Timbuk2 Freestyle Plus Messenger Bag
We have way too many Timbuk2 bags etc.. This thing is the perfect size for my purposes. Canteen style Nalgene water bottle, light jacket or sweater, all your basic other crap, and of course my iPad fit perfectly. With these daily essentials it is not overloaded or packed too tight. It does not feel too bulky while 'wearing' it. My only suggestion of improvement is that it needs the magnets that hold the flap closed similar to another of my Tim2 bags. The Velcro will eventually get less grippy and yes I can replace the Velcro but the magnet system is FAR superior. Loves me some Timbuk2.

This bag fits the bare essentials well. I fit the following things in it and it will still close easily: MacBook Air 11", 1 Spiral notebook, pens, charger, kindle fire (small version), computer lock, small bottle of Advil, a few feminine products, ecig kit the size of a small pencil case, 3 flash drives, and ear buds. It is a very small bag, but holds what I need and nothing more (which keeps it light). The laptop sleeve will not accommodate a MacBook that has a hard plastic shell cover (like mine that has a Maclocks case screwed into the bottom), but I can slide the laptop behind the sleeve and then put a spiral behind it for added protection (which I guess the hard case would also provide to an extent) and use the sleeve for my kindle. (this inability to put my Air in the sleeve was why it got 3 stars instead of 5) The strap is well designed and wide enough to distribute the weight but not so wide that is impossible to use as a courier bag for me (and I am on the busty side). Also the Velcro is incredibly strong, so if you're lazy like me an don't always use the clips close the bag, the Velcro will offer moderate protection from things falling out. The bag fell of the passenger seat of my car and landed upside-down in the floorboards and the Velcro held--nothing fell out of the bag, even from the sides. I would like to see a few more internal pockets, but that would also mean making the bag larger, and the whole point of this bag is for it to be small. The styling is excellent, and I use it as a work bag as well, so it dresses up or down well.To sum up: if you want a very small courier bag that is well designed and the biggest thing you need to transport is an 11" Macbook Air sans plastic shell, or an iPad, then this bag is an excellent choice. If you need to put anything bigger than that (even a clip board or Air in a plastic shell) then you should size up in your messenger bag selection.

18" Green Army ACU Digital Camouflage Water-resistant School Backpack
Initially I wasn't really sure how this backpack (it's sitting next to me right now) would hold up, especially given how cheap it is. Thankfully, it holds EVERYTHING (and i'm talking a ridiculous amount of textbooks, my 15 inch macbook, my pencil case, my two folders . . . you get the picture) and more importantly, is COMFORTABLE. I made the mistake of bringing aesthetically pleasing bags over to college and they are usually not particularly functional so this was a godsend. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone. It's low key, functional, and CHEAP.

I bought this backpack for my 6 yr old son. I was worried that it would be way too big for his tiny body, but it is perfect! This backpack works great from kindergarten to a senior. Very flat with nothing in it but really holds Allot inside. It is very heavy duty material & looks like it will last for many years to come. No pockets other than the one outter pocket, is the only minor downside. Love it! I have a lot of experience with ACU gear given my military occupation. This is in no way close to military spec, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I got this for my 7 year old and he can wear it just fine. It's big enough for his school supplies, but not too big. I would anticipate that he could use this well into the later years of elementary school. Will it last that long? It just might actually. The construction is good especially considering the price. Zippers are stronger than most "kid back packs" that I've seen. I don't believe they will fail as easily. Best part is that it's very water resistant. In addition to the exterior material, it also has an inner layer which is really what makes it resistant to wet weather. The layout of the pockets is simple and functional. The outside pocket has a few standard sleeves and pockets for school related items. The shoulder straps are nicely padded and counter well to the smaller from of a child.

