I love the color. It definitely appears as if it will last for a really long time, but I'll update if I have any unforeseen problems.