I ordered a brown color bag but was sent purple. Brown straps and a purple color bag is not a good color combination. I gave this two stars because I liked the silky feel. This bag needs to be improved . If the straps were black it would go with any color. The smell gave me a headache . I cant bring this bag around anyone the smell is sickening and will affect other people who go near it. I am dissatisfied with this purchase .
Camelbak Octane LR 70 oz Hydration Pack
I concur with the review of the delivery system. We bought these for the new design (1/4 turn lock is very nice), but we both were surprised to run dry only 2 hours into our ride. Then, we discovered there was water left, but we couldn't get to it because of the wing design. Terrible for biking, might work okay for running. I did like having the water lower on my back, just wish that the bladder emptied better.
1) Before buying online I had thought the top two zippers opened to the same compartment, however they're separated. I was hoping they would be the same so a larger item could sit in there with the zippers open.
2) Although the reservoir sits on the lower back and is much more comfortable I don't like the way it's made... it has several compartments and, as the other reviewer stated, makes it a little more difficult to suck all the water out. I'd like to see it made without the separate compartments welded into the reservoir, although Camelbak says it's made that way for better strength and so it wraps around the hips better.
Bottom line... I have to give this bag 5 stars because of the comfort. I would recommend this bag for anyone looking for a backpack hydration system (I bought 2!).

I can't speak to the other reviewers' IQ or ability to read directions, however the octane lr comes with two handy straps located conviently by the hips. These straps as the directions states "compress the reservoir" so that flow of water is stable and continuous. I my self followed these instructions and am consistently able to get the reservoir bone dry every use. Pros: Bought the Octane LR 70 oz to keep me hydrated for some summertime training runs. I previously used some waist belts, but found them a bit obtrusive. This was my first Camelbak I've owned or even used, but it seems to do as well as advertised. Overall, this model is very lightweight and fits very comfortably. I like the even distribution of the water across the lower lumbar region. Numerous straps allow for continued on-the-fly adjustment of fit as your supply dwindles. The extra zipper pockets come in handy for gels, phone, or whatever you'd like that is of reasonably small size. But I think that packing a large poncho would push the limits of its storage. Positioning of the tubing and valve is easy, and was easy to access during use on runs and mountain bike rides alike.Cons: As someone else mentioned, there does seem to be what I would term early discontinuity of flow. It does seem to happen when the pack or tubing is maybe angled a certain way, but what results is some "dry runs" of fluid when you know you have at least a liter left in the bag. Not sure what causes this, but I think the side flaps of the reservoir might pinch off. If I shift the pack and the reservoir moves, it restores flow. It is a bit annoying, but not a deal breaker. This may or may not be an issue with other models, but as I said, this was my first Camelbak, so I don't know.

I chose this model for long bicycle rides on gravel roads and it perfomed optimally. The reservior shifts some of the weight lower on my back and nearer the hips, which reduced fatigue on my shoulders. The side pockets allow for easy access to food or other items normally stored in back jersey pockets (although I was still able to reach into the back pockets of my jersey, surprisingly). There is a small pocket on one of the chest straps which also allows for easy access to small items while on the go. I highly recommend the Octane.Save 10% Off

As a professor, I bought this bag to carry around my laptop, textbook, papers, and various other essentials. It is a very sturdy and professional-looking bag. I love it!
I am a bike commuter, have always been wanting to buy a "real bike bag". like Seagull, Chrome, and Timbuk2. Aside from saving money, this Clyde bag's shape is so alike with the other bike bag, similar size (other's medium), adjustable strap (though on the different side than bike bags). What different from other bike bags that I like the most, is that there are many compartments, big and small, enough to neatly carry my 15" MBP, loose papers, folders, stationaries, etc.
It also has a handle, makes it easy to carry by hand. Bike bags don't have handle at all, perhaps for practical reason, as the handle gets on my way when I tighten the strap for biking. The material, though not recycled truck material, is very durable. It looks elegant and fancy! Zippers are strong. I lost the Nexus clips (that closes the cover) several times, this is the problem with this older Clyde, there's nothing to hold the clip until I use an office paper clip to seal the open straps. And my Clyde is not totally water resistant, small rain is fine, but things does get wet when it's pouring.
Since I have already get used to the compartments feature, to calm my desire to buy a Chrome, I bought a Timbuk2 Deluxe Strap Pad, and made myself a cross-chest stabilizer. Now it's closer to a bike bag.

I believe I've found the perfect bag. I have about a 45 minute commute one way on public transit each day. I carry a lot of stuff with me (that's another story). I have tried so many bag styles and have not been satisfied until now. This bag is so easy. All my stuff is so much more accessible. I was concerned that this bag would look like a women's handbag instead of a man's messenger bag. I was not disappointed at all. The strap is wide, comfortable and manly. The bag itself is big enough not to be a purse. It's almost as wide as a normal laptop case, but taller. The color is awesome and looks like a much more expensive bag. The quality of the leather is really good for the price. The only issue was the formaldehyde fumes coming from the bag when I first opened the package. It's a good idea to air it out for a couple of days at least before you use it. Jeep Radial 20" Hardside Spinner
Really nice piece of luggage. Reasons for giving it only four stars: (1) there are nicer pieces if you want to pay more; (2)a small hiccup with this piece. First, the positivies. (1) It is light weight. To keep from being overweight on a return flight on a recent trip to India I put more into it and less into my check-in bag. (2) Its spinner design makes it more maneuverable then regular drag bags. (3) It was carefully examined after a rather grueling trip in which it spent time in a number of different forms of transportation and dragged here and there. It shows no wear except that the wheels, of course, no longer look new. (4) It holds a lot for its size and is well designed for the type of luggage (hard shell) that it is. Loading it is somewhat like making a sandwich. A zippered compartment on the inside of its top side and restraining bands in the lower are great helps in keeping everything in place for zipping it shut. (5) The handle for pulling it had no problem with my practice of hanging an extra carryon bag on it to get that bag out of my hand. (6) It fit well in the overhead bin of 747's and Airbuses. Negatives: (1) Sometimes, when its wheels are facing the right direction at the time you start pulling it, the wheels get sideways and one ends up dragging it rather than having it roll. This problem is remedied w/o the necessity of stopping. Just pull it up even with you so that it is on all four of its wheels and begin dragging it again and it's fine. (2) It has no loop or recepticle to which a tow strap can be attached. When dragging it and my checkin bag it would be better to simply be able attach it to that bag so as to be able to simply pull the checkin bag with the Jeep spinner bag following along behind. This, of course, can be remedied by looping a tow strap around the handle, but that is not as handy as the above-mentioned connections would be. A great buy!
The wheels are plastic. Okay fine, most luggage in this price range is plastic. BUT when it advertises as a spinner and the two of the wheels refuse to move, then clearly, some corners were cut. That was my first inkling that this belongs at Sears.
The handle that pops up is smooth, but very flimsy. I expect it to fail within months. Now my inkling is that this belongs in the clearance section of KMart.
It looks much more rugged than it is. Its lined, but there are zippers. When you unzip the liner, you notice how thin the plastic is on the outside. Very thin. Enough to make you think if it was thrown (like some baggage handlers are apt to do), then it would dent, crack and be rendered useless. This belongs at the dollar store. Really isn't useful as durability and functionaly are next to useless.
It has the looks and the color going for it. But that's it.
(I'll say that eBags has been very good retailer so far. I requested a return and they sent me a return label. Its never been used, so I expect a full refund.)
Lenovo Backpack for 15-Inch Laptops (57Y6457)
cheap and good been almost a year now..works great no tears, just a little wear from being smacked around a bit
There's a slim compartment for a 15" laptop which fits fine and includes a little more room for a book or two (I wouldn't recommend keeping textbooks here). The next smaller compartment contains a holding area for pens and room for a few other little things like a CD-player (really showing my age now), camera, etc. The front-most zipper compartment is about a foot long, just enough for probably storing non-conventional sized documents (e.g. passports and pamphlets). The side pouches are too small for water bottles (although a 12oz can of soda is fine) so I just end up putting my keys into them. You can probably put your camera or snack bars in the pouch as well. There's a mesh lined compartment on the outside of the pouch but I haven't been able to figure out what would be suitable for storing here.
To conclude this review, I wouldn't consider this backup heavy-duty because the right shoulder strap has shown some visible tear; probably due to stress of weight. I got this backup at a deal of $17 shipped so I can't really complain for what I put it through.

I got the bag for > $20 from Lenovo with one of their coupons. The bag quality seems to be good. There is the main compartment for the laptop and possibly a book or a few folders. The secondary compartment can fit a 2" binder and a text book. The third compartment isn't terribly big. Just same space to miscellaneous things.Unfortunately, for me, the book bag is way too small. I suspect, for travel, this backpack would work great. However, avoid the bag if you are a student. The bag would work well for one, maybe two courses depending on the size of the books/binders.
I'll probably use the bag for my summer classes and the days I only have one class. However, on days where I have 3 classes, I'll have use a carrying case for the laptop.
Short: Bag appears to be good quality. Small in size. Probably not good for Students / people with many books/binders.

When I saw this bag in Amazon, I love the canvas' color, but I thought that probably it looks good because they photoshop the picture; still I wanted to give a chance and I ordered it. I was so thrilled when I got it. It is amazingly beautiful. Oh! I forgot to tell you that it is very spacious, I packed it with 2 full change of clothes (after splash mountain ride), bottles of water, camera, wallet, sunglasses, hats and some snacks and still available room without loosing it shape.

I am an art teacher, a youth counselor, as well as a full time student. Working alongside other professionals and educators, as well as going to school myself, I wanted a pack that is able to not only contain the massive amount of things I take with me when I leave my home for the day, (water bottle, lunch, coffee, pencil case, books, books, and more books) but that is also presentable in a workplace environment, say opposed to my dirty hole ridden northface arctic. This pack has been incredible thus far, and I take it everywhere I go. It is not a big bulky thing like some of these 'vintage WWII' look-a-likes sometimes can be, yet somehow it is able to safely contain a considerable amount of materials, with just the right amount of extra pockets, not to mention, its a gorgeous looking bag! I find myself enjoying the action of the buckles, buttons and drawstring for their aesthetic and tactual appeal, but as well as their quality. I have never been one to value the look of something over its quality and functionality, and although I have only had this bag for a week, I could tell the durability and craftsmanship was far above average the moment I opened the packaging. This is a bag that has potential to last a lifetime, so long as it is not abused. I would highly suggest purchasing a can of canvas waterproofing spray, especially for those regularly exposed to rainfall, for it will hold the integrity of your pack for years.The one and only complaint I have thus far is this; many packs today come with a thicker, perhaps more durable material for the base of the bag. This is of course to ensure a longer life time of setting (or tossing) your bag down at every given stop in ones day to day. This pack has the same blue canvas on all facets of the pack. Although it is a solid material, the bottom will be the first to go over prolonged use/abuse. A leather bottom to match the buckles would have been nice for a few more points in durability and strength, but these things can largely be avoided with simple care.
Over all, and this comes with a very picky and critical history of packs, to date, this is my favorite 'all-around' pack I have ever had. You will not be disappointed with Rakuda.This bag was perfect for me while I was traveling! It is cute and comfortable. I plan to bring it with me next time I travel because it can fit a ton of things! Highly recommend!The canvas is strong and the size good. My concern is that all those straps you see in the picture are for show actually they had snaps. It's a nice idea easier to use, but unfortunately the snaps are cheap so they don't close very well. For a very expensive product the fittings are rather cheaply made. I just walked through an airport on Thanksgiving, highly aware that each of those snaps was liable to come open in a moment and be easily opened by a thief. Sadly, if they had just had the read buckles, which would have been cheaper for the manufacturer and actually a better product.
